Joe Manchin didn’t completely torpedo the $500 billion in Green New Deal climate change spending, but he did stall it for a month saying he would not support the climate change spending until he sees July’s inflation numbers in August, which should be a warning.
If you think carefully about it, it’s a classic Manchin head-fake. The July and August inflation numbers, to be released in August and September respectively, are almost guaranteed to be lower than June.
July/Aug are the two months we are in right now where inflation is hitting a plateau. Gasoline prices are dropping due to a drop in demand. This is the period before prices start rising again in September and October when the energy farming costs start to roll out with the next harvest.
Senator Manchin isn’t stupid; in fact, he is quite Machiavellian, he knows this… thus, his position.
Manchin can give the illusion of prudence, but he knows the July inflation rate will show a decrease for two reasons.
First, in the month-to-month comparison, July will not carry the same scale of gasoline and energy increases as June. Second, in the year-over-year comparison, July ’22 will be comparing to July 2021 when prices already started skyrocketing. Bottom line, July inflation will give the illusion of dropping, which gives Manchin a shield to support the spending…. and he will.
WASHINGTON DC – Joe Manchin is forcing Democrats into a brutal choice: Take a deal now to lower the costs of health care premiums and prescription drugs, or try to negotiate a larger bill in September that includes climate and tax reform with no guarantee it will pass.
The West Virginia Democrat said Friday that he wants to see another month of inflation numbers before considering legislation that might increase taxes on some higher-income Americans and plow hundreds of billions of dollars into the energy sector. On Thursday Manchin “unequivocally” rejected July or August approval of Democrats’ proposed energy investments and tax increases in a meeting with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, according to a person briefed on the meeting.
[…] Democrats are reeling after Manchin’s communication to Schumer indicated that climate change and tax provisions are unworkable for any party-line bill considered this summer. Fury is building within the party, with Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) questioning whether Manchin should continue to chair the Senate’s Energy committee.
[…] Manchin had sought to shave down an energy package originally set at more than $500 billion to $300 billion or less. He balked privately at sending money to the EV industry and the Direct Payment program. (Read More)
While you won’t see a single MSM analyst, financial pundit or mainstream political commentator point out what Manchin is doing, his strategy is cunning.
Right now, conservatives are calling Manchin a hero for blocking the GND spending while progressives attack him. This gives the impression that he is a centrist, above the fray, and wise in his outlooks toward the economy and budgeting. However, it’s a ruse. Joe Manchin knows, just like you do, that the next inflation report will be much lower. He is positioning to support the climate change spending in September.

The scheming strategery of Joe Manchin is as predictable as the scheming strategery of Mitch McConnell.
The two wings of the UniParty duck seem still on the surface. This type of ploy is exactly how DC is able to operate, paddling forward furiously, just below the surface; and almost no one can see what is happening.
Once you see the strings on the political marionettes, you can never return to that moment in the performance when you did not see them. However, because too few people see them, almost everyone congregates in the lobby during the mid-term intermission asking, “hey, when did Texas become dependent on windmills?”

As predictable as it gets.
That’s half a trillion dollars !
Throw out the bathwater…and the baby!
That idea is the gist of what is said in the Dec of Ind and Constitution when its declared that we have the right and the duty to remove the government and “choose new guards” for our liberty.
The militia appears 8 times in the constitution — the party structure appears not once. Figure it out.
throwing out and replacing the “guards” does not imply abandoning the constitution and just for your consideration….
Constitutional milita in NOT a private army nor is it a “security armed mob — it is force ( meaning power under control) to be used in emergency conditions to recover a “free state” (2A) when a “free state” is lost or in peril.
I would consider America is in emergency conditions like none other in my lifetime; ALL caused by old, sick, mentally and physically twisted old politicians and their billionaire masters who will soon see their Judgment Day.
Deception, perfidy, and self-interest all obvious in Manchin.
Standard operating procedure in Congress.
Correct! In the cases of Manchin and Sinema, holders of Senate seats from red states in a very tough and bruising election cycle, the two of them cooked up a scheme to garner laurels from conservative voters as fiscal conservative holdouts in their states and have managed to be canonized in some quarters as patron saints of sound money policy (the hoped-for outcome!).
Both of them hope their charade will go unnoticed and that they will be retained by their voters; I wouldn’t find it surprising at all if the final Senate vote took place after the election.
Sad that their own state constituents cannot see the truth about their Senators’s deceptive games. But that’s true for many voters – “the other guy’s rep sucks but mine is just fine. I know because he said so.” Yeah. Dream on.
They don’t seem to realize their profligate spending is the root cause of all of this inflation. The inflation monster will eat us alive in short order. We are truly going to hell in a hand basket. God help us!
The current consumer price inflation is due almost entirely from the green new deal energy policy and the unnecessary conflict with Russia.
If you want to know how hyper-inflation and currency collapse happens, read this.

But it doesn’t affect them, they are making their millions to protect themselves.
Making millions by taking millions directly out of our pockets.
These people haven’t done an honest day’s work in their life.
They understand but they are traitors. Sic semper tyrannis.
But, but, but … “green”? Doesn’t everyone want a “clean, green, future”? Think of the chillllldren!? Shouldn’t we FORCE everyone OUT of their dirty cars by making gasoline unaffordable?
so long as there is a plurality of voters who believe this utter nonsense … we’re doomed. America is doomed
Oh they know. Those who are running our country using the demented old man all hate America. They are all trashing our country on purpose.
They understand but none of this touches them. They are rich and live protected lives. And they do not care anything about the citizens of the country. We are all replaceable, they have a never ending supply of people wanting to come here. The only thing that will ever get their attention is massive protests and civil unrest.
Sundance, as you lay out what Joe Manchin is doing, does this position him better for a presidential run?
Or, perhaps the man is reading the tea leaves with Gavin Newsom in DC this week and trying to circumvent Newsome getting a leg up in the coming presidential race. Can Manchin outsmart the Speaker on this point?
And, does the Fed have enough ink to print another $500 billion?
I think Manchin, Newsom and possibly Abrams, will battle it out for the nomination…
I think Manchin, Newsom and possibly Abrams, will battle it out for the nomination…
Interesting. Opening the possibility of an Abrams/Newsome or Newsome/Abrams platform.
Oh my!
I thought it could not get worse. I’m wrong. God help this country.
Viva 🇲🇽 Mexico
Apparently they have plenty of electricity!
The people and the constitution will be having “something to say” about “normal politics” well before we get to “this stuff”. (IMO) ((maybe widely shared — think it through)).
What a nightmare, especially with Dominion picking the winner, that is if we don’t get serious about the election system.
Heck, at least the Ghostbuster got to choose their destroyer.
Are you aware of any changes that would prevent dominion from picking another winner?
No unfortunately, no.
Even in Florida.
We the People can count, and don’t need machines.
Manchin will be bludgeoned by the LEFT. I have to believe Big Tech goes in big for their guy, Newsom.
Hispanics and blacks like Daddy T more than the white guy from West VA.
while all three have the support of the radical wing of the Dimm/commies, I am not sure they can garner enough overall support after the collapse of Slo Joe to get the Democrat Party nomination
Wot? Only one is a person of color? So much for the diversity of the Democrat Presidential candidates! And that one POC is morbidly obese!
she does tip the scales though….you could put her on one side of the balance against the other two
Well Manchin is Latin… (Italian)
Larry, Curley and Moe (they would be better).
Joseph, Karl and Lenin?
Xi, Ho Chi Min and Bernie?
Dear Lord.
Bottom of the scummy barrel.
There is a saying that the cream always rises to the top. In DC shite always floats to the top.
The solids in my septic tank are all at the surface.
Just like Congress.
Needs a good dredging.
I have believed for a while now that “How Low Will You Go Joe! Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema will run as a team for the Democrat Party for President in 2024 as the “moderate” “blue dog” type Democrat alternative to the radical Communist wing of the Democrats. Thus the fiscal “conservative” ruse and pretense opposition to the BBB.
Being a life long citizen of West Virginia, I have had a belly full of this fence sitting fraud. I have watched his political “tricks” from the time he was WV Secretary of State, to Governor, to the shenanigans he pulled in order to fill the Senate seat after the passing of Grand Kleagle Robert C. Byrd. WV government is polluted with Manchin family, appointees and sycophants
The “How Low Will You Go Joe!” slogan was well earned by this shyster. However, he is no worse than his partner in crime Shelly Moore Capito, (RINOWV), one of Mitch McConnell’s reliable “cloture” votes for sale. The Manchin/Moore/ Capito political machines are the ultimate Uniparty hat trick on the uninformed voters of WV.
Hoping more and more of the West Virginia voters WAKE UP! Still remember that POS having his helicopter land in our office parking lot when he was governor so he could use our bathroom. Apparently his ride was a little too bumpy and his intestines couldn’t handle it. I remember being very annoyed that his security detail treated us like we were terrorists – it was our business and he marched in there like he owned the place. Never forgot & will never forgive!!
Apparently the chopper with the full service restroom hadn’t been delivered yet. Backwards WV!
How a man or woman treats others is the biggest tell there is. For an opposing example, see Governor DeSantis.
I don’t know how we can overcome the Charleston mafia. The population of WV votes against him but Charleston or Dominion pulls him through. TheAG would have been a great Senator for us. He wasn’t good looking or very charismatic but is a great conservative and has done a lot for WV.
And, as always, in superficial America, the book’s cover matters more than the content within the pages. What a shame.
Maybe he is blooming where God planted him. I’m glad to hear he is working for your lovely state.
Actually I voted for AG Patrick Morrrisey. From what I have seen, he is a solid America First and WV conservative. Unlike liar gun grabber Manchin and Shelly Moore Capito, Morrisey has been an excellent supporter of the 2nd Amendment.
The recent Supreme Court ruling (West Virginia vs The EPA) reigning in the EPA unconstitutional power grab on the “Climate Change” carbon emissions scam with their “cap and trade” farce was AG Morrisey’s lawsuit.
Remember Governor Manchin and his Democrat legislators passed H.B.103 (The Alternative Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard) that implemented a “cap and trade” scheme on coal fired power plants and force them to invest in “renewable energy”. 10% by 2010, 15% by 2020 and 25% by 2025. If they met these goals, they would get credits that they could sell to others that didn’t make the goal. Thus the Manchin WV cap and trade scheme.
Thankfully, the Democrats lost control of the legislature precisely because of nonsense like this, and H.B. 103 was totally repealed over Manchin’s objections in 2015. Manchin was in the U.S. Senate by that time.
I still remember Manchin’s ad for his run for the U.S. Senate where he shot Obama’s “cap and trade” law with his high powered hunting rifle, all the while as Governor, he had just siged a WV “cap and trade law”. If this didn’t show the people of WV what a self serving hypocrite Manchin was at that time, I don’t know what will. Nevertheless, he kept getting elected by uninformed voters who thought that he was a “good ole boy”. 🙄 Hopefully those days have passed.
However, here we are again, with Manchin trying to look like a hero opposing another “climate change’ scam spending spree, all the while deep down he supports that farce. Watch the other hand, because he will flip flop faster than John Kerry with his “I was for it before I was against it”.
Same here for Morrissey. I met him in Romney and he is the real deal. On the AG’s website, you can see all the lawsuits he has filed, some against the Federal government and the pharmaceutical companies. He’s really fighting for us citizens.
I never see Manchin that I don’t remember it was his daughter, CEO of Pharma company Mylanta, who jacked up the price of its life saving Epipen to $700, knowing that without it, people were in danger of dying.
I remember the panicked stories and faces of those who needed it, or who were the parents of children who did as well…frantic to hysterical at having to find the money to pay for it.
And when I discovered she was his daughter, I thought then perhaps he would have a quiet word about the brutal immorality of holding patients to ransom. When she stuck by her decision, I understood what sort of family the Manchins were.
When I look at Manchin, I can actually feel my lip curling. West Virginia deserves better than this, and Capito.
She (Manchin’s daughter) lied about her education to get that job in the first place. And then Mylan closed down & a bunch of my family and friends lost their jobs.
Manchin payed the usual lip service to those workers, but it was the typical slimy, “I feel your pain” crap that all the political class spew.
Capito’s office actually did help my family with a situation once (Manchin nor McKinley would even reply to us), but I’d place her in shallow swamp at the least.
I guess once we see the strings they al(the political class) make our skin crawl 😞
I am truly sorry, WVMOM. They’ve lost their souls. In corporate America, people are simply numbers.
I’ve been tempted a few times to write to my two senators (small s) and ask them for a list of what they have done for their state’s (Texas) population. In the case of Cornyn, that would be “done to”…red flag laws.
But I know I’d be on a hiding for nothing and would get the same response you did from Manchin’s office.
(and thank you for correcting the name of her company for me.)
They only reply with form letters. They tell you what their constituents want. It doesn’t matter that you’re one of those constituents. They’ve already made up their mind. Does no good to write them letters.
Gayle Manchin, wife of Joe and mother of Heather Bresch of Mylan Pharm fame, was the head of the National State Boards of Education in 2012 during the Reign of Obama.
Gayle made a push to get states to adopt mandatory stockpile of Epipens, and most did.
Guaranteed sales, just like the vaxx.
USA Today (aka Gannet Trash) was not impressed:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2016/09/20/family-matters-epipens-had-help-getting-schools-manchin-bresch/90435218/
Ah yes…that I had forgotten. Never mind when it was offered to her, and no doubt why. Never mind an ethical family would think first and foremost how corrupt and bribe-y it looked.
The stench which follows that family really is quite noticeable.
WVcoalman, I am a 63 year life long WV resident. Thank you for putting into words my exact feelings about Joe and Shelly.
And when I DON’T vote for Abrams … will I be a racist? Sexist? Misogynist? Transphobic? Homophobic? Cisgendered? A white supremacist?
I just want to know which names I will be called for casting my vote wisely …
All of them…and probably by the time you vote, a few more.
I am going to bookmark this comment along with the one above.
Sundance is probably very close to a bullseye here.
I will point out that in addition to the points Sundance makes about Manchin, in September we will be past Labor Day and into the official Campaign for the Mid Terms.
I don’t know if the House or Senate will be wanting to pass more GND spending in the runup to the election and Manchin may be counting on this too, allowing a vote for the Team, while not screwing the folks back home in Coal Country West Virginia.
Then again he will be up for election in 2024, and will be 76 then, and after the Biden years no one may want to elect someone that old for president. He may have a viable Rino run against him then for Senate. So he may be just fishing for the best K street donations on the way out the door.
I am surprised Elizabeth Warren is not in the list.
When the **** DID Texas become dependent on windmills?
The grift available from pushing the windmills is what they were depending on.
The actual benefit to the people…
Not so much
When the checks cleared…
Privatize the Profit…
Socialize the debt.
The debt is being socialized all right.
Indeed, Betsy.
For “The Powers that Be” (TPTB), profit is in the “Implementation” of the project; as the “Public” (Society), through government, is saddled with the costs of “Implementation”. (Debt)
For (TPTB), once the “checks clear”, the success of the “Project” is irrelevant.
Truth. Washington is simply a mafia/RICO outfit.
I thought/believed Texas was better than that. But the politicians in this state are no better.
BTW, according to reporting in Texas Scorecard, this state has a $27 BILLION surplus. Now what do you think they’ll do with that?
…also depends on whose definition of “success” is embraced.
Believe or not there are times during the year when they make ‘too’ much power.
But that in general is the problem with all grids that build up too much renewable yet unreliable power.
That is because they hurt the business case of on-demand power suppliers as they end up idling this critical capacity for a good deal of the year. Thus they go out of business and shut down.
The solution is to offer a ‘much’ lower price if you can’t guarantee a certain power level by month.
Thus this blended annual consumer power rate would allow profitable operations of the on-demand generators needed when the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine.
Believe me, this has been proposed many times, but lawyers are really bad at math unless it’s deposited in the Cayman Islands.
Another component of the problem is the capability of a grid to “wheel” power, that is, move it efficiently and quickly from where it is generated to where it is needed. I’d guess the Texas grid is not designed for this, and due to the size of Texas, that really does not surprise me.
Windmills, first used in Holland in around the 12th century were to pump water out of the lowlands. Scotland used them in the 1800s to produce electricity. Well, we are not in the 12th or 17th century, duh. While windmills may be an ADJUNCT to produce electricity in this day and age, they are not capable of providing the services needed. Get real, people!
They work fine but not for on demand power.
Yes, I recently became aware of that, but solar doesn’t have that and wind locks it out for some reason?
Still it only takes care of limited reductions of power via a frequency reduction, but only for a limited time.
We have net metering by law in Texas. I don’t know if the power companies are having to take power from investor-owned wind farms of if the power companies have their own wind farms or both.
It may be that we have so much wind generation in Texas because of the net metering law. If that is so, the power companies may be having to work around what is being fed to them.
You need time of day/month pricing. We all do.
The free market will figure this out, both producers and consumers.
For example when is the last time you had lobster vs chicken?
Same principle.
Free market prices solves problems.
So net metering that doesn’t understand the demand is a big problem.
The don’t by definition.
I have net metering.
Never mind. Our political eunuch governor has written a strongly worded begging letter to the EPA asking for permission to pump more. I’ll save him the wait.
No.
lots of ultra millionaires and billionaires like sucking on the teat of the government through subsidies…that is the only way industrial wind and solar are even close to viable
Ercot did this to Texas. What we learned during the black out ice age was the the board of directors of Ercot didn’t even live in Texas. Hopefully that has changed because those people don’t care about Texas and our electric grid. All they cared about is dem green crap that only works when weather permits. Windmills don’t work without wind and solar panels don’t work when they are covered in snow. biden has regulated our oil and gas so heavily we can hardly use that for our power. democrats have to be the stupidest people in the world.
ERCOT needs to be fired. Texas needs to do what it does best – pump oil from their numerous and beautiful oil rigs and refineries.
Was that Rick Perry’s doing?
Austin is communist!
It’s been incremental over the past few years.
When they decided not to do a feasibility study to see if it would really work. Had the politicians and bureaucRats hired a qualified Engineer to do one, the study over a 20yr history of Texas weather it would have revealed that wind and solar would come up short.
Trusting politicians and bureaucRats to find solutions energy problems instead of qualified Engineers is a really stupid mistake.
There is really no way to drain this swamp…It must be destroyed…
Pretty much. Even if there was a cork you could pull and it would drain, can you imagine the stink, filth, and disease that would be left behind after all these years?
Destruction is the only way.
Oh, we can drain the swamp. But like any other swap, you need to kill the alligators and blood-sucking mosquitos first, otherwise, you get eaten alive.
Nuke it from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
I agree but it must be done from the bottom up otherwise they will keep raising up the next person.
Manchin choreographs his moves to preserve his fake allegiance to West Virginia voters.
McConnell choreographs GOP senate votes to preserve their fake allegiance to conservative voters.
Manchin and McConnell share far greater commonality with each other in their ideology and ethics than they do with anyone who actually wants conservative policies.
Manchin is as slick as the other slime balls, always has been.
High inflation, absent more helicopter currency, always does a series of pullbacks, on its way up, as most consumers adjust their spending based upon their ‘projected’ income and assets.
In addition, ironically, high inflation rates can actually cause deflation, especially, in more discretionary goods and services; which then cause job losses and more deflationary pressure.
In short;
higher energy prices, higher consumer prices, less economic activity.
higher interest rates, lower asset values, less economic activity.
How many times are they going to the well with the Manchin will save us gambit. Geez, it’s old.
How is all this gonna end?!
It won’t end unless the Republicans in office step up and stop being Repukes. If they do not, we are done as a sovereign Nation, and will have surrendered all our founding Fathers did to the graveyard of the unknown soldiers.
So sad and worried. Please God, do not let this happen.
Email Manchin.

To the staff member reading this, we see you. As Americans are getting crushed by inflation Washington just spends with abandon, and we’ll watch Senator Manchin play the “‘Ol Potomac Two-Step”. I have to give him credit, at least he’s a little more wily than Sen. Rob(ber) Portman. But Americans are waking up to the game being played by Manchin and Sinema and as Democrats keep grabbing at the steering wheel of this economy to drive us all off a cliff, it’s not going to save them.
I can’t email him because he only accepts emails from people in his state. There is a telephone number where you can leave a message.
Find an address in WV and use it. I do it all the time.
I used to do that but lately, they rarely ask.
If it’s a national issue about which I call, I just tell them that I’m from CA (truth), and because the senator’s vote affects the nation, I thought he might care what I and my neighbors and colleagues in a blue area (true), are thinking.
I called Manchin’s DC office and one of his local offices on that last blockade he and Sinema executed.
I’d let you use mine, but obviously don’t need to dox myself. Believe me his office will be notified by several of my family members!
I am calling my kin in West By G-d tonight, although something tells me they are already on it.
https://www.manchin.senate.gov/contact-joe/email-joe
Try here, I put in an out of state address and submitted.
It requires a WV address. But I will call. And will see if I can find a mailing address.
Phone calls are more effective. If you don’t get a live person for his DC office, call one of the local numbers listed for him in West Va.
Sometimes they ask you where you live, sometimes they don’t.
You can play the game, if you want and make up a town/city in West Va.
Or you can say you visit family there and are thinking of moving.
Or just say, “I’d like to make him aware of what I and I suspect many others have noticed.”
Manchin and Sinema are keeping the democrats from driving us over a cliff.
If you read this article, you’d more likely conclude that Manchin and Sinema are merely tapping the brakes from time to time.
well put
No simping for Sinema please.
The story by then will be the ongoing recession heading into the election. I agree Manchin is putting a short timeline out there to make it seem like he’s being pragmatic. But he also knows that by September we’ll most likely be officially in a recession and the public will be in no mood to hear about a $500B “Green New Deal” boondoggle. I think what we’ll more likely see is a “rescue package” aimed at sending $500 checks to the public to buy votes and claim the regime is doing something about the recession.
What is getting funny is the reporting on the recession we already know is happening. For example, in this report the Fed says out one side of their mouth that we’ll most likely avoid a recession while saying out of the other side of their mouth that they’re raising rates to lower economic growth – i.e. to trigger a recession. And out the other, other, side of their mouth, the Atlanta Fed is forecasting negative GDP in 2Q which meets the “official” definition of a recession since Q1 was negative.
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/07/07/goldman-slashes-gdp-forecast-for-the-second-quarter-to-just-barely-above-water.html
Manchin knows that the talk of the town will be the recession and he gets to be the “hero” by delaying the GND $500B so that the Republicans and Democrats can join up to spend $1T “fighting” the recession.
This.
I forget what news outlet it was but it’s headline read: The War Inflation. Everything is being blamed on Putin. It is really sickening how our Fake News is destroying this Country.
I totally agree with your analysis. Numbers for one month don’t mean anything to people who know the Dems, from top(Bide) to bottom (House) and Senate and local dem, have crushed this country on every single issue. Crime, inflation, foreign affairs (leaving folks behind in Afghanistan), etc. and they know the Dems line up, one by one, to vote for a guy who has never had a real principle in his life, a guy who is a compulsive liar, a guy whose kids are sexual pervs and he may be too………and on and on and on. In other words, I think West Virginians are among the least likely of folks to think that the Dems of THIS administration and THIS generation are good for them.
As for a whole bunch of states, not just CA and NJ and NY, but a bunch of others….no self-respecting liberal (much less a progressive), would be able in a Dem primary to bring himself to vote for a guy from hillbilly (sorry, but that’s how they see people from that state) country who protects the coal industry. That’s how bigoted and provincial are libs.
I just don’t think Manchin would stand a chance…unless he’s actualy angling for a vp slot and I don’t think after all these years of being a senator that he’d be find with that office, not when he can become a governor.
Manchin will try to Trump-2016 the Democrats. He may not realize yet that the Democrats rigged their 2020 primary to install Biden…just like they will do for Newsome.
Manchin is slick Willie w/o the baggage. He’s dangerous in 24 simply because he appears so blue dog democrat. This deceptive pos will appeal to both sides of the isle. Abrams and Newsom are too far left to draw from the middle. Not that it won’t be stolen again.
PERFECTLY put about Texas.
– A Texan
Then, we need to flood his home state with that news and email him saying we know what he’s up to.
Still, the guy wants to be the governor of his state. He doesn’t NEED the US Senate Dems to help him win that office.
Why should he fold, Sundance.
He cannot get the Dem nomination for POTUS because progressive Dems would sink him….so I’ve read he wants the STate House of his state. The present governor, Justice, was elected as a Dem, but he switched to the GOP. His term is up in two years.
We all know inflation is not going to ebb enough in a month to make voters feel as if we are in the clear..
I don’t think he will vote for such a tax.
Thank you Sundance for a better perspective!
He wants to see how much money Chuck FU Schumer puts into his offshore account first, then he will talk. By the way, if he has any thoughts of running for President in 2024 he better not even think about voting for this BS.
This evil administration and Congress are full of tricks and subterfuge without any transparency. And they keep on spending and spending and spending with absolutely no brakes, with no thought that it is not their own money to spend. It is not a pot of anonymous gold. It is tax money and debt and inflation that we are having to pay. I am so sick of them.
It is a constant battle to figure out what the Biden administration is doing and why they are doing it. But it is always for some reason other than what they are saying, as you said. The Biden administration just signed a contract selling to Estonia long-range HIMARS, the kind that Biden said they wouldn’t send to Ukraine. There is no oversight, however. So, is this so that Estonia can send them on to Ukraine with plausible deniability? Of course it is. Estonia is such a small country that long range HIMARS would hit Russia if sent from almost anywhere in the country.
I think Manchin is positioning himself as a Centrist “Blue-Dog” Democrat, just like Bill Clinton did in the early 1990s as preparation for a Presidential run after the “Seven Dwarfs” debacle of 1988…
Joe isn’t stupid by any stretch of the imagination and he can read the writing on the wall. The hard Left AOC wing is trying to drive the party off a cliff in order to achieve their “Green Utopia” but the wheels are coming off and Bite-Me’s approval ratings are in the tank so, absent another “Dominion Miracle”, the Republicans are going to make huge gains in November and be positioned to take the White House in ’24.
Newsom is too slick by half and Stacey Abrams has about as likeable a personality as Kamala Harris so Manchin can step up as the “reasonable, rational option” and the MSM will provide perfect cover, just like they did for Billy-Jeff and the Missus way back in 1992…heck, he may even pick Sinema as his VP since she is also very good at playing the “look at how willing I am to stand up to my party, because I just care SO much about the little people” game and lots of voters (including many Conservatives) are falling for it, IMHO!
Triangulation?
Bingo! Clinton was a master at it – he would get credit for the things that went right, someone else would take the blame for anything went wrong, and he always came out of it with that “aw, shucks” Southern boy demeanor that the Press just loved!
Plus, nothing generally happens in an election year past the end of July anyway. He knows this.
Funny story, I tried to get something passed before the recess in July 2008. I got a call that it wasn’t going to happen. I’ll spare you the details but about 20 billion in US space assets and experience were going to be destroyed. Long story, not for now.
But then a Russian invasion and near collapse of the US financial system manage to bring Congress ‘back’ into active session ‘in’ an election year, presidential no less.
The person I was working with then managed to get it into the same bill that ‘had’ to pass or the ATMs wouldn’t turn on Monday.
After it was law I called him and said, I don’t know why we’re so concerned, all it took was a Russian invasion and the near collapse of our economy to pull it off.
Wait til Manchin does the deed. The stock markets will submarine. Like Manchin’s announcement, today’s “relief rally” is a head fake.
Many of us in WV saw Manchin’s strings lonnnng ago. Never voted for him & do not support him now. Hopefully more of my fellow Mountaineers wake up before he tries to weasel his way into higher office.
I know Sundance suspects he is the 2024 dark horse for demoncrat presidential nominee, but I’m not convinced (unless everyone still has their head buried in the sand).
The only good Rat is a dead rat.
Joe Manchin and Kristen Sinema are preparing for a presidential campaign.
If I was a dem and knew I would never be allowed to be president the next best thing would be to leverage my fake opposition to enrich myself and my family in true dem style. I
My grocery store has a sign showing a “pause” in grocery taxes of 1%. I live alone and don’t spend much. For me, it amounts to about $3 a month. Not even a gallon of gas.
Last i heard, ol’ JB-Pritzker cut the gas tax increase which I heard is about two cents per gallon. What they don’t tell you or remind you, is this:
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker doubled the state’s gasoline tax in 2019 to 38 cents from 19 cents per gallon, including automatic annual hikes.Jun 28, 2022
They spend zillions and give back nothing.
Manchin fools a lot of people. Soft spoken, calm, likeable, seems like an honest guy, when he’s the complete opposite.
My guess is that everyone is in on Manchin’s game. All the denunciations, hand wringing and crying out are all theater. The demons will bide their time and probably add even more spending to their despicable bill. What else would they do in this extra month than work to deliver even more pain to main street.
Regardless of July numbers, the bill, if/when passed, will pour gasoline on the bonfire of inflation. “Taxing the rich” (ie: taxes that will get passed along to the working class in the form of inflation) is included in the bill.
One of Sleepy Joe OG’s-(good one snoop dog) last press conferences, the Video scared the crap out of me…flanking “PedoPete” was not one but the last two failed AG’s of California…and now I hear Gov Hairdoo is measuring the White House for Drapes(or planning with Dr J the 25th Ammendment Show Trial).
Would be very bad if the caretaker govt is The two of them before ’24…ask anyone living in California over the past 10 why…
They had a bunch of presidential books(think they are executive orders and signed documents per president-someone correct me if they know on the mantle)…they intentionally hid Eisenhower, and Trump behind the failed AG’s…and flags. I did find it ironic that the presidents position at the podium was directly in front of the Jimmy Carter Books…(since he is the second comming of Carter!)
The stench coming from the DC swamp is really getting bad.
We need to throw a tarp over it.
There’s lots of talk about getting Manchin and Simena to vote with the rest of the democrats but really all that’s needed is crossover voting by Romney, Collins, Murkowski. That would be the “bipartisanship” Congress likes to brag about.
Only need to wait for the horse trading terms to be settled for their votes to be granted from McConnell.
Spot on Sundance I expect a lot of hanky Panay between now and when the new congress convenes in January. They will fully fund JoeBamas follies and continue the slide we’re on. It’s what the uniparty does best.
None of this is legitimate — none — of — it. But then, what is the next step for the “patriots”.
Only question that matters.
All “normal or historical” political analysis is without relevance now and once we make the decision to ACTUALLY Oppose this agenda backed by the militia (whatever that means to you and yours… I know what it means for me and mine) this BS ends and ends for couple of hundred years and has implications world wide.
** That is the undercurrent of what is taking place on “main street” every day every hour.
Joe Manchin is a liberal Democrat. He’s always been a liberal Democrat. He will always be a liberal Democrat. He’s just a liberal Democrat from the 80s and 90s rather than the “Democratic Socialist”/Communists that have taken over the Democrat Party of today. Please, West Virginia, stop electing these liberal Democrats that are killing your jobs and destroying the country.
You’re assuming they elect him?
Without an honest election that every citizen can audit, at the local level, we have no idea if ‘anyone’ in office, at any level, should be there.
Considering WV is one of the reddest states out there, Joe is definitely a Dominion Senator…oh…IMO.
We don’t need more green new deal investments for wind or solar. We need more investment in getting the wind to blow and the sun to shine 24×7. Just ask Texas if they need more wind mills right now or if they just need the wind to blow.
It’s not the windmills that are the problem. It’s the pricing structure.
Frankly long term, natural gas is way too useful in the production of more valuable products than power production, like the food you are eating.
Once again prices based upon free market will find the optimal way through all of this. Not the government and certainly not the Satanic cult of Davos.
Plus we still have decades to make the gradual shift from fossil fuels to nearly 100% 2nd gen nuclear power plus local renewable energy systems.
But we need to get moving as the build out will require a lot of fossil fuels and a functional society before what we build produces more energy then it used.
This is the bigger problem, especially with the madmax Davos/WEF croud running things. As all the above takes a highly technical and functional society.
The only way to defeat a bad idea is with a better one.
Thanks Sundance. You never let them get away with the “smoke & mirror ” routines.
Much appreciated.
There’s a whole lot more going on than that. I can guarantee that Manchin had already talked to Schumer about this and it wasn’t a surprise. In fact, the deal was set to allow Manchin to do this to gain popularity while stalling the package long enough to make it a rush job before the election to get more money pushed through.
Now, beyond that, the Dems know they’re lacking any qualified candidates for a presidential run. Obama’s second term was only because of the fraud. Trump won because they didn’t think they’d need that much fraud. Biden is when they pulled out all the fraud they could because it was needed. But, they don’t have any good candidates to appeal to the majority of their party. Enter Manchin.
The Dems are dealing with Manchin to boost his popularity because they’re grooming him for a presidential run. That’s what’s running underneath all this other stuff. That’s the deals being made. With Manchin, they think they can get all the parts of the country like West Virginia behind him and pull in more states. He’ll be seen as a centrist and bring those walkaway Dems back to the party.
They have enough Repubs on board with them that Manchin can even vote no on anything they want him to. It’s all a puppet show.
All they have to do is make the winner half feasible
And belivable To the public thru the lame stream
Just enough cover for drop boxes and Chinese owned Dominion
To control the outcome.
So … just when inflation is reaching a plateau … Manchin will SAVAGE the American worker with MORE inflationary … IDIOTIC … Federal spending on useless nonsense? I predict a million man mob shows up in Washington DC … like the peasants of Sri Lanka …
Climate change (the real kind, not the religion kind) takes decades to centuries, and Manchin wants to see next month’s inflation numbers? Just kill the bill.
But, what if? What if inflation is actually higher? Does Manchin support the bill either way?
I am sure that he will support the bill next month, for the right favor.
Just a matter of details until the next month’s reports are released.
Unfortunately, today’s CPI inflation number is mostly fabricated and a hollow number.
I am sure they can make it look like whatever Manchin wants next month, including like a purple elephant.
Also note government spending got us mostly in the inflation mess.
Now they are arguing whether they want to government spend 0.5 trillion dollars into Energy or to put stimmy check into people’s pocket to fight inflation.
Truth is, left turn or right turn, it will be same effect: it will spend 0.5 trillion into the economy of borrowed money.
One positive for Democrats on the stimmy check: it will buy some more midterm votes and make some good show that they care about the working individual.
Thank you Sundance. You provide one heckuva service. You are my main source of news — gave up on mainstream media long before it was cool to do so.
That said, can you say ‘politics’ and ‘politicians’?
Why is that so damn hard to comprehend? They’re ruthless, cunning and corrupt? All of them. Left, right, center…makes no difference. They have no reason to be otherwise so long as reelection every two or six years guarantees the continuation of their grift and their power. Perhaps if their careers had a shelf life (term limits??), they just might consider representing those who elected them.
I cast my vote for God…He will not abandon me. And before you castigate me for giving up, know that I wore this great nation’s uniform as a Marine for 22 years. I was willing to die for her…came close a couple of times.
If I have to fight again, so be it. But God is my fortress, not an assemblage of wealthy grifters.
Just heard on TV that the Saudis will INCREASE OIL PRODUCTION 50%
Dems are getting all their positives ducked up for the mid-term elections
“and plow hundreds of billions of dollars into the energy sector”
”If it wasn’t for the subsidies it wouldn’t be worth doing” ~Warren Buffet~ regarding wind turbines while he is currently building a 3.5 billion dollar wind farm in Iowa.
And will anything change when the GOP “takes charge”? I’m not holding my breath.
So, fellow long term treepers… are we being weakly tossed about by the current winds of uncertainty… or are we ready to man the sails and fight on through this tempest?
