A couple of years ago, our county GOP executive committee voted to censure our ambitious tool of a state rep who happens to reside in this county. The other 5 counties in the state house district did the same. The rep and his people were able to stop that freight train using a procedural technicality.
Last year, the rep announced his re-election bid. The county GOP opposed him again. The county was involved in a redistricting which would have pitted him against a strong opponent from a bigger place. He did not have the support of party in his own hometown. He decided to spend more time with his family.

That is exactly what we are doing down here in Florida, I joined a Patriot group many months ago. I have learned there are many ‘Patriot groups’ all over Florida and people are very active with local elections and sending emails/letters to our State and Federal representatives.
For the next election in my county, there are 4 (out of 9) School Board positions up for re-election and we have our own ‘like-minded’ candidates running for each position. Hopefully we can get a few of them elected and start replacing the School Board.
Any elected position in the county we will be focused on, Mayor’s race, City Council, Sheriff, etc. We meet at least once a week and coordinate with other groups in different counties to stay active and involved.
You are correct it is not dramatic nor is it talked about in the MSM (probably a good thing), it’s peaceful, legal and we will keep this county red…Yes people are doing things. 😉

The grocery stores are selling gas at a dead loss. Mine allows up to $1.00 off per gallon for up to 30-gallons. All the money is made getting you into the store to get you to buy more to boost your fuel points.
About the only time those fuel stations tied to grocery stores make a few cents per gallon is when a traveler with no rewards card passes through and fills up. Then they make about 3-cents per gallon or so.
Yes, about 3 to 6 cents per dollar margin on average, according to a friend of mine who is in the gas station industry.

I buy the gift cards I use when it is 4x fuel points. I have also used in the past when I made major purchases at Home Depot (with the added 4x ). I have $3 off for the 30 gallon this month. I do not shop consistently at this store and always sales items–I do look for the 4x points.
Actually they are able to sell at a loss because of big data. They sell the data collected on you from your shopping habits, as well as using it themselves.

There has been a small decrease locally from $4.99 to $4.75 in the last week. This is diddly squat — but wait until after the 4th of July Holiday. It crept quick immediately following Memorial Day. All optics and psych messaging – like his insane tweet.
Fortunately we don’t drive much so only fill up once every few weeks. It was $4.79 here then, this morning I was surprised to see $4.19. Now if only we could dump Cornyn.
My first REAL job was gas station attendant at Tom Terry’s EXXON … and he made so little $$$ … that he paid me $1.90/hr in 1972. Of course, gasoline was $0.42/gal. … but still … I could barely pay for a weekly dinner with my girlfriend. He was clearly CHEATING me … and the driving public. He could afford to cut gas prices to $0.38/gal … but would have had to cut my hours in half … or pay me $1.65/hr.

Service-station owners make between 7 and 10 cents on every gallon of gas they sell. That sure tells me that the service-station owners aren’t the problem.

Billy I checked this out and discovered u r about right – small margins on gas (~2% fully allocated) but large margins on stuff inside the station, like snacks, allowing the owners to make a living. i read they can get 50% margin on that stuff. I rarely go inside a station unles I am out on a trip and go in to buy somethng or use the head – usually 1-2 employees, max, in the station. So it makes sense to sell as much gas as you can w/1-2 employees, which means lotsa pumps and hope also to sell lotsa pop and chips. But adding pumps means more cash cost which u may not recoup w/those low margins. Tough biz.
What blithering idiots-unless someone has owned a business (including gas stations) do they realize the profit margins are so slim there isn’t room to “lower” prices unless you want them & their families to suffer, starve, go without or close their business.
These greedy jerks think the business owner who works his a&& off and gets paid last behind everyone & everything else (if there is a profit) should take a wage decrease. A&&holes.
My father owned gas stations and the only way he was profitable was by the sheer number of gallons he sold – fortunately he had one of the busiest stations in the state bcz he was on a major freeway. There is a breakeven point where your expenses are paid – then you can pay yourself.
We pinched pennies and there were many years of frugal living until the business could pay for itself and support a family.
My father bought a car wash and took out the gas bcz there was no $$ in it.
Clueless this incompetent administration is-that’s why a business=man is needed to run this country. Experience matters!
We began a very small family business that finally kinda took off, in that we were selling products, in summer 2020. We continued until around 3 months ago.
Shipping has doubled then tripled and taken our profits to nil. We continue now out of purified orneriness. People think we’re successful but we’re just too stubborn with a tiny glimmer of hope to give up.
