It’s always good to review ground reports from middle class Americans. Much like the feedback from CTH readers, there is a raw honesty you don’t find in any of the economic outlines from financial punditry.
In this Fox News Digital report, Maryland residents react to the consequences of Joe Biden’s economic and energy prices. Maryland has been shifting further to the left socially as the DC-centric commuter base has moved into the suburbs. However, they are not happy with prices. WATCH:
The same sentiment is reflected in a recent Gallup poll [data here] highlighting a large majority who note the direction of the country is not good. Joe Biden policy is crushing the working class, and we can all feel it. Middle America knows we are going in the wrong direction.
Well golllly
As Gomer Pyle used to say surprise surprise surprise.
They voted for it. F*** them.
You beat me to it.
Exactly my first thought too.
I didn’t! Get me out of Maryland!
agreed. and we also don’t know how badly our Maryland elections have been rigged.
And Sundance said it ,without saying it,
“Maryland has been shifting further to the left socially as the DC-centric commuter base has moved into the suburbs. However, they are not happy with prices”
Not all of us.
Respectfully, No, a large number of us in Maryland did not vote for any DemonRATs.
Only the Democrats voted for it. Republican voters are simply swamped-over by Baltimore and DC-region precincts, plus who knows how much fraud is buried among and thus multiplies the legitimate vote counts in those sold blue areas. Lopsided and suspiciously high vote counts in Baltimore and the DC region favoring D’s have been going on for decades here. Republicans have only once challenged them back in the late 80’s/early 90s when the fraud was very obvious. The RINOs still gave up after the Dems dug in and refused to investigate.
Please don’t blame the entire population of a blue state for voting for the communists. It’s not accurate by any stretch. I have improperly made those broad brush assertions in the past but stopped. Look at the election results maps which are available after every election.
Understood! Same thing for those of us stuck in WA State, near Seattle — swamped by Dems!
I’m a Marylander, born and raised, and it all comes down to what county one lives in. What ruins it for this state is the metro areas around Washington and Baltimore. Western Maryland and the Eastern Shore are pretty conservative. I live in Harford County, which is pretty conservative. There are still Trump flags flying in my area of the county, the northern part right on the York County, Pa line.
I wouldn’t give you a plug nickle for the Wash DC area or Baltimore City.
I also was born and raised in Maryland, in the DC suburb of Montgomery County. Here is what has changed over the decades: not only have we become overrun by the communists, but we have a very diverse population — people of color who are born and raised American, as well as recent immigrants from all over the world.
I am on the fence about diversity. There are wonderful things about making friends with people from different cultures. Many of the people are here because they have fled communist countries. Many are committed to what we’d call solid American values.
The schools are absolutely corrupt in pushing CRT and LGBTQ acceptance and conformity — no critical thinking or dissent allowed. Institutionalized bullying of political correctness that calls itself inclusiveness. This is Orwell’s 1984 come to life.
I used to be liberal, back when it was not the same thing as leftist. It is the liberal values of kindness towards disadvantaged people, inclusiveness/welcoming/sharing/curiosity about people with different backgrounds, tolerance and willingness to question and change our minds, to leave the world a better place than we found it, etc….. I am friends with many liberals (because that’s what I’m surrounded by, and I’ve known them for years), and they are nice people who want to be nice people and do the right thing, and be good.
Unfortunately, leftists have hijacked these nice qualities and turned them into the opposite: intolerance for conservative views, embracing illegal aliens and people of color, while hating “privileged whites”; thinking of people who voted for Trump as uneducated idiots who are the racist xenophobic, uncaring and selfish people.
I’m saying that it’s painful for me to observe how twisted the minds of my loved ones have become…. and wondering how on earth I went in this other direction.
OK: I’ve figured some of that out: the people who have embraced leftism are more concerned with social acceptance by the group, and fear ostracism. The people who are immune to the brainwashing by the MSM are more self-accepting and follow a higher Truth, and while it might be painful to be ostracized/shunned, that is not enough of a draw to remain with a group that doesn’t align with inner values. We cannot be turned, because we are willing to be completely ostracized. While this may not be true of everyone, I was bullied and ostracized as a child and survived that and went on to be a nice, social extravert (healed from that experience, in other words) — but I never forgot what that felt like, and while ostracism is not pleasant, it’s tolerable. And I’m compassionate to everyone who has been on the receiving end — I KNOW BULLYING WHEN I SEE IT.
So I never thought I’d be grateful for being bullied as a child, but I am now — it caused me to become more aware of who I am on the inside, and attuned to God as my compass — rather than what any “group” tells me to think or believe or do.
Amen. I know what you mean.
Far too often, the bullied becomes the bully. This is what we are now experiencing with CRT, the LGBTQq+/- propaganda et.al. It’s not enough that blacks were enslaved 150 years ago … but now whitey must be enslaved to “know what it feels like”.
MLK Jr. “dreamed” of a day when his black grandchildren could hold hands with white kids in equality … well … now it is the FIST of “equity” being slammed into the face of white children. Not quite the same dream of MLK Jr. Not quite.
I know how fortunate I am that I grew up in a particular period of time, when we were making progress between whites and blacks. I lived that, and so did my black friends and coworkers of my generation.
It is so f**king obvious to us that this current “race war” is manufactured and foisted upon us. But the youngers who didn’t live through that, didn’t experience it, don’t know what’s possible and don’t know how bizarre it felt when everything started to turn ugly. It’s obvious social engineering and manipulation.
My generation is that wonderful sweet spot at the tail end of the baby boom on the cusp with GenX. Say what you like about different generations, I firmly believe that every person of every age has something to celebrate, something to offer, and something to overcome.
We are going to get through this only if many of us wake up and stop fighting and denigrating each other, and face the real enemy behind it all.
Nobody bullied these extreme groups . They just hate anyone who will not obey them .
So they used your vote and moved on.. Sorry about that!
Liberals are generally ok, just not great with money. Leftists are evil. They are absolutely not liberal.
Respectfully disagree, Dani. I know the point you were making: Classic liberal views are almost always regarded as being moderate; and enlightened. If that was the end of liberals’ pushing, it would probably be OK.
But classic Liberalism is a gateway ideology. In history, it NEVER remained static; because liberals historically have NEVER accepted compromise.
Once they’re in positions of influence, they have always pushed for increasingly leftwing (aka”progressive”) policies, which almost always end in totalitarian authoritarian government, aka fascism or communism.
Same here. God bless you.
OK, but Montgomery County has long been captured by the feds. It’s home to NIH (think Fauci) and also NASA facilities plus College Park. But as corporate types ponied up to the fed gravy train, the influence spread to Frederick. Now PG and AA have long been escape hatches for DC and Balmer blacks and maybe now they are seeing the light of Trump v Biden. What I have seen is South River south of Annapolis used to be a sort of border of the “south”, but not any more. Check out say Waldorf.
I don’t think anyone remembers Carroll’s sacred trust nor Howard’s warlike thrust these days.
Agree. I’m in what is a fairly solid red county that was in the western MD Republican district. But in 2010 it was gerrymandered into two districts by the immoral Dems in Annapolis and I wound up in a district that includes most of Montgomery County.
I keep voting but I haven’t voted for a state or national winner (other than Trump himself in 2016) since 2004.
You must live near me.
If you went from being in the Republican 6th District before 2010, and well-represented by Roscoe Bartlett, to being gerrymandered into the DemoCommunist 8th District, represented by Komrad Chris Van Hollen and now Komrad Jamie Raskin, then yes we are relatively close.
Was coming back to Florida from New Jersey and decided to drive down the northern part of Maryland to get to Virginia for the first time and that is some beautiful country.
It is. That area you mention was once called, “hunt country,” while the state itself was nicknamed “America in Miniature.”
Once you get away from the densely populated I-95 corridor either to the east or west of it, the geography of the state has just about everything America has to offer except desert. From Atlantic Ocean to the geologically ancient mountain area to the far west that cuts deeply into the Appalachian Mountain Range, Maryland has a bit of everything that can be found in other states except desert or active glaciers.
About 25 years ago, some folks proposed creating a new “maryland” and “central maryland”. Central md was to include Montgomery, PG, baltimore and I95 to connect those areas, thus leaving the good parts of the state to be “Maryland”. At that time, Howard and Balt counties were still ok.
Yes, but Maryland Republicans have not been known for having backbones and tenacity, at least in my lifetime. So here we are.
Try Hagerstown next time you’re around. Stunning vicinity!
My wife and I were Navy, and she used to have to go to
Fort Richie now and then BITD. Very beautiful area (think Camp David). We lived in Annapolis which was pretty lib, but at the time we were in 1st CD which included Eastern Shore so had a republican. They since moved Annapolis out of that district. Back then there were actually a few acres of tobacco grown across the street from us, but those days are long gone.
Metro areas have the habit of ruining a lot of states.
The metro-Phoenix area contains about 2/3rds of the Arizona population. It is trending blue and will ultimately ruin this state.
Put that blame squarely on the university. Look at what UNM churned out over the last 40 years. Now NM is hopelessly blue and has plenty of illegals to pander to for many election cycles. These schools are poison centers.
Rock on Harford! That’s one beautiful, robust county.
My Man, GB. Preach it brother.
What’s west of Hagerstown isn’t all that bad. There are still a lot of Trump flags flying south of Friendsville.
Yep. That’s because y’all are still in a genuinely conservative Republican district. Except for Hagerstown itself which went mostly for Biden (no surprise since the city elected and is being mismanaged by a young female, fully-indoctrinated LGBTQ Socialist Democrat), 2 small precincts in Cumberland (where State Dept of Social Services have many of their “customers”) and one precinct in Frostburg (no surprise there either- it’s a town with a very leftwing state college), the rest of Garret, Allegany, and Washington counties voted at an average minimum of 4:1 Trump over Biden.
I remember a few short years ago when the first (open) pervert ran and won a campaign and I thought it was the end of the world. We’ve come a long way, baby.
you know there is a real plan afoot to relocate struggling people (of various backgrounds) from the MD suburbs of DC to Hagerstown, don’t you? This could account for some of the shifting demographics. This has been happening for awhile…. less expensive and pushes the problem away to other jurisdictions.
The DemoCommies have long been figuring ways to corrupt and covertly infiltrate & dilute the once-solid red Congressional 6th District which went from Carroll County west to and including Garrett County.
Unfortunately the local hard-leftwing corrupted courts have yawned at the Republicans’ charges of illegality in the Dems outrageously blatant gerrymandering, despite the R’s being correct and well-supported by evidence.
The 2012, 2016 and 2020 election results around Hagerstown show that something significantly changed in the politics between 2000 and 2012, and kept intensifying through 2020. That would support what you asserted.
You are correct. The same thing goes on in California, Oregon and Washington. Mostly red areas but overruled by blue metroplexes.
I ultimately left California in 2007 because the handwriting was on the wall with the direction it was headed in.
Two terrible decisions have caused great grief. The 17th amendment on the direct election of senators and the Supreme court decision to do the same in states with bicarmel legislatures. Instead of state senators being elected on a county basis which helped keep rural red areas represented they foisted population based voting districts on the state.
Until the election machine rigging is eliminated and mail-in ballots are eliminated excepting ONLY for prep-registered absentee ballots, I don’t think any new laws or new Amendments respecting the election of Senators can ever change anything.
I am frustrated and curious why conservative voters across the country aren’t screaming loudly for the CURRENT easily-manipulated voting machines to be eliminated, and that mass mail-in ballot processes must be outlawed because they can NEVER be trusted.
Until both of those changes occur in all states, we are at the mercy of the frauds and cheats who control the process. IMHO, our votes will never again count legitimately while the same corrupt Elites control the process.
Most of maryland counties are red. 2010 redistricting eliminated any chance for conservative representation in my conservative, rural area. Embarrassingly, that freak Raskin is my rep!!
Raskin is my rep too! He’s a total commie; I would NEVER vote for that corrupt tool.
“2010 redistricting” is a the official but nice, neutral description that completely avoids addressing the filthy corruption that went into it.
2010 Illegal Gerrymandering for Indefinitely Long Democrat Statewide Control would be the more appropriate title….. dontcha think?
us in down state Illinois know exactly how you have to live .We need another cow and lantern .
LOL! A little folklore-based sarcasm; I love it.
I’m sure some folks would be ready to use whatever is available to re-create the events there of October 8, 1871….
However I think many might rather see some expanded re-creation of the event of August 14, 1814… in the District of Columbia.
And the horse they rode on to the store.
I did not. My votes don’t seem to count here. They even eliminated conservative leadership in many rural areas with 2010 redistricing/gerrymandering. My district is a thin stripe that runs from northern maryland border to takoma park. Unless we can register the cows here to vote, we are grossly outnumbered by the leftists near DC.
In Chelsea, MA the Market Basket is busting with supply… it’s interesting.
Is that a monied area?
It definitely isn’t. Very much working class (no offense to those who live there) full of triple deckers.
MB has been holding up but that may also be due to some sleight of hand by the stock people. They will quickly fill gaps on the shelves with merchandise from the other end of the aisle. I saw an example a few weeks ago where the ramen was cleaned out and in their place was pasta, beans, etc. but only a couple of packages deep.
Like, the shelves look almost bare, then, you realize that what there is, is only one package on the edge of the shelf!
Yeah, I live in a triple decker – small 2 bedroom apt, but we have a fortunate deal whereby we are friends with our landlord. We pay half of what the rents are around here. They keep saying “affordable housing” but that equates to rents being like $1200-1400… more than mortgage payments in other states! We want to move to a more cost effective state before we buy.
Not really, but generally speaking a good number are subsidized with food stamps and WIC, etc. from the government.
They could’ve received a shipment of food, things are sporadic at the moment.
Government cheese
That poll is devastating.
Yeah, but according to the poll, things are improving over 2021. So, looking up!
Noticed that, too.
So, who are the idiots who think that we are doing better YoY ??
smh
Trolls from The Hill. There sure are a lot of them.
Temporary blip with the level of gas prices for a few weeks in Jan. Gas is up 14 cents since last week where I am. Those #s will revert back to December
Just lower your expectations though. If you don’t, well, Psaki may have to circle back.
Give them time. We are only one month into 2022 and if anyone can mess things up any further, Biden’s handlers have proven they are the select few. See, when it hits the fan, they simply fade away leaving a retard to hold the bag.
An evil tard
Well, buckle up, the ride is only going to get wilder.
Well golly Sgt Carter, this looks just like communism.
I want to knw who that 4% who are very satisfied. Maybe the Communist destroying this country.
One who send their maids to go food shopping.
Good point… all us multi millionaires are fine… /s
Ha… the maid in turn taps the InstaCart app and just retrieves the goods from the driver-shopper in the driveway.
Perhaps, those are the 4 % who are so pleased with extra payments from
the resident, or
maybe they have found a clever way to cash in.
They voted for it, but if people think they are about to eat healthy, they can think again! Canned veggies and soups will be their go to. Loaded with sodium and sugar! Don’t forget cheap white bread containing no nutrients at all. The impact of COVID on the mental health of children, and now food for their physical health. These morons will still vote Democrat, and rents just went up 30% too. Who pays for it? Tent cities, violence, shoplifting etc And now Cali are adding theft tax to peoples bills!
The lines at McDonald’s will be longer. No one can deliver as many calories as McD’s for the money – no matter how much money.
Taco Bell gets the calorie/dollar award. Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr. gets the c/$ for burger places.
You just made me hungry.
In San Francisco, the rents went up … and most stopped paying, period.
Theft tax! Wow.
I made a trip through a Tennessee Kroger yesterday looking for markdowns and checking inventory. Frozen potatoes were very low. Wings $3.99 a pound while breasts were $1.99 and legs are $.99. Seafood, shrimp in particular, remains reasonable for now. Beef has been very high for a while and pork is moving up. Citrus has gotten into the treat price.
Across town at a Trader Joe’s everything looked well stocked except frozen potatoes. Prices were typical Trader Joe’s except beef which is high.
Upper West Side, Manhattan:
15% are happier in 2022 than 2021? Must be the mindless peons in democratic states who actually think the politicians are lightening covid restrictions because they “care”. Good grief.
Come to CT, they are all over. ALL OVER!!! Every where you go, the little beady eyes staring over their masks, some doubled up. The eyes move back and forth faster if you approach without a mask. They look at you longily…but then thankfully for them, three more masked idiots turn the corner and their eyes of concern turn to- phew, I’m not the only idiot walking around, thank goodness.
Every day I go out…my wife now asks “Do you have to always say something when you see your first person of the day wearing a mask?” Me: “yes, yes, I do…I hate being reminded first thing just how many idiot there are in the world.”
How are there FEWER “very dissatisfied” in 2022 than in 2021. Things are getting WORSE … not better! Something WRONG with this poll
They died.
From starvation? … “with” COVID of course …
Stockholm syndrome
So Biden has a 17% approval rating? How they going to spin the next steal?
Awesome kitty!
They have Dominion over us. Illegal to question ministry of truth.
If you don’t vote Biden you ain’t black so rising price of groceries worth it to remain black or something
Plus, as Biden also pointed out, these people are able buy food only because black folks stock the shelves at night. Unless the shelf stackers didn’t vote for him in which case, they aren’t black and are therefore ineligible to sit on the Supreme Court.
My 18 pack of eggs cost me $0.65 more today. It sucks that the little of grocery shopping I have to do requires more than one store now, every time.
We have 4 restaurants and spend our time
running from Chef Store to Sam’s, to Costco, etc.,
and then distributing …
in addition to semi truck deliveries and produce deliveries.
Can’t have a diner without cream for the coffee.
My carton of half and half from Aldi was 70 cents more
I picked up half and half at Aldi (Central Ohio) yesterday, and thankfully it is still at $1.55 a quart- that has been a constant price for a couple of years. Eggs are continuously rising in price.
Would you like to know just how EXPENSIVE it is to live here in the San Francisco Bay Area!? That quart of half and half … Safeway’s store brand … is $2.99/qt.
https://www.safeway.com/shop/product-details.136450142.html
Yes, DOUBLE what you pay. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. The wife and I can’t afford to live here anymore …
I have not have a favorite of smoked babyback ribs since last March. They went up $1.34 or 41% since the retard was selected.
Selection, not election. Evil tard.
Just buying these two items at Costco will cost you $6+ extra now. Their canned six pack of Kirkland chicken was $9.99 forever, now its $13.05. Kirkland dark roast canned coffee was $9 now its $13
And big bags of dog food there have gone up $5 as well
Two of our daughters live with their families in the Annapolis area. We live on the eastern shore. Last weekend we went over the bridge for a grandkids birthday. I was sent to forage a few items, wow.
The people who voted for Biden and now complain about grocery prices now deserve every dime more they need to pay. How can anyone be a Democrat voter and not be a stupid fool?
Democrats don’t care about policies. They care about voting for people who will punish republicans and that’s all they care about.
Whoa.
Dissatisfied DROPPED from 88% in 21 to 81% in 22?
Who the hell are they polling this year?
“Illegals”
What’s not to love, when they hand ya a nice EBT card
–just for coming in!!
It was a FOX news poll. Remember FOX is the station who fired talking heads for mentioning the steal. They might have taken it in their own carefully culled headquarters as CNN has done for a decade.
Montgomery County reporting, here. No apparent shortages at the moment here though they are spreading the inventory across the front of the shelves but not deep. Prices are high. “I did that!” stickers go on gas pumps but get scratched off by Dems pretty quickly.
Another MoCo resident reporting in.
Aldi is well stocked.
Food Lion has a lot of issues: signs are up telling customers to limit themselves to a maximum of “2 meats” (of any type — only two packages of meat allowed). Very shallow stocking and some freezers entirely empty.
Whole Foods tells their well-heeled customers to please not buy the frozen vegetables at the beginning of the month, to save them for the SNAP/food stamp/WIC customers.
Independent grocers are fully stocked.
Trader Joe’s has more variability — sometimes they have wide displays of lettuce and absence of other veggies.
Periodic cream cheese shortages across all stores.
No buttermilk to be found anywhere. I don’t understand this.
So those 81-million voters must be happy with what they bought while screwing the rest of us.
I call them selfish self haters. Selfish because they have to bring us all down with them.
I have a hard time feeling sympathy for people who voted his into existence.
Only pain can break the spell.
You get what you Voted for
Orange man bad. Mean tweets. Joe is moderate unifier. If you voted for JoeBama you are very ignorant. Now your stuck with consequences.
We knew Biden voters were low info ignorant dolts, some of us just didn’t want to hurt their feelings.
Sadly, those answering the poll do not know what we know or those numbers would be far worse. The mainstream media has been successful at suppressing what is going on.
Ministry of truth
2021 to 2022 dissatisfied and very dissatisfied went down because…?!
They died?
Wife tells me our food bill (for 2 ppl – just her and me) has now risen over the past 2 months from about $140 per week to over $200 per week. This is for basically the same food list we’ve been eating for many years. We do NOT eat fancily nor do we eat much beef. Very plain, two meals per day (old ppl don’t need much food), single modest portions at meals.
We have no clue how young / middle age couples with multiple children (especially adolescent/teen boys who can seemingly eat their weight in food every day) can afford wholesome food at these prices. Unless they’re eating a lot of” hamburger helper” – our term for cheaper processed box food kits, they HAVE to be creative and resourceful to survive through this ridiculousness.
I wouldn’t worry about most younger folks, they are walking around in $150+ shoes, with $1000+ Iphones…. worrying about the next Jones to One Up, while planning their parties for the weekend.
GB, I do know what you eating, two old people here in ID between 60 and 90 per week.chic strips, fish, lasagna, soups, stew, fresh fruit and veggies. Do not buy a lot of non food items, we shop around for this stuff, groc stores have the biggest profit on non food items.
Well, I’ve got a houseful of teenage boys. And yes, they’ve got hollow legs. I’ve learned the trick is to cut back on the bread and sugar as much as you can. When my oldest son (now 23) was in high school, he’d get home from crew practice and eat 2 peanut butter sandwiches every night BEFORE dinner. As a family, we were still eating lots of bread, pretzels and sugar. Little tweaks have helped our budget tremendously with these younger boys. Think higher protein and fat, lower carb. Now they eat peanut butter with a spoon (or a celery stick). Chicken nuggets are eaten with high fat ranch dressing instead of ketchup. No more cereal in the house. Eggs are the main breakfast food. I will buy potato chips (higher fat content) for them, but I won’t buy pretzels or goldfish. Those are the tweaks I can think of off the top of my head but eating low carb has permeated our lifestyle so it’s more difficult for me to pinpoint the changes anymore. But most people would be shocked at how much more expensive a diet heavy on bread, cereal, pretzels and goldfish is compared to a diet that’s heavy on protein and fats.
Thank you Tess. Your changes are a great suggestion that more families should investigate. The junk food manufacturers (including dry cereals) know they are selling very addictive products because the sugars and starches create a strong desire in the body for more…
“When my oldest son (now 23) was in high school, he’d get home from crew practice and eat 2 peanut butter sandwiches every night BEFORE dinner.”
LOL. That brings back fond memories. That was me in high school in the late 60’s. In my case I was a distance runner (Cross Country, Track). My before meal appetizer was a triple decker PB&J.
Made me laugh, also, thinking about growing up with my brother….he would eat 4 baloney sandwiches before dinner…he ate his cereal out of casserole bowls….and he was a skinny, gangly teen!
I dont know why they call it hamburger helper, it does just fine on its own!
🤢
It’s supposed to stretch that little bit of hamburger that you have, which would only feed 2, to feed 4.
You’re welcome.
SW OH. Prices are up on everything. Fellow customers at Kroger’s are grumbling about shortages, mostly in the middle aisles. Perimeter, refrigerated aisles are stocked but overpriced. Blocks of cheese are the only thing holding steady.
I am freshly retired and also a packrat, with nothing else to do in the middle of winter, so I am going to review all of my Sams and Kroger’s receipts back to the start of the Jobama regime. I’ll report back in a few days.
Keep voting for it you dumb bastards.
Eventually, communism starts eating its own. We have arrived.
This is not going away, fuel prices remain at historic highs, but also fertilizer is up:
As of the first week of January 2022, the average retail price of potash was $807 per ton, 119% higher than a year ago.
Due to increasing natural gas prices, nitrogen fertilizer prices are relatively high compared to recent years and are expected to remain high and possibly increase through next spring, says Dave Franzen, NDSU Extension soil science specialist.
Also again, our dependence on China is part of the problem:
“China has supplied about a third of the world’s phosphate, and it has essentially banned exports through 2022,” Franzen continues. “That puts the burden of supply on other countries, including the United States.”
You can thank Joe Biden for all these problems.
Did you see the fertilizer plant that is till burning in NC ? Firefighters had to abandon the fire because of explosion risk. Not good.
Last year I changed what I was doing in my garden. Went from using a nitrogen based fertilizer to co-planting with clover. Then every two weeks added a cup of banana water (soak a banana in water over night) for potassium and a 1/2 cup of light beer for b-viatmins and carbs for the bacteria to each plant. Best garden in years.
Reminds me I need to order some new clover seeds for the upcoming season and will be expanding the garden.
Personal experience got me to thinking, progressive rural grocery with subsidized housing, a lb of deli roast beef $13.99.
Two days later, Few miles away…in a heart of America grocery, price was $7.99/lb
🤔 are we being ripped off?
Sundance wrote something about the ebt program that started me thinking 🤷♀️
I noticed 30 years ago that Walmarts in the poorer sections of town had higher prices. Same with the grocery stores. Why?
1) more theft/shrinkage (have to make it up somehow)
2) often have security guards onsite (higher labor costs)
3) more checkers, not seeing self-checkout as much in those areas because people punch in the banana code to weigh steaks (again, higher labor costs)
4) captive audience (poor people often have no way to get to a grocery store other than walking)
5) lot of EBT/food stamp users, who can “afford” to buy the high-margin overpriced crap
During the last recession, when my husband was laid off and it took 4 years for him to find another job, and we had exhausted all of our savings and all of the extended unemployment benefits, we were on food stamps for a little over a year. I planned my shopping trips like a military expedition, hitting multiple stores for the loss leaders, in a way that used the least amount of gas. I had the advantage of knowing how to cook from scratch and how to budget/plan/organize. We’d been a one-income family for years while I homeschooled.
Well here in CT went to Stop n Shop again this week.
and now there were bare spots in the shelves in pretty
much every isle and stuff on the shelves was one deep just
pushed to the front to make it look full..
Interestingly in the cat food isle which was literally bare
of canned cat food for weeks, they had some on the shelves
not fully stocked but a few varieties here and there yet the
dry cat food was pretty much gone..
Yet I can order my canned cat food thru PETCO and they
pretty much have it in stock. The canned Dog food brand
I use is now empty on the shelves as well..
I order cat food from Chewy.com (every 8 weeks) and they have been able to fill my orders for wet-food. Sometimes it comes from different warehouse locations. The Safeway I routinely shop at still has the dry food but almost no wet food.
Oh, golly gee…gaw shucks…he he diggity doo, what do you know?
Who’d a thunk it possible that shutting down domestic oil production, using a common cold to squelch economic activity, pumping money non-stop into the economy, and allowing hundreds of thousands of illegals to cross our border would have such drastic consequences…
Golly jeez….
Oh, and that was taken from Lindsey Graham’s press release for tomorrow…..SMH…I hate these people.
I buy Ensure Enlive by the case for a family member. The vanilla and strawberry have gone from $35 to $41 a case in the past year but the chocolate (on Walmart website) has jumped to $83 for a case of 16 bottles! I am now getting it from Amazon for $51 a case. There must be supply issues with the chocolate flavor.
Maryland, you voted for this.
3counties &baltimore city.out of 23
Have no fear, A little old lady at the grocery store yesterday told he that a manager told her that they weren’t restocking because it’s “inventory” time. She said it’s like this in all stores. That sure made me feel better 😂
There are states that impose and inventory tax at the end of each year.
B-b-b-but the government said that food inflation is fake news. Why are these people allowed to spread misinformation?
The fact that a network, even Fox, would show something like this says Joes days are numbered. They are going to dump him. And now they sre leaking. The table is being set.
Madam, the reason your grocery bills are so high is that blue mask you’ve got dangling from your ears. You tried to comply your way out of tyranny, and failed. Try something different: throw your mask away.
Don’t forget the democrats own the voting machines they don’t need the voters anymore.
Here’s some feedback for you Sundance. I’m unfortunately (not for much longer) in the people’s Republic of Oregonistan. My monthly food bill is about $200 higher, and gasoline about $350! Electricity and gas up about 5%. Oh, and the cost of construction materials has my profit margin down about 30%! I think After this year I will retire early for a while when I move and get involved in the local red state politics. Canyon County Idaho is supposed to be the most conservative in the country, and about to get even more so. I’m going to be leaving the home I built with my own hands. I almost break down, and then get mad as f**k thinking of what these a**holes have done to this state and the country. I would rather start over again in a community that reflects my values. The sheriff there is a Christian and from the interviews I hear on the radio there he sounds like my kind of guy.
Remember: Worse is better. If people will not listen, then they must feel.
The most amazing part of these negative economic developments to me is they haven’t slowed down the Dem Congress one bit in their efforts to further tank our nation’s economy.
This can only mean they remain confident they can do whatever they like to make the lives of our populace (including their own voters) even worse with impunity and still win future elections.
Now that’s scary!
Why should they slow down when they are so close to their true goal, which is the destruction of the United States?
And what do they care about winning elections, when they can just steal them with impunity?
These elites care not one whit about the people of the United States. They seek to destroy us. That is their end game. We cannot give them the benefit of the doubt. Democrat or Republican, it does not matter. Both parties are owned by China and globalists.
Never forget this.
I’d like to see that chart broken down by political party affiliation.
Oh no Hip Hop Chicken raised prices too? When you lose the rappers…
Ants and grasshoppers.
Only this time we ants won’t be sharing. We’ll remember.
Sure, I’ll sell you some. I accept gold, fuel, & ammo. Have any of that?
Election Fraud put Joe Biden in the White House.
The Economic Policy of Democrat politicians will economically
cripple the USA and demolish the Supply Chain.
Inflation will obliterate the buying power of the Middle & Lower Class.
