In Canada the health officials have now admitted they captured, without legislative authority, the personal cell phone data and geolocation data of 33 million Canadians.
As a result, and a little late all things considered, privacy issues are being raised about the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) buying the location data of Canadian cellphone users to monitor their activity. The agency said it wanted to analyze the movement of people during the pandemic to ensure their safety and well-being.

I also remember when vehicles didn’t communicate with every electronic ‘smart device’ that was part of a smart grid that also tracked you in addition to that ‘smart phone’ you keep within twenty feet of you 24-7. I remember too when every CCTV wasn’t using your biometric data to also track you. I also remember when there weren’t cameras in high flying drones and helium balloon low altitude satellites everywhere in the country. I also remember when everyone thought such things would never be used against the American people in general and when it was merely science fiction.

You must be over 40. I remember when camping was free, involved a tent and was in wilderness. People were not paranoid about not having an effing phone wherever they went and kids had fun outside. Think about it.
If I can buy data location, I can select a house and by examining the data, figure out who is who. I can then determine if you have been somewhere you should not have been. I can then blackmail you.

I thought I would post this again as it seems like it belongs here.
A little peek just around the corner. (my apologies for the length)
Larry hadn’t been to the store in many years.
His wife had passed several years ago and the last of the kids had just moved to another state so now he had to do his own shopping.
No problem, he thought “I used to do this years ago.”
Before the last kid left, he brought Larry a “smart” phone and set it up for him linking it to his bank account and telling Larry to “just hold it up to the scanner” to make a purchase.
Larry didn’t know that the wifi network in the store communicated with a built-in app on his phone which used bluetooth to access the data chip on his credit card and his drivers license to verify his identity, bank information, vaccine status and his credit limit as soon as he walked in the door.
Since his cell phone number was now his national identity number, the store knew his interests from his browsing history which Google had collected, compiled, sorted and made available to third parties (for a fee, of course).
The aisles in the store no longer contained merchandise, only 7 foot high LCD displays that showed images of the products that the store thought that Larry wanted and they changed as he and his smartphone moved down the aisle.
The store said they had to do this to prevent the daily looting but Larry thought it an odd coincidence that all the products that were displayed were items he had looked at online, mentioned to someone in an e-mail, or were marketed on one of the television shows that he was known to watch.
When he tried to check out and collect his selected items, the scanner told him he hadn’t met his “store minimum” because he still had $1275.00 available on his credit card and his “store minimum” was a percentage of that.
The scanner didn’t tell him that the checkout prices were determined by his income/social profile that they received with the other data so everyone paid “according to means”.
“The Store with the Heart” was their motto.
Stopping to get gas on the way home, Larry was unaware of the communication between his car with it’s full time connectivity, his cell phone and the hi-tech gas pump that retrieved his identity, VIN number, mileage, and last service date so the data could be sold to the insurance co’s, car dealerships and car repair facilities and given to DMV as part of the requirement for the station to retain it’s business license.
Unfortunately, while Larry was getting gas, DMV connected to his car wirelessly through the gas pump and disabled the ignition because Larry’s registration had expired the previous day.
Purely by coincidence, his phone now displayed a choice of tow companies to call, ranked according to their “social accountability” score and again, the price would be based on Larrys’ income/social profile .
That actually saved Larry a lot of money as he was thinking of stopping at a car dealer to look at new cars after getting gas and he didn’t have any idea of the disadvantage he would be at when dealing with a car salesperson who would have a complete financial dossier on Larry before he got out of his car.
I think Larry’s screwed and he hasn’t even made one phone call yet.
What has been happening for years now is the data collection behind the scenes tells creditors when a senior is in the hospital. Some creditors help themselves to the hospitalized individual’s bank account, taking extra payment to “help” the senior to not fall behind on their bills. In our case the bank that had our vehicle loan and the local electric company helped themselves to double payments. We were not in arrears, we always paid timely but $800 out without our permission or knowledge meant that we suddenly, with no warning, had no monies to pay our rent which is grounds for instant eviction. Fortunately we have an understanding landlord. So now we have to be old school and go to the bank, get cashier checks and snail mail them – we don’t let them have direct access to our account. Some day we will no longer be able to do this – probably soon – so I hope they clean up their predatory criminality – I can dream right? LOVE your Larry story. Hope you don’t mind if I share.

Another tactic might be to share cell phones, even by mail.
Let me understand this.
If you leave the phone in the bag, and therefore aren’t using it, you aren’t tracked.
But if you remove the phone from the Faraday bag to make a call, search something on the internet, or answer a call, you’re being tracked and then the bag is no good because you removed the phone, negating the purpose of the bag. What’s the point of using the bag but to then remove the phone?
Wouldn’t it be cheaper just to leave the phone at home?
The most likely scenario might be to have your phone concealed with you with the intention of giving away your location in the event of a true emergency.
Leaving the device at home is fine as long as you do not experience an emergency.

My brother commented on this a year ago. He tested positive in Jan/21 and was found to be asymptomatic. While under quarantine, he took his dog for a walk. The next day the Vancouver Police called him and said it was reported he was outside his area.

Actually, the first problem was getting tested. Oh, you though your test results don’t go the state, province or federal level? They even go down to the town level.
Check your town Board of Health on the internet and it tells you to the number of active positive cases in your town, how many have recovered, etc. Mine does.
