According to officials in New Jersey, President Trump’s rally in Wildwood was attended by around 100,000 people. This makes this political rally the largest “single purpose” political rally ever held.
Almost all massive political rallies are a combination of entertainment figures and the political candidate. Bands, singers and music concerts used as the hook to draw in massive audiences. Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and to a lesser extent Bernie Sanders, used this construct; almost exclusively using the venue of colleges and universities for the optimal visual impact.
However, in the era of President Donald Trump he stands alone as the single entity able to draw such a following to his political rallies, speeches and events. During yesterday’s Wildwood New Jersey rally, former NFL superstars Lawrence Taylor and O.J. Anderson of NY Giants speak for Trump.
I believe Byron Donalds would be the best VP candidate based on what we just saw here. The biggest potential growth area for Trump among the various demographic groups is with black men.
Some like Ben Carson (I do!). Some like Tim Scott, who maybe more polished politically though he’s from Establishment wing. I like Byron Donalds more than Carson because he can be a MAGA successor for 2028!
I think it’s important for Trump to have a clear successor in place at VP so that his term is not considered lame duck from the beginning. Carson is likely not able to succeed Trump. Tim Scott is not the successor that is aligned with MAGA. Besides, he’s likely to be the black version of Mike Pence!

Unfortunately Carson is for a national ban on abortion. That may put him out of the running.

I’m old enough to remember the years when abortion was against the law. Most of the people back then got married if the woman became pregnant (as in “they HAD to get married) – and I know some who had great lifelong marriages. The men knew that’s what they had to do. Of course, not everyone got married but women paid a heavy price for having a child “out of wedlock.” But they also called the shots. Unless she was raped, she decided how far to go and most women had the common sense or fear to see that it did not go too far. I believe men, in general, respected women back then. Today, not so much. Sometimes one must do what is right simply because it is right no matter the consequences. If we put getting someone elected for President over the lives of unborn babies, shame on us.

I heard an interview with a retired DEA agent who was a college football star in the 1970’s. He was invited to the NFL combine and was warming up with a couple of other prospects. They were from small schools, he’d never heard of them. Long story short – the DEA agent didn’t make the cut. The two guys he was warming up with? I don’t remember exactly WHO they were, but it was something like Jerry Rice and Lawrence Taylor. Two future hall of famers.
The story goes on, on his first ride along to serve a warrant with the DEA before he’s even gone to the academy the suspect runs. He was supposed to stay in the car but he joins the chase, quickly passes up the other agents and catches up to the suspect. “I wasn’t fast enough to play in the NFL, but I was incredibly fast for a cop.” The suspect shot him, he almost died, but recovered to have a very long interesting career in the DEA.

OJ, not so much? He’s a prominent member of the community, a business owner, and a known figure in the NY metropolitan area. Nationally, he may not be as well known as L.T., but that wasn’t Mr. Anderson’s purpose; his purpose was to show the local community, which he is a prominent member of, that it’s ok to support Trump, even if you are a black man (or woman).
It’s sad that it even has to be played that way, but 60-plus years and multiple generations of people being fed identity politics require it to be done. The only way to break the cycle.

This comment is not intended to take anything away from President Trump and the thousand upon thousands of supporters that come out to honor and cheer him on.
Back in the mid 1700’s Englishman Preacher George Whitefield came to America (Boston area) during the “Great Awakening” to preach out doors to crowds reportedly numbering in the tens of thousands. It seems American is experiencing a second Great Awakening. Although mainly religious in nature in 1740 it did have political overtones. Now the Great Awakening is mainly political but I hope it can embrace the need to put God back into our government and our lives.
Oh it IS religious and Trump is well aware that Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Reagan made it unequivocally clear that God had to be on the mast head for our ‘God given freedoms’, which cannot be revoked by any government, to be sustained. If God is out of the picture GOVERNMENT can give or take away freedom.
And since Trump, the new phenomenon that few note is the addition of prayer into the cultural conversation. The 20 years prior, there was none. 2001 had a brief resurgence of church turnout but no call for huge novenas and worldwide prayer.
Washington made it unequivocally clear of two things: 1) God MUST be observed as the omnipotent force and blessing overseeing this country ; and 2) He was firmly against a monarchy because he believed in the equal worth of all human beings…and this was more than proved when he called for the emancipation of the slaves he owned at his death…there was concern about how they’d make a living among other things.
It must not be forgotten that no country had ever begun without slavery and with equal worth attributed to every human being. What Jefferson and founders wanted could not at our inception be done because of, among other things, the back and forth contention that went on trying to get signers on board for our Declaration of Independence.
England had gotten rid of slavery, but their class system has had an oppressive effect just as much as any other country’s.
The entire history of the world has included slavery and not just black slavery and by the way, it has never ceased in Africa.

Those who feel the necessity to create a “racist” moment in time, are certainly aware of the different hues of all people. Others, who do not find it part of a meaningful discussion, usually have been fetched up with the philosophy of :

I said this Rally was going to be on fire weeks ago. New Jersey, especially South Jersey, is Trump country. I can’t wait to visit my home state again in July. It will be full of Trump signs like it was in 2016 and in 2020.

Safe to say thousands of us saw and never considered the amount of melanin making up their complexion, only smiled at the idea of an orange takeover in November.
I saw two guys who became rich and famous because of their natural gifts and hard work. Sports is one of the few meritocracies left in this world. Their success had nothing to do with their race. Race won’t help you or hurt you on the field.

Maybe focus on the number of people who turned out for this rally, 100,000 is the estimate, the most ever for a political rally in the U.S. … do you realy think they were all white? Of course not. Don’t focus on such trivia, focus on the astounding amount of support for this man who is willing to serve his country, uncompensated, and endure all the hate that’s directed at him in order to help us save our country.
Any genuine support for President Trump is a positive. I can’t see how anyone would question two popular retired New York Giants football players endorsing President Trump especially since the team actually plays in New Jersey!

I don’t care that other people express opinions that differ from mine, but reserve the right (within the boundaries set by our host) to ridicule them (in a mostly mild way) when I judge that to be appropriate and effective in communicating my opinions. This is particularly true in regard to my fellow Jews, too many of whom – IMHO – have been too obtuse for too long about Trump, MAGA, and political conservatism, to the detriment of themselves, their loved ones, and our society. Yes, I think that Jews who call Trump antisemitic (as Humphrey mentioned and as I’ve experienced from too many of them) are stupid and ungrateful. It is apparent that there are some people who post on this forum who have opinions about Jews that I find utterly offensive. Did you see OJ’s “Metro Exhibits” sweatshirt…and he referenced they (Metro Exhibits) brought all “this”- meaning the event planning. You do know that PDJT likes to see his friends to well financially and gives them his “blessing”. No one can attest to that more than Dana White.
PDJT is a generous man. I think he allowed him to take some much deserved credit for the event and at the same time he and LT gave a big endorsement to their friend, golf buddy and President.
