The aurora was able to be seen as far south as New Mexico, from what I’ve read. That has nothing to do with ‘interacting with the atmosphere’, and everything to do with the reduction of the earth’s magnetic shield. This is going to become a more common occurrence, as the magnetic shield continues to weaken (and the magnetic poles migrate).

Be careful of buying into everything Ben Davidson pushes. Yes the magnetic shield has been decreasing, more in recent years than previous decades. But that doesn’t portend the unsupported position Davidson takes that the sky is falling.

The “science” is that at some time a few millennia ago the sun either went micronova or had a huge solar flare ejection of plasma that hit the earth. Huge pre-flood granite statues that show on one side where the granite “melted”. That can only mean a nuclear explosion or plasma from the sun hit it. This may be why they’ve been finding whole cities that were carved out of dense rock for the population to survive such an event. I watched a documentary regarding the Government war gaming a potential attack from a small foreign country. The premise was if you were a small country with little financial means, how would you take down the United States. For the last 14 years the most likely scenario has been an EMP. If we are hit by a EMP within months millions will die. Think of the people relying on oxygen tanks, kidney dialysis and any ghost of other equipment keeping some people alive.
We would need all new transformers which take about a year to build and then they need to sit in their new location for months to acclimate to their new environment.
The man in charge tried to get a meeting with President Bush (jr) and Obama. They wouldn’t even meet with him.
Trump met with him and gave him the green light to go forward with hardening our electrical infrastructure and getting the transformers. No idea if that ever happened, but I doubt it did.

We are located in the southern panhandle of west Texas. We had a lot of cloud cover but could see a pink tint to the sky with our iPhones. An hour north it was slightly brighter but mostly only visible with the night feature on our phone cameras. Have always wanted to see the AB.

Friday night, the Aurora was seen as far south as the Florida panhandle. In Jacksonville, on the Florida northeast coast, I looked for it but did not see it.
However, surprise. Saturday night, while at work, I went outside for a break at 9PM. Looked northwest, and I saw it. It was blue, and it was starting to fade. I pointed it out to other people. It amazed me, but I was a little bit sad because it was starting to fade- if I had been able to go outside 5 minutes earlier, it would have looked a lot brighter. I was still able to take 3 pictures of it 😃 😍 🤩 which I will send to my entire family 💖.
My entire life I had hoped to see an Aurora. My biggest hope was when I was stationed for 1 year at the US Coast Guard Loran-C station in Hokkaido (which provided a navigation signal before GPS), the northernmost island in Japan. The further north you are (like in Hokkaido), the higher is your chance of seeing an Aurora, in the wintertime. But sadly, I did not see one.
And I finally saw one Saturday night while in Jacksonville, Florida. Which is on a latitude about 900 miles south of where the Coast Guard Loran-C station was in Hokkaido. Wow!

Am I the only person to notice that the solar flare incident notice from the government was hysterical? It read like the universe’s biggest EMP was going to be exploded over North America Friday. I made a note to myself: Nothing much will happen. And nothing much did.

I would have loved to see it and we drove around trying to find somewhere nearby with a view of the auroras but it was very cloudy here. I can only imagine how beautiful it must of been to be out in Joshua Tree at the time. We had no fear of this event having much of an impact on our tech. But we do need to keep an eye on our poles. Every 6500 years or so the planet goes through changes that could weaken our electromagnetic field for a time and this could in turn allow these kinds of incidents to have a much larger impact on our grid/infrastructure among other things.

First time I saw northern lights we were driving through the upper peninsula of Michigan late at night. That drive is a lonely, somewhat desolate drive, with few cars on the road going either way late at night.
So seeing a spectacular colorful display put on by God’s almighty hand was something to behold.
Back at home in northern Minnesota I’ve seen northern lights three times; the third time was on Friday night, and they were best seen looking into the southern, not northern, sky.
Very cool to see lights coming in and going out, appearing over a huge area of the sky that once held stars that shown brightly, and seeing them sometimes move from one side of the sky to the other in seconds.
The wonders of God are marvelous to behold.
personally feel most photos were edited and this information comes from a friend who in 2018 went to Iceland just to see the Northern lights, the odds of seeing pink hues are slim. I don’t buy it!

Uhhhh, as mentioned above by another commenter, HAARP announced prior to this that they were conducting experiments that would “create artificial auroras”.
As far as I can tell, this has nothing to do with a solar event, a CME, poles shifting or any of that. It was just HAARP doing weird things and was manmade, not natural.
