At first blush, this story seemed too bizarre to be true; alas it is not. [h/t Gateway Pundit] As noted by Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit, a few weeks ago the Salvation Army stepped into the social justice arena and began promoting the premise of white guilt.
According to an “internal study guide” from the charitable organization intended to “foster positive conversations and grace-filled reflection among Salvationists“, the white members and donors to the Salvation Army were requested to reflect on their inherent racism. According to the Salvation Army’s “International Social Justice Commission“, this was presumably of some charitable value.
Obviously, this request stirred up some controversy. In an era where the toxic issues around Critical Race Theory being taught in schools has been in the headlines, there is likely not a worse time for a charitable group to join the social justice cause and push CRT toward the aggregate public.
Many people were surprised by the decision of the Salvation Army to push the divisive issue of racism in what appeared to be an effort by the organization to enter the orbit of wokeism.
Quite frankly, I cannot reference a more ridiculous organizational decision than this example in recent memory. However, that said, while the original decision was nuts, the effort to clean up the mess they created for themselves is exponentially more nuts. Amid the backlash, the Salvation Army released the following statement:
[LINK]
The first thought of ‘what were they thinking‘, becomes compounded by realizing the Salvation Army is a partner with something called the “International Social Justice Commission.” I mean, seriously, what the heck is this all about?
Mistake one might be taking the intent of a historic organization away from charitable giving and into the toxic and divisive world of racial politics. Mistake number two is doubling down on the decision to engage with race in some ill-fated effort to establish politically correct bona fides.
If you wanted to completely destroy the guiding mission of a charity, the Salvation Army is showing everyone exactly how to do it.
I’m not sure what qualifications or prisms others use, but myself, as a donor, I want to see my money used by a charity in such a way as to care for people who are in the most need – and that has absolutely nothing to do with race or any other qualification. I am literally stunned by the intent of the Salvation Army in this mess, and their cleanup effort is even worse.
This is one of the biggest disappointments of the year, and yet, again shows that organizations can lose their entire purpose by following leadership making stupid decisions.
Jim Hoft follows up the issue with a highlight showing the Salvation Army is in a crisis now, because people are not giving to the charity at the time of year when the Christmas Season Salvation Army kettles usually raise a lot of money.
(Fox-13) […] Not only is the nonprofit organization short on donations, they also are in desperate need of bell ringers to staff the red kettles seen at businesses around the country. (read more)
Well, DUH! What exactly did The Salvation Army expect to happen?
Just give to the animal charities. Your local no kill shelter. Solves the problem!
No money…..FOR YOU!
Nobody was putting money in the bucket at Walmart when I went in and out today.
Very sad. Think of all the people who will not get helped. It is much easier to raid the coffers and burn down good organizations that help people than it is to build them and keep them running.
It is a no-lose scenario for the Marxists. Their going woke and going broke rids the planet of an organization that helps those in need and at the same time, they get to raid the funds and reputation of the organization to fund their propaganda, paying themselves handsomely for doing so.
The only people who lose are those who need it most.
Locate your local shelters and/or food kitchens. Give to them directly. That’s what we do.
My church asks us for donations for the local franciscans; latest was a hat, mittens, scarves tree because there are a lot of people in need.
So sad and so true!
There are many other good places to give money which help the needy, the SA is not the only Charity.
I sincerely doubt that those who really need help will go with out this season.
People will look closer to home and find ways to give any way.
Have always attempted to practice tithing. Also, have generally been at odds with the local churches we’ve attended over the tithing issue. We’re of the mindset it’s not our money in the 1st place and we’re called to be good stewards of God’s money. As such, higher pay and better facilities for a local congregation doesn’t have the potential for the return on investment as other Christian causes. If within the same 10% we called to give, we can choose to feed a bloated local church or support missionaries or mission organizations that are doing far more good for the eternal Kingdom of God, it’s really no contest. The same is true with any support of supposedly Christian organizations like the Salvation Army. NOT A CHANCE will we give one dime to any organization stupid enough to go “woke”.
you should really read Leviticus..the TITHE is solely to support your local church and is a return of GOD’s money to use for his purposes…many Christian organizations use Faith Promise giving that is referred to by Paul in several of his Epistles in the New testament to support mission work…it is in ADDITION to the tithe and is an OFFERING
Find needs in your local community and get together with family and friends and meet the need directly.
Back in the day, people would have “barn raisings.” People would donate and build a family a barn for their animals if it got hit by a storm. Its the essence of “community.”
I had the same experience at my local Walmart. The bucket was manned by what looked to be two very young teenage girls…..surprised me….
Everybody was ignoring the bell ringer where I was today, too. Makes me angry to think that my previous donations went toward paying the salary of some hateful SA diversity official who considers me a racist.
The Salvation Army has some anti-gay policies a few years ago. I think they went overboard trying to atone to the wokesters. Of course, the wokesters aren’t the ones who donate.
It only takes a spark to get a fire going. I figured they knew that?
Why would I give a single cent to an organization that SPIT IN MY FACE ???????????
I was told I was born one of God’s children, equal in the eyes of God. Apparently, that is inherently not true according to the SA.
By the time I was five years old (along about 1949) I was singing loudly with my Sunday School class on the Montana prairie, “Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight.”
And the crazy thing was, I thought was true….but my betters are now telling it is most certainly NOT true. (apologies to Martin Luther’s Small Catechism)
I never knew I was a racist until all this wokeness started. Geez.who woulda thunk.
who woulda thunk.
Not one of us who think!
my guess is, they hired some SJW in their marketing dept.
Marxists want to destroy all american institutions, and this was perfect guerilla warfare – alienate your donor base and destroy the institution
Such a shame . They were a big help after Hurricane Sandy.
Lets just remember not to blame the good volunteers and workers who had no say in the matter.
The people who are in most need will suffer because of ‘ woke-ism ‘
I was stunned when I first saw this. It’s a pity they had to jump into the social justice pool. They used to be one of the ones I considered worthy…not anymore though.
I think you mean social justice cesspool
We received another solicitation from the Salvation Army today. I put it directly into our trash can.
This year we are donating to the animal shelters that serve the areas ravaged by the recent tornadoes.
Their ignorance of what they stepped into, in this case, is not bliss.
For several years the only reason I contributed to my employer’s United Way campaign was because the Salvation Army was on the list of charities to which I could designate my funds (rather than the Left-leaning stuff that the United Way general fund would subsidize).
I’d already submitted my CY22 pledge. Fortunately, after this news broke, I was able to withdraw it. Nada to the United Way.
This demonstrates that they are run by partisan leftists…who normally know nothing about how a business is run.
Criticizing whites who more than likely give over 80% of their annual budget clearly validates this.
What exactly do they do besides drive a roach coach up to disaster areas offering free coffee?
Give local to your church or organization.
Yet it’s more than criticizing, it’s demonizing, it’s creating and sanctifying justification for bloody retribution, it’s setting the stage for a genocide.
Unforgivable.
I donated money and clothing for years. Not one penny from me ever again. I refuse to donate to charities that are political.
Don’t let social media blur your reality. Market research is your friend. If you do not understand your own customers/donors, your failure is on your own hands.
Among Christians at least, the word “gospel” is supposed to be capitalized when it refers to Holy Gospel. (Last paragraph; first line)
The author didn’t know this?
The proofreaders didn’t pick this up?
To me at least, this is almost as big a “tell” as the original fumble.
Indeed, their priorities are quite clear, goose-stepping retreat notwithstanding.
Inflation might have some influence as well.
I used to have a lot of respect for the “Salvo’s ” as they were the only mob that I ever seen that got down and dirty on the streets feeding the homeless and helping the drunks.
Now they are refusing to give food parcels out to those that havn’t been biojabed.
Not another cent from me ever.
I loved seeing the Salvo signs while touring Australia. Now refusing aid to the unjabbed? Is that what Jesus did during His time on earth? Miracles or grace or salvation only to those conformed, but not others?
Shame to the Salvo in Australia.
Now they are refusing to give food parcels out to those that havn’t been biojabed.
Wow!
Tsk-tsk, Salvation Army! And to think that this was the year when I was going to drop a gold coin into the kettle!
do your due diligence when giving to chastity’s. united way infuriated me.
In 2020, when all the riots were going on, and people were being intimidated right and left, I got numerous emails from charitable orgs that I had been affiliated with, for years, discussing how they were going to handle themselves woke-wise going forward and how we all need to do a better job looking in the mirror.
I cut them immediately and permanently out of my life. Bye, Bye.
Same with products from many companies who went woke at the same time, and any I hear about since.
Keep that sh1t to yerselves. I don’t want that hate in my house, and especially people who think they can preach to and judge me, all the while with their hands out for a handout. Disgusting!
I have the little ‘cards’ that say ‘One White Apology’ I am supposed to drop in the kettle in place of my donation but I just don’t have the heart to use them. And the poor bell ringers probably don’t know what is going on if they aren’t following conservative news. SA sure shot themselves in the foot and I wonder if they will ever recover.
Sans an unlikely fulsome and sincere repentance, they will never recover.
I always gave to these bell ringers. However with the current leadership and the mass phycosis infecting them and twisting their new gospel, I will never again give them one red cent. Not one. I have determined that with the fake make a wish group, toys of tots and now this, my family will only give to the need directly. Cutting out the middle man and his/her salary.
All these arose because people become to sorry and lazy to get personally involved. Moral of the story:
Get off your fat rump and and help your neighbor and stop depending on someone else to do your duty. It leads to corruption.
Remembering the United Way.
There’s a local person referred to as “St Grand” after the shopping avenue where they’d drop thousands in the kettles. I haven’t been over there to know if there are kettles and haven’t seen anything in the news. It was a multi-stage drop into several kettles comin up to Christmas.
Haven’t seen a cat do a face palm before. Ha.
Every Christmas I on the average donate a few hundred into the buckets.
This year I just said Merry Christmas & walked on by.
IF you have not seen this it is well worth your 49 minutes. It is a true story of the destruction of BLM/Antifa and took place in Chicago 2020.

An eerie recollection of the Oshe-devil’s, “To one who is given much much is expected!” came to mind.

Thanks for posting this.
I usually drop a couple hundred bucks in those kettles over the holidays,
This year im buying myself stuff instead
Ok – will not donate anything to them this Christmas to them. He doesn’t get it, that WE are the majority. We have the money.
One wonders if there isn’t a secret society all these woke companies and CEO types belong to? It seems they all subscribe to the same playbook by angering and alienating as many white people as possible and ruining their brand and reputations in the process.
( ( ( secret ) ) ) society?
The warning as to what the Left does to institutions has been out there for a while. They didn’t listen, did they?
Or, as a certain sage said earlier this year, “Everything woke turns to $#@%.”
https://legalinsurrection.com/2021/11/salvation-army-embraces-critical-race-theory-white-people-must-sincerely-apologize-for-white-racism/
“The guide, which was compiled and approved earlier this year by the International Social Justice Commission of the Salvation Army, aligns the organization with the ideology of the Black Lives Matter, antiracism, and critical race theory movements.
Defining “structural racism” as “the overarching system of racial biasing across institutions and society,” the guide declares: “These systems give privileges to White people resulting in disadvantages to People Of Color.”
. . . . Between 2014-2021, the Salvation Army received in the ballpark of $10 million from CSOSA, a federal agency that supervises adults on probation, parole, and supervised release in the District of Columbia. The federal agency’s mission is to “support the fair administration of justice in close collaboration with the community.”
Over the course of the pandemic, the organization received another $100,000 or so in emergency funding from the Department of Veterans Affairs for homeless shelter operations.”
The Salvation Army has a “International Social Justice Commission”…
Why?
Just… How MUCH 💲💲💲💲💲is snatched away from “The Needy” to support these “Folks” lifestyles…?
🤔
I’m one of many in my circle of friends and family that have given much to SA over decades–50 years. My brother even attended Sunday services with them for many years, but he too has joined me (and it looks like many others) in saying,
“Good bye” to fools.
Not just fools regarding solicitations of giving for giving, which they have obviously blown, but fools regarding the inherently flawed belief that some man in an office somewhere has the right or duty to advise ME, or YOU, how to think, how to approach your God, how to Forgive or be Forgiven.
What hubris! What Idiocy! What Racism.
Good bye, SA. Not a big loss, now that I reflect on it.
“This is one of the biggest disappointments of the year”.
Exactly my feelings. In a very crowded field, this story really stands out. I have asked my neighbor, who works with the needy in our local community, for the name of a family to whom we can provide a holiday meal and gifts. I will no longer donate to any organization who practices racism under the guise of “social justice”.
What a great idea!
Like most long term organizations they become institutionalized and then corrupt. Their quasi religious bent does not help.
What must Almighty GOD think as we question the color HE created each one of us to be……NEVER APOLOGIZE ……
I say to all you people who are part of this insane attempt to place shame and guilt on the color of anyones skin
please take this up with Almighty GOD ………. I dare you
HE created each one of us as a special and unique individual there is no two alike and we are all precious in HIS sight
I am just so thankful GOD Allowed me to exist and one day I will spend eternity in HIS presence. Grammy
while melanin content in our skin does individually shade us….”Color” is a product of environment…God created Adam, the forefather of ALL men and after him, Noah from whence the ENTIRE human line on Earth issued
Who did Cain choose to be the mother of his kids?
So there’s charitable value in my reflection of my white, inherent racism. Ok.
I reflected, I’m not racist.
Now on my 1040, I will establish my own charitably reflective monetary value. This is great. I will include it with my unrealized charitable donation to offset my unrealized profits.
Thank you Salvation Army, you bunch of dumbasses.
Why are you ascribing this to “Stupdiity”? I don’t see any stupidity at all. I see that the Salvation Army is a Left-wing organization. No more $ from me. Let them get money from some leftwing Billionaire. I can remember the Sierra Club leadership was bought off by a Leftwing Tech Billionaire. Maybe this has happened here.
I see their crap postings on FB and leave comments like “get woke, go broke” and “I’m too much of a racist for the salvation army”.
We have learned a lot in the last 5 years thanks to the election of President Trump…the Communist/Marxist agenda to destroy America, our history, our culture and our Foundation has been exposed. (Methinks a lot earlier than they intended)
Everywhere we look there is deep-rooted corruption; Federal Government (all of it), Public Education system (top to bottom), Healthcare system, Religion and now Charities…Thank God all of this got exposed when it did, more and more Americans are finally waking up and fighting back.
Let the International Social Justice Commission take over the bell ringing and donating to the Salvation Army.
I’ve left the United Methodist Church over stuff like this. Check out the UMC’s General Board of Church and Society webpage; it’s a disgusting display of Social Justice propaganda. The church is being run by extreme leftists.
The SA’s “request” for white donors to reflect on their white guilt came a couple of days after I put some cash into a kettle.
That is the last donation they will be getting from me.
I was always a little suspicious of them in the first place, but the research I did turned up nothing to confirm my suspicions, so I donated at times in the past.
Fool me once….
Certain groups are known for being lousy tippers. I’m guessing they donate to charities similarly. I am truly saddened that the SA has gone the woke route. I will be donating more to my local church as a result. (and keeping a close eye on their expenditures.
not surprised – if the leadership was smart and on top of things they wordnet be working for the SA. Their corporate offices may be nothing more than a social jobs program. Mirroring their clientele.
My mother always spoke about how great the salvation army was growing up. They apparently helped my family get through a really tough time in the late 80’s when my brother and I were very young. My father was hurt at work and did not have any pay for months. My mother is a remarkable woman but could not provide and raise 2 toddler/infant with only her pay. She said the salvation army was there for us when no one else was. I almost do not want to tell her. Sad thing is it’s everywhere now. White people are easy targets because we have no institutional power and what power we do have we won’t utilize.
For years I worked alongside local clergymen of the SA. In most cases they possessed a superior attitude which preceded their dramatic fall. Prophetic.
DC, Your comment is a good preface to mine. Decades ago in a major NE metro area I discovered a former executive (vested, retired, rehired, vested again) in large municipal utility, then the CEO of an employee mutual aid society, receiving two more than adequate pensions, a salary and likely social security, was also chairman of the society’s credit union (another compensation stream), and a senior executive of the metro SA. My then interest was in “disclosures” required in financial statements of one of the entities. Now I do not know if or to what extent the individual’s incomes were donated to the SA, but the situation / circumstances while not illegal in any sense was sketchy because of the lack of and resistance to required disclosures. … I believe there are many good, moral people who have worked with and for the SA, but that situation long ago and the recent “wokeness” make me highly suspicious of the organization’s leadership. … It is very upsetting and I pray the SA rank and file can affirm their true purpose.
hoping that rank and file of the SA will right itself is like hoping Mike Bird won t kill any more unarmed white women… good luck with that that
This one hit me hard. I have been a faithful donor to SA in so many ways for so many years because I believed in their mission. But I went cold turkey as soon as word got out and I am waiting for them to correct their mistake with a never to come sincere apology before I return to giving.
That said, it hurts me that real needy families will go without this year and that I am, by boycotting, contributing to it. So I will try to make it up by donating to local food banks but it won’t be the same.
What the hell possessed them? What is it that has crept into their culture? It’s such a damn shame.
Me too … I’m done … let them fill their kettles with non-white donations.
Agree. They don’t want my white money.
A fish rots from the head.
There are other organizations. But as someone who gives at least $200 to SA between Thanksgiving and Christmas every year, they have gotten their last dollar from me.
Guaranteed, if there’s any apology from the current SA leadership, it’ll be a lie. A SA apology is not enough without a complete change in SA leadership.
it s sorry as in sorry we got caught, you d think they were an arm of the demcraps
They listened to the serpent.
So well said. And spot on. This is what a Godless society looks like. Satan, the father of lies, has been welcomed with open arms.
maybe later like 2040 or 2041
Levi asked the question, What the hell possessed them?
Maybe hell does have something to do with leadership decisions.
One of their higher-ups that calls the shots clearly went woke. In the case of Chick-fil-A, we know it was Dan Cathy specifically.
I liked CHick-fil-a and went there nearly every week. I do still go but maybe twice a year; meant to go last weekend and by the time I was done shopping forgot.
exactly! what the HELL possessed them
yes, for sure, they are not in their ‘right minds’
Tell the Salvation Army to go recruit and seek funds from the Black community. That way they don’t have to deal with “racist whites.”
