There’s not much you can do except hunker down when winds of this scale start hitting the coastline. Hurricane Ida is about to make landfall along the Louisiana coastal region with winds in excess of 150mph. A very strong category-4 storm, with massive storm surge potential. The hurricane force winds (the buzzsaw) are approximately 100 miles wide. Anyone who needs help, feel free to reach out in the comments section, or send us an email and we will do everything we can to assist.
NHC Report – At 1000 AM CDT (1500 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Ida was located by reconnaissance aircraft and NWS Doppler radar near latitude 28.8 North, longitude 90.0 West. Ida is moving toward the northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h). A slightly slower northwestward motion should continue through this evening. A turn toward the north should occur by Monday morning, followed by a slightly faster northeastward motion by Monday night and Tuesday. On the forecast track, the center of Ida will make landfall along the coast of southeastern Louisiana within the hurricane warning area within the next few hours.
Reports from NOAA and Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicated that the maximum sustained winds are near 150 mph (240km/h) with higher gusts. Ida is an extremely dangerous category-4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Some slight additional strengthening is still possible before Ida moves onshore along the Louisiana coast. (read more)
Hurricanes can be frightening; downright scary. There’s nothing quite like going through a few to reset your outlook on just how Mother Nature can deliver a cleansing cycle to an entire geographic region. If there’s one positive aspect to this storm, it’s the daylight as she makes landfall…. at least it ain’t night.
Telephone and power poles, yes, even the concrete ones, can, and likely will, snap like toothpicks. There’s a sound when you are inside a hurricane that you can never forget.
It ain’t a howling wind, it’s a roar. A damn scary raging roar that just won’t quit….
It will quit… eventually… but at the time you are hearing it, it doesn’t seem like it will ever end.
A constant and pure rage of scary wind that doesn’t ebb and flow like normal wind and storms… hurricane wind just starts and stays, sometimes for hours.
This type of wind is relentless and damn scary. It takes you to that state where you begin to doubt things, it just won’t let up.
And then, depending on her irrelevant opinion toward your insignificant presence, she stops.
Then silence.
No birds. No frogs. No crickets. No sound.
Nature goes mute. It’s weird.
We have no idea how much ambient noise is around us, until it stops.
Oh, if she wants, she’ll keep dumping buckets on you as she wanders away. Buckets. Not pails, garbage can sized buckets. After the scour, yup, nature too has a rinse cycle.
Prayers for all those in Ida’s path.
Pray together, and be strong together. It might sound goofy to some, but don’t be bashful about prayer – it works.
It will be ok.
Stay safe
Praying for everyone’s safety .
Prayers for abundant mercies (and for bureaucrats not to make things worse with restrictions on assistance cuz virus)
Has the Biden Regime ordered all FEMA personal out of the area leaving locals to fend for themselves in a hostile environment on their own yet?
They’re working on it, in fact we’ll find out that they’ve never worked so hard on anything in their life.

“And their eyes were watching God.”
DiscloseTV.. “JUST IN – 911 system outage in New Orleans ahead of Hurricane #Ida.”
Remember in 2005, the New Orleans police went door to door seeking people who rode out the storm in their homes to force them to comply with the forced evacuation ordered by the government. As part of the effort, the officers were also confiscating firearms.
Now with Covid.. get ready.. This is going to be a major test of how far they can push things.
Think they will be herding foks into the dome again? They are already in the top 5 for COVID. And if they do, do you think they will have learned anything from the past dismal failure?
LOL they are run by democrats, so is your question rhetorical?
Fyi.. Those first responders were searching homes inundated by 15 feet water or more to see if any occupants had survived!
Re. Hurricane Katrina, 16 years ago on this date, Aug 29, ’05.. But this one’s a different kettle of fish, without the leading 30 ft-plus wall of water, thank God!
Thank you for that warning, we have to guard our freedoms!
this is deep south Louisiana.
that might fly in the big fat easy.
people KNOW the police IN these normal towns…literally grew up with them..HUNT WITH THEM!
there are no social justice morons dictating to anyone.
it would never be tolerated…
we have our own rules down in the brulee.
rule number one..check yourself.
other rules always refer to 1.
so while it might be important to discuss the danger of a tyrant government bent on taking guns, liberties, freedoms…this area belongs to us.
of such a nationwide effort should gain success for the Corruptors…it’s places like south Louisiana that will be the last outposts of a free people.
we have every intention is keeping it that way
and SO DO OUR POLICE..
noting:. general honore during a visit to lake Charles yesterday decided to get on a soap box and begin to talk shit about the oil industry here…he got run out of town faster than a scalded cat.
the people are different here..
we don’t rely main stream anything to make our culture.
we rely on God, family and the bayou.
as it should be.
as it will always be.
Reg,
I used to be in the oilfield industry and worked with a lot of Cajuns. Generally they were smart, hilariously funny people who had a VERY strong sense of self-reliance and initiative. Having them on your team in a project they bought in to was always a major help. Trying to get them to do something they didn’t think made sense…well, let’s just say it was like herding cats, except with the cats being able to swear in two languages and tough as a woodhauler’s boot.
Yep, I like Cajuns. God bless and be with those folks down there in this latest dustup.
On our way to Mass three hours ago, the wind was coming from the north. Praying we get just rain here in NELA. Yes, pray!
I am here is Thibodaux, LA and the gust and deteoriating weather is here. Due to call schedule we had to stay so it was not a choice. Prayers for everyone are appreciated. Curfews are in place for the surrounding areas.
Dang.
You may get the eye.
Praying y’all stay safe.
Thank you Lollie. The eye will give me a chance for dog breaks. Lol. There is always an up side to everything.
Yes. And quick assessment. Just don’t get caught out when it comes back around.
Second half seems to be the worst.
God bless you and keep you from harm.
God is with you!
Praying for you. It’s a shame that Sundance has to say praying “might sound goofy to some.” A few days ago, Menagerie had to stop comments on her thread asking for prayer. Awful.
Yes, prayer does work – and it is even more powerful in unison. Hopefully, this storm will make believers out of some who lacked faith. Many of us will be there with you in spirit. Please come back safe and let us know you’re ok.
Shutting down the prayer part just goes to show you how the tree has been infected over the last 2yrs
Never be ashamed to stand up for what is right. People come and go, but truth and God are forever.
Amen, brother.
Yes! I thought the same thing. God is good and I could never be ashamed to honor him.
Will definitely be with you this night, by the power of the Holy Spirit, praying for your protection, comfort and peace — that passes all understanding in this storm.
Not just the last 2 yrs but at least since the Civil Rights era started. If you’re on the plantation, you can’t go to church. Because the koolaid they give you on the plantation demands you give up your belief in God.
Most of the whites doing the plantation’s business didn’t even notice the price they will soon pay. And it is coming.
May God keep you Treepers safe!!
He will never leave us or forsake us,even to the end of the age.We plead the precious blood of Jesus over all of us.We ask Our Father to surround us with the fire of His Holy Spirit as a hedge in Jesus name,Amen.
Amen and amen!
Prayers were requested and prayers were being offered . . . but the comments had to be closed with one of the horrible comments left as an example . . . the Treehouse IS still a praying place but I appreciate the moderators taking a stand re comments . . .
prayers around the clock
CTH is in the eye of the prayer storm!
I didn’t see “the horrible comment,” but I’m used to hearing prayer-naysayers chime in.
Usually, they are spiritually wounded and are lashing out. The only proper response is praying for that person without announcing it. I saw a bumper sticker on a dump truck the other day: “Nothing fails like prayer.” I don’t know what that truck was hauling, but it was more than junk. When a person is filled with sadness and possibly anger like that, there’s only one response.
C0ki,
You understand that we never REALLY know what burdens others are laboring under. Some people have had things happen in their lives that made them incredibly angry at God for allowing those things to happen. They may carry that anger with them to the grave, and lash out at everyone they encounter until then. That doesn’t make them any less children of God, it just means they have yet to find a way to reconcile their experiences with His will.
Be careful around them, because they can be very dangerous, but try to find in your heart some sympathy for people who are so badly damaged. They almost certainly didn’t set out to end up that way. God’s mercy is infinite, and he WILL dry all the tears, but He will do it in His good time, not ours. Until then, we have to be as patient as we can.
Yes, PJ. I was stunned at some of the comments on Menagerie’s post. Comments had already been closed or I would have responded. I stand firm in my faith and no longer will silently let others – non-believers or lukewarm/apostate believes (Rev 3:15) make comments which I believe harm others in their faith or harm the non-believer who is seeking.
Prayer is always our first line of defense/offense.
I hope Ad Rem stepped in and showed a few th exit door.
I concur.
Matthew 6:33 — “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.”
This makes it clear how we should have our priorities, turning to God first, just as a child in need would do.
Scripture seems to emphasize the importance of praying and asking according to God’s will:
James 4:3 — “You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, that you may spend it in your pleasures.”
1 John 5:14 — “And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we might ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”
Some prayers aren’t answered the way people want — even when offered sincerely from true believers, as in the case of Paul’s prayer concerning the “thorn in my flesh” (cf. 2 Cor. 12:7):
2 Cor. 5:8-9 — “Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me.”
God is trustworthy to give us the grace we need, and calls us to ask Him for it:
Luke 18:1 — “And He was speaking to them a parable about the way it behooves them always to pray and not to lose heart” (Parable of the persistent widow, Luke 18:1-8)
Eph. 6:18 — “Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers for all the saints.”
James 4:8a — “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
Hebrews 4:14-16 — “Therefore having a great high priest having passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, we should hold firmly to our confession. For we do not have a high priest not being able to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one having been tempted in all things by the same way, without sin. Therefore we should come with boldness to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.”
Thank you for the Word.
Matthew 10:8b — “Freely you received; freely give.”
?
I feel such sadness for people who do not know Jesus.
I can’t imagine going through this life without Him.
He, alone, sustains me and gives me hope.
Amen, prayer does work, but you must have the faith of a mustard seed which is a tiny thing.Jesus prayed against the storm and all those with Him said what manner of man is this that the storms obey Him.We must have that kind of faith. Our job is to pray to the Father in Jesus name and what Jesus did Hcommanded the storm to cease and it did. There is also strength in numbers ,we all pray in one accord watch the Almighty God move into action.Father,in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth ,we come against this hurricane and we command it to dissipate, lose its power and cease to function.Father ,we thank you and praise you and worship you.In Jesus name, the name above all names Amen.
Most folks have no problem with prayer but at for me and my house we are done with Big Evangelical ( Bib Eva ). Praying ALWAYS the first best thing to do.
.
One can Love and follow the Lord but not not put hope in “preachers”.
.
Many blessings to all that are riding out this storm.
.
Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen. Romans 15:33
Even better–He’s not just “by your side.” He’s INSIDE, united in spirit with those who are born again.
Praying for everyone’s safety!
Awaiting for approval.
Praying for you.
Prayers for you, your family and your community.
HUNKER DOWN BROTHER.
Your safety will be remembered during my rosary today.
Prayers. ?
I will be praying for you, my friend. Please reply to your thread in a few hours and let us know how you fared.
lafourche bayou will flood everything… you take care and when the opportunity exists begin making your way out using that main bayou as your boat ride to the disaster response centers…it going to be weeks before normal happens…the flooding is going to make it a problem getting you help.
tomorrow am, there will be boats and bullhorn announcing plans to get everyone out…pay attention and get out…waiting will only make things worse..just leave it all behind ..
the outlook next week is heavy rain and very hot…even the most durable will have problems making ends meet.
pass the word
Prayers sent.
I was supposed to drive west along I-10 from Florida through Texas. Definitely rerouting northwards.
Praying for everyone in the path of this weather event.
There is more leadership in your articles than in the entire Biden administration. Thank you.
For many years Sundance/CTH have provided
guidance for this region affected by hurricanes.
Also, Sundance/crew coordinate an effort
to assist their community in recovery/rebuilding.
Leading by example/Sundance is a true patriot.
Continued prayers for everyone/God keep you safe.
God Bless Sundance and like minded Patriots.
Amen!
Paused and said a prayer when I saw the headline. It sure spun up into a doozy. At last, the climate fear mongers have another big storm, one they have probably been praying for but, unto whom who knows. I kind of expected it to come in below expectations after the way Fred kind of fizzled out and never able to get it together. The season still has a few months left.
Dear Heavenly Father You can calm the storm or you can let it rage. Please dear Father watch over those who are in the midst of that rage and bring calm strength and peaceful renewal. In Jesus Name I humbly pray Amen.
AMEN

Interesting that they haven’t boarded up any of those windows.
Thank you for that! Praying here in So. Cal. (We aren’t all lost here! lol)
Port Fourchon is the biggest Oil & Gas port in the US and accounts for 16-18% of the US oil supply.
____
The inner eyewall of #Ida is moving onshore near Port Fourchon. Note that a concentric eyewall cycle is in process, which usually makes the peak winds lower, but causes the #hurricane to get larger overall

(Don’t tell Biden, or once it’s repaired he’ll shut it down..)
GOD bless you all in LA and may the angles of the lord be round about.
I just now heard a Faux news live on the ground report from New O explaining how Ida blew up so quickly the wasn’t time for a mandatory evacuation. SAY WHAT? I have been following this event for a week and they didn’t know it’s coming????
Parroting what the corrupt mayor of New Orleans said. All the water carriers for the commies have their identical scripts.
Yes they media is protecting the incompetent mayor because she is one of them (angry communist, incompetent and knows it.) That loser has been parroting Obama and Stacy Abrams for a year with her words like “re-imagine.” That keeps the media helping her. Meantime the city is now more dangerous, corrupt, more feral people, less tourism. This hurricane will be exactly what they need to keep the Federal dollars flowing.
I live in New Orleans. Mary Ellen and I have been in Meridian (far eastern), Mississippi for her work this week, and we decided to visit Vicksburg and Natchez, MS (far western MS, north of New Orleans and Baton Rouge) on the way home. When the hurricane news came up on Thursday, we decided by Friday evening to stay inland till after the storm passes and not try to go home yet. So we are staying outside Natchez till Tuesday morning, and then will reevaluate whether to go home or not. So I have power and internet and can do my regular online work for now. We are 100+ miles in off the coast, so it should not be too bad. If we lose power here (she works online, too, and needs internet and electricity), we will drove to the Florida panhandle and stay there for a few days. Where we are says they have a generator and underground-wired internet…
Prayers for all along this coast and special one for little Pass Christian. I worked clean up after Katrina, and that little town stole my heart.
Right after Katrina my husband and I volunteered rebuilding a medical clinic in Moss Point, Mississippi, I’d guess about 50 miles east of Gulf Port.
We were housed by a relief agency in Biloxi.
We were shocked at the devastation.
A major highway bridge between Biloxi and Ocean Springs was toppled as though it were made of a deck of cards, and many miles inland a church steeple lie on its side on the ground.
Buildings and bridges can be replaced. I cannot imagine what it is like to ride out that kind of storm with those kinds of winds, but I pray God’s peace that passes all understanding — when there is no understanding for what is happening all around us — on everyone in this storm.
Pretty much to be expected. As a kid, we moved to Slidell right after Betsy and shopped at the commissary in Biloxi. Saw the devastation then and again, after Camille. Long-timers there should know what to do but you do have to worry about the new Blue-state emigres.
I have experienced all natural disasters. Not fun. Even worse when the local, state and federal governments are inept and corrupt. With covid scam being rammed down our throats, you can bet the state and federal government will do everything they can to trample our rights even more.
Prayers for everyone and everything, here and in Afghanistan for those working to help others.
You’re a good man Sundance

Man! I sure hope Ms. Angelette is broadcasting remotely and is not there on site!
Flying debris WILL KILL YOU, and with wind speeds exceeding 100 mph, there will be a LOT of flying debris. STAY INSIDE!
Amazing that a 160 mph hurricane is coming ashore some 70 miles from here (Slidell, LA) as the crow flies, and all we’ve seen thus far are some rain showers..
Please pray for those living south of here who are directly in its path.
160? ? so it became a cat 5?
Timbalier Bay.. Fourchon..
..been there.. done that..
Grand Isle LA is getting hammered right now, but the camera continues to roll
gone now 🙁
ALicia, 83 Houston. Eye came right thru the city. 4 hours of rage, 45 minutes of peace as the eye passed over , then 4 more hours of rage. praying for a fast downgrading…..
Nothing like priorities during a life-threatening hurricane. Faux 8 talking heads concerned about trash cans scattering trash, oh my!
No worries as there will be human carnage, trees down, houses demolished but trash, oh no!
They will not dare question Latoya the Destroya about not issuing a mandatory evacuation.
Latoya the Destroya . . . that is so meme-able!
This is the horrific choice people are facing due to the evil great reset lockdowns of B*den et al.
Pray for this person and others in this situation.
“privilege to evacuate” always the buzz words. Sorry if another hurricane heads my way I am getting out period. Everything else be damned. Anything can be figured out if you live. I was in the lowest category a one that started right at midnight and I was very scared. And the sound was loud and came and went like the ebb & flow of the ocean it was spooky. I lost power immediately and the wind broke something off my roof that kept pounding on the side of my house. No electric for 3 days. That was my only experience with a hurricane and again it was a cat 1 which is nothing compared to anything right now but I will not stay for any more.
Hurricane Tracker App on Twitter: “Top image is #Katrina making landfall on this day 16 years ago and the bottom is #Ida on the cusp of landfall. #Ida is 25 mph stronger in terms of wind speed. History trying to repeat itself today. Prayers for everyone affected by #Ida this week. https://t.co/ChO3p7QAAG” / Twitter
@NHC_Atlantic
has declared landfall of Hurricane #Ida at 1155 am CDT as a Category 4 hurricane with max sustained winds of 150 mph and a minimum central pressure of 930mb over Port Fourchon.

Praying for all in harm’s way of this storm.
Road out Camille years ago. You are correct, its a roar and more rain than you have ever seen. I began to wonder if we were going to need Noah and boat before it was over. I had two tiny children and a husband on active duty away from home. Scary does not cover it.
So here goes another couple trillion in debt, let the fleecing begin
Live coverage channel:
When Sandy winds really came thru for us it was night. We were at back door and heard sounds in the darkness like fireworks and zipper noise and wondered what is that?
In the morning realized it must have been the trees and their branches ripping apart.
Godspeed to all in Ida’s path.
Superstorm Sandy was a giant monster, it took up the whole Atlantic it seemed. The walls of my house were breathing in and out hours before that storm hit.
The calm *before* the storm was SO eerie.
And then all those people against the moonlit sky, silently wading through seawater, as homes flooded at high tide.
And that wasn’t a hurricane!
I’m praying for those in Ida’s path today. ?? ??
Sandy was a hurricane.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Sandy
Not at landfall. In fact Sandy was a post tropical storm at landfall.
Three times in the last 60 years, the “eye” of a hurricane passed over my location. Weird to stand in calm sunshine and witness the the wall of wind and rain surrounding you.
Hurricanes in the northern hemisphere rotate in counter-clockwise direction. As the “eye” approaches, wind is from the east, as it passes it shifts from the west. Another aspect of the storm center.
Help is on the way. More to follow. Stay Safe. Be Blessed. Prayers Continue.
Linemen don’t get enough credit… these guys routinely go to other places to help after storms and disasters.
my dear friend from Prairieville LA spoke very highly of and with great admiration for those boys from North Carolina who appeared in the area to restore power (which also required clearing roads, removing half-fallen branches)
Dear Lord please help those that are effected with the Hurricane Ida so they are safe from harm. We ask you Lord Jesus to heal America from harm both from Nature and communism that is effecting those that mean this nation harm.
We Are Granted Rights by you and ask you Lord to shield US from those that wish to enslave Americans now with there lies of Safety. They don’t do what they preach to us and flaunt our laws and don’t do what they say.
All Christians please repent and ask the Lord in Heaven to have mercy on US that we may remove the yolk of bondage and restore freedoms and worship you Again Lord.
In Jesus Name we Pray.
At least it’s hit it’s peak and is not strengthening. Still 150 mph maximum sustained winds but the central minimum pressure was at 530 mb and is now showing 533 mb. So a long slow downhill slide in the power of the storm is starting. Not that it will make much difference to those under it today.
I remember in the early 70’s we were out in a cyclone in the South Pacific in a 36′ sailboat. We sheltered in place. Nobody ever left the boat.
Looks like my city (Monroe) is now listed as marginal (rain). At the moment, the sun is shining and I’m ready for what may come. Prayers for those in the direct path…
Have a good buddy living there now. I wish you all the best possible outcome.
Retired Magistrate here: In our little country church today we prayed for those in the path of Hurricane Ida and those American citizens and Christians that are still in Afghanistan; that GOD would keep everyone safe in the eye of the storm and get American citizens and Christians out of Afghanistan.
“We cannot get along without prayer and meditation”. “I pray that I may choose the right way. I pray I may follow it to the end”Am I sincere in my desire to do Gods will today?”
Rumor… Later retracted.

“Then silence”
This is so true. More so right before the storm in my experience. Eerily quiet. Nature is hunkering down.
Then you lose power and it gets even quieter.
