I am really interested in the opinion of this story from readers who remember the era, tactics and strategies of former GOP consultant ¹Lee Atwater. I cannot read this bizarre and unstable story without thinking about the stuff Atwater used to do….
The Tampa Bay, Florida, area congressional seat currently occupied by Charlie Crist is going to be vacant as Crist runs for Florida Governor in 2022 against republican Ron DeSantis.
As a result there are many people lining up to run for the Tampa area congressional district. One of the leading republican candidates is Paulina Luna who lost to Crist in 2020 (local election ballot fraud not withstanding).
However, a story in Politico today outlines a lower-tier GOP candidate threatening to kill Paulina Luna if it looks like she will win the primary. The entire story is beyond weird, including how and why someone would have begun recording the conversation in the first place; then the goofy story is delivered to lefty Politico exclusively (ergo very Atwater-esque).
MIAMI — A little-known GOP candidate in one of Florida’s most competitive congressional seats was secretly recorded threatening to send “a Russian and Ukrainian hit squad” to a fellow Republican opponent to make her “disappear.”
During a 30-minute call with a conservative activist that was recorded before he became a candidate, William Braddock repeatedly warned the activist to not support GOP candidate Anna Paulina Luna in the Republican primary for a Tampa Bay-area congressional seat because he had access to assassins. The seat is being vacated by Rep. Charlie Crist (D-Fla.), who is running for governor.

They might have been considered dirty at the time, but it’s primarily because Atwater was the first republican to fire back at the democrats using their own tactics, which was unheard of at the time. Lee Atwater was a very passionate young man from South Carolina who advised President Raegan. He was known as the rocking republican because he played lead-guitar. He died young in 1991. One of the worst things that could have happened to the Republican Party. Just look at the trajectory ever since.

Lee Atwater formed the Raegan Strategy that won 49 out of 50 states (and Raegan really won Minnesota too but they gave it to Mondale because it was his home State and the campaign had class). They used to attack Atwater mercilessly back then because he was the brains behind the operation. Just the normal democratic tantrum because he was good at what he did. Just like you saw with Trump. That was also a period of time when politics was much more mild. Just look at Watergate which Nixon didn’t get away with and compare that to Stealing the 2020 Election which the democrats did get away with. We all loved Lee Atwater.
Just because he was effective and worked for Reagan doesn’t mean he wasn’t also dirty and underhanded in his tactics. It’s a bad idea to equate success with righteousness simply because they’re on our side.
On the outside chance that the recording is a fake, intended to destroy the alleged callers credibility in the upcoming election. That IS something Atwater might have done in his early days. He had quite a reputation.
I haven’t ever heard Braddock’s voice outside of this alleged recording of him so I can’t opine if the recording is fake.
Correction: He had quite a reputation within the gang of Democrats and their MSM adjunct, which really did operate as an information monopoly. CBS, ABC, and NBC were all we had for electronic media back then.
I recall the DemocRATs and their media allies repeatedly complaining about Atwater and his “dirty tricks.” . He was quite infamous because he worked for Reagan’s campaign, another conservative President absolutely hated by the Left. There is more to this story. If I received a threat like that, I would take it to the police, not Politico. My first suspicion is that this could be a hoax, a made up created story by Luna to bring attention to herself and campaign.

I’m going by memory, so I’ll probably have to fix this. But I thought there was a police story and that it was part of what made it sound EXTREMELY bogus or frauded up in some fashion.
What I remember is that there was a part of the article that claimed that “FL law requires this or that very stiff penality for recording someone without her knowledge but the police assured her it was totally ok in her case.”

Someone is lying. No, police actually can’t tell you to break the law and they don’t do that if they are not corrupt.
4) They go OUT OF THEIR WAY TO BRING MATT GAETZ INTO IT, AND TRASH HIM, AND MAKE IT SOUND LIKE A “FL PATTERN” AND they try to call him a sex trafficker which is the bogus total lie being pinned on this man right when he went to Newsmax to tell them he had proof the Bribed-en State Dept was giving tax money to cartels and corrupt “charities” also human trafficking.
5) DID SHE GO TO POLITICO??????????? Why? Someone said SHE took this to Politico. If that part is true, she’s corrupt. Since I don’t know if that’s true or how they got the story I will say no more until we know.

In my view, this was a setup and is to be used to say “see? both sides do this dirty stuff!” And why would they say that?
Perhaps they know some particularly damaging (to Democrats) news is about to break and, as usual, they want to get ahead of it.
Remember when Facebook suddenly started allowing discussion of COVID19 origins? People knew something was up but wasn’t quite sure what. But a week or two later, the Fauci emails were released with some redactions and almost immediately people went straight to the Facebook CEO email where he was offering to censor people at Fauci’s request. They knew the FOIA was going to be released, they secured the “trade secrets” redaction (completely inappropriate) and then it was released for the world to see.
This feels like they are getting ahead of something and they wanted to “see? both sides! both sides!!”

What I find suspicious is the woman’s reference to “Marines” (about 5:15 in) and that she knows how deadly they are from being with them in the Middle East. The man was talking about Russian mafia hit squads, not U.S. military actors, so how did she turn that into Marines? Is this part of the plan to demonize current and former military along with Trump supporters and all other conservatives as “potential domestic terrorists” for upcoming elections? This also continues the bogus narrative that Russians and Ukrainians interfere in elections and collude with Republicans. The entire conversation sounds fake, much like the political ploys used against people like Eric Greitens in MO. This guy is bragging about how he can call for hits on opponents but at the same time makes sure to say things like he’s a “humble servant of God.” Right. God wants people to have political opponents disappeared.

Makes me wonder whether Ashley Moody (Florida State Attorney, her father is federal district Judge Moody) will do anything. Hopefully, Ron DeSantis and Ashley Moody will both investigate. This is happening in their back yard. Not sure how I stumbled on this article today, it popped up on my screen. But Sundance said he was interested so I will throw in my two cents. I don’t know a thing about Luna, so I’ll start with that. But…. Luna is the Dem’perfect candidate, is she not?. Remember when the Dems were trolling for ex-military to run? Wasn’t that about the same time Luna came on the stage?
Let’s face it, Luna is the perfect package. Tulsi or AOC…only even better. Tulsi Gabbard blew it because she had a few thoughts of her own and expressed them once or twice. She was immediately toast. IIRC, one of HIllary’s minions sent her an email and told her so.
If at first you don’t succeed. I’m guessing that as a model, she’s concerned with image than politics. Be interesting to know what her thoughts were before she rocketed forward with the full Tulsi treatment.
Anyhow…the fact that they gave it only to Politico makes me suspect that they just want to call attention and maker her stand out as being the candidate dumb conservatives REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want cause she’s so darn good and conservative that her opponents want her dead. Giving to only Politico allows control over how the narrative is shaped for the major media. Don’t want too many questions to be asked on how the tape was made or other odd details.
Let’s face it, if Politico ran with it instead of burying it, then we KNOW the left wants the story out there. Why would the left want to call attention to this perfect avatar? If they were afraid of her, they would ignore.
