Most CTH readers are likely aware of the term “deplatforming.” Unfortunately, the big tech control mechanism to shut down speech & assembly has now arrived on our doorstep.
One week after the 2020 presidential election, The Conservative Treehouse received the following notification:
…”given the incompatibility between your site’s content and our terms, you need to find a new hosting provider and must migrate the site by Wednesday, December 2nd.
What does this mean? It means CTH is being kicked-off the WordPress website hosting platform because the content of our research and discussion does not align with the ideology of those who define what is acceptable speech and what is not.
What was our violation? After ten years of brutally honest discussion, opinion, deep research and crowdsourcing work -with undeniable citations on the events we outline- there is no cited violation of any term of service because CTH has never violated one.
The WordPress company is not explaining the reason for deplatforming because there is no justifiable reason for it. At the same time, they are bold in their position. Perhaps this is the most alarming part; and everyone should pay attention. They don’t care.
Truthful assembly is now the risk. CTH is now too big; with a site reach of 500,000 to a million unique readers each day; and with well over 200,000 subscribers; our assembly is too large, too influential, and presents a risk… we guard the flickering flame.
Ten years of work assembling a library of factual citations and explanations of those discoveries, positions CTH to be a leading force in the rebel alliance push-back. [Heck, that’s why this place was started… that was our purpose: “The Truth Has No Agenda.”] However, that also makes us a target; hence the deplatforming.
Accepting -at its core- this move is all about politics, this is yet another reference point in the tenuous nature of where we stand. There’s no hate-speech on this website; there’s no graphic, violent, foul or abusive speech here. The ‘content‘ of the Treehouse is the same discussion that happens around your kitchen table or back porch discussion with friends. We would never cheapen or insult that conversation with vulgarity because that’s not who we are… because that’s not who our nation is. So consider this next part very carefully…
The ‘content’ is not compatible with WordPress, the world’s largest website and blog hosting service. The content within the largest blog on that global platform is what has become troublesome. “The content”.
The content on these pages is simply an ongoing discussion about freedom with criticism against any political party or entity that diminishes it. Apparently, immediately after the 2020 election, that discussion became problematic. After writing about the COVID-19 agenda,…the notification: the website will be removed.
Let that settle in…. friends and adversaries alike. Think very hard about what exactly is being represented by these actions. That’s the bad news.
So what are we going to do?
First three priorities: #1 is the security of the site content and research files with over a decade of work; #2) ensuring the ability of our assembly to remain; #3) continue the mission.
In the past several days I have begun contacting people to inform and gather counsel on what is the best course of action. On a very positive note, the Rebel Alliance is stronger than ever and no amount of effort by Big Tech is going to be able to weaken the resolve or block the message.
We will take this challenge head-on and we will use this attack against our freedom as fuel to launch CTH 2.0, a new version of The Conservative Treehouse.
I have no idea yet what it will look like… hopefully not too dissimilar to what we are already comfortable with. However, a lot has changed in the technological world since 2010/2011. There are many new and innovative ways to develop, build and create proprietary platforms.
I don’t like anything about having to be forced to do this. Readers here know I prefer comfortable quality that lasts a long time; but there is no alternative. We are being kicked-off WordPress and will have to assemble on a platform that allows free expression, free thought and free ideas to be shared, valued and appreciated.
Additionally, as I look at preliminary options for Treehouse 2.0, one guiding element is priority: I will continue to work earnestly to be deserving of your support and fellowship.

However each of us got here, it’s probably a fact that we have the turmoil of those storms in common, perhaps some unease that we could share and always, we also find fresh ground to cover from day to day. We’re developing valuable relationships as we trust one another in our community in the woods. The chatting in the branches encourages, strengthens and equips for some serious walking.

I’ll add a fourth thing that makes me cry as well as the 3 you mention. The cheating and harm done to all of us conservatives as we see the cheaters and liars getting away with their sh!t day in and day out and good guys such as our Lion and Gen. Flynn get the shaft and nothing is ever done to these corrupt people. They always seen to get away anything and everything and many end up with cushy jobs and write books and make even more money.
Where’s the justice? I’m sick and tired and sad as hell that the bad guys always seem to win. With “WordPress”, you are confusing us web builders because WordPress is the name of a web building machine. Is it WordPress.com that has done this horrible misdead? Please be more specific. This is an escalation of censorship, de platforming in this manner.

This latest move reminds me of the way that local news sites (like MA Live, MLIVE, Cleveland.com to name a few) eliminated user comments. That was where anyone could comment below anonymously. Often times the reader comments would fill in the story with real news. They would even correct the fake news. This infuriated the information gatekeepers. They herded everyone into Facebook where they could still comment, but it had to be public. That way any divergence from approved news could be squashed.
It is likely wordpress.com. WordPress.com has deplatformed others at Gizmodo’s instigation in 2019.

Yahoo was the same. They had to remove the comments as it exposed the complete inaccuracy of nearly all their reporting.
Yes, it’s a real travesty that CTH is being evicted by its hosting service without reasonable cause. While grossly unfair they have the ability to do it and shamefully they are doing it.
However “WordPress” is two things, the hosting service (wordpress.com), and an open-source software project (wordpress.org). The latter is used by many millions of sites that have no connection to the wordpress hosting service.
Whether using WordPress software is the best way to build a website is a matter of developer preference. As one who has built elaborate sites IMO WordPress is inefficient and needlessly complex. But in line with tools for any task it does have a place. Conceivably CTH could be quickly migrated with minimal changes or disruption to an independent site running a WordPress instance.

I used to love that site until they changed who they used for the commenting section. Now, I will read some articles, but it’s just not as much fun when I can’t interact with the readers.
Before I went sleep last night, I thought about you, Sundance, and the mention you made earlier in the day about happenings with The Conservative Treehouse that you would let us know about later. I knew something big was up. We all did, I’m sure.

Same here on trouble with wordpress. If 200,000 subscribers gave ten bucks apiece to sundance that would be a good start. Why not host your own site on your own servers, sundance? Eliminate the middle man.

Thank you for hosting us on this Pirate Ship you call the Conservative Treehouse. Any good pirate knows from time to time they must discard the old hull and upgrade to a new one.
This may be a good time to reflect on how much travelling took place and how many ports were visited on that old hull. Not to mention how many new travelers/treepers (like me) joined you along the way. Quite a journey!
I am confident that, while there may be some adjustments and tweeks over the next short period of time, we will all be back together in another port sharing stories from across the globe and enjoying each other’s rum (or at least some of that bacon wrapped turkey).

Finding another Platform is not the problem. Well…yes, it’s a problem/hassle….but the real problem is having a Platform that allows SD to post his information in a readable way…AND provide the ability for readers like us to comment and discuss.
WordPress did that. It included as a feature the ability for individuals to get WP accounts and then comment on Treehouse content.
I’m thinking that THAT is as of concern to SD as having a place to host his site — he wants a site that allows and perhaps provides intrinsic commenting capabilities.
I’m not technical enough to know how big a deal this is to find. I do know that there are many sites that use the DISQUS system to allow comments. I know that the WSJ is using a system, I think called “LiveFyre”, to provide commenting capabilities on what they post on line.
Anyway — as a few other folks said: it would be useful if some big deal legal type would help SD “pro bono” to sue WP to get them to specifically state what TOS was violated, and specifically how — get them to admit they did it because of the content of the Treehouse as being antithetical to their POLITICAL interests.
May I suggest someone ,Sundance ( although she is quite busy, as a member of the President’s legal team now) . The beloved and brilliant Sydney Powell! ! Sundance, words cannot express what this site he’s meant to me. Just knowing your not alone is priceless. I imagine that you, like me were shell shocked by the election. Millions of patriots prayed that the Lord would expose the fraud of the evil one. I was devastated to see the scope of the fraud and know that our DOJ and FIB and even the judiciary would be no salvation. We know 97% of DC voted Biden. The Lord has chosen this for us, we will continue to build our rebel alliance or we will be crushed like the citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah. We don’t know his will, but we do know what we must do. I think starting a new site is less of a problem than making all the existing content accessible and readable in a new format hosted somewhere else.
Pulling and pushing all the existing content is a huge task.
It can be, particularly if windows based. Linux is much easier to migrate.

Businesses always rise to fill market needs, even from detested groups. The sort of ideological intolerance of the left is also bad business, as they attempt to silence opposing voices. They cannot succeed in the long run. Even the Soviets could not succeed in completely silencing opposing voices. Perhaps “big tech” thinks it can up the Soviet game but it too shall fail.

interesting thought wish I was technically more savvy. I wonder if something along the lines of the old chat rooms could be set up. State specific DM allowed used to be a ton of it available on the internet. Some of it looked to be pretty lightweight as far as band width requirements.

The bottom line is that you still own the URL, i.e. ‘theconservativetreehouse.com’ . All you have to do, as you’re aware, is go to your domain server and redirect the URL to another location that you’ve set up.
For years I used my own URL’s and hosting, meaning I was hosting on an independent server which I paid a few $$ for each month or year, and was in total control of content and files. In theory they could delete my files but they’d be taking on a hell of a lawsuit from my end. You can take that a step further by setting up your own server on a mainline backbone connection.
I used an FTP server to upload and modify files. Not rocket science.
Lots of work to switch over but in these times it’s probably the best idea regardless, you’ll have full control in the future. ‘Pay me now or pay me later’.
The same happened to Oath Keepers a while ago as Discus shut them down for similar reasons, citing ‘hate speech’ on their PRIVATE platform.
I’ve had WordPress recommended to me by several developers so I’m glad to hear this now. I’ve put several projects on the back burner because I’ve KNOWN I’d be deplatformed at some point in time simply due to conservative content.

My suggestion: find hosting and platform services from outside the country. There are two places I’d start looking for these: Poland and Hungary.

Look into hosting colocation services. These places have multiple redundant high speed internet connections, redundant cooling, redundant power, and depending on where you are hurricane rated buildings. Arrangements vary from provide your own hardware and install it in their racks, to they provide all the hardware. Usually the racks are locking and if you want you can get a caged area enclosed inside a chain link fence, walls and ceiling) You probably need to start out renting a quarter or half rack of space and supply your own servers running wordpress. Using your own servers gets around a hosting company muzzling speech they disagree with. Unless your servers are used for cyber-crime I think the colo service doesn’t care what you do with your servers. More up-front work to setup, but worth it.
