Most CTH readers are likely aware of the term “deplatforming.” Unfortunately, the big tech control mechanism to shut down speech & assembly has now arrived on our doorstep.
One week after the 2020 presidential election, The Conservative Treehouse received the following notification:
…”given the incompatibility between your site’s content and our terms, you need to find a new hosting provider and must migrate the site by Wednesday, December 2nd.
What does this mean? It means CTH is being kicked-off the WordPress website hosting platform because the content of our research and discussion does not align with the ideology of those who define what is acceptable speech and what is not.
What was our violation? After ten years of brutally honest discussion, opinion, deep research and crowdsourcing work -with undeniable citations on the events we outline- there is no cited violation of any term of service because CTH has never violated one.
The WordPress company is not explaining the reason for deplatforming because there is no justifiable reason for it. At the same time, they are bold in their position. Perhaps this is the most alarming part; and everyone should pay attention. They don’t care.
Truthful assembly is now the risk. CTH is now too big; with a site reach of 500,000 to a million unique readers each day; and with well over 200,000 subscribers; our assembly is too large, too influential, and presents a risk… we guard the flickering flame.
Ten years of work assembling a library of factual citations and explanations of those discoveries, positions CTH to be a leading force in the rebel alliance push-back. [Heck, that’s why this place was started… that was our purpose: “The Truth Has No Agenda.”] However, that also makes us a target; hence the deplatforming.
Accepting -at its core- this move is all about politics, this is yet another reference point in the tenuous nature of where we stand. There’s no hate-speech on this website; there’s no graphic, violent, foul or abusive speech here. The ‘content‘ of the Treehouse is the same discussion that happens around your kitchen table or back porch discussion with friends. We would never cheapen or insult that conversation with vulgarity because that’s not who we are… because that’s not who our nation is. So consider this next part very carefully…
The ‘content’ is not compatible with WordPress, the world’s largest website and blog hosting service. The content within the largest blog on that global platform is what has become troublesome. “The content”.
The content on these pages is simply an ongoing discussion about freedom with criticism against any political party or entity that diminishes it. Apparently, immediately after the 2020 election, that discussion became problematic. After writing about the COVID-19 agenda,…the notification: the website will be removed.
Let that settle in…. friends and adversaries alike. Think very hard about what exactly is being represented by these actions. That’s the bad news.
So what are we going to do?
First three priorities: #1 is the security of the site content and research files with over a decade of work; #2) ensuring the ability of our assembly to remain; #3) continue the mission.
In the past several days I have begun contacting people to inform and gather counsel on what is the best course of action. On a very positive note, the Rebel Alliance is stronger than ever and no amount of effort by Big Tech is going to be able to weaken the resolve or block the message.
We will take this challenge head-on and we will use this attack against our freedom as fuel to launch CTH 2.0, a new version of The Conservative Treehouse.
I have no idea yet what it will look like… hopefully not too dissimilar to what we are already comfortable with. However, a lot has changed in the technological world since 2010/2011. There are many new and innovative ways to develop, build and create proprietary platforms.
I don’t like anything about having to be forced to do this. Readers here know I prefer comfortable quality that lasts a long time; but there is no alternative. We are being kicked-off WordPress and will have to assemble on a platform that allows free expression, free thought and free ideas to be shared, valued and appreciated.
Additionally, as I look at preliminary options for Treehouse 2.0, one guiding element is priority: I will continue to work earnestly to be deserving of your support and fellowship.

These so-called social media platforms that are all somehow free have always been nothing more than opt-in surveillance systems. They were developed by quasi-government entities with non-appropriated money and operate similarly.
Their business model, or lack thereof, should have told us everything we needed to know about them from the start. Any service or product that is supposedly free to consumers can only mean one thing: the consumer IS the service…the consumer IS the product. I’ll be the first to admit I was too late to this realization.
Now it’s coming home to roost, We need to start thinking about these systems for what they were designed to be and what they have always been: OPT-IN SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS, and NOT “social media”.
Whatever system we end up with, it CAN NO LONGER be “free”. It MUST be a paid service. We must reclaim our position of authority as consumers and free ourselves from being the commodity. We have to start thinking about a facebook type of platform for liberty, but have it be a service we pay for with money and not with our freedom.
This is a good point – we are too conditioned to FREE – anything worth having cost something….
We can cry, bitch and moan all we want but that will do no good. All of the freedoms guaranteed in the Bill of Rights will no longer exist should Biden actually take the oath of office. At this point I pray for Divine intervention in whatever for He deems appropriate. Amen.

One feature that I would love to see in CTH 2, is the ability to subscribe to JUST what specific posters here put up. Now, maybe after the election gets resolved this won’t be necessary. But the site is now SO popular that its impossible to keep up with all the comments. And some of the pointed force is being lost in the volume.
I would love to be able to check off the handles from those whose remarks have been particularly insightful, and just pull up their (collective) recent posts. (“Faves”) Perhaps a “Show in Context” that displays a particular post in its context (redirect to a permalink).

This is upsetting, but I must note that with some degree of fairness WordPress has at least given you notice, and has not immediately denied access to your content. but given you a deadline to migrate the site to another hosting service. As a long term Treeper, I see this as something much deeper and darker. Sites like CTH with an open means and expression of Christianity is bound to be under attack. You can call it censorship, which it is attempting. But, on a much wider basis, limiting or eliminating this site falls in line with the attack on Christians world wide. I do not see this as a bad thing. If we all had the left’s world view we’d be celebrated, which of course we’re not. That can only mean in someway Sundance, CTH and us Treepers represent light in an ever increasing dark world. Truth is the thing rulers of darkness hate. Carry on the fight with whatever it takes to keep exposing those that want to silence us!
The easiest path is probably to be on your own WordPress server, with good defenses and without a middleman to be beholden to. We set people up with such things at work – feel free to gimme a shout if you need help. Suddenly everybody is waking up to owning their own destiny (and infrastructure).
From there you can syndicate to Parler, Fediverse, run a Tor endpoint, etc – all things you’re not usually allowed to do with WordPress.com. And even maybe replace the whole thing, on your schedule.
The layout is quite different from WordPress, and that’s probably a turnoff for many but Minds.com is otherwise and excellent platform privacy and freedom minded groups.

CTH has an Alexa traffic rank of 23,000+ which is huge (my web site is 170,000 after 10+ years). This is a valuable site that can be monetized, which you don’t appear to be doing now.
You can host your website on a private server to get away from the whole corporate thing. The problem there is security, but I think that can be addressed. It’s not big money, you just need the server.

thedonald.win is a very different layout. I’m not sure it is as user friendly as WP and that is a low bar. Reminds me of Q with more trash posts.

The best revenge is living well. You can relaunch on a better platform you control and monetize yourself. You were too big for WordPress hosting anyhow, consider this a blessing in disguise. I am baffled as to how a site of this size has survived for so long on WordPress hosting anyway. WordPress hosting is wholly inadequate for what you are doing. For those unfamiliar with WordPress, it is open source software that does not deplatform. WordPress hosting, on the other hand, is a shoddy service providing WordPress software on their servers. They are not sufficient to host a site like yours, and WordPress hosting is not optimal for as many comments as the users here make. I would be happy to provide you something better in a matter of hours if you pay for the hosting yourself. Contact me.

I have one ready to go. Don’t fall for weird server hosting companies or other Charlatans. All the bad advice in this thread is frustrating.
Sundance, I stumbled into this blog during the Travon Martin debacle as luck or divine intervention. In any case the first thing I noticed is that everyday starts with the Lord’s Prayer. Where else would one want to be. I am not an IT guy nor a horticulturist but I pray you are able to transplant this tree to a safe place. It has been my refuge for many years now and is the only place I feel completely safe. As an old guy hanging out on a limb I rarely post but read everyday. Wow, we have waited much too long to expose and confront these totalitarian run web platforms. They now own and run everything! They are so bold that they don’t care who or what they confront, including congress or even the United States. We are losing our great country to leftist tech giants and their lackeys. Couple of facts. 1) CTH can simply move web hosts and has the option of lifting and loading the whole thing intact and exactly the same. There are plenty of other web hosting providers that support WordPress blogging software. The website URL can simply be redirect via DNS to another hosting provider IP address. 2) Now is an opportunity to create CTH 2.0 as Sundance indicated. Does that mean it will be WordPress or some other blogging backend platform? Well that’s the decision that needs to be made. It’s more work to migrate the content to another system but plenty of alternatives to WordPress offer transition tools. The site could use a redesign with improvements.
Relax, wordpress.com is not the only hosting provider there are a thousand choices. Blogging is not at all like Social Media. CTH is not going away, it’s just moving to a new data center.
Yeah, WordPress.com is probably the worst host. Once again, I am shocked they were using it. Last time I will say this, then I will leave this frustrating thread of bad advice:

I hate to say this but eventually conservatives, libertarians and even truly tolerant and open-minded liberal thinkers (i.e., classical liberals) who detest censorship will have no home anywhere on the existing internet. We actually need to start setting up a completely separate internet NOW while we still can, which can be theoretically be done with existing technology using wifi mesh networks & peer-to-peer. It will be really difficult and hard to extend to rural areas or even suburbs where there are not enough like-minded (or at least open-minded) participants to have any overlapping WiFi. We’ll have to think & work hard to circumvent those limitations. But it can eventually be done and well have to be done. The people who have the technical aptitude to design this and do first setups need to start SOON, while we can still communitcate relatively unencumbered.
Which ever hosting/web company supports CTH will be the recipient of massive amounts of business, no mistake about it.
And it’s humorous to see WordPress think it’s wise to boot so many thousands of people off its site. I’ll never visit WordPress… what else is there to see here, cat fanclubs or ‘virtual’ travel blogs?

Any chance someone can dig up a copy of businesses that use word press? I’m all for boycotting businesses and letting them know that I refuse to do business with anyone who condones word press censorship. Everyone needs to think about what they support. Dump your cable, facebook, twitter, google, and anything else that supports censorship.

Just curious if WordPress is just kicking out TCH from their for pay website hosting servers or are they totally denying TCH the use of WordPress software on any other hosting company’s servers anywhere else in the USA or the world for that matter which have WordPress available for websites that they host. Can anyone clarify this? If they are just being denied use of the WordPress website hosting servers, from what read, migrating the WordPress files to another company’s servers while tricky and costly sometimes, can be done rather straight forwardly, from what I read. But then I’m not an expert. Again, can anyone clarify more eplicitly what WordPress has done in a more layman’s language. Thank you in advance.

The WordPress software itself is “open source”, and is free to use (with usual licensing terms on the software itself).
wordpress.org is a site dedicated to the WordPress software itself… documentation, forum, etc.
wordpress.com is the WordPress-specific hosting service operated by Automatic…. https://automattic.com
With a non-free wordpress.com account you register (or bring your own) domain, which is where you get the TCH domain.
So the WordPress software itself is free, and can be pretty much hosted by any web host service… for example DreamHost, 1&1 IONOS, etc. The problem MAY be that your eb host provider may be a dick about hosting a WordPress site that they don’t like or are pressured into denying service. I think we saw that with Alex Jones and some others over the past couple of years.
In fact, you could get a business plan from an Internet broadband provider… CONCAST, Verizon, whatever… buy a couple $2,000 Linux boxes (or Macs or PCs, for that matter), and run your own WordPress site out of your house. You need to do all of your own IT, of course, but it’s perfectly doable.
On that note, one thing you’ll get from a dedicate operation like wordpress.com (Automattic) is a degree of scaled IT support… not only software and hardware lights-on, but some degree of intrusion detection, denial of service, and the like. Plus all the other value-add, of course.
So… lots of operations… but a P.I.T.A. to be in this situation to begin with. WordPress dot com is butt-hurt… boo freaking hoo. Pathetic, really.
