While it might seem frustrating to see republicans and conservatives demanding that President Trump stop talking about the greatest act of sedition and usurpation, within our Constitutional Republic in the history of our nation, this espousal by Andrew McCarthy is factually a very wide-spread opinion within the DC beltway:

I have shared by own thoughts on this matter several times; and despite knowing this issue may not/will not drive the 2020 election; in my own contemplation I keep coming back to this central question: How can this be ignored?…
… How does the office of a U.S. president; and more importantly the republic itself; survive a coordinated coup effort involving all three branches of government; while simultaneously those in charge of exposing the corruption fear the scale is too damaging for them to reveal?

This is my first post to CTH and I am posting because I completely disagree. This is a core issue with regards to our republic surviving and transcends personal desires. It is critical that the truth be revealed and the guilty punished. If it is ignored and swept under the rug, it will be attempted again.

I concur Luke. Victory on November 3rd is paramount. We could indict them now, but if Biden wins, they all go free and none of this will matter. And right now too, most people care more about jobs, getting kids back in school, and the needless misery brought forth by the stupid shutdowns…I’m not sure they’ll care right now.
To answer SD’s question, yes justice must happen. If they walk, they’ll just be emboldened and still only one election win away from permanent rule. One day they’ll win the White House and it’s over for our country unless America sees how truly awful this was and understands just how close we are/were to unstoppable totalitarianism. Right now with so many people still hypnotized by the MSM and social media giants’ false information, they won’t believe it without indictments. I think he can go quiet on it until after the election, but still have trusted allies working to identify and gather documents. Let the guilty drop their guard and then come out strong after the election. Purge the stallers and anti-Trumpers who continually put up road blocks. Use acting department heads if confirmation is an issue and rotate them between departments with one goal – declassify and release.
I kind of tend to agree, but only between now and Nov 3. Most of what is publicly known about Russiagate is probably already baked in the cake as far as the election goes. People either accept it or they don’t. So concentrate on other things that have the potential to swing voters, such as Biden saying we don’t have the right to know whether he supports packing the SC, pounding away on their lies over fracking, highlighting their support for rioting and looting, the duplicity and bias of the debate commission, etc. The campaign needs to be more economical and focused with their messaging. Don’t spend too much time on issues that have little more potential right now to move the needle.
On the other hand, if something new and big about Russiagate comes out, then by all means pound away on that too. And after Trump wins the election, pick it back up again and go after all the Russiagate perpetrators to the absolute max. But the only objective right now is to win the election.

The Republic survived the assassination of JFK and we are still waiting, 57 years later, to learn the truth. We can surely survive a FAILED coup attempt that has not yet run its full course.
Those in charge of exposing the coup corruption are on the right path. The paucity of criminal consequences is maddening but Justice comes in many forms and should not be tied to election cycles.
Having said that, I agree that the scale of corruption is off the charts and AG Barr is right to consider the consequences of full exposure. But I trust the honey badger will reveal and/or dismantle all the plotters in due time and put protective measures in place to avoid abuses in the future.
