Prior to all the Title I through C (100) regulations instituted by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), many could simply work their way through an undergraduate degree.
Do you see any school systems delivering outstanding values thanks to the governments’ thumbs on their administration? We still have high school graduates who can’t read or, for that matter, do basic math sufficiently well to see that those students loans are the biggest rip off facing their financial future. Most aren’t sufficiently educated in other subjects such as the sciences to counter the massive propaganda they face daily by the corporatized and politicized media.
Further, what kind of a rip off do the taxpayers face, not to mention the businesses and trades who have to seriously educate all those applicants failing to meet the requirements for entry employment?

Like many, I’ve written so many words here wrestling with, and trying to reconcile what’s going on with our government.
The bottom line is this: Our American Project is built on the fundamental premise that the People’s judgment can and must be trusted for self-governance. All elected or institutional authority is DELEGATED.
Which means that the would-be protectors of the Republic are lost if they focus on institutions, and not People. It actually is just that simple. If they have convinced themselves we cannot be trusted with the truth, they are not entitled to our delegated authority. End of story. These leaders are actually proving to We The People that the institutions they feverishly want to protect CAN and MUST be disintegrated. There’s nothing necessary or inviolable about them; what’s inviolable is the authority of We The People.
Elected and institutional authorities need to fear us again. Anyone “trusting the plan” must realize if you trust a delegated authority, even a well-meaning one — there is no need to fear us. Fear comes from realizing we don’t believe them any more, that we won’t abide what they say or the actions they take, that our consent cannot be molded or cajoled.
We need to remind, and convince, our fellow citizens that these institutional actors are not our protectors; they should never be trusted, and they should fear us.

This was before the 2018 elections and I always wondered if the Republicans would have kept the house if POTUS hadn’t listened to RR and had gone ahead and declassified. At the time, IIRC, RR’ counselled” against it to save allies such as certain five- eyes members from embarrassment over their involvement in the coup attempt. I tend to think it was mistake not to declassify then- as you say, POTUS was impeached regardless.

I think we’re all underestimating the power of the intel enabled deep state/establishment. Trump is a fluke as any other individual would have been crushed. Examples litter the political battlefield. Consider those close to or in support of Trump, virtually all have suffered. The way forward certainly demands Trump victory, but the fight will not be over. We’ve seen they are willing to destroy the nation to retain their power and control.
Substantive changes must happen. First accountability, some/any at any level. Next is restructuring. If an institution like the FBI can be so corrupt and no one can provide oversight to correct it, then it must go. That is what we witnessed. DOJ is another. Finally, some of the functions must be flowed to other or new organizations that are less powerful and held in check.

Very few people are actually complicit in any given abusive operation, but those in charge actively hide them from everyone else, and intimidate everyone else not to ask questions, not to be a “conspiracy theorist,” not to “jeopardize their own career.” “Keep your head down.” “Nothing to see here.” “Move along, move along.” Those not in the inner circle feel powerless to do anything. The CIA Act of 1949 exists but I don’t know if the above powers were included in that Act.
If so, have those powers ever been challenged to the Supreme Court?
Replying to my own post above…This supposedly happened years ago…supposedly was a reply from the CIA to then Senator Radcliff to his official request for information…

I cannot find the source or website where I originally got the quote above. Nor can I recall what “operation” was supposedly being referred to.
Also note that, around December 20, 2015, John Podesta received an email from writer Brodowsky, saying in part: “Best strategy is to slaughter Donald for his bromance with Putin.”

just a hunch here…maybe our President is not doing the full-throttle release of declassified materials in exchange for the appointment of Amy Barrett perhaps per a request/threat by McConnell who doesn’t not want Rinos exposed. Just as it is hard to tell the difference from a truly concerned person and a malicious person trying to demoralize by spreading concern, it is hard to tell the difference between a truly hopeful person wishing good things will happen and a malicious person who tries to deceive people with baseless hope.
Each time we take up the banner of hope, placing our trust in the malicious deceivers who betray us, we protect them in their betrayal and put off the reckoning that is needed.
Hopium can be a truly debilitating drug. Just like fearium.
Worse, they are contagious behaviors. It is easy to influence others. Both prey on human nature.
And Lord knows I have puffed on both pipes.
A balance needs to be tread. Both can help motivate. But neither should be clung to in denial of reality. Without a resulting action, progress will come to a halt.

I had lunch with a group of Deputy USM at Einstein Bagel in Fort Lauderdale several years ago. We were a large group including a few federal prosecutors and ICE Agents. We were talking about politics and one of the Deputy USM group blurted out that the last White guy they hired was in 1994! That’s when Hillary Clinton got Janet Reno to go jungle and only HIRE MINORITY APPLICANTS for DUSM positions. From that point on most of the DUSM hires came from guards at the Bureau of Prisons. I wouldn’t keep putting DUSM on a pedestal. You’re watching too many movies!
First things first…get Re-elected. Next eliminate the CIA. Then, walk everyone currently employed there, out of the FBI. Then get Ric Grenell to interview every vacant position to refill the organization. While all of that process is going on, look at every computer for what needs to be known for the sanctity of the republic, revealing it to the public. Then go after the seditionists. No federal jail for any of them. We don’t need them in a country club. I could think of worse things to do to them for trying to take down this fine nation. The only way to make it right and recover confidence in the institution is to start it anew.

I get the idea that a lot of downsizing and moving around has been happening. Haven’t seen a then (2017) and now (2020) count of gvmt employees, but probably there are less. After all, each rule needed an enforcer, and many rules have been eliminated. IMO any reduction in force is a plus.
Mitch Mcconnel controls who President Trump can get confirmed. Mitch also maintains the senate as technically in session so that President Trump cannot make recess appointments.
