Mrs. Darline Graham, the sister of deceased Senator Lindsey Graham, has won the South Carolina Republican primary and will now head into a runoff against Ralph Norman on August 25th.
Ultimately it is up to the people of South Carolina to decide who they want to represent them in the Senate. However, there is nothing to indicate that Mrs. Graham would be anything different than a southern version of Lisa Murkowski.
Legacy replacement candidates without prior experience are always a shot in the dark. That said, the National Republican Senatorial Committee – the epicenter of creating candidates for election via Battered Conservative Syndrome – is now fully endorsing Graham and will put plenty of Chamber of Commerce money into her two-week campaign.
President Trump has endorsed Darline Graham. President Trump has an emotional attachment to the legacy outcome and is understandably supporting Mrs Graham out of loyalty. CTH tries to stay detached from the emotion of the issue and holds little confidence Graham would strongly support the issues of critical MAGA importance.
SOUTH CAROLINA – The National Republican Senatorial Committee is officially throwing its support behind Sen. Darline Graham ahead of the primary runoff — and it wants other South Carolina Republicans to follow.
On Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, NRSC officials called the primary’s top finishers who didn’t make the runoff in South Carolina’s snap Senate primary — Rep. Russell Fry (R-S.C.), former Gov. Mark Sanford and businessman Mark Lynch — and urged them to endorse Sen. Darline Graham, according to two people with knowledge of the outreach, granted anonymity to discuss private conversations.
On Wednesday morning, NRSC Chair Tim Scott — South Carolina’s senior senator — publicly threw his support behind Graham, who secured a first place finish in Tuesday’s primary with early support from President Donald Trump.
“I voted for Darline in yesterday’s primary, and I’ll vote for her again in the runoff,” Scott said in a post on social media. “I’m proud to endorse Darline Graham for the U.S. Senate, and I encourage South Carolina Republicans across our state to join me in voting for her in the runoff.” (read more)

Not sure that’s right in these special elections: I believe you have had to voted on the Republican ballot in the regular primaries. Needless, I’ll vote for Norman and hope for the best. I voted for Fry previously so you never know if Norman can pull enough support from other voters to defeat her. Won’t be surprised if he ‘loses’ though.
If you voted in the Republican primary in June OR DIDN’T VOTE AT ALL IN THE PRIMARY, you could bit in this special election. Only those who voted Democrat in June were excluded.
Some people who will vote D in November voted R in June since the D candidate had little competition and they were trying to influence the R ticket in a number of open races. As a result, they can vote in this special election and runoff.
I actually know of Liberal Californians moving to the Charlotte area.Other liberals attracted them there🙄

Yes. He would be.
He has been my congressman for a while now. I’ve met him many times in close settings. Is he my ideal style MAGA candidate: no. But, given the choices we had and his record overall (overall emphasis), he would more like a Rick Scott than a Murkowski.
Pretty good voting record, stands with state and fed freedom caucuses, etc. He is naturally conservative but isn’t likely to go to the mat for MAGA in the way PDJT does.
I can’t think of any truly good Senators, though. So, relative to the general Senate GOP people, I believe he would be an improvement for most of us.
I’ll have to consider Norman before Graham. I have no allegiance to any party. They’re all looking out for themselves.

I don’t live in SC but from the window of neighboring Georgia, I remember Ralph Norman supporting Nikki Haley over Donald Trump. While Fry would have been the preferable candidate in the race, now that he is eliminated, Ms. Graham is the only valid choice in my humble opinion.

The president then touted the success of the U.S. naval blockade and repeated his claim that Iran’s military capabilities have been diminished.

South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina and Kentucky are the epicenter of the eGOP/RINOs. I don’t trust any GOP from these states.
Sometimes, you can buy someone’s future loyalty by gratuitously showing loyalty to them today. T’s been making relationships and deals, and playing multiple angles simultaneously, for a LONG time. “One day, I may ask YOU for a favor. When I call, you will come.”
I also have a back-of-the-mind suspicion that T may have gotten the pillow guy to run for the sole purpose of floating the amnesty issue to see what the reaction would be. Now he knows. It’s worse than a non-starter. It’s a self-destruct button. So the modified amnesty I expected to be proposed after the midterms is now dead. Hope so.

I’m a South Carolinian and my candidate did not win yesterday. This is a huge power loss for the state of South Carolina and frankly for the US Senate as well. I voted for Lindsey Graham the first time he ran for US Senate, and I voted for him in the last run against Jamie Harrelson. Although Graham was ridiculed by people in his home state and nationally, his death is actually a sobering wake up call on just how productive and powerful he was in the Senate.
These are huge shoes to fill.
I’ll vote for Ralph Norman. Yesterday, a buddy of mine told me our local talk radio host here in the Upstate commented that Darlene would be the next Murkowski. I found this very alarming. Hopefully, voters who supported Russell Fry will throw their support behind Ralph Norman, just as they did for Alan Wilson in a runoff against Pam Evette for Governor.
I wholeheartedly support President Trump, but his endorsement of Graham is not doing anyone here any favor.

Sen Darline Graham may turnout to be a RINO, but so far she “says” she is for the SAVE Act and is willing to dump the filibuster to get it passed. While talk is cheap, that alone makes her better than both Murkowski (who is against the SAVE Act) and her brother (who wasn’t willing to end the filibuster). Also, don’t forget that Rep Ralph Norman was a Nicky Haley supporter in 2024 until she dropped out, only then did he jump on the Trump bandwagon. Not supporting Trump in early 2016 might be forgivable, but not supporting him after that, especially as late as 2024 is a deal breaker.
Might as well keep all that warmonger money in the family.
Endorsements prior to the runoff can have the opposite effect. As with the SC governor primary President Trump’s endorsement gathers the most votes. In the runoff however the irritation of the premature endorsement causes the voters in spots 3 and above to break the other way. This could easily happen to Darlene. I could almost guarantee that Sanford voters will not be going her way. The other voters might feel stung that the President showed no loyalty to them. In this case I hope it works this way.
