There have been multiple times in the history of Congress when multiple ballots are required to nominate the House Speaker. However, at no point in history has the same person failed to capture the majority on six ballots and remained determined to keep trying.
At this point, the hubris of Kevin McCarthy is becoming awkwardly embarrassing, which is to say, perfect. Kevin McCarthy is becoming a human meme.
Well done rebels. Hold the line.
Six ballots with an almost identical outcome, yet California Representative Kevin McCarthy refuses to accept that no path to the speaker’s office exists despite him already moving in there. Unless, and this is where it gets sketchy, the House votes to change the rules which would allow a plurality of the vote to determine the speaker…. which could happen.
After failing for the sixth time, the House Republican caucus requested an adjournment until 8:00pm tonight. Democrats objected, but the Republicans won the voice vote.
You can read about the House Rebel Alliance caucus members HERE
.
“Man, I’m 6’2″, 275, I’m not worried about that,” Donalds responded confidently.
What are the chances that the RINOs or the Democrats can finagle the speakership to a Democrat or a RINO? You don’t think Pelosi and her mob isn’t hatching a plan to take advantage of this deadlock?
It is possible if 6 GOP rats shift over to the other side Dem Hakeem Jeffries would be chosen Speaker. He has 212 votes right now, he would need 218. If that happens we, OMG I don’t even want to think about it.
I LOVE GRIDLOCK !
Gridlock is giving the Dems and anti-Trump factions material to use to criticize Trump and the GOP. Already there are articles about this being Trump’s fault, and there are people in this forum saying the same thing. We need to stop giving them material. The GOP needs to pull itself together and meet in the middle, McCarthy needs to give in to some demands and the holdouts need to accept and vote for him. The longer this drags out the more harm it causes the party and Trump. We need to win in 2024, we need Trump to win, we need to grow the House majority, and we need to get that frigging Senate majority which we would have had this year if not for stupid people voting.
Meeting in the middle brought us to where we are today. The time of giving in to the will of the globalists are over.
Spot on sir!
You too, explain. Provide some examples.
Do you not realize how far left the country has moved since Reagan? Trump is left of Reagan and is called far right. Reagan said life begins at conception. Trump called it the woman’s choice. Trump would consider a ban on so called assault weapons. Reagan would never consider going against the Bill of Rights.
Trump called it the woman’s choice.
Trump is anti-abortion.
Except that he recently put out a statement critical of Republicans for being too restrictive on abortion. He listed his preferred exceptions to abortion bans such as rape, incest & life/health of the mother.
Maybe he’s not as anti-abortion as you think.
Post his exact words. I’m quite sure now you have mischaracterized what he said.
The way l read that was that he was advising candidates to use the 3 exceptions to engender more support from people who might have those reservations. Which l am no in favor of, unless it is an authentic stand.
Pretty sure Reagan had the same “3 exceptions” its a hard line position only, to not recognise the 3 exceptions.
I don’t, butcI know that is an ‘extreme position’ .
I say this, while fully agreeing with booger and J.D.M.
Strongly DISAGREE with the argument that because the NYT and Wall Street Journal are both trying to “blame Trump” (how the HELL is this HIS fault?) that that is any reason for the 20 to budge one inch.
O.k., example. WE had WON the debate, on School vouchers, 30 years ago.
Then, Republicans went behind closed doors, with Dems and came out with a compromise; CHARTER schools!
WE activists who had been fighting for vouchers NEVER talked about “Charter schools” that was the Republican politicians snatching defeat from the jaws if victory, and undermining all of our hard work.
Every actually READ the Republican party platform?
It SOUNDS MAGA; calls for a BORDER WALL, and control of immigration, calls for control of Federal spending, etc.
The difference between what the platform “calls for” and what we actually GET? Thats all frittered away in phony compromises, which is actually Mccarthy and Mitch screwing US.
WAKE up, Serena, cause you are totally off base on this one.
The 20 have already been threatened with loss of everything, chair positions, etc. if McCarthy gets in.
Heck, dave Bratt even had his canteen priviledges rescinded.
You just KNOW Chip Roy, andy Biggs and the rest of the 20 will have the uniparty working to insure they lose their next election, and have no problem giving their seat to a Dem.
So, they can not and will not budge, McCarthy can have a 100 votes, they won’t change.
No, he isn’t. Like every thing in Trump’s life, he’s willing to make a deal on it.
Do you not remember him blaming the lack of the red wave during the midterms on the prolifers? It was only a week ago.
I’m waiting for Spooky’s response.
Let me help you out:
The OP claimed Trump “listed his preferred exceptions to abortion bans such as rape, incest & life/health of the mother.” But Trump isn’t saying that HE wants exceptions. He’s saying that GOP candidates who were vocal about their hard-line abortion stances turned off too many voters, and I agree. The GOP should have had a strategy to deal with the abortion issue so they could have more mid-term wins.
> But Trump isn’t saying that HE wants exceptions.
This is disingenuous at best, and a flat out malicious lie at worst.
Trump specifically stated that “no exceptions, even in the case of rape, incenst, or life of the mother, […] lost large numbers of voters.”
Here’s how being anti-abortion works:
No abortions, not ever, not for any reason, no exceptions. This is what it means to be pro-life. This is what it means to be anti-abortion. There are no “life of the mother” situations where this cannot be followed and still save the life of the mom. A pregnancy is “terminated” by birth. Infants can now survive ridiculously premature births. In every situation where the mother’s life is in danger due to the pregnancy, the infant can be born prematurely and have a chance to live.
Trump is not anti-abortion. Period. There is no possible discussion on the matter.
Trump also directly blamed those anti-abortion pro-lifers for his failures.
In every single midterm since 1980 where one party held both houses of Congress and the WH, the minority party took the House by a comfortable margin. In most cases, they also took the Senate. But in EVERY case, they took the house by a far larger margin than what took place this past year.
And in this past year we also had the most unpopular president ever, 30%+ real inflation, the highest gas prices the country has ever seen, etc, etc, etc. The red wave SHOULD have been huge.
It was not.
Trump claims a huge victory percentage, even as he endorsed safe candidates and those running unopposed, while also playing Kingmaker over the worst midterm electoral showing in more than 40 years.
A good portion of it was Trump’s fault, as he endorsed terrible candidates over MAGA candidates (see Dr. Oz), while the GOPe also stabbed us in the back (as they have done in every election against populists, ever, since the founding of the party). He neither understood election realities on the ground nor winning election strategies that WERE carried out by a large number of candidates.
And now he seeks to blame others for his failings, attacking the strongest part of his own base—the pro-life movement.
He also rallied for QBLTs, claiming to fight for them, again pissing on his most ardent supporters, dumping them for folks who will never vote for him. He endorsed McCarthy repeatedly, including calling up the 20 Rebels individually and demanding that they cease-and-desist their opposition to McCarthy.
If this is who Trump is now, MAGA would be better served by literally anyone. Literally ANYONE. We get stabbed in the back all the time by the GOP. We don’t need to get stabbed in the heart by Trump too.
Explain how meeting in the middle brought us to where we are today. Provide some examples.
Playing dumb are we?
Meeting in the middle = republicans giving the Dems everything they want in return for nothing.
But you knew that.
Provide examples.
State right here that 2020 was rigged and President Trump won.
We’ll wait.
Where are the meeting in the middle examples?
SCHOOL VOUCHERS.
I was THERE; WE, the base had the Dems “on the ropes” they could not win the debate, even when the tried the “rascist” card, and then Republican politicians, who were supposed to be representing the base, went behind closed doors with their dem comrades, and came out with,….
CHARTER schools? WTF WE never said ANYTHING about “Charter Schools”, it was a “reasonable compromise” as they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
Every budget for the last 12-15 years, and every vote to increase the debt ceiling for at least the same length of time or longer. Now stop repeating yourself.
I’m waiting for the OPs to provide specific examples. It’s so easy to spout general claims, not so easy to back them up.
You should be smart enough to know the truth. Stop playing dumb.
Alright, in the recent Senate “negotiations” over the omnibus spending orgy Democrats gave up virtually nothing because Mitch and his surrender monkey caucus didn’t even ask them too. They just wanted their cut of the action. Republicans don’t negotiate, they capitulate like the cowards and frauds they are.
Why don’t you give us some examples where Democrats met in the middle on anything?
They are grifters, con artists.
I’m talking about GOP-GOP negotiations. That’s the situation we’re dealing with right now.
Just go away.
Nobody is buying your cutesy protestations.
Redefining Political Geometry – American Thinker
I’m not going to read an article on another site. Post info here. It should be easy. Just a few examples.
Seriously, have you been in a coma for this entire century? See my above comment for one recent example. Their are many more but I don’t have the time right now to deal with willful ignorance.
PS- If your going to ask naïve questions based on ignorance then at least do your homework and be prepared to defend yourself. It’s intellectually lazy to just insist that critics post articles and examples for your convenience.
I just saw your comment. You brought up an example of GOP vs Dem. But this conversation has two do with two factions of the GOP fighting against each other.
I proposed that the two GOP factions negotiate and meet in the middle. booger 71 said that meeting in the middle brought us to where we are today. I asked for examples.
Why is this so hard? Make a claim, back it up. That’s all.
“Compromise between two factions of the GOP”?
You mean between the RINO/GOPe wing of the Uniparty, and the MAGA Base, cause McCarthy is GOPE, and the 20 are MAGA.
THERE IS NO EXAMPLE; every time PDJT tried to “work with” McConnell and Ryan/McCarthy, he was betrayed.
And thats just the point, isn’t it?
And, the 20 have been making it clear, what they wanted mcCarthy to agree to, in order to get their vote; reasonable rule changes, undoing the rules Pelosi put in, and returning to “regular order”;
Motion to Vacate, which we had for 200 + years, until Pelosi eliminated it.
SINGLE ISSUE Legislation.
TIME to read, debate and offer amendments on ALL Legislation BEFORE voting on it.
And so a regular appropriations process, instead of Omnibus.
No more “Comprehensive” bills of 1000’s of pages.
NOT unreasonable, and the 14 put it in writing, and McCarthy laughed at them, and dismissed them.
No, she just treats CTH as her own personal blog. She’s here all day, every day, and accounts for a minimum of 25% of replies on each article. Its almost like she’s paid to be here, and to push certain agendas…
Oh great, another Karen from the self-appointed comment police force.
Yes.
People need to quit responding to it.
Starve it of attention.
Please stop feeding this troll!!! You could post 20 “examples” and this moron would move on to “clarify” don’t waste your time.
They’ve posted none so far. And that’s because they can’t come up with any. They’re quick to post general claims, unable to justify them.
It’s time to lay off the Adderall and take your sleepy pill. You are neither pithy or unique…. just plain boring.
Ignore my comments if you don’t like them, Karen.
You certainly state many things in your comments. Why not start sourcing links to back up what you are opining about.
How do you know that all is lost if McCarthy is not elected Speaker? Show us eg of how you know for sure this is a bad idea, not just your own take on it. Facts please.
How do you know that all is lost if McCarthy is not elected Speaker?
I haven’t said anything like that.
I’m saying that dragging out the Speaker election is harming Trump and the GOP party.
I see no way 10% of the GOP Representatives can make some other person win the Speaker spot. I would LOVE to see someone else become Speaker but I’m quite sure it’s not going to happen. McCarthy has 90% of the GOP Representatives backing him, there’s no way 10% can do anything but negotiate and let McCarthy win but with requirements.
What part of stopp feeding, don’t you understand?
Shall we go back and review all the comment battles i had with her, prior to the midterms, regarding “Vote straight R ticket”?
Steve Richer and Bill Gates both ran as republicans
were elected by voters voting “straight R party, in the general”.
Discredited then, discredited now; there is no way the 20 are going to slit their own throats, by agreeing to a compromise that puts McCarthy in as speaker.
Clueless, is what such a positions is.
Seriously. No one has an obligation to cater to you. If you don’t believe someone, or don’t agree with their points, let them know and move on. Your demanding that people provide you with proof is annoying and negatively affects the normally friendly tone of this comment section.
Sorry. That was intended for serena.
If I claim something and someone challenges me, I provide proof or evidence.
If someone else claims something and I challenge them, I expect them to do the same.
The forum comment guidelines actually recommend that we back up our claims when we make them.
9) CITATIONS – There’s a big difference between an opinion and an assertion of fact. Feel free to provide opinions; however, if you are making an assertion of fact you must attach a citation for review. If you do not have a citation – don’t post; this avoids spreading rumors, gossip and unfounded claims.
Please, YOU give us an example of the GOPE/RINO Uniparty, negotiating an equitable compromise with the MAGA contingent, and then living up to their end of the agreement.
That IS what your demanding others provide, isn’t it?
There ARE none, cause the GOPe/RINOS are Conmunists, and Conmunists can not compete, or deal squarely and so must cheat.
The last time congress passed a budget, George W Bush was president. Both the democrats and republicans in congress have no problem with it.
Start with that.
That’s Dems vs. GOP. My comment about negotiating pertains to GOP faction vs GOP faction, the current Speaker situation. The Dems have nothing to do with it.
How about over thirty trillion in debt for starters? How about trillion dollar omnibus spending bills? How about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? How about the bipartisan Patriot Act? Both the GOP and Dems agree that they don’t want a border wall. The list goes on and on. Just do a search for bipartisan laws passed by Congress.
Not GOP vs Dem, GOP vs GOP. Reread the original comments before 5000 people dragged it off to tangentially-related crap.
The McCarthys are RINOs, which means they’re Democrats-In-Drag. They have watched the whole country burn and did nothing. Dems stole the national election. What did they do? NOTHING. They stole Arizona (Kari Lake). Has the McCarthys done anything? Said anything? NO. They have let Biden and his administration run all over our rights, persecute us, silence us, cancel us and gaslight us. What has the McCarthys done about any of it? NOTHING.
THERE IS NO MIDDLE GROUND. The only difference between the McCarthys and Democrats is Democrats are more honest about their intentions. Any compromise with them is betrayal to American citizens. We need a true conservative to be Speaker. I want them to hold out as long as it takes to have one.
Are you grading this test?!
Why are you so bothered that I’m asking someone to provide evidence justifying a claim? Are you OK with people saying all sorts of crap and never proving that it’s true? I’m not.
Something else that you need to do, besides calling people stupid,
Making demands of people to show you proof of……
Do your own research. Nobody owes you and quite frankly, your attitude is a turn off.
Quit doing
20 congresspeople want to have a border, spend money responsibly, adhere to the Constitution……in short, to save the United States. None are Democrats.
That’s it.
No Ma’am – DELIBERATIVE PACE of a REPUBLIC
If President Trump had found a cure for cancer, he’d of been attacked for all the people put out of business treating it.
You might want to not worry so much about what people who hate your guts no matter what you do think..
Trump cannot win on MAGA voters’ votes alone. He needs votes from independents too, and we need to worry about what they think. Same is true of the GOP party, we need to win the House and Senate majorities in 2024. If Trump becomes President again but the Dems resume control of the House, it will be non-stop persecution again.
MAGA is bleeding voters like mad because like the Tea Party the idea had an designed expiration date.
This, today, is part of that breakup happening.
4 full election cycles and the +80M movement can only manage 20 individuals in Congress to hold a line?
No, what the MAGA has always been about is electioneering more Republicans.
Reality is rearing it’s head, people are figuring that out.
give me a break. Independents don’t give a shit about the GOP speakers fight and who Trump supported.
McCarthy as speaker will not win you the house in 2024. Listen to yourself.
Independents read news headlines and see numerous ones tonight all blaming Trump for the Speaker mess, and numerous others gleefully reporting the party in-fighting. McCarthy and the holdouts need to resolve this quickly.
So what.
fka serena;
THAT right there is where you lose the argument.
Your saying WE should shape our behavior, to conform to what the MSM media is saying, because a bunch of politically clueless idiots who allow their emotions to dictate their actions “Independants” might not vote with us on election day.
Yeah, and PDJT better stop with all those “mean tweets”, cause they “turn off independants”, and he really shouldn’t have saud that “goid people on both sides” Charleston comment, cause that “turned off the Indie voters”.
If your gonna worry about whatever false narrative the MSM spins, or what “Indies” think (they DON’T think, they EMOTE!) you don’t belong in this foxhole, your gonna get someone killed.
This is yesterday-thinking. Elections are now simply registration checks and ballot counts.
Candidates don’t matter.
Voters don’t matter.
Independent voters have never, ever mattered.
Adapt, or perish.
Ridiculous comment.
Ridiculous answer.
Examine which MAGA candidates won, and how they did it. Who are their campaign managers? What strategies were used?
Then look at the commonly-dismissed “fraud” results—like Fetterman in PA. Both Fetterman and Oz were terrible candidates, both manifestly unfit for office. Who won, and why? What kind of campaign was used?
Look in AZ. Who won, and who lost, and what kind of campaign was used?
There is only one state in the Union where independents matter at all, and that is Florida, and that is only because it is such an egregious outlier where 1/3rd of registered voters are I.
You may not like ballot harvesting. Tough cookies. It is legal.
Candidates don’t matter. Voters don’t matter. Registration matters, and ballots matter. That’s it.
Screech all you want about ideals and principles. This is the political reality on the ground in the former United States.
You wrote ridiculous tripe in your earlier comment:
Candidates don’t matter.
Voters don’t matter.
Independent voters have never, ever mattered.
Now you’re trying to fix it with a series of questions as if that’s some sort of explanation or proof of anything.
Let’s look at Florida in 2016. Trump won, but not by much. 4,617,886 votes to Hillary’s 4,504,975. According to Florida Division of Elections, in 2016 there were 4,575,277 registered Republicans, 4,905,705 registered Democrats, and 3,478,203 “other”. In order for Trump to win just with registered Republican votes it would have required a 98.4% turnout. Impossible. The total voter turnout was 74%. If 74% of registered Republicans turned out that would have given Trump only 3,385,704 votes. Trump needed some independent votes. The last several polls prior to the election showed independents leaning slightly toward Trump so we can reasonably guess that roughly half of the independents who voted did so for Trump. If they had voted for Hillary she would have won.
I would love to provide more examples but it’s now past my bedtime.
Feel free to provide your own examples showing that Trump doesn’t need independent votes, I’ll check this thread tomorrow.
Your reading comprehension sucks. I already said Florida was an exception to the “independent votes don’t matter” rule.
I laid it out right here:
> There is only one state in the Union where independents matter at all, and that is Florida, and that is only because it is such an egregious outlier where 1/3rd of registered voters are I.
Take the L, Serena.
What Trump needs most of all is the votes of disaffected white working class folk or any kind of blue collar vote for that matter. That’s how he won in 2016. He lost a lot of those votes in 2020 and it hurt him almost as much as the massive vote fraud.
We’ll see if Trump can handle the fallout of his standing by McCarthy. He has dealt with people blaming him for all kinds of things, and sometimes his decisions don’t make sense to us.
But the rebels are doing what they believe is right for the voters. They are trying to block McCarthy, which is what you blame the voters in his district for not doing. Why not let them do it?
And you know PDJT is not to blame for the Congress being such a shit show. who cares what people in the media and other posters here think.
It’s not about Trump handling it, it’s about losing votes. The “rebels” are probably causing serious damage now.
No it’s not. You act like everything is a fixed system. Only one pie to be divided up. Thats not how it is.
Also, we cannot avoid addressing the problems of the GOP for fear of losing votes of people who are unreliable in the first place. Or accept the status quo for fear of losing elections.
Elections are routinely stolen and nothing is done about it anyway. We don’t have to accept things as they are.
Battered conservative syndrome is real and there are a lot of posters here with it.
Spot on. The delusion is thick here, with no end in sight. Ive been getting responses to my posts here, and I must say, I am not impressed with the ability of some folks to think. They insist that we can just vote a little harder, give in to the RINOs just one more time, and have MORE faith in Trump. Pure delusion.
It’s delusional to believe that every election loss is due to Dem theft. This is very similar to the COVID vaccine mass psychosis, every death is not attributable to the vaccine.
Fair enough. I didnt say that though. We are screwed in many ways by our supposed reps, doesnt always require fraud.
But, are you saying there isnt any fraud, and the vaccine isnt dangerous? That would also be delusional.
I agree it would be delusional to say there is no election fraud or the vaccine hasn’t caused some injuries or even deaths. And I’ve never said either of those things.
No. Not similar at all. You are wrong.
It’s the same error. There is certainly evidence of voter fraud, and evidence that the COVID mRNA vaccine causes injury and even death. But to blame every election loss on fraud or every death/injury on the COVID vaccine is simply irrational. There are other reasons for election losses, like people not voting, not understanding ranked-choice, not liking the GOP candidate, etc. And there are other reasons for injuries and deaths, like getting slammed in the chest by a football player, or having cancer or some other pre-existing life-threatening medical condition, etc.
> The “rebels” are probably causing serious damage now.
Good. I hope they burn the sonofabitch down.
What does that mean?
The big ugly is about the GOP honey.
Are you suggesting that there will be a Dem Speaker? That’s not going to help us, nor will it help Trump’s campaign.
Good. Because the Republican Party needs to suffer serious damage especially the GOPe members.
But Trump is part of the GOP and we need Trump to win and we need the GOP to win the House and Senate majorities in 2024, otherwise we’re in for more Dem-led misery. Wishing for the demise of the GOP Party is counterproductive.
You people need to have more patience. MAGA has made gains, but the progress is slow. Hang in there, this is a long war, don’t give up, and don’t shoot us all in the foot just because you’re frustrated. We’re going to win some battles and lose others. But the more we can gain the easier it will be to progress more quickly.
MAGA had very few gains in the 2022 Midterms
thanks to goblins like McConnell & McCarthy.
NO and NO and NO to RINO McCarthy.
McCarthy kept quiet about the steal and the fake insurrection. He represents the status quo and I could give a rat’s ass about hurting the Republican Uniparty. Burn it all down.
We need to stop worrying about,
1 giving ‘them’ material to criticize.
2 harming the ‘party’.
You do need to quit insulting people by calling us stupid.
Election fraud is real, that’s how these stool samples were ‘elected’.
Lots of fun until it fails. Then what will we do? It is time to start the new Party, even though our chances of ever electing anyone will be slim and none. There has to be a point to this fiasco and, so far, I don’t see it. The deal making may work, but I doubt it will accomplish a damn thing.
Not gonna happen.
If they coerce enough traitors to leave the floor, the threshold is lower, thus creating chaos.
Biden is then removed by the 25th, Harris is impeached, and Jeffries becomes President of the US.
Why don’t you want to think about the dems electing a McCarthy equal ?
The man continues to show his true colors and you keep going hannity on everybody here.
Break the cycle of abuse that you seem accustomed to.
That would be the end of the Republican party.
McCarthy is a RINO. That’s the whole point of this rebellion.
I sure hope SCOTUS does the right thing by the Bundys and the American public but do not hold out much hope….I mean they just demonstrated they have lost their minds with a UNANIMOUS vote to release PDJT’s tax returns to Congress
I personally know [& Respect] one of the freedom caucus members ….Mary Miller of Illinois -#1 She’s a devout Christian #2 She’s not a politician ….she only answers to God – If congress was filled w/Mary Millers our country would much better off… ….She raised and home schooled all 7 of her children [I’m pretty sure they all went to college – most w/ scholarships]….I’ve lost count of her grandchildren -There’s Alot! – all on a small farm in central Illinois – She Loves and Respects our country & the ideas that it was founded on….I Pray for her daily to help guide our country in the right direction….May God Bless Mary Miller- Truly Heaven Sent!!!!!!!!!!
FYI….I’m her plumber – I’ve known her for years….Still can’t believe she ran for office & she’s won twice now! She is Not a Politician!…….. She Truly Cares
I love Mary Miller. I went to her rally, I’m sure you were there…in the rain! What a downpour!
Wow! Say hello to her for us! We appreciate these young turks fighting to get Kevin in line.
Sounds like she would be a wonderful Speaker of the House! Why was Donald’s picked? What happened to Jordan?
I am dying over that bottom picture! Wherever did you find it?
Me too!! It puts me in mind of some of the old Monty Python sketches. It actually made me shoot tea out of my nose!
Why do I have a feeling that McCarthy and Paul Ryan are texting each other, like Strzok and Page.
And, Frank Luntz.
You misspelled stroking.
Find somebody who looks at you the way Kevin McCarthy looks at the Speaker’s gavel.
I see Kevin McC has dropped his Ukrainian flag pin and pocket scarf.
too little too late
any promise he makes now is worthless
NO Kevin being shown on the Floor right now by C SPAN
Too many cocktails to calm his nerves, or a complete breakdown, which I am personally hoping for.
Must have heard about Tuckers show tonight.
He has no core; he’s just out there blowing in the wind, any wind that will deliver to him his precious.
But Trump wants McCarthy, as do Jim Jordan, Elise Stefanik, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and other MAGA allies.
Trump wants to beat then at their own game.
We The People want a cleaned out, uncorrupted government, not a winning of a corrupted game.
Trump is losing support by trying to play their game, not opppose them and do right as he was originally perceived to do by the People.
Those supporting McCarthy are not supportng the effort to get out from under the thumb of the WEF globalists.
You’re discovering who really is an ally to the MAGA movement, and who isn’t. Who was just grifting.
Trump didn’t start MAGA either. WE did.
Trump was our murder weapon for the GOPe, remember?
He has forgotten that, but we haven’t. Sundance certainly hasn’t.
You’re discovering who really is an ally to the MAGA movement, and who isn’t. Who was just grifting.
Or maybe we just don’t know the full story. They are having conversations and we’re not privvy to them. I’m not going to assume they are traitors just because I don’t understand their actions.
Excellent point. Before there was Trump, there was Sundance.
Well, they’re wrong.
McCarthy f*cked around and is finding out.
People Calling into C-SPAN ARE NOT ” the Brightest Light Bulbs ”
a REPUBLIC Is Built Upon a CONCEPT of CONSENSUS with the INDIVIDUAL CONCERNS CONSIDERED
McCarthy Gang is ALREADY ASKING for a RECESS til NOON TOMORROW !
YEAs and NAYs are Being ORDERED !

Somebody been drinking too much during the break.
C Span Just Announced that the Repubs said STICK AROUND IN CASE We Have ANOTHER VOTE !

McCarthy only stands to be humiliated again so don’t blame his band of criminals
The NAYS have it. Session continues.
WTH – time expired and their asked if anyone wants to change their vote
Clerk allowed votes after time expired.
Republicans wussie out and go home.
Mc carthy wussies out.
WTF is wrong with trump? Between pushing mccarthy and his complete lack of organized, intelligent pushback against the lib uniparty narrative over the last few years I am thinking it is time for him to go away.
Why? If he’s so bad, why not let your preferred candidate beat him in a primary?
Its not that he is so bad, its that he isnt electable anymore. No path. No way deepstate lets him take office. No candidate for president is going to solve this.
Sadly, that’s exactly what is shaping up right now…
I am thinking it is time for him to go away.
Good job buying into the Dem and anti-Trump narratives! They love you for it.
Their voting to adjourn until noon tomorrow.
The Squatter still doesn’t have the votes.
Man,,that”behold”meme is absolute gold,,, please send to me,, I want to send out,,far, and wide.!!
Sherman is a Leftist. Figures McCarthy’s people would be talking to him.
Adjournment vote was 216-214.
McCarthy says talks are progressing…
Absolutely hilarious. I don’t know whether this clown will eventually get this gavel, but this whole fracas is just amusing. Some people are freaking out, but I’m not glued to any mass media, so I’m pretty fine. Like I said before, this all could have been avoided if McCarthy didn’t get involved in the primaries. Simple as that! He would have had a large majority and never would have worried about this. But, as the kids say: “Congratulations. You played yourself.”
Keep getting those concessions, my friends. McCarthy will either be so damaged or he will have to step aside. Maybe for Scalise. Don’t know whether he’s better, but he’s a whole lot more palatable than “Konniving Kev“.
RINOs are burning down their party because they can’t get their way. Both laughable and tragic.
Scalise is not better. He is Kev’s MiniMe.
Amen!
Taller of two midgets?
I MUST have that last meme on a pillow or in a frame! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Lazy fools. Coming back at 8pm to vote to adjourn until 12 noon. And clap for themselves. Get the work done and earn an honest wage for honest work. Or is the word “honest” the issue? Lazy!
I say let them take a month or seven off. Then come back and think about why the American people hate them so much for a few months. That ought to get us through a year without any crappy laws or spending more of our money on transgenders in Pakistan.
Good one!
Quite timely.
Into the home stretch it’s Jeffries by a neck on the outside making his move….
Hannitty is being an absolute a$$ with Congresswoman Lauren Boebert
Hannitty is an absolute a$$ all the time.
Is he letting her speak at all? I had to stop watching his interviews because he talks 95% of the time.

1) Gaetz: It was very strange to me that when I went into the meeting with Leader McCarthy. He apologized to me for saying things that weren’t true about our discussions.

Did not want to adjourn…

4 GOPers side with Dems against adjourning: Biggs, Boebert, Crane, Gaetz

Maybe those 4 should vote with the democrats for Jeffries, making 216 for Jeffries, but just 2 shy of winning, just to send a message to McCarthy to drop out, or else!
They wanted to keep putting the screws to McCarthy.

Rep. Chip Roy said that he’s not sure the House has inched closer to securing a speaker.
“I’m not sure, of that whole group of people, I’m not sure who if any moves,” Roy said. “We’ve got to continue to talk.”
9:27 PM · Jan 4, 2023
Did anyone from Fox News call the holdouts “terrorists”? I thought it was Rep. Dan Crenshaw who said that. I have the same question about the other terms.
A real leader snd real man would have stepped aside on #2 failure.
He’s got 90% of the GOP Representatives’ votes. He actually shouldn’t step aside, but he should negotiate to get this stalemate ended as quickly as possible so the House can get down to business.
Get down to business = sending $$$ to Ukraine.
How do you negotiate with someone who can’t be trusted to keep his word?
Play it again, Sam, i.e., a man of honor would withdraw his candidacy for SoH if he were causing this much dissension in his party; said another way, McCarthy has no honor.
Kevin doesn’t look so cocky now does he. Looks a bit flustered. I’m loving seeing his slick little smirk being wiped off his face for once. Even if he somehow wiggles and squirms his way into the Speaker seat now, he will be forever tainted by this farce he engineered. Had he done the right thing after two rounds and withdrawn his name, he might have salvaged his political creds with the voters. Now after 6 no vote rounds, he just looks desperate and foolish.
What he does now will tell a lot about who he is and what he will do as Speaker. He will also be opposed at every turn by those who did not want him. Good luck with all that.
It’s been a delightful day watching these fake people try to make like they care about the people. It’s all about them and when one of them gets their hat handed to him, it is a satisfying day. Sad as that is to say about our elected representatives.
Simple to me as this plays out. Do the 20 “Rebels” answer to Money/Power or do they answer to God/Country.
The Intercept

Asked what specifically McCarthy had done to lose his trust, Rep. Ralph Norman said, “The 14 years he’s been here when he’s voted for every spending package and this $1.7 trillion omnibus.”
Cont…
This will not work, but it sure is fun to see it happening. Once McCarthy steps aside the RINOs will torch the Tea Party each time they try to elect an alternative. When we get to over a dozen votes and the Tea Party keep trying, the media will convince the RINOs to throw the Speakership back to the Demcommies. I know, I am pessimistic.
Kevin, they’re just not into you.
Very well said!

Chip Roy: GOP House Speaker fight is about ENDING THE SWAMP
Given the entertainment Industry has gone woke and is going broke, cause they produce absolute crap, THIS is great entertainment!
McCarthy is showing exactly WHY the 20 are saying “hell no!” to McCarthy.
His arrogance, hubris, entitlement, and self interest on on display, for ALL to see.
Someone needs to ‘have the conversation’ and convince him, for “party and country” to step aside.
I really don’t think the 20, knowing whats at stake for them, are going to go along with scalise, thats just Kevin in a skin suit.
I’m liking Biggs, but really anybody that ain’t Uniparty will do.
The 20 have made it clear they will consider anyone that will agree to the rules changes they want, and thats key,…
This is just a prelude, to the debt cieling fight, which will get viscious, even more than this has.
The children aren’t going to be happy, to have their $ tree killed, and will fight like hell.
The Uniparty has had a standard kabuki theater play, EVERY time the debt cieling comes up for raising, but the script has been re-written.
The Uniparty passed the Omnibus, to take the power of the purse off the table, but they left the debt cieling, and since its all they got, the MAGA coalitition is going to use it, to ‘burn it all down’.
“SHUT IT DOWN!”,….about freakin time!
Even after supplying a LOT of free pizza, the wannabe Speaker couldn’t buy enough votes.
I pray to God the rebels stand their ground !
Burn that mother down.
Good. Hopefully more will join them. The hubris of McCarthy to have moved his things into the Speaker’s office is overwhelming, to say nothing of this continued attempt to gain this position. This now has nothing to do with any effectiveness of Republicans in the House, and all to do with his ego.
By the way, his new haircut, presumably a new ‘look’ for his House leadership, is unbecoming….lol.
Changing the rules to allow a plurality makes Jeffries speaker on the next vote. The repubs would rather burn the house down than let conservatives have it.
Another Californian being considered for house leadership is beyond coincidence.
Wouldn’t a person of integrity, a true leader, decided at some point they needed to step aside and find a more acceptable candidate?
What’s the point on insisting on 6 votes? He must have known he didn’t have the votes.
Did he think these people were going to be bullied by the corrupt media into voting for him on the 4th, 5th and 6th votes?
Why hasn’t someone nominated Matt Gaetz for Speaker?? Either Gaetz or Jordan would appear to be good choices.
They don’t trust McCarthy.
And yet they can’t name someone who wants the job that others will trust?
That’s known as stalling or postponing the inevitable.
Righteous and stupid at the same time, no?
Let’s get to work please!!!
