There have been multiple times in the history of Congress when multiple ballots are required to nominate the House Speaker. However, at no point in history has the same person failed to capture the majority on six ballots and remained determined to keep trying.
At this point, the hubris of Kevin McCarthy is becoming awkwardly embarrassing, which is to say, perfect. Kevin McCarthy is becoming a human meme.

Six ballots with an almost identical outcome, yet California Representative Kevin McCarthy refuses to accept that no path to the speaker’s office exists despite him already moving in there. Unless, and this is where it gets sketchy, the House votes to change the rules which would allow a plurality of the vote to determine the speaker…. which could happen.
After failing for the sixth time, the House Republican caucus requested an adjournment until 8:00pm tonight. Democrats objected, but the Republicans won the voice vote.

But it’s pretty clear that GOP politicians have zero fear of going against Trump now, and you’ll see more of that in 2024 when no one in a competitive race seeks his endorsement.

Heard on Nashville radio this afternoon that Ogles had McCarthy endorse his election and come to a fund-raiser. There’s also audio of Ogles agreeing to this endorsement. If McCarthy gets in, Ogles will be in deep yogurt.
I live here. There was not a single ad, radio or TV, where McCarthy was pushing Ogles.
But — if he did…then that is EXACTLY what the tool SHOULD have done in ANY contest against a Dem. Ogle’s Dem opponent was a real radical lefty. He beat her by double digits, but it was never a certainty since his district was a brand new one that the GOP legislature drew by carving out pieces of the old Nashville district that ALWAYS elected a Dem. By doing this, TN went from 7 GOP 2 Dem reps to 8 GOP and 1 Dem [the commie representing Memphis, Cohen]

Well, then……game on!
You have to appreciate how absolutely horrific the optics are right now for McCarthy. Because of the Republicans’ narrow majority, and the Democrats voting in lock-step for their own man, McCarthy, across six ballots, has failed to do better than second place in the tally. Even were he to somehow pull this out, he would enter the Speaker’s office in a weaker position than any Speaker in recent memory.
We’re at the point where even McCarthy’s most die-hard supporters have to question the premise of his dogged determination to stay in the race against vehement opposition from the cadre of Freedom Caucus patriots. If his motivation were a passionate drive to work for the American people, which he sincerely believed he could only achieve while holding the speaker’s gavel, then, ironically, he would have dropped out and united behind another Republican who did not face such strong opposition. If, rather, he simply believes that it’s “his turn” and coming so close he can’t countenance giving in, like a child who sees the bright shiny just out of reach and stubbornly refuses to give way, then that undercuts the best reasons to support him his die hard’s could possibly conjure up.
But if, as it now appears, this is all about preserving the prerogatives of the swamp, and keeping the Speaker’s office “in the club,” the country be damned, the party be damned, then supporting him through more prolonged theatrics is not an act of loyalty. It is cowardice, it is co-option, it is a stance against the interests of the American people, and it is unconscionable.
For the sake of good order and at least getting on with the pretense of caring about the peoples’ business, Republicans have to gird up their big boy pants, let McCarthy know that in life you can’t get everything you want, call it an end and let him go away in peace. I know that people standing on principle, and standing strong, is not the Washington way. But unfortunately for McCarthy and his timing, it’s the final toll on a lackluster, swampy career. Indeed, now is the end, let him go in peace.

Twenty elected representatives who recognize the will of those who elected them. Against the odds these brave representatives are thus far preventing super rino mccarthy from being elected speaker. Twenty representatives, out of 435 who are following their conscience, and voting on behalf of the people who elected them. They are being threatened, coerced, intimidated, and all manner of pressure applied to get them to yield to the will of the lawless mob. They have my respect, and my support. In some ways they remind me of the men who wrote the Declaration of Independence, as they too are by their actions declaring their independence from the lawless mob. The founding of our nation began with a very small number of men with the necessary conviction and conscience to stand for liberty and freedom, not unlike these representatives. If we do our part, next time there will be 40 or perhaps 60. No matter the immediate outcome, I see a ray of light in the distance. May we continue to press on toward what is true and right in our pursuit of individual freedom and liberty from an ever growing oppressive government.

Anyone else beginning to wonder why the irrational bahavior by McCarthy calling vote after vote he already knows he will lose? In the real world outside Congress, people sometimes behave this way when they have made commitments to people you don’t double cross and they can’t fullfill those commitments unless they win the vote. Or – it could be just plain old fashioned hubris and entitlement. Whatever the reason for this, the visuals have now crossed the line into “terrible.”

Jordan investigated the FBI whistleblowers and produced a multi-thousand page report. He suggests we all read it. Has anyone? In the end the report got filed somewhere.
The media will not cover GOP congressional investigations and the DOJ will not open criminal investigations based on GOP Congressional reports.
We don’t need go nowhere investigations, instead we need to focus on getting real world results:
First we need a speaker who will get the Holman Rule re-passed. That rule would enable the GOP to wield real power –to defund 87k IRS agents, to defund the Special Counsel against PDJT, to defund the counter-intelligence DC office of the FBI.
We need a speaker who can force all bills to come as individual topic focused bills, not omnibus —individual bills gives us back the power of the purse. One mammoth omnibus all rolled into one with tons of hidden gotchas are something that needs to end. We need a speaker who will make this a priority.
Investigations are a waste –virtue signaling to no real benefit. With the right speaker focused on the Holman Rule we could actually get real results rather than investigative reports that go nowhere but into a filing cabinet.

I have always supported Byron Donalds, have consistently Endorsed him for Congress and, in fact, feel that I was a primary reason he entered politics in the first place. He is a young man with a great future! With that all being said, the story and statement that was just put out that I endorsed Byron for Speaker of the House is Fake and Fraudulent. He will have his day, and it will be a big one, but not now!
And there go another truckload of Trump votes in 2024.
