A few months ago, amid all of the headline warnings about inflation and prices of essential products, CTH noted that if we were to continue waiting about six months, we would see a massive backlog of unsold goods and as a consequence the prices of non-essential durable goods would begin a rapid decline. That exact scenario is about to unfold.
Keep in mind, this is not necessarily a collapse of total global economic activity; what we are seeing is a collapse of western nation economic activity that is impacting the rest of the world. A great economic fracturing is taking place as the western nations intentionally shrink their economy. The supplier nations are feeling the consequences.
Maersk is the international shipping company that delivers millions of containers of goods all around the world, mostly by ship. They are warning that warehouses are full of previously delivered goods, unsold consumer durable goods, as retail sales have come to a standstill.
The amount of inventory in warehousing is so extreme, major wholesale and retail groups have run out of storage space (link).
COPENHAGEN, Aug 3 (Reuters) – Shipping group Maersk (MAERSKb.CO) expects global container demand to fall this year as sales of durable goods come to a “standstill”, leaving flat-screen TVs and furniture piling up in warehouses, the company said on Wednesday.
A surge in consumer demand and pandemic-related logjams holding up containers in key ports had boosted freight rates and profits in the shipping industry in recent quarters, yet the cost-of-living crisis has reversed that trend.
[…] “Sales of durable consumer goods have come to a standstill,” Chief Executive Soren Skou told journalists at the company’s headquarter in Copenhagen. “Consumers have bought what they need for now of new sofas, kitchens, flat screens and garden furniture.”
In the United States, the country’s largest warehouse market is already full as major U.S. retailers warn of slowing sales of the clothing, electronics, furniture and other goods.
Mearsk said the number of containers it had loaded on to ships fell by 7.4% in the second quarter compared with a year earlier. (read more)
Keep in mind, South Korean factory output is now negative (electronics etc). European factory output is now negative (industrial equipment). Japanese factory output has dropped dramatically, and U.S. factory output has stalled. All of these issues overlay the statements by Maersk that shipping is not needed.
The western economies are contracting in response to the collective energy policies of the Build Back Better climate change agenda, and the high cost of energy that comes from stopping energy production.
Energy production in western nations has been slowed or stopped (Build Back Better). Western nation inflation is being driven by higher energy costs as a result of less energy products being produced, oil, coal, gas. Western banking groups have raised interest rates to slow down the economic engines to meet the drop in energy production.
All of this is being done with intent, purpose and control. This is a managed decline.
1 week or weak? (headline)
I vote for weak
Auto Spell Check strikes again.
Must be a bigger article coming if this one slipped through the edit.
I loathe that autocorrect, esp on Android when one finger typing while at a stoplight.
But if you ask Bumbling Biden he would say 1 week, by the end of it everything will be back to normal.
Federal Congress is comp!etely against the American people…no trust whatsoever in them…
Congress is certainly doing nothing other than its usual noises which pass for empathy.
Oh they are busy as beavers in sending out emails begging for donations and using Trump’s name and or picture on most of them.
I delete them all.
I pay when services are properly rendered. Congress hasn’t rendered a beneficial service to me or most other middle class Americans since December of 2017. They should have had all of their paychecks withheld since then.
I mark them as SPAM and delete them. Sometimes you can flag them through your email service as spam and unsubscribe.
Anything with NRC, Ronna McDaniel, RNC, etc. I give locally to local candidates – don’t trust the national ones. I’m done with them.
Across the board, Congress is writing every scam “aid package”, ridiculous ” clean energy bills” and every other way they think of to create and maintain the rivers of kickback cash schemes. If mom’s cookie jar is almost empty, every kid that can reach the counter is grabbing for the last cookie. No difference at all than what is taking place across DC and the last dollars before it collapses.
Traitors are running our country…into the ground!
I believe that the Federal congress, with their catch and reward policy at the border, might actually have preemptively solved the overflowing inventory problem by artificially creating more demand for durable goods.
The invaders need lots of flat screen TVs and furniture for their government housing.
BlackRock housing perhaps?
All to be paid for by free Uncle Sugar money, generated under the MMT rubric.
Perhaps someone needs to subscribe congress critters to this site. It might open some eyes..
the wider their wallets get the more closed their eyes go..
Lol, this reminds me of a relative who once said, “When the head turns to the side, the foot drops.” when I asked/complained about why people sped up when they are getting passed on the road.
Nope … they’d just tell Merrick Garland we are terrorists with our Gadsden flags, and shut us down. And freeze SD’s bank account.
Washington DC and surrounding areas!
“Demand Side Inflation” my ass.
Energy
People = Battery …… The Matrix
Shortage Inflation.
They (the democrats) are purposely crashing the economy and peoples finances, living standards, etc. Then they tell you to go back to work and do it all over again. F*cking commie pieces of trash.
As inflation continues to decimate most Americans, has it peaked?
Let’s ask Her Eminence Mary Daly, San Francisco Fed Governor who today told Reuters…
“I don’t feel the pain of inflation anymore.”
Her salary? Nearly half a million dollars a year and who knows what else she may accumulate from insider trading.
So that’s that. Inflation over. Everybody get out there and do your patriotic bit and clean those warehouses out of their stock. That should help.
What a callous witch
People like her live in a rarefied world.
I don’t know where she has her residence but even if it is in the heart of dirty San Fran, surrounded by homeless people and addicts, I’d be willing to bet she’s never seen them. Because people like her are completely unaware of others. They are able to deny others’ existence, though how, I have no concept.
There is a good old British phrase often ascribed to people like her…”I’m all right, Jack”.
In other words as long as her world is intact, as long as she doesn’t feel the hideous tax which inflation is, as long as she can live her life unencumbered by the effects of her contribution to the policies which afflict others? She’ll be just fine. That’s all that matters to her.
And stupidly, she just told everyone else to have a piece of cake.
Need. More. Rope.
sure she has a car service to take her wherever she needs to go along with private air travels when she finds the need to leave SF
And the rest…
Her net worth is $60 million. She has not worried about money perhaps ever.
I’m not surprised. So what she earns at the Fed is just, shall we call it, walking around money.
Is that San Francisco speak for “Let them eat cake”? Ready the guillotines!
I do believe it is.
Will be curious to see what they do with all of those unsold goods.
Sell at a loss to move it, destroy some to reduce the oversupply or something other.
Perhaps a warehouse fire or vandalization so insurance can be used to cover the loss?
Black Fiday sales will begin around Labor Day.
Dismantle and repurpose parts that are repurpose-able? To uh, electric vehicles?
People will be able to buy what they WANT-new tvs and such ….at cheaper prices to move inventory.
But not be able to buy what they NEED -food
Now is the time for people to realize the difference between Want and Need.
Getting good prices on some practical, and useful tools might be an exception in that.
Tools can be used to directly support oneself or with some know-how used to repair/build things in exchange for appropriate barter.
..when more intelligent minds bring back our energy and economic policies to a sane state remember one word….commodities….especially copper….FJB and his band of misfits….
There’s always rope, and not long ago someone posted somewhere about guillotines… just sayin’
True. A field supervisor for our local EMC told me that expanding the grid for electric car charging stations will be damn near impossible: Basic bus bar is on a 6-month lead time across much of the US. That, and stepdown transformers such as are used to supply one block of homes: 10 to 12 month lead time.
Expand the grid? They cannot even keep up with required maintenance now.
The ” managed decline ” has a definite purpose and destination.

Yes, and her recommendations are similar to mine. Shop LOCALLY, use CASH, dump the big guys as much as is humanly possible and create your own “parallel society”. I like her a lot more recently than a few years ago. I feel she’s gotten more practical in her advice.
Fundamental signals:
what is the steel manufacturing situation, US and global?
what is the coke processing, US and global?
when you look at those two data points..the trend…what you find is a risk that merits serious worry.
we are entering depression phase 1.
we are already recession globally (2 bad quarters, 6 months of bad economic growth). I could make a convincing argument this started 9 month ago in terms of trend.
what is phase 1 depression: this is a negative growth data point. It can be evaluated based on durable goods and basic chemical processsing. (both energy and also material goods).
take a look at those key data points.
steel production
coke processing.
it’s not a very good signal.
there will be others.
phase 2 happens when the economic growth continues negative for 6 months. (my interpretation of a ph2 depression cycle).
phase 3 is the worst…major mergers, major defaults…money scarcity…hyperinflations…a very real food, water and energy scarcity..not just regional brownouts or some empty shelves…but literally soup kitchens on the street. This is WHEN WAR IS MOST LIKELY TO HAPPEN.
phase 4 is equilibrium. Either the economy recovers (by war or not), or it simply finds a newer balance and a new reality..I can safely say that unless the US can rapidly startup serious domestics manufacturing and processing industries and ramp up energy from oil, we are never going to see a good side of phase 4. It will be a new normal..It will be a dull and fearful world.
But then I am reminded that these things take time..and all is not lost. President Trump 2024!
say his name. Understand how this all gets fixed and we restore our nation (*and the world) with the proper leadership!
God Bless America
Black Swans tend to complicate plans and phases.
they certainly do.
President Trump is an enigma. Plainly the world has never seen a world power leader who can actually do business in an aggressive way but also one that rewards mutual trade and tariff outcomes
President Trump knows BIG BUSINESS ON THE WORLD STAGE.
He has recruited some of the most effective and intelligent teams to make his policies operate.
I don’t see President Trump as the Black Swan.
I see him as the Dark Knight, one whom we do not deserve, but need. A hero villain in a world where such enigmatic disruptors and creators are few and far in between.
What I consider Black Swans is the number of treasonous actions by the globalists to continue to hold him back with any measure necessary. That’s the reality we all need to start paying attention. We know what they are capable of. secret police, faked up criminal allegations, impeachment, family attacks, Bioweapon and the jab. They are not going to stop. We could not have possibly predicted they would go to these lengths. We are NOW inititated. Not IF, but when and how many more attacks will take place is yet to be seen. I see war. China, Russia and the US declaring nato art 5. I think there is going to be another major election fraud also. I just sense it based on the reality that no one seems to be asking the simple questions (we do, but largely few others are paying attention:
is dominion fixed?
are states going to go off the reservation again?
what happens IF kamala harris refuses to certify the election? (understand this clearly…we all know this was a power that Pence had, but refused to acknowledge…This will not be the case with Kamala. It’s going to be a show down. And I would imagine we are going to see another larger more kinetic event in DC this time..(2024)
is the DOJ still spying on President Trump and his associates?
Is the FBI manufacturing more fraudulent allegations and criminal conspiracy and collusion rhetoric in the media?
are the billionaires still allowed unfettered financial and human resource entry into the state election process?
Why is Julian Assange still locked up?
and the list goes on.
We know these things, but many just don’t pay attention to these questions. It’s status quo all over again.
the black swans will come in waves. leading to a military conflict…most likely russia but maybe china…and we should not underestimate a limited conflict with iran. they are openly talking about selling fissible material. No good.
God Bless America
Agree 100%.
I pray.
We are already in a fight to the death face-off with the forces of New World Order evil. Unfortunately, only a limited number of us are fully aware of the catastrophic threat to humanity.
I guess my point is that the “law of unintended consequences” has always (and will always) been the Achilles Heel of leftists and the power-mad.
The globalist / WEF crowd believes they have war-gamed this all out.
Hubris is the cardinal sin of the power-mad.
Well said, sir.
The developing issue being that while they appear to be holding sway here and in western Europe, it’s becoming clear that most of the rest of the world (ie. the Brics+, Arab Shieks, and much of Asia) aren’t going along.
It will also be fascinating to see how our “Super Rich” react when faced with the prospect of becoming significantly poorer due to our own economy’s continued downward spiral.
My guess is Soros and Gates will remain all in, while Musk has announced he’s left the party. That leaves Buffett and Bezos to choose sides, with the latter already having begun to publicly voice his displeasure at the inevitable outcome.
Unfortunately way too many people took the clot shots. We do not know exactly how many nor exactly how potent each vial was. If say 30% of the working class took them, then, we are in for some significant issues regardless of whatever else the globalists throw our way. It takes a significant number of educated and skilled people to manage modern infrastructure for even small or medium sized cities. Are enough of them healthy? Are enough of them going to survive? We do not know.
In my opinion, they will certainly NOT reach their ultimate goals this go round. Too many have awakened. But, it is not at all clear that civilization as we have known it will survive what they have already set in motion.
We can undo the damage to main street and economic structures in time, but, we can not do so without people who know what they are doing in many, many areas of main street industry. So, yes, their crap has backfired. But, the survival of civilization is not assured.
Food for thought… (as to “maybe Chyna”)

In one of his rare moments of neurological clarity, it was Joe himself who accidentally coined the most befitting moniker for Donald yet.. He truly is our nation’s “MAGA King!”
No ‘Swan’ here.. Irrespective of motive(s), this was purposeful!
still way too much oversupply of coke and steel….only reason they are coming to parity is the idling of some of the Chinese steel plants due to their real estate collapse…..not much demand for steel or the coke to make it when you are not building
If I can”t have my new iPhone every year, I’ll just die!
And as Tim Cook is shown the door, he’ll still be ranting about Trump.
Big corporate America, is going to bail on the Biden Admin…
It’s happened before and it will happen again…Same playbook.
Before or after the nationalization of industries start?
Maybe his covid re-emergence is not an accident?
Hoping before..
I’m thinking, the only love they have left in their bones is,….. the love of money..
Not supporting their demise..
Could it be that simple.?
How many ships are still anchored offshore waiting to be offloaded and trucked away from the Ports of LA-Long Beach?
Perhaps one of the reasons that production of Asian goods is down is because they can’t be sent to market.
There aren’t a lot of ships coming in from Asia to the Port of Long Beach these days. That backlog is long gone.
I keep my boat less than 1 mile from the photo up top in the article.
These WEF bastards and their government acolytes really do think they’re safe from any consequences don’t they?
Probably not what their personal demons told them…
Judging from their bold moves, it certainly seems so.
Oh, and given the way Senate Republicans slobber all over Christopher Wray when he deigns to show up and “testify”, I’d say the FBI has absolutely nothing to worry about.
So yeah, the Ruling Class feels invincible.
The Senate Republicans are probably being monitored by the FBI and they might feel they should be careful when asking the FBI questions for fear of retaliation. Chuck Schumer’s threat about “six ways from Sunday” certainly applies to certain members of Congress as it did to President Trump, and they have seen how the FBI viciously targets people from President Trump’s administration and his supporters. The FBI would not be as much of a concern to Democrats and RINOs because they mostly follow the WEF/UN agenda. Believers should pray and ask God to remedy the situation so that our Congress can function without fear and intimidation.
Ohhhhh Domino!
Tyrants always do.
You can bet their Praetorian Guards will not be eating bugs.
They do. And not only that, they are behaving as though they are already the rulers of the known universe. I’m praying they will have a very rude and harsh awakening.
Everyone could be in for a rough Christmas season. I hope we’re able to weather the headwinds of this economic storm. Can we do it? Americans are a very spoiled people, in my opinion.
They are hinting at a reduction of Halloween candy, so I would assume yes. And yes, we are spoiled from having everything we want and need, available when we want and need it.
I would start shopping for Thanksgiving, just to be sure….get the canned goods and bird…ol’ Tom can handle a few months in the deep freeze?
AG: I’m suspecting by your name you’re a farmer so I’ll defer to you-we’ve had a Big Bird in our freezer for 14 or 15 months and will cook it this holiday. Several other times we have had birds in the glacier enclosure and they cooled up delightfully.!
Hams are for the most part non existent. Been doing the same.
Sage advice.
Got 2 briskets and a rib roast for the holidays in the freezer.
4 briskets from St Patrick’s day I love corned beef
Halloween candy? This is getting serious.
On the bright side, I just remembered I’ve got a decent supply of Brach’s pumpkins in the freezer, ditto pecans, and tons of canned pumpkin, a pantry staple for one of my regular soups as well as holiday pies. (Aldi’s claimed there was a pumpkin shortage a few years ago, and I learn fast.) Also canned cranberry sauce (for cranberry butter), and frozen cranberries (for homemade sauce).
After eleven months of salutary eating habits, unbalanced meals become the watchword at holiday time. 😂
thanks for the laugh
hem sljod home made gifts are the best as made with love whether it be things or food find everyones favorite and while doing this it makes you happy and no profits to the evil ones nor sales taxes to the evil states
Is this why there are around 100 shipping size containers sitting on the parking lot of the local Target? Apparently the local Walmart has something similar. I have never seen such a thing in my life.
Imagine that does not come cheap with the pricing of shipping containers these days.
The Targets here have them in their parking lots too, been there a while
Has anyone in authority (talking to Republicans) marshalled up the courage to tell the truth; this economic crisis is wholly manufactured and intentional (and then explain why).
Silence is consent.
Greene, Boebert?
Perhaps I should have been more precise in my description of “authority”.
Leadership.
Walmart laying off hundreds in their corporate office. Anecdotal but cutting employee hours at store level. The recession signs are all over.
I have a family member who works for Sam’s Club/Walmart corporation. His store is being directed to turn OFF ALL ELECTRICITY from midnight to 1:30AM to “save on energy costs.” Store freezers are to be set at -11 degrees before going to OFF. My family member’s department has thousands of dollars of product that can hurt people if spoiled.
…nothing like food poisoning…
They want you to use self check out…
The recession signs are all over.
The Enemedia covering their ears and shouting; “la, la, la, la, la, la, la…..”
Heck we were already in recession since Biden stole the WH, this is going to be a full Blown Depression if not famine.
Doesn’t the current administration come close to treason?
Oh I should think they’ve exceeded expectations
Certainly sedition and espionage/sabatoge that rises to that level.
Seems to me that NOT defending the border qualifies……but, they are patching it now……just so that…..

Madagascar has joined the fun and is now rioting over food and energy costs.
Kind of ironic since the local Fox affiliate ran a Fox News story today (Marianne Rafferty reporting) about the new trend of eating insects and an insect processing plant in Madagascar.
Turns out, the insects in the insect plants harbor a LOT of parasites. Some of which can make humans sick or worse.
An added feature, not an unintended consequence.
where’s my puking green stuff emoji
And once that inventory is cooked off? Oh, shortages again.

All timed for after the midterms.

Oct 30 is end of Federal fiscal year…gonna be a bust this year
God willing, my 1994 Sears Kenmore fridge will keep on fridging!
Funny that….consider the unintended consequences of the WEF versus Asian producers of durable goods…
Wonder who is going to win the “You will have nothing and be happy” war?
Somehow, given the pix floating on the internet, don’t give me confidence in Old Klaus and his capabilities….
Our good friend Rah should be able to fill us in about trucks and the roads…on the days I commute to the west side of Chicago, there seems to be fewer trucks on Thursdays and Fridays…I used to have to add 15 minutes to my northbound commute (for those days).
Oh how I long for appliances made before 1998… I’m so jealous.
My big three (refer, washer, dryer) date from 1996. LP cooktop 1999. Oven and dishwasher are the real veterans, they date to when the house was new in the 60’s. Amazing American-made quality.
I remember about a decade ago replacing part of the air conditioning system at my parents house after mom died. We were early adopters of AC in the 50’s in our area. The compressor unit built by General Electric was nearly 60 years old when it finally quit.
I was going to leave the appliances when the house goes up for sale. I’m re-thinking that now. Don’t need them but one never knows. I have an extra dishwasher, working 20yo pull, sitting in the shop office. Think I’ll keep that too, was going to give it away.
My advice to anyone is learn how to fix things. Plenty of help is out there with the internet these days. Start simple and work one’s way up to more complex. Never too old. I started learning about 60 years ago, on my own. Keep those old appliances maintained. Is the condenser coil on that member’s 94 refer regularly vacuumed to remove lint and debris? One tip.
I cleaned the filters on my frigidaire dishwasher and have not put it back together correctly. Doesn’t engage. Lights come on then go off. Already watched a youtube video to no avail. Not the exact same model. I am hoping my son rescues me from it but he’s been sick. If he doesn’t, I’m going to the whirlpool store.
I have an old one too…it still works fine but I’ve considering getting a new one for fear this one goes out….but I haven’t been able to bring myself to get rid of a perfectly working appliance..
It’s been awhile but a youtube presentation by Tomas Schuman (Yuri Bezmenov) a former KGB agent that defected to our side in the mid 80’s detailed how all this had been planed and how they would use it to subvert our culture. He claimed it would be the Marxists but the National Socialist/Fascist/Corporatist Globalist Elites seem to be ones carrying out the plan.
He laid all out in the mid 80’s as a warning. Now the Elites are actually running the program out.
We were warned.

Thank you Sundance. I’ve oriented my plans around these world events for years now. I need a refrigerator and a dishwasher and I’m waiting for those big sales. I’ve also had some home projects planned and now those contractors and handymen are available due to the slow downs, and they want to please you rather than shoe horning you into their busy schedule and charging very high prices. I realize the overall news is very bad for our economy and so so many people, but having the longer view and being aware has really helped me. Thank you again.
Also, because I stocked up like a crazy person, when things were cheaper, I rarely need to go to a grocery store, or any store for that matter. I had to downsize the farm due to feed costs, like a lot of people, but I freely gave animals to people rather than sell them, knowing I was helping them. I don’t think anything I’ve done has been “popular”, just wise. I pray a lot, so I’m not patting myself on the back, I’m thanking the Lord for people like Sundance, brave enough to tell the truth so that I could be better prepared. When economies fall, timing is critical. I may downsize even more, we’ll see.
Here in FL I can’t find anyone available to work. The lawn services people (I don’t weed whack) will only come out at $1200 a day. For a single guy with a $500 weed wacker! I need a carpenter to rebuild a deck surface; the one who showed up to give me a quote was 3x higher than when it was installed 7 years ago and he couldn’t start before January. Two others I called didn’t even return my calls. My camper needs an ac repair-either new Freon or a replacement unit. I called 5 mobile repair companies. 2 are out of town until September, 2 have not called me back, and one said he’d come out but it was $200 to just look at it and that did not count in the final labor charge.
Send them south! It’s nuts down here!
Me either!!!
I’ve been waiting on French impact doors to replace the sliders since January. My dude can’t even get his caulk in Florida. Has it framed but no glass, maybe its on one of those ships. I need to see if my old electrician is available.
Bingo again Sundance. I have a hell of a time trying to tell people what’s really going on before it happens(always been a pet peeve and a curse to see that light coming towards you that no one else sees).
Your second paragraph is 💯. I’ve been based in Singapore/Malaysia since 2001 and that’s how it is.
I have a hell of a time trying to tell people what’s really going on before it happens(always been a pet peeve and a curse to see that light coming towards you that no one else sees).
Cassandra’s curse.
Welcome to the club.
Yeah. Ain’t it a bitch?
Checkbook economic outlook shows Walmart stores loaded with summer clothing and summer goods that aren’t selling. Bathing suit halves – $2. Two beach towels in a set – $5. Almost all clothing is on clearance with some things from last winter still on the racks. The home goods (curtains, towels, sheets, etc. not on sale) aisles are filled full. And I didn’t see anyone browsing.
.
I can vouch for noticing over stuffed racks of clothes at Wal-Mart. I don’t usually shop for clothing items at WM so I can’t speak to what the clothing racks normally look like. Today though, I went in looking for a cheap “dry-wicking” shirt for my visiting son to wear to the gym (I digress), anyway, the racks and shelves looked as though they were about to bust from having so many items stuffed on them. They had racks and racks of clothes marked down to $5, which is what we paid for the shirt.
Any chance with the oversupply of inventory that will be making its way to retailers so the cargo containers can be emptied, that the Christmas sales this year will become legendary?
“A great economic fracturing is taking place as the western nations intentionally shrink their economy”.
I’m old enough to remember when Americans wanted their children to have a better life than theirs and it was partially governments job to support their citizens achieve the “American Dream”. Most Americans still want that, the government obviously does not. A government intentionally trying to reduce the standard of living for their citizens is evil. Especially when the reasoning is based on the myth of a climate emergency. It’s a race to the bottom for western nations. If they keep pushing the only sane course is revolution.
America is being depleted and looted to build a New World Order and elevate the third word.
Net result = everybody equally poor ….. except for the ‘ big club ‘ manager class. Brave New World class structure.
Please, it’s the “big club” political class and globalist corporate C suites that will be OK.
our local walmart is packed to the gills.i don’t know what it is but every time i walk in walmart i have to take a dump.i think they are pumping some toxic crap in the air to make you spend money.anyway back by the tv section is the bathrooms and there has to be at least 25 65″inch tv’s stacked up next to the bathroom door.and they have been there for at least a month and a half.i would like to replace one of mine,so i will holdout til they really drop the price.i don’t need one but if the price goes low enough i will pull the trigger.
another thing as of the last 3 weeks or so they have actually had 3-4 checkers going.and good thing as i will not go thru self check unless i only have a couple things i can get in and out quick.
And the powers that be will hail this as positive news. Just once I want someone in power to just come out and tell the truth: “Never mind you’re struggling, can’t you see we are successful in manipulating the economy to accomplish our goal? You too, should be happy that we are masters of your domain.”
… and the Port of Oakland is backing up with undelivered containers. Why? Independent Truckers are protesting AB-5 … passed in 2019 … that strips them of their “independent contractor” status. Forces them to become employees of the Port … or pay heavy fees. So … the containers pile up, and the ships are rerouting to avoid Oakland.
Uh oh ! And the strike could spread …

My mower is in the shop, they can’t get the parts they need to repair it. A simple cable, no doubt sitting at sea.
I really don’t want to buy a new mower because the price of mowers has skyrocketed. I keep hoping I will find a cable off a junk yard mower.
bicycles and motorcycles have cables and levers and stop-ends and such on the hand brakes and shifters
if you know what it looks like on your mower and take measurements, you might be able to cannibalize what you need from other-than-lawnmower sources
Excellent article Sundance!
It doesn’t sound to me that Humpty Dumpty can be put back together again. What a MESS.
