Folks, I know times are rough right now for many people, but we have a long-time Treehouse friend who urgently needs our help.
Richard Stiller’s dog Dexter is having health issues and the vet in Southern California costs a bundle right now because of COVID stuff.
Dexter has been the loveable MAGA dog on various social media for a long time. He’s cute as a button and just all around great. He’s been sick for several days.
The dog hospital in SoCal charges a whopping $3,000/night for care. Richard and his wife have exhausted their resources to try and take care of Dexter at home. Now he trying to raise money to help heal his best friend and loyal companion in the hospital.
I’ll vouch for the authenticity of the need. Every $5 matters.
If you can help his Go Fund Me is HERE
Richard is on Twitter Here
Please keep Dexter and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Love to all.
I am humbly asking for your help. This is something I never thought I would be doing.

I no longer have the 4K per night it costs for the animal hospital here in SoCal.

My prayers will focus on Dexter until he is healthy again.
P.S. Sounds like price gouging to me. Yea, I know, california and wuhan flu and elitist, blah, blah, blah.
Another reason to avoid California.
The GoFundMe is going well. I can only hope that if I’m ever in need I’ll be able to count on such support.
By the way, I doubled my donation when I realized the recipient is a fellow squid (even if a bubblehead – no one’s perfect).
Please update us on Dexter’s status when you get a chance. Richard doesn’t seem to be keeping his posts current on Gab and I don’t use Twitter or Facebook.
As unpopular, more than usual, as this will make me … this is just flat out wrong. I love animals and as a lover of My Lord Jesus Christ, I’m a Born Again Christian, but this is wrong.
Why?
I am always happy to help a dog in need. Father, please put your healing hands on Dexter and restore him! Thank you and AMEN!!
This is what pisses me off about most vets.
Where is the concern for the animal???
But plenty of concern about becoming rich.
$3000 a night???
Disgusting..
The famous vet in England, Arthur White who wrote the lovable and worldwide popular books starting with “All Creatures Great and Small” under the pen name James Herriot mentioned this greed when he was towards the end of his life.
Some people think this is why he slided into depression.
Try $4,000 PER NIGHT!!! Read the 4:09 PM 1-15-22 tweet from Richard Stiller, the last tweet listed above.
The AMA is no better for humans.
So true. My son had emergency surgery in October, was in dire straits with impending sepsis and he is a single dad with no financial help from the ‘mother.’
He had insurance but the long stay in hospital, 6 days, amounted to $187,000 plus change. Insurance covers 70%. Not to mention surgeon’s fee, anaesthesia and lab and radiology fees.
We are all trying to come up with some money to help. But this does seem crazy that some people who don’t work or pay taxes have something like this covered by Medicaid.
Anyway, looks as if veternarianhospitals are just as bad.
My pleasure to help this beautiful soul… thanks SD for posting. Been there…know this well. :((
It’s another testament to the kind and good-hearted people Sundance attracts here.
I’m so very happy for them. And hope the care Dexter receives brings him back to good health.
My wife and I want to thank all of you beautiful people from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity, love, and prayers.
God bless you all!
We love you all! ❤
All of your wonderful comments and love has brought us to tears this morning.
I will keep everyone posted on the donation twitter thread.
Thanks again and God bless you all.
I pray for a good outcome… Don’t return the money until you see how much the treatments will be. God Bless
Please just keep us updated. Lots of love and prayers for your boy Dex!
Greetings Richard, the Mrs and Dexter –
I don’t have money to give as I live mostly on SS income. but I may have something much more useful. food as healing medicine. And Dexter should like it too, since my recipe contains two ingredients that cats, dogs and people seem to like — eggs and milk. I also add yogurt. organic plain with no added sugar.
I have a long story which goes back to the early 2000’s when I was taking care of my Dad, a retired FDNY grunt. He had both a heart and lung condition. But that’s a story for another time – right now I want to pass on some simple info that I believe will help Dexter and you and your wife especially with the air thick with covid bugs. Do what ever the vet requires you to do. This will in no way interfere with his or her protocol.
Hopefully you will have some dinero left over after you pay the vet bill. the two products can be found on Amazon and while not exactly cheap I don’t blink even on my limited income because I know what a healing power house I have stumbled upon. These are NOT my affiliate links — I make not one penny recommending these products.
FYI – besides stunning my Dad’s doctors, I had a cat, Suzie, that lived to age 22 on this simple formula. Suzie pasted away, at home, in her sleep the day after Thanksgiving 2021.
here’e the two products links:
egg protein powder:
and bovine colostrum:
Note: the colostrum comes in various sizes/various prices. I buy the largest one because I make this for 3 people several times a week. I gave it everyday to Suzie
Suzie also liked raw milk and knew the difference between it and half&half. I’d drive 30 miles round trip to buy that in SC twice a month.
in a small to medium size mixing bowl with about a tablespoon of warm water- I put a level teaspoon of colostrum powder first, mix it, then add a teaspoon of egg protein powder product. (the milk powder dissolves easier, so do it first). Add a little more warm water if needed to smooth out any lumps. Add a heaping tablespoon of plain organic yogurt – blend well. for people – I sweeten with some stevia and or honey or fruit. Dogs cannot have xylitol sweetener, not sure about stevia.
We just connected through Twitter. Reach out with any questions there. I am queensmarymac. My description there says I like cats, but actually I like many animals. I hope to hear good news from your quarter real soon.
Wow Queensmary, thanks for your recipe. I am always interested in food as medicine and so will be trying your recipe for my mom who is complaining about severe pain in her left breast. God bless you.
Also, would love to hear your story some time.
If PJ had asked for help, every single one of us who could would, gladly, with love. Please don’t begrudge Dex this generosity.
Maybe “Peoria Jones” has more class in her little finger than Richard Stiller will ever have in 20 lifetimes?
The left has their gender confused adults, men who want to compete as girls and on our side we have MAGA, Trump supporting, Conservative dogs?
“Dex” is a dog, not a human being. Parents are being booted out of Ronald McDonald Houses because they are unvaccinated and can’t afford to be near their dying children so we consciencly choose to spend $40,000 on a middle aged dog. ! Got it!
As long as we have our priorities straight.
You have made your point that you don’t agree with this. However, I think you are way off base in pitting one Treeper against another. That is not what this site is about, nor has it ever been.
I won’t neglect one Treeper for another, either.
How have we neglected them if they haven’t asked for help? I don’t recall seeing any other GoFundMe campaigns listed. Maybe you can coordinate with those that are in desperate situations and start funding campaigns. I think you are being unfair to everyone here, because you don’t approve of what the campaign was for.
This campaign will go whichever way it will go and my opinion makes no difference.
I took a stand which makes me very unpopular here but I am standing against something I think is very wrong, on multiple levels.
I mentioned earlier because it is almost still breaking news, that Ronald McDonald Houses are booting out unvaccinated parents . What do you think Jesus Christ would say to all this? Do you think Our Lord would approve of giving $40,000 to an animal that has certainly outlived any comparable wild animal, twice over, in lieu of keeping a mother or father by the side of a dying child?
Can we in good faith support animals for just their companionship? I think so. Like many things, context is everything. It’s a judgement call.
I’d want my pastor to drive a new car. Do I think a Rolls Royce is appropriate like Jim Baker was driving?
Taking a stand is one thing, but you took it further by insulting Mr. Stiller.
If I insulted anyone here than that is what had to be. It’s a mad world. Dogs are worth more than people to some folks.
Interesting that you didn’t comment on my WWJD scenario.
I can’t control anyone but myself. And I choose compassion and love for whoever asks for it.
Why put labels on Mr Stiller? Those are the actions that keep us divided.
Last I read over $100K raised for the family being booted out of Ronald McDonald House.
Envy is unattractive. Many here helped the people being booted from Ronald McDonald house and many other people in need.
As stated above I did not see a request to help Peoria or I am sure many would. One can not provide assistance without a request and a method for providing for said aid. Perhaps you could provide that instead of attacking people for being good-hearted.
The money raised is not all from CTH, the request was posted to Twitter and GAB as well as to many other places.
The vet bill is expensive due to not only being in CA but to the tests, IV meds and oxygen which is a more intensive level of care.
The world is made up of dog people and non-dog people. I see the difference anytime someone encounters my four rescues. I do not judge them I just note the difference. To me dogs are one of the most enriching thing in life. Dog people understand, non-dog folks think I’m nuts. I will assist these folks because I’ve been there. One of my rescues needed Asher gall bladder removed or be euthanized. I did the former and enjoying my second year with her post surgery. At 13 she is full of life and energy. I’m not unrealistic, I had to say goodbye to my 18 year old Yorkie 2/8/21 and as I prayed to God to guide me, I knew it was time.
The only thing in this story is the cost of veterinary care. My dogs surgery and a week hospitalization was $ 6500 at a major university vet school/hospital. I research and question my vets just like my docs.
Thank you. We spent around $300 monthly (insulin, needles, prescription food) for 5 years for our diabetic pup. She passed this year at the age of 10. No regrets for a loved family member.
LOL. If we met, I would no doubt confuse you. I am a well developed cat person who secretly loves dogs. I just started with cats first, and one rescue just seems to lead to another. I’ve have had cats since 1975. Actually, I did have a Beagle for a very short while as a kid in Queens, NY. “Ralph” got hit by a car. (Just another reason why I really don’t like Fauci, the puppy killer) But yes, vet bill are very high for dog owners. My cats are all indoor cats. They go, once when they are kittens for a check up and a rabies shot and then maybe again near the end of life. Some have died at home. I hear of so many dogs with allergies these days. Personally, I think it’s too many shots.
Can someone post some past pics of Dexter ? I don’t really remember seeing to many on CTH. Thanks
He is the dog in the top of the thread.
Welcome to the Treehouse tyshab! 😀
Hi Ad rem have you any updates on Chester? Ty
Oh dear never mind, I just went to Richard’s twitter.
Just devastated and praying for the family. Thank you anyway.
I’m sorry I’m late to this Mims. Yes, Dexter had cancer in several organs throughout this body, and Richard did the only sane and loving thing he could. 🙁
Doggie heaven got another hero , God Bless Dexter.
