Folks, I know times are rough right now for many people, but we have a long-time Treehouse friend who urgently needs our help.
Richard Stiller’s dog Dexter is having health issues and the vet in Southern California costs a bundle right now because of COVID stuff.
Dexter has been the loveable MAGA dog on various social media for a long time. He’s cute as a button and just all around great. He’s been sick for several days.
The dog hospital in SoCal charges a whopping $3,000/night for care. Richard and his wife have exhausted their resources to try and take care of Dexter at home. Now he trying to raise money to help heal his best friend and loyal companion in the hospital.
I’ll vouch for the authenticity of the need. Every $5 matters.
If you can help his Go Fund Me is HERE
Richard is on Twitter Here
Please keep Dexter and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Love to all.
I am humbly asking for your help. This is something I never thought I would be doing.
I'm raising money for Help Dexter with 3 nights at the animal hospital.. Click to Donate https://t.co/Cdzq0MW6ap

I no longer have the 4K per night it costs for the animal hospital here in SoCal.

Just donated to help Dexter
It’s great so many people pitched in, hope Dexter gets the help he needs and the doctors and staff do a good job for him!
I hope they can save him. I’ve had a lot of dogs over the years and some of the health issues are just heartbreaking to deal with. Would be so nice to have a victory once in awhile.
Just spent 4500.00 on my old german shepherd. She was choking on a ball. All good perhaps a little brain damage from lack of air. Care Credit has saved the life of so many of my dogs am still paying it off but have my pals. Love to Dexter from my three fuzzy beasts.
Sundance, thanks for the alert. I Tweet with Richard and Dex nearly every day and I’ve been praying for them since Dex got sick. So hopeful the vets can help Dex and God sends some healing angels their way.

No tears in Heaven. Sad day today I’m in tears today.
Just looked at his twitter and the original hospital couldn’t take Dexter but they found one who could and they checked him in… Fingers crossed
God bless Dexter and his family. I am praying for you. Get better Dexter!!!
I know this pain, and this makes my heart hurt. It’s a weird day if I logon to Twitter and don’t see Dexter in my timeline with several somethings in his mouth. I did have a bit of a problem including a tip for GoFundMe, considering their questionable selectivity when allowing certain fundraising efforts. Still had to help out…gladly. God bless, Dexter. Get well soon.
You don’t have to tip
Rest well…heal up Dexter. Your peeps need you. As the spouse of a retired veterinarian…I know how much our furbabies add to our lives.
Our prayers are with you for a speedy recovery for Dexter
The donations are going very well. I’m very proud of the Last Refuge community.
You folks are awesome.
$3000 a night!!! Mt vet charges about $150 a night. Get the Hell out of California while you can.
It’s about 500 a night here and yes, I am also in CA.
I think that’s including necessary treatment. Pets = not cheap… but worth every penny. :^)
I’m in CA and my vet charges me $40 per night. Not all areas of the state charge the same.
It depends upon where you live and the ability of the locals to pay. For example my vet charges $55 to fix a male cat and $60 for a female. Drive up or down the Valley 50 miles to Bakersfield or Fresno and the same procedure will cost almost $200.
I’m in Ohio, and we don’t have your rates. God bless your vet for doing it for the animals, and not the money.
Yes, my vet is an incredible, God fearing man. He and I are the same age and well past retirement age. He owns all his stuff, buildings, equipment, etc., so low overhead. And he loves helping critters. He has no intention of retiring. If not for him I would not be able to take in all the abandoned critters I have.
In my town of about 30,000 people, very rural, the vet charges twice what your vet charges for spay/neuter. About half the people can not afford it, so therefore too many abandoned and abused animals. Farm animal abuses is rampant here also.
On the flip side there are people who can afford to spay/neuter their pets but do not. I see too many people trying to give away kittens/puppies from the tailgate or back end of brand new very expensive vehicles.
God bless Dexter and his loving family. Thanks to all of the wonderful Treepers for their generous support.
Could never not help … Luv from Bodhi (Yellow Lab), Archie (Golden Doodle) & Johnny (sheepadoodle) xoxo
Same here! Had to help and hope all goes well!
Same here…donated with prayer attached and love from my English labs, Scouty Scout and Spirit (aka Brisket).

Hope all goes well for this Fine K9! Just got over a scare with my bud, Rebel the Dog, he’s fine now, so I had to donate! Good Job Treepers!!
So happy your little Rebel is doing well! Yay!!!
Thank You Ma’am. He’s currently crashed out on my feet! I ain’t moving for a while. Just glad to have him ok. “And GOD made a Dog….”
Take Dexter to Mexico. Many Awesome veterinarians throughout the country. Get care for 80% less. Even the vets are greedy in California. Praying for Dexter.
Did what I could; Love you Dexter, hang in there little one!
Just donated and saw the total. WOW! This certainly is a testament to all Treepers.
I have pets and I know how difficult this can be. I hope and pray he can recover.
Money won’t be a problem now. It’s in the hands of God and the vets.
I can feel the pain.
On September 29th our family lost our smallest member, our 14yr old Boston Terrier who was also (coincidentally) named Dexter.
He became unable to eat or drink, and vomited every time he tried. Unfortunately, we could not afford expensive vet bills, and waited too long (thinking he would recover) before taking him to the local animal hospital.
By the time they were able to diagnose his problem (a completely blocked digestive tract from a toy obstruction) he was too weak to survive the necessary surgery.
We lost him. I hope your Dexter fares better.
Oh my,,, that is heartbreaking! I’m so sad and sorry for your loss. It is heartbreaking when we lose our four legged kids.
TY
I wish they had used GiveSendGo. I’m happy so much was raised so far.
darn it…I have watched Dexter in all his charm for a couple of years on Twitter. like the rest of you guys I am heartbroken and know the Stiller’s are absolutely sick. Praying for God’s healing and comfort for Dexter and the family.
From a former TM to an MM, my prayers are with you and your family.
Lord,we come boldly to your throne of grace in time of need.We bring to you right now this loving animal who needs your touch upon him.We bind up the spirit of infirmityfrom operating against him any further in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. We speak life and health to Dexter in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.Lord ,we thank you that your love is upon this animal because he is part of your creation.Lord ,we thank you for your miraculous hand upon him now,for your glory. We praise you,we worship you,we glorify you.In the name above all names Jesus Christ of Nazarath,Amen.

I’ve missed seeing Dexter since dropping Twitter. Hope my bit can help out a few friends I made here! Prayers for a full recovery Richard “Golden Advice”! BD
Update on Twitter:
Dexter is getting oxygen, IV, and everything he needs overnight at the hospital.
This is easily the best vet we’ve ever been to. Amazing people.
Again, thank you!
Excellent!!!

Update at 8:45 from Richard:
”You all are just incredible. My wife and I want to thank all of you beautiful people again.
Hopefully we can sleep tonight knowing Dexter is in the best care.

God bless the Stillers and Dexter. Glad to see they raised more than enough for the hospital. I had to say goodbye to my beloved Pug Rosie today after she succumbed to pneumonia after surgery. I will be praying for Dexter and a good outcome. Please post an update to let us all now how he’s doing.
Prayers to you, Marie.
Oh, Marie, I’m so so sorry. G-d bless you and Rosie. And prayers.
So sorry to hear about your sweet Rosie. ❤️
🙏🏻♥️
Get well Dexter!
Donated in honor of my diabetic pup who sadly passed this year of congestive heart failure. We had to make the awful decision to let her rest peacefully after 3600+insulin shots.
Donated in honor of my beloved Cavalier, Daisy, who has a seizure disorder. The costs are unreal. Praying for Dexter and his parents.
I’m a dog and cat mama, 5 pups and 5ish (1 is feral and just visits for a cot and a hot) cats. They are family, in every sense. Two dogs and all the cats are rescues cuz I can’t say no lol.
So I’m praying for Dexter because I know what it is to love your 4 footed best friend. Get well soon Dex❣
I hope he gets better.
God Bless Dexter & God Speed to that Doggie ,Just kicked in & that felt good !!!! Praying for that pup !!!!

Finding this hospital is the best thing that happened to us in the last 10 days.
What a frustrating and emotional ride.
Thank you so much to all of you beautiful people.

Dexter’s doctor just called and said it likely isn’t cancer based on x-rays and blood work.
They think it’s severe bacterial pneumonia and his prognosis is good so far with a few days in the hospital.
🙏🐶🙏
It’s good to hear. Let’s get that pneumonia gone. I am very happy.
certainly the initial news is better than it could be.
that is recoverable.
good to hear he has a chance.
have had my share of vigils – never easy.
Dear Lord, please bless dexter, his family, and his care team – may they get it right.
thought of this as soon as pneumonia was noted and because of their location –

Crossing my fingers & thanks for the update !!!! Lets go Dexter !!!!
Thanks for the info. I donated and pray Dexter fully recovers. Close neighbors to Dexter as we are in Oceanside,CA
Praying for Dexter & family – speedy recovery, God is good.
Donated. Not sure what’s wrong, but I hope they can help save him.
Hubby and I have the 19. 😷
I’ve been kicking it today. Finally saw the tweet! Ahhh! Even though he’s reached and exceeded the amount I donated anyway. Follow up care can get expensive.
Aw that’s so sweet Suz. You and the hubster get well too!
Thank you for posting Sundance; I never would have known to donate since I’ve been tossed from Twitter.
Huge prayers for Dexter sent up.
My puppy
Oh beautiful 😍
Three grand a day is an out and out gouge. The vet should be fired for being so greedy.
I have to admit I thought it was high. Up in Redding Ca. I think it is 300- 500 a night . Maybe it is Doggie ICU ???
Yes that’s exactly what it sounds like, he’s being constantly monitored…
He’s receiving round the clock care, so that’s very expensive even here in rural Oklahoma. I’d gladly pay that for my babies if I could.
Wonderful news for such a good boy!!! (and loving parents)! 🙂
having lost two goldens to cancer i was really hoping it was something els . prayer can be a powerful medication .Get well Dexter R.D.
thank you Sundance for this article. It is a great barometer for us as a people. A hundred years ago, who would have thought of spending the mortgage payment on a pet. No less than a few months rent in most States.
There was a young wife with children here facing homelessness with her husband because of apparent mistakes they had made in changing jobs and handling their finances etc. I wish I could remember her username here. I distinctly remember she was the member of the family that was the actual Treeper and at that point in time she had been posting here for a few years.
I believe this article … “is a great barometer for us as a people.” It’s a strange world, to me anyways, where full term babies are not considered human beings and ….
