Senator Rand Paul (MAGA-Lite, KY) took to the senate floor to outline the insufferable nonsense behind the impeachment narrative. Using his time to call-out examples of DC representatives initiating confrontation; and simultaneously putting the GOPe crowd on notice that he will do everything possible to put them on the record; Rand Paul fires back with some excellent oration. WATCH:
It is also being reported Senator Paul will file a point-of-order in advance of the impeachment trial to put Republicans on record for their position. “Rand Paul will make a point of order to dismiss the impeachment trial this afternoon. It’ll get Republicans on the record for how they might vote in a trial. You need 67 votes to convict. So if 34 Republicans vote to dismiss the trial, that means Trump will be acquitted.”
I did not realize that during the short period President TRUMP was in office someone has tried to off Rand now TIMES 3. And that is just what we know about.
I am for major fines and removals when you do incite violence, like Maxine the Mouth and #HeelsUp. Impeach them both.
MR Paul – you are participating in the fraud with your insistence that you did not and would not vote to overturn the election. It will only get worse – HR- 1 is coming followed by censorship of gun and voice.
Rome is burning and all you are doing is giving speeches. Bloviator. Weak. Pathetic.
He did not “insist” that he wouldn’t overturn the election.
He believes that it is not Congresses role to overturn a presidential election that the state legislatures (and one Assembly) approved. It is these weak or corrupt Republican legislatures that had the Constitutional right to decertify the election when the saw some of the evidence in their local Committee hearings but they failed to do so.
The high and low courts also failed to hear any of the evidence of fraud so if Congress tried to overturn an election based on fraud that hadn’t been proven in a court of law it arguably would be unconstitutional especially in the minds of the Supreme Court so the election would never have been overturned by Congress or the SC unless serious and honest investigations and trials proved the fraud altered the election. The Constitution does not provide enough time to follow this path due to the fixed dates of power transfer.
I think Senators Hawley and Cruz realized this but were trying to submit election fraud evidence to the Senate floor for the future record but McConnell ensured that didn’t happen.
Castigating Rand Paul after he placed himself in another political pressure cooker is not reasonable. There are too many insatiable critics visiting here that expect or pretend to expect perfection in everyone that steps up. This only causes division. I think many are Democrat stooges following a script.
well said!
“unless serious and honest investigations and trials proved the fraud”
PDJT attorneys, along with Sidney Powell and others, had more than evidence to prove both fraud and cover-up. The Supreme Court could have examined the evidence.
Rand Paul voted to certify a fraudulent election. He admitted to believing that it was fraudulent at the time. That makes him a coward in my book. He’s not as bad as most in the Senate, but we can’t trust one single one of them with McConnell in the leadership.
Agreed.
Dems would never have done what Coward Rand did and stay mum about the Steal they just admitted they saw.
You just can’t count on him.
But to make a big speech that goes half way but gets max publicity, well, he and Ted Cruz specialize in those.
We’re so used to silence and bribe taking treachery that we grasp at small potatoes like this.
I cannot believe Scott Adams said he wants to endorse Rand for 2024 now.
So Rand thinks it’s ok for Iran to have nukes but probably isn’t bribed.
Sorry, I am looking for more than a “Shook One.”
He is a mush at times. Very perplexing
Congress has that authority, for many reasons, including a time when the legislatures have engaged in corruption themselves. They were ALL cowards and afraid to perform their constitutional duty to Reject corruption and fraud.
A very reasonable position and I agree. No body is perfect and nothing is absolute. Sundance and this sight have in the past provided very well thought out analysis, but recently there is much more lashing out without taking time to read and think it through.
Let me say something about proven fraud. There is and has been proven fraud in elections! Anyone who disputes that is grossly ignorant of our history. That being said, I have a hard time saying all the anomalies in this election are fraud. They could be errors or incompetence which are in a way fraud, because if nothing is done to evaluate errors and incompetence, then the people in charge are defrauding the taxpayers by ignoring how that money is used.
The only way to work through all the election issues is for more transparency. Let’s take dead people voting. It needs to be explained to America why and how this happens. Thorough examination will identify the root cause and lead to a process that ensures it never happens again. If government officials simply say “oh well, it’s only a few” that is a sign they don’t care about the use of taxpayer dollars and are not worried about losing their jobs. If they are not held to account, why should they bother? Why should they try to do better if union rules don’t reward the highest performers? Why should low performers try to do better when wages are not tied to performance?
Deep rooted apathy and incompetence are at the core of many of the election issues that need resolution. Not an easy thing to change and simply calling everything fraud is not solving the problem. The basic systems and processes need to be addressed by strong leadership that can change the culture of government workers. I know, I was there for 15 years and saw some efforts but not commitment to make it happen.
In all fairness in the absence of Federal legislation it is up to the states to certify their results just as Senator Paul stated. Like him I would rather the state legislatures picked POTUS than our Congress picked POTUS. The Republican controlled legislatures in Michigan, Wisonsin, Arizona, Georgia and Penn could have and should have certified Trump as the winner in those states.
I would also like the State legislatures to do their jobs. However; what is the point of having Congress vote on the results of the election if they have no authority to overturn. Are they simply ‘Yes Men’? I suppose that is possible; however, I will not vote for a Senator to be an unthinking yes man who refuses to stand up for what he believes.
Paul is one of my Senators, I’ll likely be voting against him. Stand for your convictions or don’t stand at all.
MAGA-Lite, perfect characterization of Rand.
Just MAGA enough to get re-elected, not MAGA enough to do anything substantial thereafter.
Still, better than Lindsey Graham.
Way Better than Lindsey
MAGA-Lite. I agree. Rand Paul should have objected to the electoral results from the fraud contested states on Jan 6. I will NEVER forget that traitor like action. You condoned fraud Senator Paul.
Lets not shoot the messenger just because we don’t like his news. Technically he’s probably right. We will all be able to find out just how PDJT feels about the Rand once he makes it public. Rand supported POTUS at times when there were a lot of crickets. Let’s let our POTUS in Mar A Lago settle this one.
Agreed
The day I find a politician who I agree with 100%, who I approve of everything they do, is the day I know I have become a brain dead Libtard and joined the Democrat Party, because that’s what they do.
My goodness, if even John Roberts can’t be pressured into being involved in this kangaroo court, it ought to tell you this is not legitimate.
Rand Paul and Tulsi Gabbard as a unity ticket in 2024.
I’d consider it.
MAGA is broader than the GOP. People who would never vote capital-R Republican turned out to vote for Trump in 2016 and 2020 — just look at the turnout in Florida.
I’d rather see Kristi Noem as the candidate. Let Paul or Gabbard be her VP.
Noem? That Noem who attended The Fraud’s Installation? Nope.
Nope
Wel, at least he’s holding them publicly accountable.
I was very entertained today (tongue in cheek). I watched Tucker from last night where it appears the networks are pulling out their Long Knives on each other. Of note the story re Joe Scarborough and the Rickie Lee Jones song “Little Mysteries.” You have to read the lyrics. I wore my CD out.
I have never walked in Rand Paul’s moccasins and the violence against him. Despite his salient points re others inciting violence and objections “Former President Trump” might finally get a word in edge wise. You know like how Congress was going to finally hear the objections to the vote when suddenly “out of nowhere” all that was shutdown by a HORDE OF VIOLENT TRUMP SUPPORTERS. I wish Rand had said all that he did and added at the end “LET THE GAMES BEGIN!” The movie Gladiator comes to mind. If any MSM outlet covers it I believe we will TRULY BE ENTERTAINED. Is it true that Leahey “felt sick” and went to the hospital today? I have a twisted sense of humor but I am laughing at that notion.
I don’t always LIKE Rand – but this speech I DO LOVE.
Which is not to say that he shouldn’t have contested the electoral results, but he, again – was spot-on with where the responsibility lies.
That being said – we have WAY MORE LEVERAGE with our STATE LEGISLATORS – and they are WAY MORE ACCESSIBLE than the crapheads that hide in DC and make us COME THERE to address our issues. Which we cannot even do with DC ON LOCKDOWN – no, there’s NO PATTERN TO BE SEEN HERE. D’s will RAM THROUGH legislation that the dementia-ridden puppet will sign, and we are kept behind barbed wire – POWERLESS TO LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD. If the ELECTION was not a COUP – the EXCLUSION OF THE CITIZENS FROM OUR CAPITAL CERTAINLY IS.
Let’s see how much damage they can do, without the watchful eye of citizens in the capital building – between now and mid-march.
So while I don’t agree with Rand all the time – this particular speech WAS STELLAR.
TRUMP/POMPEO or TRUMP/DESANTIS 2024.
Rick
Pompeo/Gates or Desantis/Ivanka
The only criticism I have senator of Paul’s argument is that the republicans didn’t come out strongly against their ‘friends and colleagues’ incendiary speech to incite violence is it’s too little too late to bring it up now.
