I’d pay at least $100 to know what John Roberts is thinking of this charade. Guess we’ll have to wait decades until he retires and writes his memoirs. Lol, I’ll probably be dead before then…

      Sooz,

I chuckled when I read your comment.

I had just listened to a clip of Justice Roberts reading a question on whether it was worse for President Trump to hold aid to Ukraine for 58 days than President Obama withholding it for over 1,000 days at a time the Ukrainians needed it urgently. As I listened I thought I bet he can’t believe he has to read these comparisons when one President showed so much more apprehension for a country in danger than the other.

I thought your comment funny enough to read to my husband. He took it very seriously and said, ‘I don’t really care what Justice Roberts thinks. He has been a real disappointment.’ So I guess we won’t be buying his book to put on the shelf for our future grand children to read. Ha.

I care what the Chief Justice thinks because he just might be getting an education on the insanity and corruption of the Left. He had to come down from his ivory tower to witness every minute of this sorry spectacle. True, he’s often been a disappointment and probably has his own corruption niche, but he hasn’t been 100% bad during PTrump’s term. So I hold on to hope the Chief Justice is still somewhat salvegable.

Question–the Dems. keep saying all other Presidential impeachments had witnesses…did those impeachments bring brand new witnesses into the Senate side of the impeachment or were the witnesses used part of the House side of the impeachment?

  4. I just sent the following message to both of my useless NC Senators. “I cannot express to you how furious I am over this sham impeachment. HOW was it even accepted by the Senate? Since when do we impeach a president based on the thinking processes by which he reaches a decision? Ukraine GOT the aid. They got it by the date they were supposed to get it. They did nothing special to get it. CASE CLOSED!”

It’s a bit ironic and at the same time infuriating when they talk about abuse of power as an impeachable offense.

But only the House managers are the ones who have committed that very offense.

Same record over and over – We know what our crimes are…let’s say they did it!

Quite consistent and predictable from the libs/evildoers.

    • Mike Robinson says:

No, it is not valid … as 31 state attorneys general carefully spelled out in 14 pages sent to every Senator last week. The Senate should reject the articles as unconstitutional… because they are.

The accused would never face “indictment, trial, conviction and punishment” because no violation of the United States Code exists, nor anything else that would be of interest to any Court. Instead, these are a classic “Bill of Attainder,” which the Constitution expressly forbids.

Lawfare, Inc. wants to redefine the Constitution itself to be a weapon of war. Just as it tried to redefine the obstruction statute about 20 different ways in Volume 2 of the Lawfare Report … until AG Barr turned their entire “novel interpretation” gambit on its face. The US Senate needs to do exactly the same thing now: “Unconstitutional!”

Answer: No. If they didn’t follow the rules, then the end product is invalid. Also, if the President is acquitted in the Senate, there is then no impeachment. Clinton was found guilty by a majority, but not by enough votes to remove. That’s why he remains impeached. So Crazy Nanzi doesn’t know what she is talking about…again.

      Liked by 1 person

      • Mr e-man says:

I don’t think that is true. I think they vote on the charges which requires two thirds majority to convict. If convicted, they vote again on whether to remove from office.

Clinton was impeached, and was not convicted because there was not a two thirds vote. The vote to remove therefore, did not occur.

        • antiqueiron says:

My understanding is you can be acquitted of the charges, convicted but not removed, or convicted and removed. If you are convicted, then you are impeached. If you aren’t convicted, then you are then not impeached. That’s why Trump (if acquitted) would not be impeached. Pelosi was wrong when she stated that “impeachment is forever.” Clinton was impeached, but not removed. So he must have been convicted. I’m going to have to research this to refresh my memory, as I’m not sure now what happened back then. I could be wrong.

After the illegal unconstitutional process of Schiff, they got their full House vote and sent it to the proper Judiciary committee.

Then that committee rammed it through without allowing Trump to defend himself. He challenged their process so they just ended it and Nancy told them to write articles of impeachment.

    • Actually he is right. That’s how this case got here. No constitutional authority could deny them. No judge could claim their articles were invalid. That job can only be carried out by a believer and defender of the US Constitution, namely, the august, pure as the driven snow, US Senate, greatest deliberative body in the world (NOT). Smart Founders made it two-thirds. Why would they ever think the Senate could be trusted? You see they got it right!
Senate was not worthy of trust!!
How will it turn out? Flip a coin
In a court of law, impeachment wouldn’t have a chance. Here? Well, impeachment seems to be fun! Right?

This has turned out to be an utterly futile exercise. For the Managers, each question is simply a trigger to set off a series of talking points, none of which has anything to do with what was asked. Without an active chairperson overseeing the discussion, that goes unchallenged, and nothing useful emerges.
