Mick Mulvaney Discusses Possible Shutdown and Border Security Negotiations…

Acting White House chief-of-staff Mick Mulvaney appears on Fox News to discuss the ongoing political efforts of the resistance movement, Nancy Pelosi’s faux-negotiation strategy, and the larger objective to secure the southern border.

In the distant background, President Trump is already building enhanced fencing to secure the U.S-Mexico border and the larger conversation is about the politics of funding. Mulvaney notes the funding for border security can come from a variety of mechanisms available to the President, so the issue of direct funding for a border wall is essentially a political argument where democrats must maintain the optics of resistance.

All of that said, it appears President Trump is guiding the resistance toward the brightest exposure on their radical agenda items.

AOC has hastened the exposure of their radical agenda. The radical agenda I was, heretofore, cloaked for consumption by the more sane. But even AOC has had to walk back the “unwilling to work” stuff but she can’t bury it, like the old days, because the internet is watching and recording.

Clown shoes, indeed! Look at them falling all over themselves to try to prevent Northam, Fairfax, and Herring being tossed out of office. Problem: the next in line for Governor is a Republican!! So never mind the SJW BS, it is truly all about power….and we all know it corrupts.

Mick is most competent but he sure doesn’t hit hard, more like a tap. Disappointed he couldn’t broadly laugh at Chris for digging up “hypocrisy” of trump hiring illegals. Gimmie a break – how about the hyprocricy of running for gov in state of virginia calling your republican opponent a racist while you and the top 3 leaders are now wrapped in blackface or metoo scandals? And trump hiring illegals from waPo why not go after Washington post – like – how can we trust it? He just ran from the fight. Weak.

    Indeed Sundance.

It’s frustrating to some extent, but many of the fourty newly elected democrats didn’t run on pure obstruction and I can guarantee the “moderate’s “ who flipped a few seats around me didn’t run on some Green New Deal and the wacko birds pushing it…..

Thbat may be true (on what policies the newly “elected” Democrats ran), but that’s actually irrelevant now.

What IS now relevant is – what are those newly “elected” Representatives going to say and do about these extremely radical proposals? Are they going to push back against AOC’s Green New Deal, or Kan-I-laya Harris’ socialism, and are the newbies really going to actively advocate truly moderate policies?

My bet is they all will kneel, kiss the ring, and obediently do whatever their party leaders tell them to do, which will be 100% in concert with the eneMedia Leftwing Globalist Narrative writers.

Is it a big beautiful wall? No.

But it is Far more than we would have gotten with Any other ‘16 candidate!

And we know why he hasnt built…not his fault and not for lack of trying so certainly not a promise broken! Trump 2020!

KM, my view is slightly different. We need more barrier. Where an existing barrier can be hardened by simply welding support angles and then stringing concertina, is inexpensive, very fast, and good enough. That way more funding goes to new barrier where there is none. IMO, Pelosi’s Normandy barriers equal none because they do not stop foot traffic.

I agree – this is “good enough” but certainly not what we, or President Trump, want and it will not work as well as replacing it with the “fencing” like the prototypes. But it is still FAR better than anyone else would have gotten us!

the stupid vehicle barriers are some of the fencing that is being replaced – for good reason!

This has been shared by other commenters and I love it! Have you seen it yet? So encouraging and good to see

Here is a VERY relaxing way to go to sleep tonight – video of miles of new fence, taking the place of the old vehicle barriers what anyone could skip over with little effort.
Is the new fence as good as some of the barrier prototypes we saw? No. Would it be even better with rows and rows of razor wire? Yes. But it sure is better than what we had!

And the Best that President Trump can get out of the Congress – both the last Ryan lead RINOs and the current Dems.

Miles and miles…this video shows some of the old barriers that weren’t worth a darn

Mulvaney did something very nice here. He pointed out PDJT wanted a congressional resolution to the wall issue, but not at any cost (‘depends whats in the final bill’). PDJT has other legal options, some not requiring declaring a national emergency. As VP Pence said and as PDJT has said, the wall is getting done one way or the other.

What that whole line of thinking does is put max pressure on the Dems this week, after their attempt this weekend to hobble ICE. If it really is 50/50 on some PDJT acceptable deal, then if it doesn’t happen Pelosi owns the new shutdown and Trump proceeds on wall without declaring national emergency.

USA First!, and never forget we hired/elected each and every one of the 2 parties in 1 and both fighting against our President. So let’s drain the Congress swamp if we want to actually have a Congress of patriots for our country and not wanting all those donor dollars via lobbyists. We stop lobbyists and lifetime benefits, 2 assistants max as they are hired to do the work and not an assistant, 2 terms for the Senate MAX and 3 terms for the House MAX, and more working days repealing the non-Constitutional laws, and we move the Congress meeting to another area but never again in DC the cesspool of cesspools. Or as one new republican said: each candidate works in their home state, does business via real time LIVE videos, copies of which we will all have to keep the hired representative in either House not going beyond what their job is, etc., etc. None of the 3 departments are government but actually our employees. We have allowed them to con us that they are the government, but now to remind them they are employees via hiring/electing them. It appears that the upcoming shutdown is a great time to remove them. There are a few good in Congress and we can allow them to run as a candidate, but no more of the other 99.4% ever again in a Congress. We were ignorant before but are not now!

    • lemmus1 says:

The goal here is not to quench your anger – much less mine – nor is it merely to secure our border – a mobile infantry division could do that nicely, thank you, and in short order. The goal here is to take our country back – permanently. At least, that is my goal.

The American people speak with a forked tongue. The ‘popular majority’ voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Pelosi’s House minions in 2018. That is unfortunately recorded fact regardless of how hot or cold our anger runs or how much we cry fraud – as do our uniparty enemies.

Unless Trump succeeds in turning that ‘majority’ around next year – decisively – and permanently – we will likely not achieve our goal of taking our country back for good – short of turning the hounds of hell loose upon the entire earth – which I pray you’re not so angry as to wish upon your worst enemy – much less your grandchildren. Any illusion you may have that your ‘hot anger’ would achieve anything less than nuclear suicide for all is simply that – illusion and delusion. We do not live in a world that would stand aside while we settled our political differences with arms. And no, we can’t win against the world – not while divided. Though many an armchair patriot will claim otherwise, it is not so.

So stand down your hot anger – and watch DJT accomplish what your anger will not – a permanent shift in the political and economic direction of this country that will stand for generations. This is the year when the coup unfolds to a disbelieving public – when POTUS puts it aside in a way that will forever put the deep state, the uniparty, and the current MSM in their grave. And next year, POTUS AND the newly empowered conservative majority will sweep into power – with both an electoral victory AND a national popular victory in Congress.

Then we can all get to work making America great once more.

So, let’s do it to this Congress and let them fuss about it for years and by then many of the elder will have passed away (or been marched to the gallows for treason). Executive Order needs to be issued closing down the Border at 12:01AM!

  17. Carson Napier says:

We only have 21,000 Border Protection agents (capped by federal law) [and only a pittance compared to the 1,500,000 active duty military personnel who, just being frank about it, don’t do nearly as much as the Border Patrol to defend America] which is not anywhere near enough to actually secure our border, and we must have a physical barrier of wall/steel fencing, which must then be patrolled by enough boots on the ground to actually interdict and apprehend illegals when they do make it through the barriers.

The President must declare an emergency and use the military to finally, completely, secure our border with Mexico. He must deploy the troops, just like President Wilson did back in 1916 after Poncho Villa and his men raided across the border. The cartels and their allies are even worse than Poncho Villa since they don’t leave after murdering American citizens. Instead, they stay in the U.S. and work to take over, inside the U.S., just as they have taken over inside Mexico by means of terror and bribes (the infamous “offer” of “Plato y Plomo” – “silver or lead.”

President Trump stands at a cross-roads in this nation’s history, when the survival of this nation is hanging in the balance. A nation without borders is not a nation, but is instead in a death spiral. We need only look to Northern Mexico to see where that spiral ends.

It is time to put a stop to it. And that requires military action.

Make sure President Trump hears you!

    • “Go for $3B..” I believe they’ve ( Administration) found sources for $7 Billion. Add the $3B , let’s see….3+7=$10 Billion. Modern math.

      • lemmus1 says:

It’s not nearly enough to acquire, securely fence, technically control, and adequately patrol our entire land border. The 5.7 Billion was the ‘down payment’, not the total needed.

Try not to forget that the cartel is already running subs in the Caribbean and along the west coast, neither of which have the required sonar nets nor the Coast Guard assets required. Any of you living along Florida’s coasts see frequent local news reports of boatloads of illegals coming ashore – reports that rarely make the MSM.

The radar coverage of the Caribbean is full of holes with huge areas uncovered. Back in the early ’90s, the Air Force built a network of anti-drug radar sites throughout Central America and the Caribbean (two of which were in Venezuela) but it has been largely dismantled. Over the Horizon (OTH-B) coverage was supposed to be expanded to full coverage of the southern approaches but Congress largely moth-balled the program after the cold war ended. Iirc much of it operates on just a 40 hour a week schedule and the limited southern coverage is largely ineffective for the drug interdiction mission.

If you think the cartels will give up just because POTUS builds a fence, you are sadly misinformed. They have billions, maybe trillions at stake. The fence is a necessary beginning to finding the solution, not the solution itself.

Illegal Immigration Expected to Hit Highest Level Since George W. Bush
    8 Feb 2019

Illegal immigration this year is expected to hit the highest level in a decade, reaching numbers that the United States has not seen since President George W. Bush.
In December 2018, the last month for illegal border crossing totals, there were close to 51,000 border crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border, a level that outpaced Princeton Policy researcher Steven Kopits’ monthly projection by about 3.5 percent.

The month before, there were nearly 52,000 border crossings. Based on the latest available data, Kopits projects there to be about 606,000 crossings this year at the U.S.-Mexico border, a level of illegal immigration that surpasses nearly every year of illegal immigration under President Obama.

“The migrants are coming, through the official entry points or away from them, but they are coming, and coming in quantity,” Kopits wrote in his monthly projection report.

Currently, the U.S. admits more than a million legal immigrants annually, with the vast majority deriving from chain migration, whereby newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the country. In 2017, the foreign-born population reached a record high of 44.5 million.

The U.S. is on track to import about 15 million new foreign-born voters in the next two decades should current legal immigration levels continue. Those 15 million new foreign-born voters include about eight million who will arrive in the country through chain migration.
