Obviously AG Lynch has a vested interest in this case.  It would be embarrassing to the administration, to the AG, and to the larger professional grievance community, if a poorly constructed case -built with a racially embedded narrative- were to be exposed to sunlight.
Not only is the case based on activism and agenda, but the likelihood of the case falling apart has increased exponentially over the past 72 hours.

[…] Lynch, who has ordered a separate federal investigation into the 25-year-old man’s death, met with the Gray family shortly after noon and later with faith leaders and members of the local congressional delegation
Lynch’s visit is her first venture out of Washington since taking office last week. She was accompanied by Vanita Gupta, head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, which is leading the federal probe; and Ronald Davis, director of Justice’s Community Oriented Policing Services office.
The attorney general met privately with Gray’s family at the University of Baltimore where congressional leaders also huddled with Lynch.

“This is a flashpoint situation,” Lynch told the group, which included the Gray family attorney.  “We lost a young man’s life and it begins to represent so many things,” she said.
Lynch then pledged the Justice Department’s support to assist the Baltimore Police Department.  “We’re here to hold your hands and provide support,” Lynch said.  (link)

AG Lynch and Ronald Davis will focus their attention on Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn Mosby and her SEVERELY activist team.  Trying to avoid legal collapse of a narrative quickly unravelling.
Meanwhile Gupta and Grande Lum will remain primarily focused on Mayor Stephanie Rawlings and her political staff.  On their end they are trying to avoid the optics of an out of control community in crisis, willing to tear itself apart.

BALTIMORE – US Attorney General Loretta Lynch and other Justice Department officials will travel to Baltimore on Tuesday to meet city leaders, law enforcement officials, members of Congress and religious leaders, according to reports.
Lynch’s visit comes after protests over the death of Freddie Gray, who was fatally injured while in police custody, and riots that prompted the governor to mobilize the National Guard.
Her entourage will include Vanita Gupta, head of the Civil Rights Division; Ronald Davis, director of the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services; and Grande Lum, director of the Community Relations Service.
Lynch — who was sworn into her position about a week ago — has been monitoring the unrest in Baltimore that followed the death of Gray, 25, who suffered a severe spine injury.
The FBI and the Justice Department are investigating Gray’s death for potential civil rights violations. The department is expected to release results of a separate review of the police department’s use-of-force practices in coming weeks.
Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby has announced charges — ranging from murder to felony assault — against six cops involved in Gray’s death, which has been ruled a homicide.
President Obama also has said he may travel to Charm City but said he would wait until the situation cooled off, CNN reported. (read more)
