Marjorie Taylor Green and Thomas Massive together brought a motion to the House floor to remove Speaker Mike Johnson from office. However, a considerable number of Democrats joined Republicans in a 359-43 vote to table the motion and protect Johnson’s speakership.
Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) aligned with MTG and Massie. Eight Republicans including Andy Biggs, Chip Roy, Eric Burlison (R-Mo.), Eli Crane (R-Ariz.), Warren Davidson (R-Ohio), Alex Mooney (R-W.Va.), Barry Moore (R-Ala.) and Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.) all voted to remove Johnson and create an unknown outcome, perhaps even a Democrat speakership.

I do not see any way this effort to remove Mike Johnson would benefit candidate Donald Trump, the MAGA movement, or the semi-supportive/passive-aggressive Republican Party that genuine MAGA has to contend with.
It also seems strange that many Democrats did not relish supporting the stupid effort and making a mess out of Congress in an election year. Factually, the only beneficiaries of this chaos scenario, a scenario that could have resulted in legislation to block Trump from office, would be Democrats and perhaps Ron DeSantis or RFK Jr. {BACKGROUND}

I suspect you’re the one not paying attention. The SCOTUS just ruled it unconstitutional when several states tried to keep Trump off the ballot in the primaries. While Congress does have that power, it cannot exercise it willy-nilly, only as outlined in Section 3 of the 14th, and Trump doesn’t “fit the bill” for disqualification by the Congress. Any such act by Congress would without a doubt be challenged all the way to the SCOTUS who would rule it unconstitutional, same as the states’ attempts.
It’s not so much they would keep him off the ballot. It’s that when he wins, Jamie Raskin will declare him an insurrectionist and can’t be seated as President. The Republicans – who aside from the few who voted to vacate DO NOT WANT TRUMP – will go along with it.
Bannon and others’ theory of the case is that the house will BLOCK DJT from being sworn in as President. That the reason whey we haven’t seen any bite from these people. Jim Jordan’s report should have been out BEFORE the trial.

The SOTH traditionally is a sitting member of the House but does not have to be one. Fat chance of an outsider ever being elected as Speaker.
Its amazing how the speaker could have gotten any win for MAGA by leveraging money for Ukraine (border security, 1st amendment protections online, squashing the Trump lawfare) but instead rolled over like every other republican in my lifetime.
Perhaps they were thinking that We The People are sick of D.C. lies and broken promises.

The end game is of importance. We all know that there must be strategic thinkers who can play politics snd see the larger picture and advance our needs to the goal post, a game of increments at times. This effort by MTG is sophomoric. We are in the battle now to hold on to our seats.

I don’t know what is in the heart of MTG, but when she speaks on War Room and Bannon is in full throated support of what she is doing, it sounds amazingly reasonable to me. Bannon feels that Jeffries already is running the house, but it is not possible for him to formally become speaker.

I respect our host’s opinion always, but Johnson is our enemy. Trump can’t come out against him, for good practical reasons. We can and must, I believe. I think it helps Trump and our cause, albeit without his endorsement or support.
The question is, where/when do we fight our enemies? Do we always submit and help them? Am I expected to vote for Rogers for Senate from MI? He’s my sworn enemy. He’s a criminal. I want him in prison yesterday. But I must vote for him because he has a little ” R ” after his name?
There’s more to this than just near term expediency. We have to draw lines. Hard ones.
Let us stay away from the political drama and read between the lines. The Republicans and all of the characters aren’t any different than the Democrats. They are not stupid. Stick to what is going on. Be watchers, listeners, and mental fighters for now. I have been a Trump supporter since Trump came down that elevator. I am a dedicated supporter, and I will never waiver.
