GEORGETOWN – D.C. Police are working to identify about a dozen teens wanted for setting up a “flash mob”-style robbery at a high-end jeans store in Georgetown two weeks ago.

Surveillance videos from Feb. 20 shows the teens entering the True Religion Brand Jeans store on M Street just before 6:30 p.m.

The teens then stuffed more than a thousand dollars worth of the jeans into bags they’d brought with them before running out of the store, in just a couple minutes.

“I can’t believe all of those people could steal something all at one time,” said Maria Suyat, an employee at the neighboring Camper shoe store. “…We’ve had plenty of people steal a few shoes just from our window display, so I can only imagine having all that merchandise taken all at once.” (more…)

Two hundred and fifty freshman and sophomores from Rosary High School in Fullerton were on the stage as part of its annual Red and Gold fundraiser for school events, Lt. Tim Schmidt told the Daily News. The girls, dressed in yellow and assorted costumes, were jumping on the stage in jubilation when the entire front collapsed at 11 p.m. (link)

The first pieces of an aircraft that mysteriously vanished in southeast Asia  Saturday may have finally been found.  Pieces of the Malaysia Airlines flight’s inner door and a piece of the tail  was found about 50 miles south-southwest of Tho Chu island, Vietnam officials  said Sunday, according to the Wall Street Journal.
CHINA – Thirty-four aircraft, 40 ships, and officials from no fewer than 8 countries are involved in the search.
That an international jet liner can apparently vanish while cruising at 35,000 feet, with no sign of a distress signal or trouble, has rattled the nerves and captured the attention of many. That is, after all, the safest portion of a flight.
Officials leading the search so far have been unable to identify a field of debris — which is unusual for a plane that may have plunged into the sea. “The fact that we are unable to find any debris so far appears to indicate that the aircraft is likely to have disintegrated at around 35,000 feet,” a source involved in the search told Reuters.

My dad was a career military man and as such was TDY (temporary duty yonder) away from his family often.  When this happened my mother would receive part of his pay – an allotment – and we were always living with one grandparent or another while he was gone because the family got “kicked off-base” as soon as his tour began.  One year, the gubmint in all its efficiency and brilliant management (still demonstrated today) delayed my mom’s allotment for a few months and we found ourselves “without money”.  While this predicament was nothing new, apparently it was a tad worse than normal.
