Mr. Fabius will not describe as “Islamists” the terrorists who on Wednesday, Jan. 7, walked into the offices of the newspaper Charlie Hebdo, right in the heart of Paris. Nor will he use “Islamic State” to describe the radical Sunni group that now controls territory in Syria and Iraq. No reference can be made to “Islamic fundamentalism,” for fear that Islam and Islamism might get conflated. This must be about the sixth or seventh time in the past month we have noticed the same type of crime. A person -usually homeless- who is doused with gas or lighter fluid then set on fire. This happened three times in Saint Louis recently.
Ventura, CA – (FOX 11) – Police said three suspects lit a homeless man on fire Saturday night while he slept on Ventura Beach and suffered burns on 40 percent of his body.
Investigators said the three suspects allegedly poured lighter fluid on the man, identified as 58-year-old John Frazier, as well as his sleeping bag and other personal items.
A bystander noticed the flames around 11 p.m. near the 1100 block of South Seaward Avenue and put out the fire with sand before calling 911.
Frazier was taken to a nearby hospital with second and third degree burns on his upper torso and face, but is expected to survive. (more…)

This college frat house mentality extends toward other names like Tommy “dude” Vietor and throughout the State Dept with Patrick Kennedy, and Marie Harf etc. Almost everywhere you look you see childish immaturity playing out as a key component of the past six years of Obama policy advancement. WASHINGTON – On Saturday night the White House leaked the major tax hike details of the president’s upcoming budget. The common theme is higher taxes on savings and investment, totaling $320 billion over the next ten years.
“Democrats are demanding, yet again, tax increases on America. This never ends. When it comes to tax hikes Democrats are like a teenage boy on a prom date: they keep asking the same question different ways but always to the same point,” said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform.
Here are the major tax increases in the President’s upcoming budget:
1. Capital Gains Rate Hike: raises capital gains and dividends tax rate from 23.8% today (20% plus 3.8% Obamacare surtax) to 28% (including the Obamacare surtax).
The capital gains tax has not been that high since President Clinton signed a rate cut in 1997.
It would represent a massive hike in the rate since Obama took office. When he was sworn in, the rate was 15%. He proposes to nearly double it to 28% in the twilight of his administration. (more…)
NEW YORK – Anti-terror cops are still chauffeuring around New York City bureaucrats, even on the heels of terror attacks in France.
The offices of Public Advocate Letitia James and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito could not come up with a defense for the ongoing practice, first exposed by The Post two months ago, and passed the buck to the NYPD. Comptroller Scott Stringer’s office said he was doing what the NYPD recommended.
Each of the relatively unknown politicians has an eight-person security detail pulled from the elite NYPD Intelligence Division whose members usually spend their time looking for criminal activity and potential terrorists. The Post reported that the detail of drivers is made up of six detectives, one sergeant and one lieutenant — and two of them are on duty at a time. (more…)
(Fox News) Last Sunday, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin Dempsey, indicated that he expected a decision “fairly soon” on whether the Army will court martial Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for allegedly deserting his post in Afghanistan, or has cleared him, paving the way for separation from the service and back pay in excess of $200,000.
