One year ago, in March 2012, Obama told Russian President Medvedev:

“This is my last election, after my election I have more flexibility.”

Medvedev told Obama he understood and “will transmit this information to Vladimir.”

MOSCOW — The United States has effectively canceled the final phase of a Europe-based missile defense system that was fiercely opposed by Russia and cited repeatedly by the Kremlin as a major obstacle to cooperation on nuclear arms reductions and other issues.

Unions, like socialism in general, eventually collapse unto themselves.   Greed for unearned income creates a system where the frustrated and unappreciated host eventually stops earning.   Like a dependent drug addict, the parasite cannot stop demanding their unearned fix.  Eventually the money runs out….

CALIFORNIA – There’s nothing more embarrassing for union bosses than their own unionized staff striking against them or, in this case, threatening to strike.

In San Francisco, SEIU staff, represented by the left-wing Communications Workers of America, has been without a contract since their contract expired last September.

SEIU boss Roxanne Sanchez, according to the San Francisco Bay Guardian, is trying to get her union staff to give concessions on their pensions and health care.

Last week, after months without a contract, 94% of the SEIU’s own union staff voted to strike.

WASHINGTON DC – The barbershop of the U.S. Senate has run deficits of approximately $350,000 a year for each of the last 15 years. So Senate sergeant at arms Terry Gainer has decided to try out a new model, one that has looked rather unfashionable during the Obama era: privatization.

Gainer has tried to trim Senate Hair Care Services for the past few years. Now the political climate troubling everyone else on Capitol Hill is allowing him to move faster than he anticipated towards privatizing it completely. (more…)

It’s a long way from “purple states”…

New York City, Flatbush, finds itself in the epicenter of another young black male shooting incident turned opportunistic grievance statistic.  The storyline is a 16-year-old kid, Kimani “KiKi” Gray, was shot seven times and killed by police officers after he turned toward them wielding a loaded .38 caliber handgun.

A few days before, and a few more miles away in Chicago, a 6-MONTH-old girl, Jonylah Watkins, was shot six times (one for every month of her life) and killed by gangland style thugs as they attempted to murder her father.

In Chicago six bullets killed the baby girl.  In New York, seven bullets killed Ki Ki.

Chicago moves on, another day – another innocent.   500+ last year alone.

New York City erupts with protests, violence, broken bottles, looters, all supported by accusations of racism and random police violence against black males. (more…)

WASHINGTON — Following President Obama’s lunch meeting with Senate Republicans on Capitol Hill, Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins described the food served and the president’s reaction to what was on menu.

“University of Maine recipe for healthy lobster salad — I pointed that out to the president in keeping with the first lady’s initiatives and Fox Family Potato Chips made in Aroostook County where I’m from and wild blueberry pie full of anti-oxidants, see this was a healthy lunch as well. We did have a little ice cream on the pie too, also made in Maine, Gifford’s Ice Cream. So in all seriousness this was well received,” Collins told reporters on Thursday after the meeting at the Capitol.

“Unfortunately, you know, the president can’t,” said Collins when asked if Obama ate at the lunch meeting. (more…)

Keith Olbermann has settled his $50 million lawsuit with Current TV, bringing an end to the almost year-long legal dispute over the outspoken host’s dismissal from the liberal news network.

The terms of the settlement, which was reported earlier this week, were not released. But two sources familiar with the negotiations now tell POLITICO that during the mediation stage, Olbermann’s legal representatives cited his inability to get a job at another network — a move one source close to the negotiations interpreted as an effort to gain sympathy for Olbermann.

“One of the cards his people played was hardship,” the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told POLITICO. “He spent last fall talking to all the major networks, and he couldn’t get a job. The idea was, this could be the last money he ever earned.” (more…)

[via WeaselZippers] In one corner we have Ted Cruz, a brilliant Harvard educated Constitutional lawyer who has authored more than 80 Supreme Court briefs and presented more than 40 oral arguments, including nine before the Supreme Court itself, he also served as law clerk for Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist. In the other we have Dianne Feinstein, who has been in the Senate for decades and could fit her knowledge of the Constitution on the tip of a pin.

At this point it may be important to remember Senator Feinstein recently used a written prepared statement to claim it is “legal to hunt humans“. Listening to her response to Ted Cruz reminded me of another Democrat From California Senatorial retort: (more…)
