WASHINGTON (AFP) – Europe must do more to better integrate its Muslim communities, and not “simply respond with a hammer”, US President Barack Obama said Friday in the wake of last week’s terror attacks in France.

“Our biggest advantage, major, is that our Muslim populations – they feel themselves to be Americans,” Obama told a joint press conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron.

“There are parts of Europe in which that’s not the case. And that’s probably the greatest danger that Europe faces… it’s important for Europe not to simply respond with a hammer and law enforcement and military approaches to these problems.”

FTP and BLM protestors wearing adult diapers chained themselves to large concrete filled oil drums near Boston blocking traffic and also blocking emergency responders.

BOSTON — Activists protesting what they call “police and state violence against black people” chained themselves to concrete-filled barrels and blocked a busy Boston-area highway at the height of the Thursday morning commute.

State police shut down northbound Interstate 93 south of the city, and I-93 south, in Medford, north of the city, at about 7:30 a.m., inconveniencing thousands of drivers and causing miles-long backups. The southbound lanes were reopened at about 8 a.m. and the northbound lanes at about 10 a.m. after police and firefighters used power saws to cut protesters out of the barrels to which they were attached while lying in the roadway. The STL County Police are going to release more pictures of the looters every Tuesday. Finally, and interestingly, amid explaining this approach from Saint Louis law enforcement comes the following:

“He said the coming images will include some from Aug. 10, the day after white Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson shot and killed a black teen, Michael Brown, in a controversial confrontation”…

Because many of us have wondered how difficult it would be to catch this guy:

CLAYTON • Calls from the public identified five looting suspects and provided 15 leads after St. Louis County police released surveillance photos last week from violent protests in the Ferguson area Nov. 24.
So the department released a new batch of pictures Tuesday and plans to publicize more on successive Tuesdays. They may be from protest-related crimes on various dates. (more…)

Credit where credit is due. The messaging from the White House about why they haven’t called the terrorist attacks “Islamic Terrorism” must have been a top priority in the past 48 hours. As noted in this shift expressed by Josh Earnest. The question was posed:

“The leader of France, your ally in this effort, has put a name on this ideology, which he calls radical Islam,” noted NPR’s Mara Liasson. “You have bent over backwards to not ever say that. There must be a reason.”

Josh Earnest Responds: “The first is accuracy. We want to describe exactly what happened. These are individuals who carried out an act of terrorism and they later tried to justify that act of terrorism by invoking the religion of Islam and their own deviant view of it. (more…)
