Sybrina Fulton, the mother of Trayvon Martin, and a legion of like-minded grievance specialists, is/are trying to get Stand Your Ground (self-defense) laws removed from twenty six states who currently have such laws on the books.
This is not a new proposition for the ideological fellowship. They have been working on this for a few years now. Actually, the backstory of SYG opposition prior to the Trayvon Martin shooting helps to understand why they chose to use the Martin incident as their springboard.
The Coalition To Stop Gun Violence, which is actually a stealth gun removal team, released a PSA to support their endeavors. To say the PSA is a false construct is a massive understatement:
(Via Mediaite) On Meet the Press Sunday morning, Trayvon Martin’s mother Sabrina Fulton denounced New York City’s Stop and Frisk law, arguing that it was part and parcel with the racial profiling George Zimmerman used when he approached Martin before the fatal shooting.
Interesting article about the Scheme Team by William Reed in The Washington Informer. Two aspects of note within the article:

[…] The Parks & Crump camp helped to create a “Justice for Trayvon” industry consisting of protest paraphernalia that includes hoodies, sweatshirts and bumper stickers. The law firm proved to be instrumental in establishing the Trayvon Martin Foundation, with donations totaling an estimated $5 million dollars. (more…)
First the FAIL – TALLAHASSEE, Fla. —Florida’s Republican-controlled Legislature is coming out solidly against a special session to repeal the state’s “stand your ground” law.
The Department of State on Wednesday released a list that showed more than half of the state’s 160-member Legislature has already voted against the idea.
The vote was triggered earlier after 33 legislators asked for a special session in writing. They were urged to do so by the Dream Defenders group, which is upset with the July verdict in the George Zimmerman case.
Under an obscure state law, the written requests required an official poll. A yes vote by three-fifths of the Legislature would have resulted in a special session. (more)
Then the RESULT….. (more…)
Interesting and VERY comprehensive construction of the George Zimmerman story by a South African Journalist – James Myburgh. A “mere snippet” reflects:
[…] In the chapter on “national delusions” in his 1852 work Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds, Charles MacKay noted how “In reading the history of nations, we find that, like individuals, they have their whims and their peculiarities; their seasons of excitement and recklessness, when they care not what they do. We find that whole communities suddenly fix their minds upon one object, and go mad in its pursuit; that millions of people become simultaneously impressed with one delusion, and run after it, till their attention is caught by some new folly more captivating than the first. “
The Trayvon Martin story is a case study in how, even in the modern day, an advanced industrialised democracy can completely lose its senses; and how difficult it is for it to then recover them. In this particular matter a whole society seemingly fixed its mind on the one object of having George Zimmerman arrested, convicted and sent to jail for life, in reckless disregard of the evidence and the law. The mainstream media, so-called civil rights organisations, the Democrat President of the US, the US Attorney General, the Republican Governor of Florida and his Attorney General, and State Attorney Angela Corey all combined forces in an effort to destroy a single, isolated individual. TALLAHASSEE — Trayvon Martin’s father has been named honorary captain of the FAMU football team after delivering an inspirational speech to the team Sunday. Florida A&M coach Earl Holmes said Tracy Martin, whose son’s shooting death in Sanford drew national attention, called him recently and the coach recently invited the grieving father to address his players.

“[We] talked and I told him I’d love him to talk to the team. He came out and he was very, very encouraging,” Holmes said of Tracy Martin. “ . . . [He] got a standing ovation from our guys. He talked about just persevering and told the guys to keep on pushing through the hard times. The message he shared with the kids was very positive and they were very responsive.” (more…)
Let’s talk about what’s really going on behind this politically driven move by Eric Holder.
Hip Hop Mogul Russell Simmons was in a recent spat with CNN’s Don Lemon where Simmons said:
# 1 enemy of black America has been the war on drugs #newjimcrow
— Russell Simmons (@UncleRUSH) July 30, 2013
He is not saying that drugs are toxic to the fabric of the black community. He is not saying that a culture built around a drug lifestyle is damaging to the black community. No, he is saying the #1 problem for blacks in America is drug use being unlawful, and by consequence the criminal arrest for such use is the “enemy of blacks”. The enemy of blacks is the application of law.
Just let that settle in for a moment.
The #1 enemy of blacks in America is the enforcement of law.
So the future of/for blacks, as advocated by blacks, advances the proposition that such a future can or will improve, only if the enforcement of law is removed.

In his own essential words. The black community will be without enemy if,….. the black culture will succeed if,…… and the black community will advance if,….. they are allowed to use drugs without lawful consequence. (more…)
