Sybrina Fulton, the mother of Trayvon Martin, and a legion of like-minded grievance specialists, is/are trying to get Stand Your Ground (self-defense) laws removed from twenty six states who currently have such laws on the books.
This is not a new proposition for the ideological fellowship.   They have been working on this for a few years now.   Actually, the backstory of SYG opposition prior to the Trayvon Martin shooting helps to understand why they chose to use the Martin incident as their springboard.
The Coalition To Stop Gun Violence, which is actually a stealth gun removal team, released a PSA to support their endeavors.   To say the PSA is a false construct is a massive understatement:

There are actually multiple grievance issues in current alignment. The Trial Lawyers Association do not like ‘Stand Your Ground’ because it provides for financial immunity in your defense; thereby eliminating the possibility of wrongful death lawsuits.
However, the Black Racial Grievance Industry, the social engineers, have perhaps the most absurd of all alignment positions.

WASHINGTON DC – Newly uncovered Democratic anti-NRA talking points urge anti-gun advocates and politicians to hype high-profile gun incidents like the Florida slaying of Trayvon Martin to win support for new gun control laws.

In talking points likely followed by top Democratic leaders including President Obama after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in December, the anti-gun “guide” urged gun foes to speak out when a shooting “creates a unique climate” to shout down the National Rifle Association. (more…)

Wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with “Women Hunt” and quoting Shakespeare’s Henry V, Sarah Palin addressed the NRA-ILA forum in Houston, TX this week, opening her remarks with the bold statement:  “This is a Fight for the Future of Freedom”

As to be expected, Sarah Palin lives up to the expectation that she would throw out the red meat for the 2nd Amendment supporters.

She calls out the Corporate Media as the “poodle skirted cheerleader” for a “President who writes the book on exploiting tragedy”.

“Leaders who practice the politics of emotion”.

She moves on to address what she calls the “codependency of freedom and morality…”

“What can we do to nurture and support a people capable of living in freedom…”

Cue Prog splodey heads everywhere….

This one is in the top three intentional media lies so far this year.  It’s also brutally obvious  (National Review caught it):

MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts used a portion of Joe Biden’s speech at the dedication of a plaque recognizing the Americans lost in the Benghazi attack in order to make the case for gun control. Biden spoke about the risks State Department employees encounter overseas and the sacrifices families make: “No child should predecease their parents and noone should have to suffer the loss of their spouse, it’s not easy,” he said.

Replaying those remarks, Thomas Roberts claimed Biden was mourning “children as the victims of gun violence” noted that the vice president is set to make a new push for gun control. (link)

This is a great example of how intensely the Modern Democrat party considers any ideological opposition, even amid their own constituency. From top to bottom Progressive Fabian Socialism is the entire construct of the liberal left – Democrats.

You won’t hear the legacy media tell this story, for they are part of the same alignment;  And spotlighting the rabid extent of the ideological pressure just isn’t part of the program. The media reserves that approach for discussing how the right-wing, extremist ‘Tea Partiers’ are pressuring Republicans to move away from *cough* moderation.

No, for the Modern Democrats the deconstruction of the U.S. Constitution, reflecting individual freedom, is the key principle upon which they manuever to overwhelm the system, tear down the fabric of a constitutional society, and reconstruct it in a more progressive manner. It is the same reason, albeit a divergent angle, that reflects the intents behind hiring people to sell government dependency – and force food stamp use.

(NATIONAL JOURNAL) – Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the well-funded group co-founded by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, is seriously considering a months-long television, radio and direct-mail campaign against Arkansas Sen. Mark Pryor, one of four Democrats who opposed expanding a background check for guns.

The goal: Make an example of him.

Senior members of Mayor’s Against Illegal Guns met at length Sunday to debate potential responses to the failure of President Obama’s gun regulation package, including a watered-down background check provision that fell five votes short. (more…)

Ideological Progs never retreat, they just evaluate the opposition and change their approach.

President Obama just delivered one of the most toxic and partisan press briefings in the Rose Garden against the backdrop of the defeated Gun Control Amendment.   Within his words the next steps are brutally obvious.

“The current leader of the nra used to support these background checks. So while this compromise didn’t contain everything I wanted or everything that these families wanted, it did represent progress. It represented moderation and common sense,” Obama said. “That’s why 90 percent of the American people supported it. But instead of supporting this compromise, the gun lobby and its allies willfully lied about the bill.”

Obama calls the 60 vote threshold (2/3 majority needed – constitutional provision now 3/5ths) a “procedural rule exploited by the minority party“.

UPDATE:  Amendment fails 54-46  VOTE JUST TAKEN

The expanded background check / National gun registry amendment is currently being debated and voted on the floor of the Senate.   Initial predictive reports yesterday were for successful passage.   That is not the case – The amendment is expected to fail, thanks in Part to Kelly Ayote (Republican from New Hampshire).

Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) said Wednesday that she will oppose a Senate deal proposing to expand background checks on the purchases of firearms known as the Manchin-Toomey admendment.

“I believe that restricting the rights of law-abiding gun owners will not prevent a deranged individual or criminal from obtaining and misusing firearms to commit violence,” she said in a statement. “While steps must be taken to improve the existing background check system, I will not support the Manchin-Toomey legislation, which I believe would place unnecessary burdens on law-abiding gun owners and allow for potential overreach by the federal government into private gun sales.”

Ayotte’s opposition leaves the amendment short of the required 60 votes for passage, unless a senator reverses their position prior to the vote on the floor at 4pm ET today

[Hat Tip WeaselZippers]    WASHINGTON DC – Mark Kelly, the husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), is threatening to back an election challenge against Sen. Jeff Flake if the Arizona Republican votes against legislation to expand background checks.

At a Christian Science Monitor breakfast on Tuesday, Kelly said he would back an opponent to Flake if the “right candidate” was available and if the senator failed to support a background check bill, according to reports.

Flake, who is not up for reelection until 2018, has been close to Kelly and Giffords. But Kelly said the issue of control trumped their ties. (more…)

WASHINGTON – The Senate will vote Wednesday afternoon on what could be the biggest change in U.S. gun laws in nearly two years.

Senators will take up the bipartisan proposal from Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) to expand background checks on firearm purchases and close the so-called gun show loophole at 4 p.m.

It will require 60 votes to pass, and the White House and Democrats still lack the final votes they need. (more…)
