The Iowa Secretary of State, Paul Pate, has now called out the Ted Cruz campaign for falsely representing Iowa election law, in their campaign “shaming letter“.

DES MOINES – “Today I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law. Accusing citizens of Iowa of a “voting violation” based on Iowa Caucus participation, or lack thereof, is false representation of an official act. There is no such thing as an election violation related to frequency of voting. Any insinuation or statement to the contrary is wrong and I believe it is not in keeping in the spirit of the Iowa Caucuses”. (more…)

It has now been confirmed – The photograph of Ted Cruz campaign shaming letters is legit (see below).  The letters are officially from the Ted Cruz campaign.

Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler confirmed to IJ Review that the mailer was theirs in a phone call Friday evening, saying that the targeting had been “very narrow, but the caucuses are important and we want people who haven’t voted before to vote.”  (link)

The personalized letters target individual Iowa voters and identifies them as having failed to vote in prior elections.  They are admonished and then encouraged to vote this year.  In addition the letters identify the neighbors of the voter, and provides their voting history.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration confirmed for the first time Friday that Hillary Clinton’s unsecured home server contained some of the U.S. government’s most closely guarded secrets, censoring 22 emails with material demanding one of the highest levels of classification. The revelation comes just three days before the Iowa presidential nominating caucuses in which Clinton is a candidate.

The State Department will release its next batch of emails from Clinton’s time as secretary of state later Friday.
