Is it a war, an action, an intervention? Whatever you want to call it bombs are being dropped, missles fired, aircraft assualts, artillery and tanks deployed, ships and submarines firing tactical warheads….. sounds like a damn war to me. But I digress, here’s a roundup. Reports are Colonel Gaddafi suffered a massive personal setback today when one of his sons was allegedly killed in a suicide air mission on his barracks. Khamis, 27, who runs the feared Khamis Brigade that has been prominent in its role of attacking rebel-held areas, is said to have died on Saturday night. The rebels are reporting a Libyan air force pilot crashed his jet into the Bab al-Aziziya compound in Tripoli in a kamikaze attack, Algerian TV is reporting the claim by an anti-Gaddafi media organization. The Libyan uprising is entering its fourth week. The courage and persistence of the Libyan people’s efforts to overthrow Gaddafi have been met with ongoing regime brutality ranging from shoot-to-kill policies to the indiscriminate use of artillery against unarmed civilians. In addition to the current no-fly zone, the UN Security Council unanimously issued a resolution imposing tough measures against the Libyan regime including an arms embargo, asset freeze, travel ban and a referral of the situation in Libya to the International Criminal Court for investigation.
The desire to act in solidarity with the Libyan people demands that we assess the available options against the core principle that any intervention must satisfy: Do no harm (that is, do not do more harm on balance by intervening). (more…)
…”there is no decision I face as your Commander in Chief that I consider as carefully as the decision to ask our men and women to use military force [..] we will not be acting alone. Our goal is focused, our cause is just, and our coalition is strong” -President Obama 3/18.
Then within 24 hours the Arab League backs out…. (AP) — President Barack Obama is playing tourist in Brazil, on the second day of a Latin American tour meant to bolster economic and cultural ties. The president and his family took in sights of Rio de Janeiro’s vivid extremes today, traveling from brilliant beaches to a notorious slum. (more…)
Gee, Surprise, Surprise…… The claims of Arab League support for the Libyan attacks was obviously manipulative optics….. Arabs will NEVER give the WEST approval to attack another Arab state. P.E.R.I.O.D. (Reuters) — The Arab League chief said on Sunday that Arabs did not want military strikes by Western powers that hit civilians when the League called for a no-fly zone over Libya. US Launches Tomahawk Cruise Missiles Against Gaddafi’s Air Defenses – (BNO News) — The U.S. Navy on Saturday evening fired several Tomahawk cruise missiles at Libyan air defenses, U.S. media reported, and President Barack Obama is expected to make a statement soon. NBC News, Fox News and CNN reported that the U.S. Navy had joined French forces in carrying out attacks on Libya, where Muammar Gaddafi has violently cracked down on anti-
government protesters. Few details about the U.S. attacks were immediately available, although there were reports of several loud explosions being heard east of Tripoli. Balls of fire could be seen on the horizon, media reports said. (more…)
Immediately following a summit of coalition forces the French Air Force began combat operations in and around the rebel stronghold of Benghazi in Eastern Libya. Aljazerra and Western Media outlets begin to describe the conflict. Both East and West media views presented below:
Eastern Reports (Aljazerra) French warplanes have hit four tanks used by forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi on the outskirts of the opposition stronghold of Benghazi, on a day when opposition fighters in the city reported coming under constant artillery and mortar fire. The action marks the first international military move against the Libyan leader, and it comes a day after the UN Security Council authorised a no-fly zone over the North African country. (more…)
I cannot believe what I am hearing and seeing. The President of the United States is blatantly lying right now, on TV, in front of my eyes. This White House Administration team is incrediously innept, manipulative, and at times, flat out liars. I just watched him on TV lie by saying:
“We responded immediately and quickly to the crisis in Libya, and now our partners in Europe and around the world have joined us”. -Barack Obama 3/18
Well allow me to lay out the facts. (more…)
Egypt and Libya are intrinsically connected by more than just a common border. Despite the ‘move along,…. move along,…. nothing to see here….’ attitude from the western lame stream media, there is serious trouble afoot. Serious trouble. The lefties who framed the original narrative would have you believe that a burgeoning democracy is being established; However, as previously outlined this is nothing but a complete smoke screen. Actually it’s worse than a smoke screen, it’s flat out false. (more…)
