Then within 24 hours the Arab League backs out…. (AP) — President Barack Obama is playing tourist in Brazil, on the second day of a Latin American tour meant to bolster economic and cultural ties.  The president and his family took in sights of Rio de Janeiro’s vivid extremes today, traveling from brilliant beaches to a notorious slum.  They visited the City of God shantytown that gained fame after a movie by the same name won Oscar nominations. At a community center in the heart of the jostling slum of 40,000, Obama watched a martial arts display and ” target=”_blank”>played soccer with some children.

The president shed his coat and tie, rolled up his sleeves and dribbled one-on-one with one surprised boy. First lady Michelle Obama and their daughters Sasha and Malia got involved, too, kicking a ball around with the kids.  Then the president walked out into the streets and waved to throngs of residents who cheered him from rooftops and balconies.  Obama is also keeping in touch with his national security team as U.S. ships and airplanes take part in the international military intervention in Libya.
