One of the Atlanta Public School officials who was convicted in the largest national school cheating scandal in U.S. history – appeared before a Judge today: 

(Via AJS) Convicted APS educator Donald Bullock, a former test coordinator with the school system, asked the judge to show leniency and not sentence him to jail time.

Bullock – who was the second convicted APS educator to address Judge Jerry Baxter at Monday’s sentencing hearing — asked if he could instead provide community service and be placed on probation.

“I’m appealing to the compassionate side of you,” Bullock said. “I know you’re a man of compassion.”  “I ask you to grant leniency to me… My livelihood is gone.” (link)

ATLANTA – […]  Those who opted for trial are a small fraction of the original 178 educators and administrators named in the governor’s investigative report of teachers changing answers on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Test.

Thirty-five were eventually indicted. Eighty-three were named unindicted co-conspirators. Sixty of those were given immunity. Ten of them testified.

Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard accepted pleas to lesser charges from 21 of the 35 indicted. Eleven of them finished their misdemeanor probation sentences, which included community service while their former colleagues were on trial. The rest either have time remaining on their probation or have not completed all their required community service. (read more)

Update: No-one fired, no disciplinary action, barely an apology – Essentially no consequences. Rolling Stone says; Oopsie, our bad.

EARLIER: According to CNN’s Brian Stelter Rolling Stone will be releasing the results of a Columbia Grad School journalism audit tonight. In addition the lying Rolling Stone author of the UVA hit piece, Sabrina Rubin Erdely, is also anticipated to apologize for her false story.

[…] So as questions have swirled over how the botched story made it to print, there has been virtually no explanation from the author of the piece.

But that is expected to change Sunday night, when Columbia University’s graduate school of journalism releases findings from its independent review of Rolling Stone’s debacle.

As the story is told An 11-year-old Florida girl was suspended from school after she recorded her fifth-grade teacher threatening and bullying other students. The evidence Brianna Cooper recorded was enough to get the teacher fired from Samuel Gaines Academy in Fort Pierce, about two hours north of Miami. But administrators say it was also enough to earn the student a five-day suspension.

After all, they [the principal] claimed, the teacher, had an expectation of privacy in the classroom.  (link)

Which leads to the question, since when is a public school teacher, giving public instruction, to an entire classroom of students, having “an expectation of privacy”? Or is there something else to the story….

Neither the media, nor the school, will identify the teacher. However, the teacher was fired. Rut roh. Oh, how this is starting to sound awfully PC. (more…)

Not exactly sure why this was announced and presented today other than to put to rest the insufferable lies within the U-VA rape case which drew massive attention after the Rolling Stone article which choose not to fact check the story prior to selling it.

Charlottesville Police Chief Longo is arguably one of the most precariously proficient PC edge-walkers within law enforcement. He’s been the face of several high profile Charlottesville investigations including the Hannah Graham murder. Most recently Longo has been walking the PC tightrope in the U-VA student Martese Johnson nonsense.

However, today he had the dubious task of telling the world the U-VA rape case was a total hoax, a fraud, an intentionally constructed series of lies by a pathologically unstable female nutter.

Of course Longo couldn’t exactly say it that way (though at times it appeared to leak out) after all, we are talking about Northern Virginia – and the grand proximity to the liberal epicenter that is Washington DC and Marylandistan.

Somehow Longo -once again- successfully found a way to tap dance through the minefield of delicate liberal sensibilities and avoid the media pitfalls of calling a liberal liar a, well, liar. The non-victim -victim- was perhaps just misspeaking, probably – or something. (more…)

It has been said by those on the left that ridicule is a potent political weapon.

If that be a true intention or motive -and if that were the desire of the opposite political forces- the behavior of the U-VA students today could only be called ‘teeing themselves up’ for it.

Even the Washington Post, not exactly a right-minded media outlet, has trouble not injecting a pointed amount of ridicule (via humor) into their outline of today’s events.

The WaPo outlines a U-VA session today where students were invited to question local and state law enforcement about the arrest of Martese Johnson.

Don’t laugh too loud when you look at the poster of the students walking into the meeting and realize they must be psychic or something:

Boy they sure appear open-minded.
