TV reports confirm Korea admits to seven kiloton (7,000 metric ton tnt equivalent) nuclear test.   President Obama to issue sternly worded letter in 3…. 2…. no, wait.. what?

(CNN) – North Korea appeared to have conducted its third underground nuclear bomb test Tuesday, as the U.S. Geological Survey reported a seismic disturbance centered near the site of the secretive regime’s two previous nuclear tests.

The area around the reported epicenter of the magnitude 4.9 disturbance has little or no history of earthquakes or natural seismic hazards, according to U.S. Geological Survey maps. The disturbance took place at a depth of about 1 kilometer, the USGS said. (more…)

Much has been made about the death of a 15-year-old honor student, Hadiya Pendleton.

She died after being shot in a park near the Chicago home of President Barack Obama on Jan. 29, just days after she performed during his inauguration festivities in Washington. Her death was among dozens of homicides in Chicago last month, but her background and ties to Obama thrust her death into the national headlines and helped put Chicago at the center of a national debate over gun control.  (story)

Last month 23-year old twin sisters and two other unrelated women were found shot to death in an apartment complex in Tulsa Oklahoma. Rebeika Powell (left) and Kayetie Melchor were among four women found dead inside an Oklahoma apartment on Jan. 7, 2013 after an apparent daylight shooting in a crime-scarred south Tulsa neighborhood. The 23-year-old twins were discovered along with the bodies of 33-year-old Misty Nunley and 55-year-old Julie Jackson.

Also they just issued a $1,000,000 reward.   CALIFORNIA – Police plan to use spy drones in the hunt for a Rambo-style ex-soldier and policeman who has murdered three people and vowed to kill again.

They believe burly, heavily-armed Christopher Dorner is holed-up in the wilderness of California’s snow-capped San Bernardino mountains 80 miles east of Los Angeles.

The burnt-out shell of his pick-up truck was discovered in the nearby resort of Big Bear, where residents and tourists have been warned to stay indoors as the search continues.

Yesterday, as a task force of 125 officers, some riding Snowcats in the rugged terrain, continued their search, it was revealed that Dorner has become the first human target for remotely-controlled airborne drones on US soil. (more…)

I keep reading reports “claiming” the police statement around 20 shots fired.  There were way more than 20 shots fired.   In this picture you can see evidence marker #54 which indicates a shell casing location.   These were two *really* luck women.

LOS ANGLES — A mother and daughter newspaper delivery team who were mistakenly shot by Los Angeles police hunting for a fugitive former cop will get a new pickup truck courtesy of the department.

LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith says the department’s Chief Charlie Beck met with the women in their Torrance home Saturday to apologize and tell them he had arranged for someone to donate a new pickup truck. (more…)

DETROIT – Two teenagers were shot when they tried to rob men working on a public lighting pole on Detroit’s west side Thursday night, according to Detroit police.

The men, both 59, were in an alley between Cloverlawn and Northlawn, north of Schoolcraft, about 9 p.m. when the teens, who are 16-and 17-year-old brothers, pulled out a weapon and said they were robbing the men.

One of the men, who has a license to carry a concealed pistol, shot both teens, police said. (more…)

Dear Christopher Dorner,

I understand your feelings of hurt and pain. I make this plea to you to stop spreading the pain, the hurt, and the fear. Please stop. Don’t take any more lives.

Christopher, your mother is distraught and deeply concerned for your safety. There are many good and credible people in Los Angeles who will help you. Danny J. If you shoot someone in Dear Leader’s hometown, Chicago, you have better than 10 to 1 odds you’ll get away with it.    Only 8% of non-lethal shooters were “charged” in 2011. Only 6% in 2012.   And a much smaller percentage ever reach a conviction.

CHICAGO – It’s getting easier to get away with shooting people in Chicago.

Last year, gunmen who shot and wounded someone got away without criminal  charges 94 percent of the time, according to a DNAinfo.com Chicago analysis of  police data.

That’s even worse than 2011, when 91.5 percent of shooters escaped charges,  according to the data.  Chicago’s top cop said the “no-snitch” code of silence on the street is the  biggest contributor in his department’s struggle to charge shooters. (more…)
