Despite the obvious don’t expect a tweet from Hillary Clinton admitting “the science is settled, the Earth is round, the sky is blue, and illegals are responsible for introducing expansive Measles infection”… Actually, expect the opposite – Carson is about to be savaged by the MSM for daring to point out the obvious.

While U.S. citizens who don’t get vaccinated are also a factor in this year’s rising number of measles cases, he said it’s “a combination of non-compliance [with vaccine requirements] and introduction into our society of people who perhaps haven’t been well screened.”

BREAKING NEWS [00:10 EST 2/4/15]  TransAsia Flight 235 crashed in the Keelung River with 58 people on board after taking off from Taipei’s Songshan Airport at 10:54 a.m. on Wednesday. The flight, which was en route to the island region of Kinmen, lost contact with flight controllers at 10:55 a.m., according to Channel News Asia. The flight was expected to land just before midday.

The dramatic moment the craft descended from the sky and smashed into a bridge was captured on a dashcam video. So far, there are two reported fatalities and numerous passenger injuries, according to local media reports. (more…)

Via WeaselZippers – The name on the Twitter account threatening the Dallas plane is “Junaid Hussain”. That is the name of the man who claimed to be behind the cyber attack on the Centcom twitter feed. Hussain claims to be in charge of the Cyber Caliphate for ISIS.

It is not clear yet if this account is truly related to him or ISIS, but it is clear whoever it is wants people to think it is.

ASSOCIATED PRESS: Two planes have been evacuated on arrival at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport due to what a spokesman called a “security concern.”
Airport spokesman Perry Cooper says a JetBlue flight from Long Beach, California, and a regional SkyWest jet from Phoenix were the planes involved. The flights arrived late Sunday afternoon.

Cooper said that out of an abundance of caution, passengers were bused to their gates from the airport’s third runway. He said the matter was under investigation and he did not have further details. (more…)

• Officials are stating they are 95% certain the debris field has been located for the Missing AirAsia airliner.  • The debris is approximately 10 kilometers from the last known coordinates of the flight. • Some bodies also identified in the water.

(Via CNN) Indonesian authorities are investigating a patch of debris that could be from missing AirAsia Flight QZ8501, a government official said Tuesday.

The debris spotted by a search team is located off the coast of Indonesia’s Central Kalimantan province on Borneo island, Djoko Murjatmodjo, an aviation official at the Transport Ministry, told reporters.

The objects are about 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the missing plane’s last known location, according to a CNN analysis of the coordinates. (more…)

(VIA NBC) The AirAsia passenger jet that disappeared with 162 people on board during a flight from Indonesia to Singapore Sunday is assumed to have crashed into the sea, the head of the rescue effort told reporters Monday.
“Based on the coordinates that we know, the evaluation would be that any estimated crash position is in the sea, and that the hypothesis is the plane is at the bottom of the sea,” National Search and Rescue chief Henry Bambang Soelistyo told a news conference, according to The Associated Press.
Navy ships, helicopters and aircraft fanned out to scour parts of the Java Sea Monday for any sign of AirAsia Indonesia Flight QZ8501, which lost contact with air traffic controllers in Indonesia Sunday morning after the pilot requested a course change due to bad weather, officials have said. Sheesh.  A woman brought a 70 lb “emotional support animal”, a pig, on board an American Airlines flight.

[…] Jonathan Skolnik, a professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a passenger on the flight, told ABC News today he thought the woman with the pig was carrying a duffel bag when she got on the plane and headed straight for the empty seat next to him.

“But it turns out it wasn’t a duffel bag. We could smell it and it was a pig on a leash,” he said. “She tethered it to the arm rest next to me and started to deal with her stuff, but the pig was walking back and forth.”

At 100 or more new reported cases a day
(and, obviously, an unquantified number of unreported cases) coupled with the deliberate “removal” of dead victims from the official tally, it is apparent that the Ebola outbreak continues to rage and is far from contained.
As has been mentioned here and elsewhere in the Realism Blogosphere,  Math Just Is.  As the Daily Mail UK reports, scores of orphaned children left to care for themselves after close contact and sustained exposure to a parent or other caregiver who has died from Ebola are  “ticking timebombs”.
