As first reported by the Army Times, a US Army Pfc (Private, First Class) posted an Instagram “selfie” (“sheffeynation”) of herself hiding in her car during the sounding of “Retreat” to avoid standing at attention, saluting and rendering honors to the American flag as the colors are lowered for the day.
To quote Ms. Tariqka Sheffey:
“This is me laying back in my car hiding so I don’t have to salute the 1700 flag, KEEP ALL YOUR ‘THATS SO DISRESPECTFUL/HOWRUDE/ETC.’ COMMENTS TO YOURSELF cuz, right now, IDGAFFFF.”
PFC Sheffey enjoys collecting her twice monthly pay checks but doesn’t feel she should be forced to “honor” the American flag/
The Times of London reports that news celebrity Piers Morgan is throwing in the towel and has announced plans to quit his CNN show, stating that his vigorous anti-gun stance alienated “a vast swath of his audience… we have taken a bath in the ratings…..”

Suffolk County Police responded to an emergency call at the Walt Whitman Mall in Huntington Station, New York. 1 person is declared deceased, and 29 additional persons have been overcome with what is believed to be carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.
First responders on the scene were among those sickened and sent to hospital.

Kevin Quick was en route to visit the mother of his 4 month old infant daughter in an apartment complex near Barracks Road in Charlottesville, Va when he disappeared. Police have been able to trace the movements of his vehicle, a silver Toyota 4Runner, in a bizarre pattern through central Virginia, up to Manassas in northern Virginia, and then back down again to Louisa County in central Virginia, where it was used as a getaway vehicle in a robbery attempt.

“Reporters Without Borders”, a watchdog organization headquartered in Paris, France and known by its French acronym, “RSF”, has published its annual “World Press Freedom Index”.
Liberty Blitzkrieg brings to our attention that in the great march FORWARD!, the US was a front runner in the stakes for greatest loss of press freedom in year over year results – slipping an impressive 13 slots from #33 last year to #46 on the 2014 world ranking, after Romania but before Haiti.
There were some “non-surprises”, such as North Korea and Eritrea remaining at the back of the pack, but also some pleasant surprises with tiny Belize clocking in at an impressive #29, hanging out in the “free press” band with Australia at #28.
Clearly, much work remains to be done before the US can be satisfied that the people’s work is completed and it can comfortably hang in the 100’s with its pals in the middle east and Africa. Maybe that will provide the necessary incentive to Dirty Harry in the Senate to get working on that innertubes kill switch. The 2014 World Press Freedom Index spotlights the negative impact of conflicts on freedom of information and its protagonists. The ranking of some countries has also been affected by a tendency to interpret national security needs in an overly broad and abusive manner to the detriment of the right to inform and be informed. This trend constitutes a growing threat worldwide and is even endangering freedom of information in countries regarded as democracies. Finland tops the index for the fourth year running, closely followed by Netherlands and Norway, like last year. At the other end of the index, the last three positions are again held by Turkmenistan, North Korea and Eritrea, three countries where freedom of information is non-existent.

Clearly upset that Fabian ideology is not taking root in the 20-somethings community, while the Libertarian movement is growing as an identified political affiliation in the cohort, he gave a speech in Australia in November, 2013 at the “Dangerous Ideas” conference declaring “Libertarianism in my country is now being taken seriously as an intelligent mode of political thought… it’s astonishing to me… ” (around the 8:00 – 10:00 mark) and then goes on a screed to deliberately disparage and attempt to dismiss the Libertarian school of thought – including the assertion that Libertarians are “anti-government” (as Moyers chuckles along in agreement…) Fraidy cat!

Krauss wasn’t the only one who was inspired. Brendan Fraser asked to be in the movie after reading the script and spent time in the shelters with the mothers and the babies. On the last day of shooting, Krauss said Fraser “quietly told Kathy that he was donating his salary to the shelter, so he actually did the movie for nothing. It was a complete surprise to all of us.”

That’s right, they never looked at credit scores, down payments, debt or other key risk-related factors banks consider to set interest rates. Not for blacks, or for supposedly “similarly situated” whites.
So how in the world can Justice claim “Ally’s specific policy and practice are not justified by a legitimate business need?”
It really can’t. That’s why it relies on statistics to “prove” such policies had a “disparate impact” on minorities, while arbitrarily finding those disparities so “significant” they can’t be explained by chance.
Arbitrary, because neither Justice nor CFPB will reveal its threshold for “significant,” despite repeated bipartisan requests from Congress.
The Credit Rating service Fitch notes that it may be more than just a desire to extort from the banks which lend in the auto market:
Fitch also notes that CFPB does not have jurisdiction over auto dealers and their practices. Actions taken against lenders could be an indirect way to regulate dealers.
