Elon Musk responded to an account on the X Platform [SEE HERE] that made a good point about how Zelenskyy’s unauthorized use of Starlink commercial satellites can create a downstream issue that is not being discussed.

The ISS even had to perform thruster burns on multiple occasions over the following months to avoid the debris cloud orbiting the Earth.
If Russia decides that the civilian Starlink satellite network is weaponized and fair game, we risk a serious Kessler syndrome. First modeled by NASA’s Donald Kessler and Burton Cour-Palais in 1978, it describes a scenario in which the density of objects in low Earth orbit gets so high that collisions start producing debris faster than natural processes (mainly atmospheric drag) can remove.
Each collision creates more fragments, which raise the odds of further collisions, leading to a self-sustaining cascade, a runaway cloud of satellite debris that can make certain orbital bands increasingly hazardous.

- The Russian satellite Kosmos‑2612 performed a series of deliberate orbital maneuvers to approach ICEYE‑X36, a U.S.-registered commercial radar-imaging satellite operated by ICEYE US.

Current Status:

Thankfully President Trump and Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin are able to just pick up the phone and talk to each other. They have developed a relationship that allows direct talks and immediate deconfliction.
However, if U.S. Starlink satellites are being used by Ukraine, without authorization, to target objectives deep inside Russia, a nuclear-armed power, this could develop into a very serious issue. Thus, avoiding this problem becomes the issue that Elon Musk is trying to mitigate.
From an operational perspective, Russia now seemingly has a very valid claim that U.S. assets (a nuclear power) were being used to target Russia (another nuclear power). This is not a good scenario.
Zelenskyy is putting the USA in a very difficult position. Musk is essentially trying to mitigate the potential threat from Zelenskyy’s self-centered and short-sighted behavior.

At some point in the future — maybe fifty years from now, if not sooner — it will become necessary for trash collector spacecraft to start cleaning up the space junk now floating around in earth orbit. It will be an expensive proposition, to be sure. But one which we will have no other choice but to pursue if we want to keep satellites safe in orbit. It’s just a matter of time before the need to do this becomes unavoidable.

Yes. Don’t forget our terrestrial industry also dumped their waste in the back corners of their properties, until it became uneconomic to do so. Don’t dump barges of trash in the oceans unless you want medical waste washing up on your shores. Cover your asbestos linoleum with more flooring, but eventually it has to be removed. Lead paint can be covered, but the health threat is still there. If a low orbit disaster took out our ability to cheaply place satellites, it will be expensive to fix, but cheaper not to be in the situation in the first place.
If you try to vaporize space debris by hitting it with a ground-based laser weapon, the debris will start ejecting vaporized gas and particles from its earth-facing side. That’s like putting a small thruster rocket under the debris – Newton’s third law – you are pushing the debris higher into orbit. You want to push the debris downward instead, toward earth, so it will burn up on reentry. Pushing it higher keeps it up in orbit longer and might push it into the path of other objects.
Elon needs to invent a tractor-beam instead.
Perhaps a big, slow deflector type ship – not too slow to decay orbit. Trash bouncing off it will be directed downwards to earth. Every once in awhile boost it higher.

The U.S. supposedly has offensive satellites in orbit. It has been discussed before that they could also be used to clean up garbage that’s floating around. We have already successfully tested ground-based lasers that have destroyed some of our own space debris.
There have been US offensive satellites for decades but they are secret.
The country that did field co-orbital ASAT satellites (satellites in orbit designed to approach and destroy other satellites) was the Soviet Union/Russia — their “IS” system was tested from 1968 to 1982, and their newer “Nivelir” system is now believed to be operational, having been seen creeping near US spy satellites since 2019.

More than HALF of all satellites in orbit are Starlink satellites. That’s not all satellites launched by SpaceX, that’s only counting the ones used for the Starlink system. They launch about 180 per month, every month.
I saw a video clip recently (that I haven’t found again) showing a SpaceX rocket just shooting Starlink satellite after satellite into position out of a slot in the rocket’s side like a big Pez dispenser, one after another.
THAT’S a lot of space-debris if Russia or anyone else starts to blow them up.

Not only Starlink, but there will eventually be a Chinese and Blue Origin constellation at around the same orbit. The good thing about the Starlink satellites is that they are in a very low orbit. Starlink wants them low to have low latency transmission to the ground, but it helps keep space clean as well. We think of satelliltes as being above the atmosphere, but that isn’t true. Its very thin, but the atmosphere still exists in orbit, even out to the moon. It is enough to produce an atmospheric drag on satellites, which will eventually drop them out of orbit. Starlink de-orbits their satellites continuously, but they would also fall out naturally due to atmospheric drag, and being so low it would not take long.
So shut it down and say the Russians did it. The war ends within hours.

They didn’t break the code. They spoofed the system by attaching circuit boards to the control units that gave false location data to Starlink. So, Starlink thought the drones were somewhere acceptable, not heading over to Russia to bomb babies.
Correct – it was a GPS spoof using a board that looked like the Starlink GPS to the terminal but offered a signal that was not. SpaceX corrected its algorithms to geolocate from Starlink beam-steering angles and solved the problem.

They adjourned and left the capital only to be recalled and informed of the limits of their jurisdiction and required to correct their erroneous act.

How about just halting any assistance that the US, CIA or whomever, is giving to this corrupt and criminal government in Ukraine? Let them use ‘EU satellites’ for their military communication. Initially, when the Ukraine government itseelf, shut down any internet communication between its own civilians, it was Elon Musk who allowed Starlink to pick up that communication and assist the citizens. AFAIK, it was not meant for the Ukrainian military or government at all. Ukraine shut down its own access to the internet, in order to stop internet communication amongst its own citizens.

Trump will have that tri-lateral with Putin and Xi, and then I expect Starlink to get switched off in Ukraine. When that happens, the EU will scream bloody murder, but hopefully the US, Russia, and China will be able to coordinate their movements in such a way as to contain the failing globalist EU.

Some hacker in the employ of the EU or UK must have broken into Starlink. Z is probably selling that hack to all comers worldwide as we speak. It sounds like Musk already has his people working on fixing that breach, and when they do fix it, Z will start screaming that the US has once again blocked his ability to defend Ukraine.
