Days after President Trump asks Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to halt attacks on Russian oil refineries, Zelenskyy takes the attacks up a notch and brags about all of the different NATO country missile systems being used to attack Russian oil refineries.

These are billions of dollars that sustain the war machine. The systems used included FP-1, RZ-100, MICH-2000, Palianytsia, Vendetta, Liutyi, Bars, Flamingo, Sichen, and Pelican.”

After weeks of various European/NATO countries hyping pending attacks from Russia, Zelenskyy now begins to name the missile systems being provided by those countries to target Russia. Zelenskyy and the EU-NATO group are intentionally trying to draw a Russian military response against the support the European countries are providing to Ukraine.
Zelenskyy is naming the missile systems as part of that antagonistic effort, and his NATO allies do it on the last day of the Russian elections. Specifically timed and coordinated for maximum propaganda use.
President Trump, or someone inside the U.S. administration needs to make a very public statement highlighting that everyone can see the organized effort for what it is. EU-NATO wants an expanded conflict with Russia, beyond the confines of the non-NATO Ukraine conflict.
Bloomberg reports that the Gazprom Neft-owned Moscow Oil Refinery, about 16 miles from the Kremlin, was struck by drones. The facility has a processing capacity of around 245,000 barrels a day and supplies fuel to the surrounding metro area.
Simultaneous with this increased provocation, the Ukrainian president announced plans for meeting with President Donald Trump in New York.
Zelenskyy feels emboldened by his relationships to his “NATO partners”, including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
This is not going to end well unless someone steps on Zelenskyy to bring him back to reality.

Think about this, except for Ukraines own missiles (if they actully exist) no European or US missiles can be fired by the Ukrainian military. Each vaiety of missile aquires a target using top secret, encoded data from it’s country of origin. Add the fact that highly trained specialists from the same countries have to be on site. For instance, a British missile is launched from the UK and a French missile is launched from France not Ukraine. The Ukrainians may well push the launch button and the missile takes to the air from Ukraine but that’s about it. Russia is fighting a multi-front proxy war and they are still winning!

EU member states are responsible for their own defense, but their is a mutual defense clause.
Ukraine is not a member of the EU or NATO.
So, technically it is Ukraine, European countries and the United States (?) involved, no NATO, not even EU. Once again, technically, the United States currently does not provide weapons to Ukraine directly (under President Trump). European countries purchase weapons fron the United States, then give them to Ukraine, so they are weapons belonging to European countries.

I have to admit that reading comments here and views posted by Sundance for the last several months have been very interesting to say the least but for the record, my observations are often opposite to most of the posts here about the Ukraine war and Russia. Hope you don’t think I am trying to intentionally aggravate the many very astute commenters here but I hope a view that is different has room here.
There was a story yesterday where it was reported that Putin has now given operational military control of one of the regions he had attacked in Ukraine to the Chechens – Muslims. Putin also has been reported using North Korean mercenaries to kill Ukrainians and now Muslims for the same purpose. Zelensky utilizing NATO systems to defend Ukraine is comparable to this, as I see it. As a country’s leader, I would be doing as much to defend my country as Z has been or more. Don’t get me wrong – Zelensky has a lot of issues that are not tolerable and I see that. Still, the solution has been and still is to have Russia withdraw to its own borders and peace will prevail because my observation has been that Putin does not want peace, he wants surrender. His demands for a ceasefire and an end to this war, are unreasonable so that is why it has not been possible to stop this.

Your observations seem to be a bit lopsided.
The question I would ask is why does Putin believe that having Ukraine join NATO or even to secure a security agreement for help against Russia a threat and Finland, who has a much longer border with Russia and IS a member of NATO is not ? The answer is that Putin wants Ukraine and all its resources as published in his white paper a few years ago and not Finland. Although I will grant that the bio-labs the US built across Ukraine make the above statement a moot point and lead me to think that perhaps the US can be viewed as the instigator of Putin’s reaction. Who would want bio-labs with GOF research on its borders ? And as mentioned before, the advancement of NATO is a direct result of the Soviet occupation of much of Europe after WW2. Countries that were occupied by Russia and freed in 1991 have a right to join together defensively in order to keep that from happening, don’t they ?

IMO, at this point Putin has no choice left but a military solution — back in 2022, in Turkey, Z had the opportunity for peace — a good deal — and that Russia wanted to sign, but Z, under UK influence, declined the deal — so here we are.
Ukraine military was attacking the Donbas region attempting to eliminate the Russian-speaking people who voted for independence against Kiev. The goal was to confiscate the cities and land and make them Ukrainian. Zelinski wanted to eliminate the Russian population.
Shortly after Zelinski was elected the following happened after promising to bring peace to Ukraine:
Russian was not to be taught or spoken in schools
The Russian Orthodox Church was outlawed
Opposition political parties were outlawed
Opposition media was cancelled
He was using the Azov nazis to fight the Eastern oblasts.
Here is my differing view: attacking the Donbas was a result of Putin paramilitary entities stirring up the population to revolt against the Ukrainian government and demand secession after the largely mining industry had declined where the Russian speaking people lived. So Russian backed paramilitary forces covertly began an uprising against the pro West Ukrainian government. If a foreign government sends paramilitary into another country to sponsor revolts there that would seem to be a just cause to attack them.
As far as the bans internally against Russia, one has to look at the history of Ukraine and Russia to understand that all the years of Russian occupation of Ukraine severely damaged Ukraine’s culture and language (by design) so once Ukraine was freed from the occupation, it would make sense that a country would want to save and preserve its heritage, language and customs after having a foreign entity affecting it with their own culture and language for many years. The Russian Orthodox Church was in conflict with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and had for many years of occupation of Ukraine served the Russian government as a network of informants against Ukrainians who desired independence. Banning it would make sense. I know that this is not the prevailing opinion here because there are explanations that differ from mine.

Ukraine is desperate and these escalations are all to play to Europe. If Zelenskyy fails to get NATO boots of the ground and soon the Ukrainian army will collapse. Ukraine is out of manpower. They just ordered 150,000 women’s winter coats. They’re going to conscript women to send to the front. Ukraine loses 30,000 men every month and has for the last two years. Ukraine is kidnapping 10,000-15,000 low quality conscripts. 1.5 to 1.8 million dead or irretrievably wounded Ukrainians. Everywhere along the front Ukraine is in retreat. For most of the war Russia has maintained a 8-10 to one casualty ratio. In recent months this has ballooned to as high as 36 to 1 casualty ratio. What is crazy is that even if the coalition of the willing were to send troops there’s so few that it would barely extend the war six months. Europe is a clown show militarily and politically.

Trump needs to make it very clear that the USA will not come to the defense of NATO nations that provoke a conflict. If the Europeans are determined to punch Russia in the nose, we can’t stop it, but we need to make it clear that we will not backstop them. They are on their own.
