All of the datapoints on this event look sketchy. I’m not saying there was intentional foul play at work, but the appearance of foul play in combination with the obtuse descriptions therein, cannot be avoided. It just looks sketchy.

The refinery operation has been offline for a week following a power disruption “found on ComEd’s primary and secondary power lines feeding into the Joliet refinery.” The company made the statement on Thursday, adding that power to the refinery was fully restored. However, with the power turned off floodwater overwhelmed a pumping station leading to flooding around the refinery which has compounded the outage.
The timing of this; the type of problem, together with the location (40 miles southwest of Chicago, Ill, near the intersection of Interstate 55 and the DesPlaines River) are aligned datapoints in a review of the consequence. Given the nature of geopolitics right now and the intention to politically weaponize the price of gasoline and diesel, everything just looks too coincidental.
NEW YORK, Sept 17 (Reuters) – Exxon Mobil said floodwater overwhelmed a pump at its 275,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Joliet, Illinois, according to a filing on Thursday. A containment boom had been deployed as part of the cleanup effort, the filing shows.
Exxon took the Joliet refinery offline on Sunday after a power outage triggered the facility’s safety flare.
The source of the outage was found on ComEd’s primary and secondary power lines feeding into the Joliet refinery, the company said in a statement on Thursday, adding that power to the refinery was fully restored.
The company declined to say whether the pump issue was linked to the power outage.
Industry monitor IIR Energy had expected return to normal service by the end of this week.
The refinery remains offline as of Thursday, according to Wood Mackenzie.
The refinery flared again on Wednesday, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, who posted about the incident on X.
The Joliet refinery is a key fuel supplier to the U.S. Midwest. According to the company’s website, it can produce about 11 million gallons per day of gasoline and diesel fuel.
The disruption comes amid a tight global fuel market, with the conflict in the Middle East and Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries putting pressure on fuel supplies.
The U.S. national average price of diesel surpassed $6 a gallon last week and continued to rise this week. (source)

Not so much the blue states, more like the blue state governments. At the end of the day, it’s best to remember that the citizens of those states are still Americans. We can argue, we can dislike their opinions, but they are still our people; this is still our country. And unless they are actively engaged in overthrow of our Republic (and that number is far smaller than many realize), we must deal only with the corrupt leadership and not wish harm upon them.
Besides, look at all those blue states on the map — there are many ‘red’ areas (and perhaps more ‘red’ than previously considered, given the cheating that’s taken place — at the behest of their corrupt governments).
ComEd has a history of being corrupt; I’m suspicious too. Pritzker & Co. wouldn’t be above something; they don’t care if they hurt the citizens of their state and the surrounding ones. And Pritzker’s support in IL isn’t as strong as it used to be, but he’s one of the front line members of the Democrat TDS brigade along with Newsome. So, motive.
I’d love it if this is found to have been a Democrat op because they’re a rotten bunch who belong in prison for life. That would be a great October Surprise.
Pritzker, Democrats, and public union bosses in IL are capable of all kinds of malevolence – they have no fear of the law and have rigged the courts. Chicago is ground zero for marxism in America – ‘The Light Bringer’ was spawned there.

Remember when all the egg plants were catching fire? Same kind of terrorism. The refinery sits in a isolated location near the river. I believe the main source of cude is tar sands oil from Canada. Surprised the refinery doesn’t have standby power.
I think you’ve got it. At direction one time there’s both mass cullings of birds and coincidental fires, another time the cows have to go, and akin to the AI panic the attempt is made to counter Trump’s moves to energy dominance.
One of my early reads on the subject was “SHAM: Social Change Through Contrived Crises” (1993) by Bernadine Haag — just did a mini-dox on her and she appears to have been an Arizona pro-life activist. She points out this sort of thing in the Clinton ’90s of course but cites many examples from the ’70s, ’60s, and some from early 20th century.
One could run the same analysis on Europe turn of the century and see how the USSR happened. This is SOP for leftism and authoritarianism as far back as one can bother to look.
