All of the datapoints on this event look sketchy. I’m not saying there was intentional foul play at work, but the appearance of foul play in combination with the obtuse descriptions therein, cannot be avoided. It just looks sketchy.
Exxon’s key refinery in Joliet, Illinois, produces gasoline and diesel fuel. The facility handles 275,000 barrels of crude per day, producing about 11 million gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel every day. {SOURCE}
The refinery operation has been offline for a week following a power disruption “found on ComEd’s primary and secondary power lines feeding into the Joliet refinery.” The company made the statement on Thursday, adding that power to the refinery was fully restored. However, with the power turned off floodwater overwhelmed a pumping station leading to flooding around the refinery which has compounded the outage.
The timing of this; the type of problem, together with the location (40 miles southwest of Chicago, Ill, near the intersection of Interstate 55 and the DesPlaines River) are aligned datapoints in a review of the consequence. Given the nature of geopolitics right now and the intention to politically weaponize the price of gasoline and diesel, everything just looks too coincidental.
NEW YORK, Sept 17 (Reuters) – Exxon Mobil said floodwater overwhelmed a pump at its 275,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Joliet, Illinois, according to a filing on Thursday. A containment boom had been deployed as part of the cleanup effort, the filing shows.
Exxon took the Joliet refinery offline on Sunday after a power outage triggered the facility’s safety flare.
The source of the outage was found on ComEd’s primary and secondary power lines feeding into the Joliet refinery, the company said in a statement on Thursday, adding that power to the refinery was fully restored.
The company declined to say whether the pump issue was linked to the power outage.
Industry monitor IIR Energy had expected return to normal service by the end of this week.
The refinery remains offline as of Thursday, according to Wood Mackenzie.
The refinery flared again on Wednesday, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, who posted about the incident on X.
The Joliet refinery is a key fuel supplier to the U.S. Midwest. According to the company’s website, it can produce about 11 million gallons per day of gasoline and diesel fuel.
The disruption comes amid a tight global fuel market, with the conflict in the Middle East and Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries putting pressure on fuel supplies.
The U.S. national average price of diesel surpassed $6 a gallon last week and continued to rise this week. (source)
Suspicious Cat remains, well, suspicious….

Always assume malicious intent unless and until an innocent explanation is proven.
You just can’t hate leftist globalist A-holes enough. Fuel production shutdowns, environmental issues etc are just setting the stage for their false flag “BAD AI” event. They haven’t killed people yet that we know of but wouldn’t rule out their next event(s) to be fatal
So the plandemic didn’t kill anyone?
Obama library is online drawing down energy for unknown reasons. Feds should investigate.
Don’t eat or drink anything that you didn’t prepare yourself.
“The source of the outage was found on ComEd’s primary and secondary power lines feeding into the Joliet refinery, the company said in a statement on Thursday, adding that power to the refinery was fully restored.“
No mention of what the actual problem was. Were the lines cut? Shorted?
Vague stories like this add to the conspiracy.
As for the pump, no generator backup?
“As for the pump, no generator backup?”
My first thought!
And what caused the power outage? Kamikaze squirrels?
Russian drones of course/s
AI
Got me.
Would think that a big faculty like that is going to have more than one tie in to the grid at that.
Fail-over circuits, automatic switching and backups for the backups. The refinery works on a continuous process. Shutdowns are costly.
It’s commonly referred to as SABOTAGE. Way too convenient timing.
Did it rain a lot there? That was a flood pump overwhelmed if there’s no flooding? This is not my area of expertise. I’m just curious.
It seems there are a lot of voters who are single issue voters, gasoline prices determine who they vote for or against! Makes no sense to me but what do I know? I know Iran doesn’t have nuclear material to make a bomb and gas prices rose. So what? Those prices will come back down it’s a small price to pay to avoid annihilation! JMO
To me it’s an effort to increase gasoline prices and get Democrats elected! Gasoline prices will remain high until election day or for California election months!
The last time they did a shutdown was also election year in 2024…. seems like quite the coincidence to me.
It goes beyond single issue of fuel costs at the pump. The prices are visible at the pump and hit again at the check-out counter.
Diesel costs hit every single point in the supply chain for good before they reach the point of sale.
Gasoline is both a visible trigger point to have people look at costs of things at the point of purchase as well as costs that hot folks who drive to work as well as to get the kids to activities.
Between now and the midterms, I suspect that Suspicious Cat is going to be awfully busy.
Sundance will need to invest in a lot of wild caught Alaskan salmon to keep Suspicious Cat in top condition.
I’m sure he will get right on it 😼
Yes, the Suspicious Cat will be very, very busy. On the other hand, the nation’s electric power system is old and creaky, especially at the power distribution level; and many if not most of the nation’s petroleum refineries are likewise old and creaky.
Why would any refinery owner have spent loads of money on maintenance and upgrades in the early 2010’s and in the early 2020’s when Barack Obama and later Joe Biden made it federal policy that their refineries would eventually be shut down?
I read today that there hasn’t been a refinery built since the 70s.
On the same egregious level as no new dams.
Right on Betsy!
We need to send Sundance some treats…
Unlimited,.sis.
Sabotage!

Some of Biden’s illegal pets at work?
Minimal coverage here in local media. So, another curious coincidence
Chicago Jesus is smiling.
Feels like this would be/ is legitimately classified critical infrastructure – which is why it was targeted.
It has begun. Hold tight Patriots. We can no longer fall for the leftists modus operandi.
Nothing can stop what is coming. No matter what Barack Hussein Omuslim comes up with.
Unfortunately it’s coming for all of us.
Just a coincidence. /s
“Trillions are at stake!”
The first of a few “October Surprise”s
Is the plant set up on a Delta or Wye for power distribution? Offline generation? Back up pumps as used at the Byron nuke plant?
A local refinery to me, Conoco Phillips, are building their own power station. I don’t know if it is intended to be a primary source or a back up system. Kind of like a whole house generator that kicks on if/when the power goes out. Maybe use some of what they burn off as fuel to operate it?
Near Van Vleck high school or another.
Could just be the Blues Brothers messing around.:)
Penguin involvement?
If this is not the normal excuse to shut down the refinery due to maintenance reasons and changing over to the non formulated fuel guidelines based on cooling or heating guidelines as set forth by the EPA. Commonwealth Edison in Illinois is the major supplier of energy in north east Illinois encompassing the Chicago area. They are in bed with the Illinois government and city of Chicago. Beyond that I know nothing. I left there 25 years ago for greener pastures lower taxes and warmer weather. If you live in that State and you are able leave.
Note Biden’s friends who were pushing the Green nonsense onto us…. were all long oil during his term. In 2024 they shutdown for 3 weeks or so… and fuel waivers had to be issued for IL, IN, MI, WI; as Midwest gasoline inventories dropped below 5-year low. They are generally a pipeline supplier into Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. All the states that are typically battleground states.
“Given the nature of geopolitics right now and the intention to politically weaponize the price of gasoline and diesel, everything just looks too coincidental.”
Follow Ockham’s Razor! Given a choice between unlikely coincidence and likely sabotage…I choose sabotage!
It definitely sabotage…. either by someone at the company, or someone aligned with Democrats.
Well, it is Jabba the Hutt Pritzker’s area of influence & flatulence so… There are no coincidences. This tracks with fuel prices up nort here in SE WI. Today’s price is $4.49 for regular unleaded.
I happened upon a Sam’s club with gas & paid $4.19 today. A minimum of .30/gal I got to keep.
I figured out our gasoline price here to be $5.36 a gallon.
I am across the Pacific. Prices are climbing daily and that was yesterday’s price.
All according to plan…

This may be the replacement chaos.?
(No $$$ for riots now so we’ll shut down fuel….)
We know they have absolutely no moral code so anything and everything they can do to screw up the midterms is in play.
When this has never happened before the smell of fish is overwhelming.
But what are we to expect from a company that is as WEF and globalist as can be.
Buildeburger meeting occupied by all major energy companies and a week later and this is just now coming out ?
This is a national security issue and all proof of power disruptions can easily be detected.
DISRUPTION and ROT:
*Hundreds of closures and burning of food processing facilities.
*Selling off (sometimes torching) thousands of acres of farmland, orchards, forests, etc. (at times to foreign investors)
*Poisoned water supplies.
*Tainted food
*unqualified (lack of education and training) -foreign and domestic- medical, legal, and educational “professionals”
*dummy:
daycares, convalescent homes, food delivery, services, private nonprofits supposedly benefiting the needy
*releasing invasive insects to infect crops, livestock and people
The list could go on, and on, and on, and…
“The refinery operation has been offline for a week following a power disruption “found on ComEd’s primary and secondary power lines feeding into the Joliet refinery.”
Primary and Secondary.
So…pretty much intentional.
I sounds like it. I am guessing that there were no cameras around to determine how it happened.
Where was Mike?
