BACKGROUND CONTEXT – In the runup to the 2024 election, I was having a lengthy discussion with a CEO of a large tech company about the alignment of Silicon Valley the MAGA election of Donald Trump.
The CEO said to me, “don’t be fooled; as soon as they get this upcoming Artificial Intelligence (AI) system fully developed, big tech will immediately jump back to supporting the Democrats.”
The reason was simple. Silicon Valley operates on a business plan where only a few, elite trillionaire tech companies control things. In order to secure their overwhelming market share, they will need regulation to shut down competition. Those same trillionaires will then write the regulations and attain market dominance. Everything else between now and that moment when they claim “safety and security” is chaff and countermeasures.
It is with that context that CTH has reviewed the rise of the big AI developers and also reviewed the recent claims by those same trillionaires about the need for urgent and immediate AI regulation. Their primary reasoning, “safety and security.”

He also suggested that candidates running for president in 2028 ought to make A.I. one of their “central agendas” and “have a very clear plan” for responding to safety and economic concerns around the technology.
The recommendations from the former president amount to some of his most detailed comments yet about A.I. as a political issue for his party. At a moment when President Trump continues to downplay concerns about the technology, some Democrats see an opportunity for the party to draw a clear contrast in the midterms and beyond on an issue of growing significance. In a Democratic Party with no clear leader, many look to Mr. Obama for guidance, and his comments carry considerable weight.

It’s my understanding the concern is re upcoming ‘Super AI’, where AI has access across multiple disciplines. Keeping it compartmentalized (e.g. medical AI, physics AI, etc) seems like a solution.
So long as we keep believing the hype about AI, it will become in our minds, what it isn’t.

BigTech runs monopolies at a scale that is orders of magnitude greater than any in history. Yet they have created a pop-culture arena where citizens cheer on their favorite oligarch.
To be useful in a free market, competitive economy, there would be dozens of big players and hundreds of small ones. The software/system architecture would be distributed and redundant. It could run within the existing power grid’s scalability. There would be business cases developed across all size enterprises deciding if/how they would adopt it.

Yup. I saw this when I was working in telecom. The big carriers openly discussed how they could push legislation and buy off elected officials to make sure that start-ups couldn’t compete with them for market share. AI is SOFTWARE subject to Humans who write the AI APP programs, operating rules, defining parameters and desired outcome bias for that SOFTWARE.
It is humans who enter the AI supported queries. It’s the Human element that needs to be “fixed” and “throttled”.
There is NO STOPPING the deployment AI in any form one wants to name …. either it’s embraced and the HUMAN factor related to AI is properly handled as well as integrated into the use of AI … or the likes of hackers and worse WILL prevail.

In case it’s been lost on folks … AI was being written and DEPLOYED as far back the 1995 – 2000, if not earlier, in the form of; data mining tools, video tracking programs, video REC-ID programs, alerting tools, numerical analytics, data topic trackers, autonomous programming tools, etc.
The latest advancement in AI is NOT related to the AI Software but the PROCESSING HARDWARE that runs it.
I had been directly working with and developing this stuff since that time, before retiring in 2017.
Two different issues with AI as I see it.
One, is the active AI out there getting into everything. It seems to me we need AI police that are constantly watching over other AI in this scenario. Is anybody developing that?
Second are the products that AI produces like imagery, audio, analysis, and even tangible things like tools, cars, or even individual parts in complex machines. In this case we need labeling, like copyrights, that clearly identifies that the item is AI generated. We also need laws that prevent removing those labels and re-using or passing along any AI content without the identification label.
If you want to look at other “new” things introduced into society, cars might be a deft analogy. When the Model T became available everybody went a little nuts racing, modifying, crashing, getting stuck, vacations, and replacing the horse economy. Eventually many companies came and went and cars became part of life and essential even though they are still inherently dangerous.
I think these Flock Cameras and the other Cameras everywhere pointed at you at every intersection, all along every highway are going to send every signle bit of info directly to an AI data center for further review.
“The Cloud” is a data center today.
I don’t use the “cloud” and don”t understand why people do. Drives are so cheap and powerful these days there is no reason you can’t store all your data in your own bubble. Maybe business needs it but for home computing, plug in a $100 drive and you’re set.

A recent conversation went something like this:
Person 1: People need to understand the mental challenges that clancy has to go through as a mother of three.
Clancy went to a doctor to address postpartum depression and was prescribed x pill(s)
Clancy accepted the medicine and used the medicine.
Sometime later, Clancy’s 3 children died.
Clancy admitted to being a cause of their deaths.
1 juror of 12 claimed there was no reasonable doubt about whom caused the deaths.
Maybe that juror did not understand?
Person 2: Maybe that 1 juror did understand?
Person 1: After the c-virus era, no one trusts the medicine field.
Person 2: Some people must trust the medicine field because medicines are being prescribed by doctors and patients are taking the medicines ( reference Clancy did so )
Clancy chose to take the medicine. That was a persons choice.
If there was negligence by the medicine practice, someone could bring up charges on the doctor or pharmaceutical co.
That is a separate law case, from the Clancy law case.

Person 2: That may be correct since that field does have deep pocket$ and can pay attornie$ to play
character games (how ironic since psychotic medicine, and prescribers are the concern) against an accuser and make the extended process, time, and cost prohibitive endeavor for an individual accuser.
Person 1: Yes. With a lack of trust, I went to a doctor for a recent medical concern, and some tests were done. The doctor prescribed y medicine. The doctor did not give an alternative nor clearly explain why to the patient, person 1, about y medicine.
Person 2: Yes. Sometimes there is a want to get a doctor opinion. The alternative options are few. And at some point during the limited longevity of the mind / body lifes’ a person may get weakened and want to seek help.
Person 1: Yes, so I asked ‘ AI ‘ about the medical situation and I got advice that the doctor did not say. I would not have known of the other alternative treatment and that A I was helpful.

If something goes awry with that A I advice, whom do you contact at A I? A I?
A I is anonymous, it is not a person.
Whom at A I has accountability, or liability?
Does A I pay malpractice insurance?
Is A I trustworthy?
Could A I change its advice to other persons or you, over time?
If A I did change advice, how would you know?
Would the A I advice be good, or bad?
Is A I better than some hospital, doctor etc. advice?
