I’m looking forward to reading the Treeper’s stories and reflections about this day of national celebration! Since I haven’t done so yet, apologies if anyone has already point out that the U.S. Constitution (effective in 1789) is the oldest written national constitution still in use by a major power! And we decree a great harvest of souls. Reveal Jesus as Lord. Reveal him in his splendor to every country that doesn’t know him. Let America and the nations bring You praise and honor and glory in the earth. We decree a supernatural revival that cannot be legislated or controlled by the governments of men. Revival that has a life of its own. No human on earth or demon in hell can stop it. Release this supernatural outpouring of your glory.

Let God arise and his enemies be scattered. He is not willing that any should perish. The Lord has heard the heart cry of his people. And in Jesus’ name, we lend our mouths and our faith to bless America and not curse this great land. And in the power of agreement, we all pray this prayer:

IS THIS TOO GAUDY FOR YOU?

They used to call the American flag Old Glory and for me she still is.

For most of my 78 years on planet Earth, I wake up each morning and feel blessed to be a citizen of the greatest country in human history.

That’s what America is and if you don’t know that you haven’t read your history.

I’ve come to understand that anti-Americanism is bred by ignorance of history. The slave trade across Saharan Africa, the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean was founded by Islamic slavers hundreds of years before Christian Europe engaged in it. The prophet Muhammad was a slave-owner and a slave-trader. Did you know that? Even today, the Arabic word for all people of the Negroid race is “Abeed”, meaning slave.

And slavery is still wide-spread throughout much of Africa and the Islamic world. But not in America. The United States fought a great Civil War to abolish it. In his will, Washington freed his slaves and Jefferson penned the revolutionary document that proclaimed our freedoms as a God-given right. Both these men were born into slave-owning families and knew no other life, yet they both took steps to abolish it. Had you been in their shoes what would you have done? They were great men to whom we owe our way of life.

But many don’t see it that way. I see it on FB. I read the comments of erstwhile friends and family members who openly disdain America but not one of them thanked me for my service. And that’s okay because in the fifty-one years since my discharge from the army, I have never gone a day without a silent prayer of thanks for those who sacrificed their lives for my freedoms and even the freedoms of those too dull-witted to understand the gift they’ve been given!

To what end was their sacrifice when our borders were opened to drug lords and thugs and our cities became sanctuaries for illegal aliens and the crime and fraud that came as a result? These things were rampant in the last administration, and had President Trump not righted the great wrongs being perpetrated on the American people, the great American experiment might have come to an end.

And that can still happen!

So I have a word of caution for those waving protest signs on the bridge of the USS America, blissfully unaware of icebergs looming in the dark. The ocean is cold, full of sharks and there aren’t enough lifeboats.

Who will give up their seat for you?

My family has an interesting connection to the signing of the Declaration of Independence [as I’m sure many families do 🙂 ]

My Great Great Great grandfather married a woman related to the Rodney family of colonial Delaware in 1801. His Great Grandfather settled in Somerset County Maryland in the late 1600s. The Rodney family arrive in Delaware in the late 1600s as well. My Great Great Great grandmother Rodney was the daughter of a cousin of Caesar Rodney.

Caesar Rodney was active in Patriot causes dating back to the repeal of the hated Stamp Act in 1766. He served in various positions in the Delaware state government and became a leading proponent of American independence. Rodney became an officer in the Delaware State Militia in support of the state’s Revolutionary War effort.
The Second Continental Congress met shortly after the first shots of the American Revolution were fired in April 1775. Rodney was appointed as one of the three Delaware delegates to Congress. As the Revolutionary War intensified, Rodney spent more time in Delaware than in Philadelphia to assist with the critical task of supplying the Continental Army. General George Washington’s correspondence with Rodney through letters reflects Washington’s appreciation for Rodney’s efforts in this regard.

On July 1, 1776, Rodney was in Dover, Delaware, when he received a letter from Philadelphia. The Continental Congress had scheduled a vote the next day, July 2, on Virginian Richard Henry Lee’s proposal that “these united colonies are, and of right ought to be free and independent states.” Thomas McKean and George Reed, the two Delaware delegates in Philadelphia, disagreed over whether to vote for independence. While Reed and McKean both ultimately signed the Declaration, Reed did not favor the vote for independence, while McKean did. Caesar Rodney was needed to break the tie. As an ardent believer in independence, Rodney did not hesitate.

Rodney got on his horse and rode for eighteen straight hours and over eighty miles through thunder and rain to get to Philadelphia before the vote, a ride that usually took two days. He stopped only to change horses. As if straight out of a Hollywood movie, it is said that the other Congressional delegates heard the hoofbeats on the cobblestones outside the convention hall, and in came Caesar Rodney, near exhaustion, covered in mud, with spurs still attached, to break his state’s tie to vote in favor of independence. He said upon arriving, “As I believe the voice of my constituents and all sensible and honest men is in favor of independence, and as my own judgment concurs with them, I give my vote for independence.”

His ride was commemorated on the Delaware State Quarter:

I’ve been watching different videos of all the celebrations so far. I have to admit I had tears and more than a wealth of gratitude that I was born here and have been an American all my life, watching the wonderful glimpses of our nation and the beautiful celebrations going on. The tall ships, Mt. Rushmore, the celebrations at sporting events, video of small towns and large cities is just so very moving. The flyovers the people singing, the foreign visitors enjoying our country so much, all of it.

I love this nation. It is written in my soul and will never be dislodged. I love the real American patriots who love it too. May God keep blessing this land and may we continue to do the good and just and loving things for this nation and for each other with strength, gratitude, caring and a fierceness to protect all of our blessings.

Have a wonderful, magical and inspiring day today. Share the pride and love you have for this nation with as many people as you can!

I simply love this country. I’m in awe of the Founding Fathers and patriots that gave us this exceptional nation. I believe wholeheartedly that God’s hand was on our founding and I am so grateful to him. I pray for his continued grace for America.

It’s been a wonderful boon to have so many Europeans experiencing the singular wonder that is America. I’m hoping their effusive praise and appreciation of our nation opens a few eyes in our populace.
