As dawn rises the next chapter begins….
Happy Birthday America!
Some will say she is not perfect; they are wrong. It is within our imperfections that she remains uniquely perfect.
Heavenly Father, breathe Your spirit into our land. We beg You to fertilize every seed of right, moral and appropriate pride to stand together in brotherhood, even when we are not united. Let Your light shine through the imperfect cracks of our assembly, creating a bonding love that guides our deeds and decisions.
Lord that grants us the abundance of an expanding universe, let today trigger a revival in our hearts. We ask that You breath your purpose upon the ember of our national soul and ignite within us a thankfulness and appreciation for the blessings that You provide. May the ignition once again focus our stewardship and passion to live according to Your word, on this land which You have provided.
Father, direct Your favor to our thoughts of humility and purpose, so that we may stand bold, steadfast, diligent, honest and true in Your pure light and intent. Expand our heart to see Your gift, grasp its value and embrace this moment of reflection and renewal.
We ask Your blessings to remain as a shield for our nation; covered with Your wings of protection and purpose. We ask You to receive our prayer today and place Your spirit of peace and stability upon our celebration. We cherish the opportunity to rejoice today in the abundance You have provided. Guide us to remain faithful and deserving of Your grace. ~Amen

I was 9, 10 in September 1976.
In 1976 I was aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea CVA 43 which was deployed. The air wing put on an incredible air show to celebrate July 4th, 1976……
Marcia, I was 26 and celebrated our bicentennial at Valley Forge Park dressed as a Colonial woman with my two year old son also dressed as a colonial youngster. I made the costumes myself. We had the best time celebrating with many friends, strangers who became friends and everyone who were visitors at Valley Forge Park for this event. I too, am so happy and grateful to God for allowing me to be able to also celebrate our 250th.

Louis Armstrong said he wasn’t sure when he was born in 1901, so he chose the Fourth of July as his birthday. His father abandoned the family soon after he was born, and he grew up very poor in New Orleans.
He earned money working for the Karnoffsky family, who ran a tailor shop and other businesses in New Orleans. He would ride on the Karnoffsky’s junk and coals carts and toot a tin horn to attract customers.
Mrs. Karnoffsky would sometimes ask Louis to stay and eat supper with them, maybe because she suspected he never got a square meal at home. Louis later said he didn’t realize that white people treated other white people badly, too, until he saw how the Jewish Karnoffskys were treated.
One day Louis saw a used cornet in a pawn shop and asked the Karnoffskys for a $5 advance on his wages so he could buy it. They said yes, and the rest is history.

I remember the first time I experienced air conditioning as a child. It was a Belk’s department store in Morehead City, NC on a hot summer day. It shocked me and took my breath, but I quickly fell in love with it.

I am on the Morehead City waterfront right now enjoying the beauty, the friendly folks and the AC. It’s a mild 86 degrees with wonderful breezes.

Father God,
This day is so meaningful for so many, and to my family especially, as our Savannah was broken free from human trafficking this week.
I shudder to think at how close I was to giving up in this journey when all seemed so terribly lost.
Father God, You ARE THE GREAT EMANCIPATOR and when all hope feels lost and our knees grow weak, and our mind weary, and it seems that everything and everyone is lost…
YOU SHOW UP AND YOU SHOW UP BIG TIME!
For those still held captive… we are coming for you!!!!
Father God, restore in us a nation of brotherly solidarity and help us to be Your Hands and Feet in this mission world of humanity.

We have one with kitty Alzheimers.. he’s 15 yo and in decline and emaciated… so we feed to cater to him. This is Millie and she goes on a diet once Timmy passes away. But Timmy lived to see his very best friend come home and he’s quite content in her lap giving her love and purrs. We grow really big beautiful cats.
Every day, Savannah improves and looks better and better.
Monday will be hard, so this weekend… we take it very easy.

I had to memorize the first part of the Declaration of independence when I was in school, although I cannot remember in which grade. Oh how I wish it would mandatory for every young, impressionable student today to do the same. Which ideological, Anti American activist judge would dare to rule against any legal challenge against it?
And how ironic that it is a Brit who reads this powerfully delivered historical document, which I would also require of every student to hear…into perpetuity.

There are about 15 veterans that survived to have their picture taken. Besides so fascinating, I feel these people lived at the end of what might be called the Middle Ages.

Fifty years ago today, I marched in the Bicentennial parade with my volunteer fire department. I loved this beautiful country then, and never stopped loving it.
This is the kind of experience that young people remember, fifty years on, an important part of our nation’s aging and yet continuity.
It is what the left wanted to deprive our young of by undermining the whole celebration of the 250th marking of our most radical document, the Declaration declaring our independence from the mother country and reasons therefore.

Or these, Henri Browere life masks of early Americans (Jefferson/Adams, in 1825ish). Marquis de Lafayette. I went to Cooperstown NY to wander to the baseball hall of Fame…..stumbled on this museum……I never got to the baseball hall of fame.
I got chills when I went in that rather small room of the museum. This was literally a polaroid of what they looked like on that day. That visit was about 40 years ago (summer break from college) and I still remember it.
