My dearest friends, I have not spent a decade focusing on FISA or the ‘702’ issues because defeating the pending surveillance state has been the priority; that is an ancillary matter against powerful financial interests.
No, the core of my focus has always been on what FISA (702) represents.
FISA (702) et al, is a tool, a key per se’. A key that unlocks a data library. We debate control of the key, but do not spend enough time focusing on the data library itself and what it represents.
I’m not even sure if President Donald Trump is fully aware of this or not, but I am generally confident that DC insiders understand the potential.
The NSA database is essentially a library of information about activity. It is a storage box of metadata and within that data there is a sub-set, a flow of information related to election activity.
Behind that part of the issue, with that thought in mind, you now have an expanded perspective of why the ODNI would be involved in election type investigative activity. The DNI is above the NSA Director. The ODNI is an access point to the data library. Tulsi Gabbard as DNI has a vested interest in all the data housed within that vault.
Congress stood jaw agape at the appearance of DNI Gabbard in Fulton County, Georgia, without actually recognizing what stakeholder interests are represented by the content in Fulton County election warehouses.
Essentially, the NSA data vault shows XXX activity, and the factual paperwork supporting XXX exists in physical warehouses. The data is within a digital library. The factual paperwork is on the ground.
Now, pause for a moment and understand the digital library is one aspect. Access to that digital library is an entirely different kettle o’ fish.
The lockbox to open the digital record is accessed using the recently discussed 702 pathways. As presented for several years, the FISA (702) key is simply a tool. The tool is needed to unlock the data.
Arguably, if you cannot access the data there is no reason to capture it. As a result, without FISA (702) there is no collection, because there is no need for metadata collection. Understood?
As a consequence, FISA (702) is not about foreign stuff as it relates to the common discussion; instead, it is the baseline of the entire data capture. Understanding this takes you to a mental reset.
The capture is never discussed (see Edward Snowden -vs- James Clapper), we only see debate on the access.
So, if you take your thinking back to the data collection itself, then you ask what is in that massive digital vault we call the NSA library.
There’s a lot of stuff in there, including all of the electronic data that surrounds elections. All of that data can be filtered permitting a granular look at election outcomes and all the background electronic communication that comes attached to it. [Hence, the DNI stakeholder interest in Fulton, County.]
FISA (702) essentially represents the authority, the key that unlocks the ability to review the data.
Think very carefully.
If the database contains the digital records of elections, and if those digital records show manipulation of election data, then anyone accessing that massive library would represent a risk.

Now, does the recent display of extreme concern from specific people in congress start to take on a new context?

There is no acceptable number to moral individuals. We live amongst those who are immoral and they demonstrate their desire for power, or to take down our form of government daily.
I suspect people have been cheating at elections since the first one took place millennia ago. A Democrat friend back in Denver during the 2008 campaigns, and whose mother was a District Leader, admitted to me that they had been cheating his entire life (fifty years). He had seen the Light, and switched registration to Republican, and though he admitted cheating, he would not divulge how out of loyalty to his family. My point is, cheating was going on well before it could more easily be done through data manipulation.
The only semi-secure method to achieve a respectable election is for 100% voter ID requirement, including the request for an absentee ballot. Mail-In Ballots must be eliminated! Even then, as my friend could attest to, cheating would be accomplished by some other means. Electronics, and massive databases simply make it easier.
I live in a community of 35,000, but less than 9,000 came out to vote on Tuesday.

While sitting in the waiting room at a doctor’s office this morning, and the dentist’s office last week, in both cases I was the only person not scrolling on their cell phone, I actually hardly take it with me, and realized I was now the oddball in the room, people were struck at how I was sitting there not being caged to those little handheld devices, simply watching them. In one case, a fellow waiting room person realized I wasn’t scrolling on anything and they gave me a look like there was something wrong with me for not having one of those devices.
About a handful of people know my cell phone number. It’s for MY use …not necessarily anyone else. We are still the oddballs that have a landline and I request medical offices, pharmacy, service people, etc. to use it to call me.
I watch my mid -30’s neighbor constantly looking at her cell phone, even walking out the back door to put garbage in the container.
We go to several classical. concerts a year and, reasonably, cell phones are not allowed to be turned on (“even in vibration mode” but you would be appalled at how many “mature adults” ignore the announcements and keep them on, face down and occasionally peek to see if they have messages….and, of course, immediately whip them out at intermission.
When I retired one of the first things I did was stop wearing a watch because I was a slave to it for several years and I no longer wanted to be controlled by it…I have transferred that dislike becoming dependent to a device with a cell phone. And, I honestly think I do not miss a thing.

No watch here either. And while I have a cellphone, I keep it mostly at home tethered to a timer so the recharger runs for 10 minutes twice a day (without my tending to it like a housecat). That cell is almost entirely used just for relaying texts to my desktop (WITH A REAL KEYBOARD!). I have a “landline” for voice calls, with a roboblocking feature. No robos for 6 years now.

My children, grandchildren, and friends know my landline number.
For my internet connections, I use my Linux PC, and when I’m outside, I go through TOR.
I too depended on my wristwatch for sixty years before retiring at the end of 2019. I gave it away when I did, and don’t miss it one bit. I took the requisite pen from my pocket as well. That was far more important than my watch, but I confess to being dependant on my cell phone, it knows the time, and I loathe land lines because they ring when 90% of the time its spam. I can’t ditch the cell phone, as texting has become my method of communication, but sure wish I could!

How does anyone or any organization grab a hold of a massive amount of data on private citizens for various purposes without a legitimate court order AND/OR the permission of the targeted parties?
For example, how is it that I received a nice little envelope looking kind of like a wedding invitation but all it says in the upper left-hand corner is “Erika Kirk” in an elegant and expensive (ink-wise) font and it is addressed to me, myself, with first name, middle name and last and I NEVER EVER made a contribution to Turning Point USA so where did they get that? There are businesses who’s sole purpose in life is to hoover up people’s personal information and sell it to other businesses for their use. They scour public records for the information. They buy more information from other businesses that people do business with, including banks, hospitals, etc. – they do so by making it hard to “opt-out”, as well as make use of the absurd language in the law that allows them to “share it with their business associates/partners.”
It was a result of those same worthless CONgress people who allowed their votes to be bought – if they gave a damn about the people and the Constitution they would have written it such that people had to “opt-in” and expressly allow their information to be shared.
Then there are the countless hackers that have broken into big business databases – like the credit bureaus (who have everything on you) and Amazons and insurance companies, etc. – who then turn around and sell the information to the highest bidders (no doubt it’s sold multiple times).
If you ever made the mistake of donating to either of the national or state election committees, or even your local candidate for a state office, your data was collected, and has been “shared” or sold to anyone wishing to buy the donor list.

I wonder if the only thing delaying President Trump’s use of his authority, and power, to stop the spying on American citizens is the mid-term elections; should the Democrats gain majority in the House, they could frame his use of the authority and powers for another round of impeachments.
I know in northern Nevada, Congressional District 2, what was once an easy Republican win is now completely up in the air and could very easily go Democrat and suspect, even with all the hoopla over various candidates endorsed by Pres. Trump winning in their primaries, including the one in our district, it’s not going to be anywhere a for-sure victory.
President Trump was informed of his Presidential POWER to end the spying when he was sworn in 2016. WE INFORMED HIM DIRECTLY.

Alas, he can cease that authority because he has the power to do so. And the judicial branch, specifically the FISA court and its chief scoundrels, Roberts and Boasberg can eat sand.
It makes it a transparent and very real impossible to ignore challenge to the unelected officials who are doing the spying…and it challenges Congress to a battle that is long overdue. There are no remaining political efforts that President Trump can call on Congress to perform. Any tokens have been spent. As they say, it is a lame duck term. That is not a slight to President Trump but a truth to the reality of what to expect.

I refused to allow my child or myself to be tested “for free” for c-19 back in the day to participate in a parochial after-school event. I apparently was the only parent who read the privacy policy which stated the DNA obtained from testing may be retained and used for further use irrevocably, and that all rights to know what derivative uses our DNA was going towards was irrevocably waived.

I think it also helps to understand that this collection has been going on for years and is stored to be accessed as needed.
I first thought of FISA as some kind of wire tap where the collection was going on in near real-time, but in thinking more about it and from your previous articles, they were searching on STORED information, not real-time.
This is not to say they cannot collect in real-time, I’m sure they can, but it’s important to understand this collection and storage goes on 24/7/365. All they need to do is decide on a target and search parameters.

The largest Signals Intelligence gathering site in the US is not owned, or operated by NSA. The signals gathered at that site are “shared” with NSA by one or more military branches.

I am an old lady of 80 years. My thoughts are simple. It makes my life more bearable that way. So here’s a thought. Obviously 702 would be a good thing in this hands of honorable people. We cannot guarantee that will always be so. Hence the Obama years when it was manipulated egregiously. We simply cannot trust that good people will always be in charge. I say blow it all up.
