The longer he is assigned to this almost hopeless task, the more he develops an ‘I don’t give a damn‘ attitude, regardless of the audience size. It’s completely understandable.

Within all of the Canadian free trade agreements (FTAs), regardless of nation, there is something called a baseline memorandum of understanding (MOU). That MOU outlines how the trade agreement for goods sold into Canada are contingent upon Canada retaining access to the U.S. market. When the USMCA is dissolved, almost every single FTA organized by the Canadian government that matters, collapses. Canadians have no concept of what is coming.

I am Canadian. Some Canadians are indoctrinated by government subsidized media and are totally ignorant of reality.
The many good Canadians reading this post or even remotely aware of the coming circumstances have very difficult decisions to make in order to prepare for their survival of the economic catastrophe forthcoming for Canada. Only by the grace of God did the USA have a reprieve from our own total destruction with the return of President Trump to office so we sympathize with the many good Canadian Treepers. A plan on what is necessary action for your survival is needed.
The decisions are not difficult. They need to use common sense, which is easy. We did it. President Trump has been telling Canada the same things he’s been saying here in America. Common sense in decisions. If they make Canada great they will be making a common sense decision.
The only thing we did that mattered is pray for a reprieve. We really did escape the same fate for a little. But make no mistake: each change in national leadership risks disaster, and if the USA fails there is no long term market for much of what the world or USA produces-we won’t be able to buy it.
There is no indication that Canada is going to self-correct so the MAIN DIFFICULT DECISION for many would be whether they should leave Canada because to stay might mean total financial destruction for them and their families.
Such a decision is not based on common sense; it’s based on hard core financial data and whether one can survive if they can’t afford winter heating bills, or no heat at all due to failure of windmills and solar energy; or the fact that the food chain could be so disrupted that food shortages occur.

During my nine years as a supply tech (logistics) in the military and working with McDonald Aircraft when we rec’d our first CF-18s we were so proud to be deeply involved with the US working hand in hand. I moved to Canada 30 years ago from England because I didn’t like what Miranda (Tony Blair) was about to enact. Turns out I totally underestimated the carnage to follow.
I wish I could move to America now. I’ve explored it but sadly I don’t qualify. No way I’m ever going back to old Blighty so my goal is to move from here in ON to AB asap, funds permitting. The best of a bad job.

The issues are lack of formal education and age. I do have an almost unique skill-set which my potential US employer needs (in a very narrow niche in Waste-to-Energy), but I left education early to start my first company rather than get a University degree.
Add that lack to my age being >65 and I’m not attractive enough economically. Which is fair enough tbh.
30 years ago when I came to Canada it cost me $10k and 4 years of legal activity to get Landed Immigrant status, and that’s with having a work permit already (due to a different skill-set in the new e-comms sector). But again, fair enough. Back then Canada had a highly selective immigration policy which really did allow only the best and the brightest. I wasn’t that on paper, only by experience, hence the time and cost.
But I’ve created a few jobs here and paid a sh*t ton of taxes so I feel like we’re quits. 😉
It’s just that Canada’s morphed into what I feared England would (and already has).

After reading many of the posted comments, my observation is that since WWI, most other countries have benefited in many ways just because America exists.
The world would look much different if America did not exist. That was true in WWI, and it’s even more true today.
It’s not just because they benefit from our government (our taxes) in some way or another; they also benefit from the general goodness of our religious institutions, our colleges and universities, and our business organizations.
IMO, they are users. They have been using America for well over 100 years.
Meanwhile, many of them take our help and scorn us.
If I were running the show right now, I would stop all government foreign aid and urge American businesses to do the same.

Some Canadians always hated us. I remember the time 20 or so years ago when I was driving in Quebec as a tourist and asked for directions at a gas station.
They deliberately gave me the wrong directions, opposite of where I wanted to go.

The problem is, a country’s population perspectives is a product of their lived environment and information access. If you have lived a certain way all of your life and have only the your every day experience to inform you, then that is the scope of your awareness and belief system.

One can only hope cooler heads prevail for the sake of the Canadian people. I have only visited Canada briefly on a business trip and the people I met were really pleasant people whom I liked a great deal.

Those comments at the YT Video remind me of an abuser who insults and punches you while telling you that they don’t need you and you’ve never had it so good being in their presence. If they are so great and you are so awful then why is the abuser so angry that you are walking away and be rid of you?

In the CBC website the day after President Trump said he did not intend to keep the USMCA, the article said that of course that was not what was going to really happen. Trump and his team would request a few changes to the agreement and the agreement would remain in place. Nothing to worry about. The entire premise was so off key, as if they felt it would require Canada to just tweak soft wood lumber quotas, and they would be free to retain the $60 billion trade surplus with the good old USA, no problem. Wow.

SPouse and I lived in Australia for a few years in the 90s. Job related. We lived in Melbourne.
Obviously every time we opened our mouth our accent identified us an “not Australian”. What was curious is that almost without exception, the person we were talking to would ask us if we were Canadian (we have a classic “neutral” Midwest accent BTW).
After a few months of this, I asked an Australian colleague why this was! He laughed and said:
”We’ve learned that if we ask a Canadian if they were American, they got mad. But Americans never care if asked if they are Canadian!”
I laughed 😎 . But I think it reveals something about the Canadian psyche……my theory is they have a huge inferiority complex!
