President Trump is traveling to Beijing, China this week on May 14th and 15th. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent left the U.S. earlier today for advance discussion with Chinese intermediaries.
National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett appears on Fox News to discuss the current status of the economy and the strong internal investment that is now frontloading a manufacturing surge. As noted by Hassett one of the reasons the first quarter GDP was lower than expected was the amount of capital equipment imported to start a resurgence of the U.S. manufacturing base. WATCH:

Love Kevin!!!
Martin Armstrong is not as happy with Kevin Hassett’s and the other sleep walker’s rosy reflections on the way things are…… The Middle East crisis is not a joke. It is a clear and present danger. The time to get it behind us is quickly running out.
All the cables that connect the banking system from the East to the West run through the Strait of Hormuz. . .. People look at the Middle East and think they are flush with cash. They have no idea they are in a debt crisis. Iran understands this–attacking the refineries and the infrastructure of the Gulf States. What happens? You cut off their ability to sell oil. That creates a debt crisis. . .. Iran bombed UAE more than Israel. . ..
Washinton does not grasp this. I have yelled at them, and I think it goes in one ear and out the other. This is much more serious, and if they succeed in creating a debt crisis, that will filter into the banks. Then the banks start getting into trouble. This does more than send oil up and put pressure economically on Europe and the United States. This is the key to a banking crisis.”
Armstrong says this Iran war will last the rest of 2026, and gasoline prices in the US could hit $9 a gallon. Armstrong says, “We are at a point where governments collapse. . .. What we are facing is a sovereign debt crisis globally. International debt reached $353 trillion last month. It doesn’t stop. They don’t pay off debt. They just roll it over. This will come to a crisis because interest payments keep rising. Our interest expenditure exceeds military.”

Here’s a little fyi for ya, he’s not a great predictor, the sky isn’t falling yet…..
A 2026 analysis highlights a pattern where Armstrong identifies structural economic fractures but often predicts apocalyptic scenarios that do not occur, with significant misses including:
His Economic Confidence Model, which relies on an 8.6-year cycle derived from $\pi \times 1000$ days, is criticized by mainstream economists as numerological and lacking empirical rigor, though it retains a niche following among contrarian investors.
Thank you for the clear-eyed reply. He is always crying wolf. He may be right at some point—but he is typically wrong—tremendously wrong. But, he is good clickbait.
My prediction, he is tremendously wrong—yet again.
The point where he might, inadvertently be correct, is that the NWO and the British/Rockerfeller control could be collapsing, as Sundance pointed out. Which is exactly what 47 would like to see. It would be tremendous for nations to be sovereign again.
The Prometheans and Tom Luongo are of the opinion that the British have been kicked out of the arrangement where London set the interest rates for the US$ and the global central banking system using LIBOR. LIBOR was phased out last July and SIBOR (IIRC the name) is in force today. This puts the rate setting squarely in the US where it belongs since the US$ is the reserve currency. Previously, Europe was generating some US$ and London controlled the rates.
This does not mean that the Rockerfellers no longer hold sway over the world and US economy. They are Americans that work for the Rothschilds (Europeans). Jewish American Miriam Adelson finances Trump. Trump may set the US up for life without the Rockerfellers running things – watch how far RFK Jr is able to change American medicine. But, this is not a given, because the next POTUS may be a Rockerfeller choice. Another tell will be what happens with NATO and our article 5 arrangements.
Agree, however, on Armstrong, his cycle theories encoded in his computer are not always correct. They are clearly numerological and he is always crying wolf. They put him in prison because he was a grifter and I think he still is a grifter. I don’t believe he has offices all over the world and is regularly consulted by world leaders. There is no way to fact check him on this stuff.
I listen to him when he is on Greg Hunter’s channel. But, Greg tends to believe everybody. I like Greg and he has some great guests and does a good job interviewing. However, I do not consider Greg a capable bull excrement detector.
So, read Martin with a grain of salt. He makes some good points from time to time and has a unique view of geopolitics. Sundance totally outclasses him.
Sundance has not been wrong about anyone since I started reading him in 2016. First, his take on DeSantis surprised me, then, his take on Pam Bondi. Sundance’s litmus test for people is much, much better than mine. Oh, I like Bannon’s stuff too, but he is a notoriously poor judge of people.
good action
Faith in PDJT is all it takes…..well, plus a li’l bit of action and Lord knows that PDJT is BIG on action.✝️😉 🇺🇲
Lord watch and protect our Great American President Donald J Trump and his team as they “Enter the Dragon’s lair. Keep them and bring them home to their country the USA and their families.
Amen!
Amen
Amen! Really wish President Trump was not venturing to China.
That’s my “brass balls” POTUS!
Amen x 1,000
what I find endlessly fascinating is how Trump knows all this stuff….. how to know the issues within China, Iran, Canada, Mexico, Mayalsia, Russia, Ukraine, Britain….. and then how to figure out how that translates into leverage for him…… and how to use the leverage
I continue to believe that he is a singular figure in the political world. NO ONE else, certainly no current Dem or GOPe, could have the command of the issues and the stature to walk into any room and own it.
Possibly not even Mark Carney!! / sarc
“what I find endlessly fascinating is how Trump knows all this stuff….. how to know the issues within China, Iran, Canada, Mexico, Mayalsia, Russia, Ukraine, Britain….. and then how to figure out how that translates into leverage for him…… and how to use the leverage”
He knows these things because he has been studying these issues since he was a young man starting out in the world of real estate development. He recognizes the problems and made a promise to himself that if government can’t, or won’t correct these issues, that someday he would step into government and tackle things himself. Years later, and here we are.
President Trump knows not to trust our IC and “economic experts”.
Yes, if you knew nothing about the situation, I suspect that you would have a good record by being a contrarian and doing the exact opposite of these clowns.
Experience . . you can’t learn on the job to be a good President, and certainly not a great one.
All the great ones already know what they want to do through experience.
And I agree with you, President Trump’s background in Experience is singular!
I think it is Providential!
Absolutely!
It is not only what he knows, but his ability to time everything in the correct march order for the maximum effect; the mark of a great strategist.
Why go to a country that directly kills upwards of 100.000+ Americans every year from fentanyl ?
Why go to a country that was involved in the massive spread of a bio weapon upon this world ?
Why go to a country that has helped Iran and more than likely set off an explosion under the bridge of Americas in Panama after they were removed from control of the Canal.
China should be suffocated of all global supplies and ALL their spies removed from U.S. educational facilities.
Why? Because the only way to get the dragon’s full attention is to march right into its lair and let it know that you are not intimidated by it.
I like your comment.
I just hope he makes it back home.
Americans and big biz are heap big involved with all tha business entering this country. I believe pre Xox came here last month? Why, open lines, Ongoing discussions without pretending.
I’m sure someone a lot smarter than you decided it best to talk to them rather than bomb them. SMH
if you removed all Chinese spies from educational facilities, you wouldn’t have any professors, teaching assistants, administrators, researchers, or most of the students.
O no! Jobs for Americans then! 😉
Felix you are probably correct. So let’s get started then. ASAP. What are we waiting for?

the enemy or my enemy is my friend…..keep your friends close and enemies even closer……just a few thoughts
Ah one of my favorite people. Glad to see Kevin and Maria is always enjoyable to watch as well. Sounds like we got a go in MAGA.
If the democrats hadn’t stolen all our taxpayer money, how farther ahead would we have been?
You can thank LBJ and his Great Society plan for that.
He was awful.
Johnson, a Texan?, was embarrassing.
Yep. He himself knew how the populace felt about him. That’s why his grave is surrounded by a fence a good distance from the grave itself.
Not the only embarrassing politician hailing from Texas. Cornyn, shrub (who I enthusiastically supported I have admit).
Agree! Pride in Self; Abandoning responsibility; The ruin of so many.
If President Trump didn’t get back in office what would have happened?
Civil war…
Doubt it…. folks have had it too easy… too few with spine.
So proud of President Trump and his strong leaders in his cabinet.
Great job!
MAGA
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent heading to Tokyo and Seoul for meetings with the two countries financial leaders plus PM Takaichi before heading to Peking.

I listened to this interview without watching.
Is it my imagination, or did it seem that while talking about gasoline prices and the putative timeline for coming down, Kevin didn’t sound as assured as he normally does. I’m not quite to sure how to describe his tone, but there seemed to be cautious hesitancy to his answer.
My first thought is – have you often listened without watching? His facial expressions are a fair part of his messaging. Perhaps the difference is what leads to the impression?
Second one is that there is an understandable concern of people’s expectations versus reality. In general, patience isn’t something the public at large seems to have a lot of.
One can tell much I find by listening, not distracted by watching. And I find when I do that I listen more intently. The slight pauses, the careful wording etc.
You are right, Harrison, about patience…
In this age of short attention spans and instant gratification, there is not a whole lot of it.
I am not keen on this trip. Is there not some neutral ground, like a non contested island in the pacific?
I’ve been thinking the same thing for a while now. I sure hope the President has more robust security than he had at that media dinner.
If the ChiComms did something to him, most of the world would celebrate, including more than half of our own population. I hear people say all the time that they “hope he dies”. Translation is, they hope someone kills him. Welcome to 2026 USA. Next stop, America’s Red Army gestapos…..
I honestly think we would tip right into a civil war. It would be ugly.
Little Rocket Man might have had a good idea: “North Korea has changed its constitution so its military is required to launch a retaliatory nuclear strike if Kim Jong-un is assassinated by a foreign adversary.”
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2026/05/08/north-korean-nuclear-retaliation-if-kim-jong-un-killed/
You need to get off that deserted island you live on, when you start believing those voices in your head,
“including more than [half of our own population.] I hear people say all the time that they “hope he dies”. Translation is, they hope someone kills him”
I am of the thinking that Trump will be safer in China than he is in the US. If you think about it, the last thing China wants is a world leader assassinated in their country.
How about if they meet in an empty parking lot in Switzerland?
If I watched corporate media this is not what you would hear. My guess completely opposite.
Would President Trump’s trip to Beijing have motivated Canada’s Carney to suddenly change his stance as it pertains to integrating the Canadian economy to the American economy. Not too long ago, Carney wasn’t interested.

The Chinese communists sell human organs they steal from people that are alive. Therefore, wouldn’t it be charming of Trump to greet Xi Jinping with the following request: “Xi, can you sell me two kidneys and one liver?” Trump slaps his knee and guffaws, “Just kidding Xi, my friend.”
The current status of the US economy? Depends on your lens.

They see little green men there also, your link.
I do not believe President Trump going to China is a wise move right now. China has their backs against the wall and are capable of doing stupid things, desperate things, and President Trump should not expose himself to such threats especially with the incompetent Secret Service he has “protecting “him. He and “Winnie” should meet in a neutral location, like Guam, or Fort Bragg because I do NOT trust the Chinese. They, like Iranian leadership, have no honor. Their word is as worthless as the Iranians. It is almost pointless to even have a meeting. Everything that needs to be said has been and anything extra can be done over the phone in about ten minutes.
