U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the Israel-Lebanon talks in Washington as a historic opportunity, with Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter and Lebanese Ambassador Nada Hamadeh Moawad attending. The meeting focuses on moving forward amid complex regional tensions and a fragile Middle East ceasefire. WATCH:
[TRANSCRIPT] QUESTION: Mr. Secretary, why did you decide to join? Is it a signal that the U.S. is fully engaged?
QUESTION: Can we see a ceasefire soon between Lebanon and Israel?
QUESTION: Secretary —
SECRETARY RUBIO: “May I please? Thank you very much. Thank you for being here today. We’re very honored to be joined by two countries that the United States wants to have strong – have strong relations with, and we’re obviously very happy to serve in this facilitating role.”
“This is a historic opportunity. We understand we’re working against decades of history and complexities that have led us to this unique moment. And the opportunity here – I know some of you were shouting questions about a ceasefire. This is a lot more than just about that. This is about bringing a permanent end to 20 or 30 years of Hizballah’s influence in this part of the world and the – not just the damage that it’s inflicted on Israel, the damage that it’s inflicted on the Lebanese people. We have to remember the Lebanese people are victims of Hizballah. The Lebanese people are victims of Iranian aggression. And this needs to stop.
And so our hope here – and I know this will be a process, okay? This – all of the complexities of this matter are not going to be resolved in the next six hours. But we can begin to move forward to create the framework where something can happen – something very positive, something very permanent – so that the people of Lebanon can have the kind of future they deserve, and so that the people of Israel can live without fear of being struck by rocket attacks from a terrorist proxy of Iran.
So that is the hope here today. That is what we are beginning to work. We are joined by excellent people who will be in a position to obviously take this back to their respective capitals. This is a process, not an event. This is more than just one day. This will take time. But we believe it’s worth this endeavor, and it’s a historic gathering that we hope to build on, and the hope today is that we can outline the framework upon which a permanent and lasting peace can be developed so that, as I said, the people of Israel can live in peace, and the people of Lebanon can live not just in peace but the prosperity and security that they deserve.
Okay? Thank you.”

Israel does not want peace.
As opposed to those peace loving Mooslims.
Do you people see Jews in your alpha boys cereal also.
mmm… Frosted Fuhrer Flakes, mom!
There were reports that Hitler suffered from many digestive problems-diarrhea and constipation (presumably on different days), intestinal spasms and uncontrollable flatulence (I’ll bet he was fun on a date).
Frosted Fuhrer Flakes might have calmed down all that gut turmoil.
Uh dude, both things can be true. Israel doesn’t want peace. And neither do their enemies. It’s not “one or the other”.
It’s not 3rd grade math where two wrongs make a right!
But three lefts equal a right…
Your right.
And the sooner we decouple our country from Israel, the better for America.
If the fighting stops then Benny’s corruption trial restarts, can’t have that, it’s there some other country that can’t have an election because of fighting???
Have you lost your marbles?
How many missiles should Israel allow Hezbollah to fire at them from Lebanon?
SM, there’s no accounting for a lack of history and flat out ignorance.
We are still in the Easter Season and Jesus is a Jew.
We must forgive their ignorance.
LOL!
Yep, it’ll be a great day for the world when the Israelis are forced to use their nuclear weapons.
Utterly ludicrous comment. A nation and people that practice hard, play hardball and live in a very dangerous neighborhood. The achievements in the sciences alone make Israel and the Jewish people a blessing to the western world. The Jewish peoples history is of a people fully understanding what weakness and lack of competitiveness brings upon oneselves. They’re successful and strong willed looking out for their interests as should we. Always bagging on Israel demonstrates those that can’t fathom competition when your very existence is at stake.
Not to mention that Jesus Christ was a Jewish carpenter.
Or that this Jewish carpenter (who also happened to be the Son of God), willingly died on a cross and was raised from the dead in the final victory over sin and death.
Well said. Only quibble I have with what you wrote is the contributions the Jewish people have made are a blessing to the entire world not just us who live in the west.
I would like to add if I may that I have many Lebanese friends as well, each one of whom I have gotten to know following their emigration from Lebanon following the civil war. They too are wonderful people. Hopefully we are on the path to elimination of the terrorist threat that has hurt their country as much as it has harmed Israel.
Thank you for reminding us that the battle in Lebanon is not with the Lebanese people. The battle is against Hezbollah.
Once again-Islamic terrorism tied to Iran.
Jett, right the F on!!!!!
Islamistheproblem
YES!
The Israeli people-the Jews-want peace very badly.
There are factions within the Israeli government who do not want peace. They seek war to gain power and wealth.
Look at the above two paragraphs and change “Israeli” to “American.” The two paragraphs would still be true statements.
I’m quite sure that the same could be said of Lebanon.
My point—why do critics of your ilk always hammer on Israel, as if they alone are guilty? Do you have evidence that Israel alone is guilty of these sins?
Or do you just hate Jews?
Yes.
True.
The people there love their country, hate their government.
That was told to me many times while there.
That sounds a lot like red, white and blue Americans.
Thank you.
Like the rest of us.
all those without the Holy Spirit will hate anything to do with Israel the Jewish people more than likely they will hate God himself.
Exactly right. Almighty God purposely established the Jewish race through Abraham and made a sacred covenant with them.
God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be born as a Jewish baby, to teach concerning the Kingdom of God, to be crucified on a cross, and to be raised from the dead on the third day.
He is risen!
Jesus told His disciples that He would send the Holy Spirit to be with them (and us) to guide and direct us on our faith journey.
Satan is the eternal enemy of Jesus Christ. All those who haven’t accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior (and by definition, not being indwelt by the Holy Spirit) will follow Satan as enemies of Christ.
The birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ together are the link between Jews and Christians-and the path to salvation.
All of that is a long way of saying that Yes-you are right. Those without the Holy Spirit will naturally hate the Jews, and Christians, and Almighty God Himself.
Sure sounds like it. His hate is apparent.
Remember when Lebanon was a Christian country?
Was there peace with Israel then?
Exactly right! Islam (together with its moronic cousin Nazism) is the common denominator in all conflict with Israel today.
Contrary to what simpletons like Barack Hussein Obama and George W. Bush have said, Islam is a political ideology pretending to be a (false) religion. It is not peaceful in any way. Islam is a cult dedicated to death and destruction.
If Islam were to be magically erased from the earth, death rates from violence would plummet worldwide.
And then we would be free to focus on the “Democrat Problem.”
I like to see those who have done their homework. My guess is you’ve read the Quran a little bit. Just my opinion, but I think those who talk about hating the Jewish people or how good the Muslims are have never read either book. Therefore, it makes them 100% foolish as they know nothing. Mostly people get their information from listening to others. And this in itself is not a terrible thing. One should, however, do a bit of research on their own to determine what the truth is. The first time I read the Bible, every bit of it made sense that so many lies in this world prevail in our school Systems academia our news it made sense that Satan is the god of this world currently. Someday Jesus shall return every knee will bend. God bless you, brother.
God bless you Arcticman.
Truthfully, I have barely skimmed the Quran-reading pieces and parts of it over the years.
As I near The Glorious Day of Retirement, one of my goals is to actually study the Quran to increase the depth of my knowledge of Islam.
As it is, the Words of Jesus have greatly helped me when He said, “You will know them by their fruit.”
“Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” are deeply comforting words as well.
God bless you brother.
I have asked 3 muslim doctors (separately): “Is it true that if you leave Islam you will be killed?” Each said “yes”. Think about that. They are all captives.
For every legitimate criticism of Israel there are three reasons for the destruction of Islamist states.
Amen and amen!
Yes 👍
IsraelDerangementSyndrome
Have they ever had the opportunity to have peace in the sense we here in the US have it- meaning a time when their adversaries fully left them alone? I have grave misgivings about how the Israeli government handles things, but it really isn’t surprising.
Lebanon was Israel’s buffer on it’s Northern border and a good friend. Initially Lebanon was a French Colony and predominantly Christian. Little by little Lebanon was infiltrated by Muslims and a civil war broke out between the two religious groups. Beirut which was called the Paris of the Middle East became a war zone…and here we are today. The Lebanese would have been much better off remaining under French control.
Is that you Tucker?
Israel doesn’t missilse fired at its civillian population from Lebanon. And a lot od Lebanese may be tired of being human shields for Hizbollah.
Secretary Rubio brings a sincere gravitas, confidence, and purpose to his meetings, no matter with whom he is dealing. A man of great faith who speaks of it often and with intensity.
An inspired choice by President Trump for Secretary of State.
Something which when he was appointed I could never hear myself saying.
“Little” Marco no longer.
Marco, if he’s honest and apolitical, has changed his spots
Spot on… 🙂
That was low-hanging fruit. still, you were the first. 🙂
<That was low-hanging fruit. still, you were the first>
Thanks! But enough about Buttigieg 🙂
That’s below the belt!!!!
Another belt comment gone to waist 🙂
Clap off!
I don’t know, Lawrence…
I’ve given your comment a lot of thought before answering.
Who knows a man’s heart….I mean truly knows…except his Maker? I’ve listened to remarks he has made on many occasions which are little covered, if at all; and what I hear is Marco full of faith, belief, and conviction. Something (the intensity I spoke of) which never varies. Perhaps that’s why the media never covers them.
But if…if….he has “changed his spots”, I am reminded of something I read long ago which has stuck with me.
“Coming after me because of my previous life is like searching for me at my old house…I don’t live there anymore.”
Perhaps he has changed his views. If so, perhaps because of conversations with President Trump during his interview for the position he holds. Perhaps he has been given new insight. Or maybe he has had a Damascene moment. No one knows. No one can know.
But wherever he has been, it appears that he is not there now. Something I believe most of us of a certain age would understand, if we are honest with ourselves.
Again, something I never thought I’d say…
In my estimation, the most consequential Secretary of State this nation has ever had at a time when such a person was desperately needed.
God bless and keep him.
“Coming after me because of my previous life is like searching for me at my old house…I don’t live there anymore.”
Brilliant!
I happen to be a person “of a certain age.” What you say is true.
Thank you!
And you as well for your willingness to reassess your position.
We can simply look at the fruit he bears from the work he does this way we will know whose site is on. He also claims in public that Jesus Christ is his Lord and Savior. It is impossible for an unbeliever to come out in the public and do this, they will use some variation, but it will not be Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. It will be something like Obama my faith and God is strong. Well, we just need to understand which God he’s talking about. I love your comments. Keep up the good work.
Over and over he says it. And with all the certitude of someone is unashamed to do so. A man at peace.
(I believe Obama’s god is lower case, Arcticman. Obama is a believer in nothing but himself.)
Blooming where he is planted!
Yes indeed, my respect and admiration have grown immensely. He would make a terrific Pres after Trump!
Best SOS I ever read about since the 1970s. Kissinger gets the fake news award, but Rubio blows Henry away.
Lebanon cannot guarantee a peace since it does not control its own country.
Exactly. Israel has not been fighting Lebanon. It has been fighting Hezbollah! Until Hezbollah is taken out of the picture the Lebanese people will never actually govern themselves.
Hezbollah is supported and controlled by … Iran!!!
How much of those billions of dollars on pallets that obama sent to Iran ended up with Hezbull💩???
But now is a new day. The mullahs and IRGC are busy with other matters. Additionally, their money supply is no longer working. 😁
Rats, snakes and other vermin have a tendency to go “underground” when death or extinction comes calling. Hide out until the “heat” calms down, or it’s safe to re-appear is a reality for those who are being hunted.
For the victor the word is “stay vigilant.”
My question still remains: If Islam is a “religion of peace” when/where do we see it being practiced? Their so called spiritual leaders don’t seem to come before media to demonstrate such a reality, or am I the one who is blind here?
Islam has bloody borders.

It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”–Isaiah 55
Johnny Enlow:
“It was Rome that begat London which begat Washington DC. Let me explain that. Those three cities have been presented to us before and others as well as those that have worked together as the Deep State cities of the world. Three independent cities; the Vatican is not really Italy. DC is not really United States. London City itself has its own charter, its own laws and they have been operating on their own. And the three of these togethers have formed the ruling evil dictatorship of the world. And again, that is Rome, London, Washington DC. It is not Jerusalem. It’s not Tel Aviv. It’s not Israel. You’ve been thrown off because there’s a couple Jewish names in there. Most strongly the Rothschild name, but there are names that we’re going to get to in just a moment. Just understand these three cities were the anti-Christ Mafia of control of the world and not the things that are being scapegoated now.” …….
Isaiah 45
13 I will raise up Cyrus in my righteousness:
I will make all his ways straight.
He will rebuild my city
and set my exiles free,
but not for a price or reward,
says the Lord Almighty.”
Isaiah 46
Gods of Babylon
11 From the east I summon a bird of prey;
from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose.
What I have said, that I will bring about;
what I have planned, that I will do.
Isaiah 47
The Fall of Babylon
10 You have trusted in your wickedness
and have said, ‘No one sees me.’
Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you
when you say to yourself,
‘I am, and there is none besides me.’
11 Disaster will come upon you,
and you will not know how to conjure it away.
A calamity will fall upon you
that you cannot ward off with a ransom;
a catastrophe you cannot foresee
will suddenly come upon you.

Lucifer aka the whore of Babylon runs the world… she’ll find as many proxies as possible to keep her grip on the world’s kingdoms including The United States of America, Inc (those Isiah quotes are, in context, directed toward backsliding 7th century BC the divided Judah and Isreal kingdoms
They are History… and Destiny.
“Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.”
– Matthew 5:9
Secretary Rubio is right about one thing, the people of Lebanon deserve better than being held hostage to a radical Islamic death cult and its fanatical hatred of Israel. Lebanon used to be the Switzerland of the Middle East, a prosperous, forward looking country. But now, after decades of radical Muslim infiltration, it’s a bombed out basket case, which would be a textbook lesson for Europe if its leaders weren’t purposefully bent on the destruction of European culture..
But now, with Iran reeling from weeks of U.S. – Israeli assault, and Hezbollah being pounded by Israel, is the time to pry the hands of the Shia Islamic death cult from around the throats of the Lebanese people. Forget Erdogan’s puerile threats, he knows that Turkey is not ready to take on Israel. Now is the time to change the course of a country for the better and I pray to God that both Lebanon and Israel will come to know whatever peace that might be cobbled together from these efforts, even for a short time.

How can there ever be a peace when there are doomers like these early posters already destroying the possibility of peace by their rhetoric?
Remember the recent peace accords already achieved. Same people were saying it would never happen. We now have ME countries working with us and Israel in the Epic Fury project.
Yes when God hands us a miracle we must show appreciation by continuing to build on the gift He has given us.
We have no idea what`s for dinner. Much like the events of the USS Liberty.
This is what leadership looks like. Peace starts with a willingness to talk. Reminder, did Anthony Blinken host talks like these or just post on X?
Tony Wyinken Blynken and Nod is a fool. It’s good to have some adults in charge now.
Every day, President Trump makes the world a better place.
Every morning I wake up, eager to see what happened overnight! We are so blessed to be living now to see what real leaders and those who surround them are doing. Amazing!
Every time we see Secretary Rubio in these settings he is always calm, cool, collected and completely in charge.
I never liked Mr. Rubio before, and I was always suspicious of Tulsi Gabbard.
Now look at them! They are clearly the co-MVP’s of President Trump’s Cabinet.
May God continue to bless and protect them.
Rubio is a treasure. Really puts a shine on Trump’s administration.
It’s all about freedom with President Trump.
Secretary Rubio has the freedom to do his job.
More indicators that the region is preparing itself for a post-IRGC regime.
