We need Greenland more than we need NATO. None of the other NATO countries will be able to support an armed attack on one of its members despite ties of long standing. They can’t even keep their security establishments to just merely defend their way of life. Would they continue to pay their bills for collective defence?

limits on treaty withdrawal, invoke presidential authority over foreign policy.
Doubt any party has legal standing to challenge it in court. Plausible plaintiff being Congress itself with Republicans in control of Senate, political support for such a lawsuit is not assured. There would be a constitutional confrontation between Executive vs Congress while the courts preside as referee.

The President could seek to use this argument legitimately. The President could frame NATO’s withdrawal as necessary for national defense, citing broad Commander-in-Chief authority (Article II, Section 2).

But still, given the National Defense Authorization Act of 2024 (Marco what do you say?), if PDJT were to pull the U.S. out of NATO, it would be far from easy and there could well be legal fallout.
Due to the Supreme Court often ruling in favor of the Trump Administration, Congress may find it difficult
to win against him in the courts.
But legal backlash could stem from elsewhere. If there are contractors with NATO that could lose money from the U.S. withdrawal, that would be an economic injury that would potentially give them a standing to sue.
Despite the President having options, the legalities involved are, at best, murky.
Then; again, there’s always the Trump that surprise many on many other things.
Another factor to consider is that while things are in limbo, as you correctly hinted at, for YEARS with our inept Congress and the courts, the world (and us) moves on. And in this case, that’s a good thing.

NATO should have dissolved the moment the Soviet Union disbanded. There is no real justification for it to exist anymore, other than antagonizing Russia with continuous encroachment upon Russian sovereignty, and if the United States left it would fall apart in short order.
