A game of pretending is needed in order to retain the illusion of the Potemkin Village of DC. A construct manufactured by the power structure that exists behind the puppet show, with the full intention to distract us. Pretending is what gives rise to a Florida governor on a 2022 ‘book tour’ run for a 2024 campaign that everyone denied was going to happen. Pretending is also what kicks the can of accountability away until it can be buried.
Pretending is needed in order to convince the audience Republicans will make a difference, or the black eye doesn’t hurt and look he bought me flowers. Perhaps some reminders and clarifications of the real game inside DC politics are needed. After all, while all these chaff and countermeasures are replaying their familiar tunes, CTH is actually trying to accomplish something by destroying some IC silos.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, hereafter called the House Oversight Committee or HOC, has a very specific function in DC circles that too few understand. Once again, let us be clear while trying to explain decades of false information founded upon arcane legislative outlooks.
Understanding the DC game of Chaff and Countermeasures…. A “Countermeasure” is a measure or action taken to counter or offset a preceding one.
Politically speaking, the deployment of countermeasures is a well-used tactic by professional politicians in Washington DC to counter incoming public inquiry and protect themselves from anger expressed by the electorate. The Republican leadership are very skilled in the management of “chaff” (outrage), and “countermeasures” (the distraction).
Within Washington DC, the HOC has a very specific and unique function. What Fox News is to corporate conservative punditry, so too is the HOC to the same DC system of pretending. The House Oversight Committee is the “Chaff and Countermeasures” committee.
The HOC operates for both parties with the same mission.
The House Oversight Committee was/is created by the House legislative leadership to make money for the party in control of the Chair. When the House Speaker is notified of a DC corruption issue, inside his/her office they will often be heard saying, “give it to oversight.” The intent of that instruction is to give the issue to the HOC, so they can hold hearings, create soundbites and fundraise from the issue.
Making money for the party in control of the Chair is the primary function of the House Oversight Committee. The HOC does not exist to create accountability or oversight; the HOC exists to exploit the issue for fundraising and satiate the base voters of the party in control of the Chair.
The HOC presents the illusion of accountability by constructing soundbites and member performances which are then broadcast on television for appearances to the voting audience. It is essentially theater.
The HOC is a “general oversight’ committee, not a committee of “specific jurisdiction.” Thus, the HOC is the vehicle where Democrats and Republicans publicly display their political initiatives, frame their narratives and then broadcast them on MSNBC, CNN (Democrats) or FOX NEWS (Republicans).
Depending on the issues at hand, the HOC committee members are generally those performance actors best known to the audience of both parties. This is not accidental; this is by design. Again, for emphasis, I am only talking about the HOC, a “generalized oversight” committee. Only this specific committee has this specific mission.
A hot button topic enters the committee ecosphere. Specifically trained staffers and performance artists, uniquely qualified to put on theatrical productions (both parties), are then deployed to assist the representatives in creating the soundbites that hopefully will go viral and assist them with fundraising and opportunities to say, “here’s what we are doing.” Outlining this construct is not an exhibition in cynicism; this is the reality of what the HOC is designed and created to do.
When you see the HOC performing at their best, you will see lots of soundbites created.
The Chair of the HOC is always part of the House Speaker’s close inner circle. From that association you will discover by training, by habit, and by consequence, the HOC framework is developed to sustain the process itself as an end result. The questioning is the sum total of all accountabilities. The performance is the interview; the conversation is the point; the smoke is the fire.
Oversight, in the HOC framework of narrative creation, has evolved into reveling in the endless process (a fundraising proposition) and, as a consequence, it completely ignores the end point, misses the bottom line, doesn’t actually SEE the subject matter, and never actually applies accountability toward what might be discovered. This is why you end up with high blood pressure, frustrated with the questions not asked, and throwing bricks at the screen or monitors when viewing.
The point of HOC hearings is to create what are now described as “viral moments” that can be used to generate money.
The second, and lesser objective, is to give the illusion of accountability while not actually ever holding anyone or anything accountable. See prior HOC reference points like Fast and Furious, IRS targeting, Benghazi, the Twitter File review or the Joe/Hunter Biden crime syndicate investigation.
If you watch the HOC through the prism of expecting some form of accountability for the violations of law, you will be frustrated and disappointed. However, if you watch the HOC through the prism of how well the members will do at raising money from their performances, then you can evaluate the effectiveness – the proverbial winning and losing.
The HOC is designed by House leadership to perform the same basic function for both Democrats and Republicans. The HOC committee assignments are selected based on the theatrical skills of each representative. This is not to say the motives of the members are sullied or impure, it is simply to point out the motive of the committee itself is to generate fundraising from the skillsets of the members on the committee.
Once you fully grasp what the intent of the House Oversight Committee is about, and once you drop the expectation that any accountability in oversight is the intent, then you can watch the performances through the entertainment prism of partisan politics and genuinely enjoy them – or hate them.
The HOC is called the “Chaff and Countermeasures” Committee, because that’s essentially what the committee does. It gives the appearance of targeting, steering the target to a controlled destination, and then distracting the audience from the outcome of accountability.
If sunlight is achieved, meaning the Mainstream Media cannot ignore the issue as presented and questioned, and if the general public become more familiar with the controversial subject matter or topic at hand, and if the party of the Chair can fundraise from the issue, then the committee has succeeded. However, if you are looking for something to change as an outcome of any HOC investigation or hearing, you will be perpetually disappointed.
There seems to be a willful blindness on the part of the American people, a chosen refusal to acknowledge the implications of the unAmerican and unConstititional behaviors, actions and outcomes we are being served on a daily basis. It can no longer be presumed to be a matter of “I can’t see what’s happening”, because a whole lot of normal Americans really are clean and articulate.

There is currently no formal investigation by the Department of Justice (DOJ) against Ilhan Omar for immigration fraud. However, President Trump has publicly stated that the DOJ is looking at Omar’s rapid substantial increase in her reported wealth as part of the ongoing investigations into fraud in Minnesota.
She’ll likely skate free of all the serious crimes that she is alleged of having committed, crimes that would land any everyday ordinary citizen in prison for a long time, and become much wealthier from this country that she is frequently accused of despising.

Likewise, the corruptors who hold power also experience two paradigm shifts: a change in leadership and then a ENHANCED purpose to contain losses, and embrace the most cruel and demonstrative wicked purposed to punish everyone and especially the champion of the revolution. Stage 6 – REIGN OF TERROR. The winner of a revolution will always act brutally toward the defeated adversary. Always. This is the nature of revolutionary war. It is not a pleasant stage. In many ways, this is the stage that actually determines the legitimacy of the winner of a revolution. Too much brutality and moral authority is lost and never recovered. Too much mercy and the enemy has no fear to rise up again and attempt insurrection. Traitors ON BOTH SIDES will be subjects of the most cruel persecutions for their seditious actions. Understand this clearly…those NOT aligned to the new revolutionary cause who act against it, will be targets of very unfavorable action. And likewise, anarchists will be dealt with swiftly with little mercy. Former regime leadership will be targeted and tried with street justice and made examples of. And this will continue even in formal court proceedings. Massive wealth transfer will occur. Economic stability will be hard to achieve during this period of time. (again, we are not even close to this stage…but understand this WILL happen in a revolutionary war)
Stage 7 – THERMIDORIAN REACTION – this is a post revolutionary war period that ends the “fever of revolution”. This is also the most delicate period of all stages. Thrust onto the stage will often be a strong leader who can and does bring the country back to stability and on a path for normalcy. But also, history has proven many times, this leader can be corrupt and quite nefarious and can re-create the same conditions that the revolution fought to defeat. This is a time when many forces will gather to seat at this power and many small political and mini wars are likely to select the one. (again, we are not even close to this stage, but this is how it “ends”…
Why is this important?
Because this is what history teaches us. This is how you change a corrupt state. It is called a revolution.
Start using the words…make yourself aware of the entire concept of how it is performed.
TLDR: we are at stage 4 revolution, transfer of power. It’s not certain who wins and whether the corruptors and the institutional corruption that is the DNA of Washington DC is altered at all…That is the crux of the matter right now.
and with that I will remind…there are no white horses coming to save you. YOU ARE THE WHITE HORSES COMING TO SAVE YOU. It’s up to you. It has always been up to you. we have simply forgotten this truth because we have no felt the pain and the threat of losing what we have assumed someone else is defending on our behalf. In my opinion, to put a time line on stage 3 was around the moment when people realized that the government under George bush led us into war under manufactured false pretense. I believe this fomented a general distrust, concentrated a focus on asking questions that were not being asked, and also it developed new beginning for a new way to find the truth…alt news….the main stream maniacs were caught not actually reporting facts, but creating psyops to support a wrong and corrupt reason to the march to war….with devastating consequences to American men and women, dead by the thousands, and galactic sized amounts of resources and money spent engaging in a war that has neither made the US safer nor the world. The way Putin began the regeneration of Russia was to offer the oligarchs that were in control the option of keeping their ill-gotten gains on the condition that they get out of politics and stop the grift. I believe that most people are aware and fully understand the corruption. but believe outside of voting there is nothing they can do to put a stop to it. Problem is that the House Ethics Committee is equally split (10 members) between the repubs and the demorats. If you notice very few times do they actually agree on a decision.
That makes more sense. It was a strangely long rant about the HOC.
The real issue with the HOC is that their usually screaming and yelling exposes them to scrutiny, because the only difference between them and Omar is scale.
THAT is why they needed to tap out. They’re all doing the same thing.
Well now, lets take a historical look at Senate or House members being expelled to see the chance of Omar being expelled.
1789-2026 =237 years. In that time frame only 15 Senators have been expelled and only 6 Representatives have been expelled.
If we take out the expulsions during the Civil War that leaves only 1 Senator expelled in 1797 and 0 since 1862–164 years ago.
In the House there were 3 expulsions during the civil war in 1861, so that means just 3 in the past 165 years! Those were in 1980, 2002, 2023.
Now since the 1st Congressional Congress in 1789 through January of 2026 there have been 10,573 members serving only in the House, 1,329 members serving only in the Senate, and 689 members serving in both chambers for a total of 12,591 Congress Critters in the past 239 years of our Republic.
And besides from the Civil War only 1 Senator and 3 Representatives for a total of 4 out of 12,591 total members have been expelled from Congress in 239 years. Wow! They’re either the most ethical group of people ever known or……they’re the most protected group of people even known.
I’ll let you decide, but I won’t be holding my breath that Omar (or any other Congress Critter) will be expelled or face any serious consequences.

Ethics in CONgress don’t exist so any ethics committees are merely white washing efforts.

Sundance, the definition of oversight really doesn’t speak to accountability. The committees mission statement says “ensure” but that could be interpreted as simply making the American people aware of something.
“Our mission statement is to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of the federal government and all its agencies. We provide a check and balance on the role and power of Washington – and a voice to the people it serves.”
In that light, the show you speak about so well could be seen as success if it weren’t for the lack of success in getting lamestream media to be an unbiased partner. Accountability would come if our biased media were to report committee issues in a fair way. Bias in itself isn’t the problem, it’s the airwave broadcasters that the majority of Americans hear only headlines with no in-depth background.
As in your post about intelligence, the broadcast media is an expert at dumbing down their interaction with the room full of less intelligent folks. CTH has yet to find the trick to get that big room of people to listen. We here are alone in listening and it will take something like the Nick Shirley video to put CTH in a broader position of influence. But, there still is a need for the deep dive analysis Sundance provides to all the people who don’t like going in to that “room”.

The Blue States are lining up. Consider the Super Bowl. I wondered why President Trump wasn’t at an NFL game..especially the Super Bowl of all things!!! Then I started really looking at it. It was in California…in San Francisco…Rainbow picture in the middle of the field…very little difference between the two halftime shows except for taking Charlie Kirk’s name in vain…It brought in the money for the NFL, but the taxpayers? Not so much. Then the football team of another sanctuary state/city wins. It was the worst game of football I have ever seen, though I didn’t realize why until yesterday when all the pieces came together. Sanctuary cities/states should not be legal, and, therefore, they should not be federally funded. There’s no way Ilhan should go free. Where are these people who are supposed to be protecting us with their due diligence to research, find and convict these people. Thank you Sundance.

Nothing. Nothing ever happens, nothing ever will. The ruse of democracy is a cruel joke on the citizens. We can speak, we can protest, but we can’t effect change. They simply don’t care nor have we given them any reason to.
When youve got citizens united allowing anyone on the planet to purchase your elected officials – what good is it to elect them? Why would they ever even prioritize the people when the highest bidder is giving them more money than us by orders of magnitude.
Until that loophole is closed, nothing will get done.
